those_o help_n in_o order_n to_o the_o duty_n for_o the_o apostle_n have_v prescribe_v a_o help_n for_o keep_v the_o flesh_n at_o under_o do_v here_o demonstrate_v clear_o that_o the_o thing_n prescribe_v do_v real_o help_v as_o appear_v from_o the_o scope_n 2._o as_o the_o regenerate_a man_n have_v a_o renew_a principle_n of_o grace_n in_o all_o the_o faculty_n and_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n wrought_v in_o he_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n so_o he_o have_v in_o all_o those_o some_o
remainder_n of_o corruption_n yet_o unmortified_a whereby_o his_o whole_a mind_n will_n and_o affection_n be_v partly_o spiritual_a partly_o carnal_a both_o flesh_n and_o spirit_n be_v in_o he_o for_o the_o flesh_n lust_v against_o the_o spirit_n say_v he_o 3._o none_o of_o those_o power_n or_o principle_n in_o the_o regenerate_a man_n be_v dead_a dull_a or_o mere_o passive_a but_o both_o of_o they_o be_v work_v and_o active_a for_o the_o flesh_n lust_v and_o the_o spirit_n lust_v whereby_o be_v mean_v that_o both_o of_o they_o do_v sway_n and_o incline_v the_o whole_a man_n to_o work_v in_o a_o way_n congruous_a to_o their_o respective_a nature_n the_o one_o to_o good_a and_o the_o other_o to_o evil_n 4._o the_o activity_n of_o these_o two_o active_a principle_n be_v in_o a_o flat_a opposition_n the_o one_o to_o the_o other_o so_o that_o in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o man_n and_o while_o he_o be_v about_o one_o and_o the_o same_o action_n there_o be_v a_o conflict_n and_o battle_n betwixt_o these_o two_o contrary_a party_n rom._n 7._o 19_o 21._o the_o flesh_n lust_v against_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o spirit_n against_o the_o flesh_n 5._o as_o there_o be_v a_o mixture_n of_o both_o these_o principle_n in_o all_o the_o power_n and_o faculty_n of_o the_o regenerate_a man_n so_o there_o be_v a_o mixture_n of_o their_o respective_a influence_n and_o efficacy_n in_o every_o action_n of_o he_o whereby_o though_o there_o be_v a_o prevalency_n of_o the_o one_o above_o the_o other_o in_o some_o action_n yet_o there_o be_v not_o one_o action_n to_o which_o both_o of_o they_o do_v not_o contribute_v somewhat_o if_o not_o by_o a_o causal_a influence_n yet_o by_o some_o measure_n of_o active_a resistance_n for_o the_o flesh_n lust_v against_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o spirit_n against_o the_o flesh_n 6._o hence_o it_o follow_v that_o as_o the_o action_n of_o the_o regenerate_a be_v not_o perfect_a and_o free_a from_o a_o sinful_a mixture_n so_o there_o be_v some_o difference_n betwixt_o his_o worst_a action_n and_o those_o same_o action_n as_o go_v about_o by_o the_o unregenerate_a man_n even_o this_o that_o the_o flesh_n do_v not_o advance_v with_o a_o full_a gale_n but_o meet_v with_o the_o contrary_a tide_n of_o resistance_n from_o the_o spirit_n in_o some_o degree_n for_o as_o the_o flesh_n lust_v against_o the_o spirit_n so_o the_o spirit_n lust_v against_o the_o flesh_n and_o you_o can_v do_v the_o thing_n that_o you_o will_v say_v he_o 7._o though_o unregenerate_a man_n may_v have_v somewhat_o like_a to_o this_o spiritual_a combat_n even_o a_o conflict_n sometime_o betwixt_o the_o natural_a conscience_n and_o rebellious_a affection_n rom._n 2._o 1._o yet_o they_o have_v not_o this_o same_o very_a combat_n here_o speak_v of_o wherein_o
