saviour_n it_o be_v true_a there_o be_v not_o in_o the_o law_n give_v to_o adam_n any_o express_a promise_n at_o all_o but_o than_o it_o be_v as_o true_a that_o there_o be_v a_o imply_v promise_n christian_n but_o consider_v it_o with_o a_o honest_a and_o sincere_a mind_n and_o with_o a_o free_a and_o impartial_a reason_n for_o though_o i_o be_o satisfy_v that_o bare_a reason_n can_v not_o have_v discover_v it_o yet_o i_o can_v so_o well_o satisfy_v myself_o that_o a_o diligent_a use_n of_o our_o reason_n will_v then_o let_v we_o dissent_v from_o it_o when_o once_o revelation_n have_v christian_n but_o who_o for_o all_o that_o will_v allow_v nothing_o to_o be_v necessary_a to_o salvation_n but_o the_o belief_n of_o a_o god_n and_o that_o natural_a religion_n which_o be_v consequent_a to_o such_o belief_n and_o therefore_o who_o be_v desirous_a at_o least_o to_o lay_v aside_o all_o revelation_n whatsoever_o now_o though_o other_o who_o have_v look_v far_o into_o the_o matter_n can_v persuade_v themselves_o to_o renounce_v god_n revelation_n concern_v a_o saviour_n make_v to_o man_n in_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n which_o do_v indeed_o carry_v sufficient_a evidence_n in_o themselves_o of_o their_o divine_a authority_n the_o main_a drift_n and_o design_n of_o the_o first_o be_v to_o foretell_v and_o prefigure_v the_o come_v of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n the_o messiah_n with_o other_o thing_n relate_v to_o his_o birth_n life_n death_n resurrection_n etc._n etc._n and_o the_o main_a drift_n and_o design_n of_o the_o last_o be_v to_o exhibit_v to_o we_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o what_o have_v be_v so_o foretell_v and_o prefigure_v for_o the_o testimony_n of_o jesus_n be_v the_o spirit_n of_o prophecy_n and_o the_o spirit_n of_o prophecy_n be_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n yet_o even_o some_o of_o these_o man_n do_v so_o treat_v the_o acknowledge_v revelation_n as_o to_o employ_v their_o reason_n rather_o to_o expound_v away_o those_o difficulty_n than_o to_o resolve_v they_o by_o that_o mean_n reject_v the_o most_o express_a mean_v of_o a_o great_a part_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n and_o so_o cut_v those_o knot_n which_o they_o perhaps_o therefore_o only_o can_v because_o they_o will_v not_o try_v to_o untie_v now_o though_o we_o have_v attempt_v to_o resolve_v several_a such_o difficulty_n and_o some_o of_o they_o in_o such_o a_o way_n which_o we_o hope_v may_v persuade_v think_v man_n that_o provide_v they_o hold_v fast_o the_o foundation_n they_o be_v not_o always_o oblige_v to_o tread_v in_o beat_a path_n yet_o one_o grand_a difficulty_n still_o remain_v and_o that_o be_v that_o if_o man_n be_v to_o obtain_v salvation_n by_o jesus_n christ_n alone_o and_o if_o such_o a_o doctrine_n can_v only_o be_v know_v by_o revelation_n than_o it_o may_v seem_v strange_a at_o least_o that_o the_o revelation_n be_v not_o make_v know_v to_o all_o men._n and_o it_o may_v seem_v the_o more_o strange_a that_o it_o be_v not_o so_o because_o in_o those_o very_a revelation_n which_o we_o have_v of_o it_o we_o find_v express_o that_o the_o salvation_n design_v in_o christ_n jesus_n be_v intend_v for_o all_o man_n and_o it_o be_v natural_a to_o think_v that_o that_o which_o be_v design_v for_o the_o benefit_n of_o all_o shall_v be_v exhibit_v to_o all_o and_o that_o especial_o when_o such_o design_n be_v the_o counsel_n of_o wisdom_n and_o omnipotence_n beside_o if_o the_o revelation_n of_o a_o saviour_n be_v necessary_a for_o any_o then_o either_o immediate_o or_o mediate_o it_o must_v be_v necessary_a for_o all_o because_o if_o any_o of_o those_o man_n to_o who_o it_o be_v not_o make_v may_v be_v save_v without_o it_o then_o so_o may_v those_o to_o who_o it_o be_v make_v and_o so_o the_o revelation_n as_o to_o its_o necessity_n to_o salvation_n may_v have_v be_v whole_o spare_v for_o which_o reason_n we_o can_v think_v it_o sufficient_a to_o say_v that_o the_o saviour_n know_v all_o man_n and_o so_o can_v save_v they_o though_o all_o man_n do_v not_o know_v the_o saviour_n and_o so_o can_v believe_v on_o he_o and_o therefore_o the_o scripture_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n do_v express_o assign_v our_o salvation_n on_o our_o part_n to_o our_o belief_n and_o they_o do_v as_o express_o make_v our_o saviour_n the_o save_v object_n of_o such_o our_o belief_n and_o therefore_o though_o the_o author_n of_o the_o reasonableness_n of_o christianity_n have_v show_v himself_o no_o great_a friend_n to_o article_n of_o christian_a faith_n and_o therefore_o do_v at_o least_o pretend_v to_o wipe_v away_o the_o necessity_n of_o all_o other_o article_n in_o our_o creed_n but_o this_o that_o jesus_n of_o nazareth_n be_v the_o messiah_n yet_o he_o do_v not_o adventure_v so_o
