to_o suffer_v whatsoever_o shall_v be_v bring_v upon_o you_o and_o further_o say_v christ_n i_o be_o with_o you_o always_o even_o to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n one_o will_v have_v think_v that_o that_o shall_v have_v be_v sufficient_a that_o christ_n shall_v have_v say_v i_o be_o with_o you_o to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n but_o there_o be_v something_o more_o in_o this_o i_o be_o with_o you_o always_o even_o to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n that_o be_v i_o will_v not_o be_v only_o with_o you_o so_o as_o not_o whole_o to_o leave_v you_o but_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o one_o moment_n of_o time_n to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n but_o in_o it_o i_o will_v be_v with_o you_o i_o will_v not_o only_o overshadow_v you_o and_o send_v my_o presence_n with_o you_o but_o every_o moment_n every_o day_n every_o sermon_n you_o preach_v and_o then_o i_o will_v be_v with_o you_o to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n those_o be_v dead_a above_o 1500._o year_n ago_o and_o yet_o christ_n say_v he_o will_v be_v with_o they_o to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n that_o be_v with_o those_o that_o shall_v succeed_v they_o in_o the_o minnistery_n of_o reconciliation_n this_o be_v the_o commission_n and_o when_o they_o come_v to_o any_o house_n they_o be_v to_o begin_v thus_o you_o shall_v say_v peace_n be_v to_o you_o when_o they_o come_v to_o any_o place_n that_o be_v the_o peace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n now_o this_o doctrine_n of_o reconciliation_n be_v that_o that_o must_v be_v understand_v by_o preach_v we_o can_v read_v but_o very_o little_a of_o it_o scarce_o one_o letter_n in_o all_o the_o book_n of_o the_o creature_n we_o can_v come_v to_o understand_v it_o by_o any_o knowledge_n of_o our_o own_o but_o it_o must_v be_v teach_v we_o no_o nor_o by_o the_o creature_n but_o thus_o much_o may_v be_v understand_v by_o the_o creature_n god_n continue_v to_o the_o world_n and_o shine_v upon_o the_o just_a as_o well_o as_o upon_o the_o unjust_a and_o abundance_n of_o mercy_n here_o do_v this_o declare_v with_o a_o loud_a voice_n that_o there_o be_v some_o possibility_n for_o man_n to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n there_o be_v mercy_n for_o mankind_n there_o do_v seem_v to_o be_v a_o loud_a voice_n in_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n in_o the_o creature_n to_o sound_v out_o in_o the_o ear_n of_o all_o the_o world_n that_o man_n be_v in_o a_o better_a condition_n than_o the_o devil_n for_o certain_o if_o god_n have_v no_o intention_n to_o do_v good_a unto_o mankind_n he_o will_v not_o continue_v so_o many_o mercy_n as_o he_o do_v but_o now_o this_o can_v show_v we_o what_o be_v christ_n but_o it_o may_v show_v we_o thus_o much_o that_o god_n have_v a_o way_n of_o mercy_n for_o the_o child_n of_o man_n and_o i_o think_v in_o part_n that_o text_n may_v be_v mean_v of_o this_o that_o we_o have_v in_o rom._n 10.18_o where_o the_o apostle_n speak_v concern_v the_o gospel_n but_o i_o say_v have_v they_o not_o hear_v yes_o verily_a their_o sound_n go_v into_o all_o the_o world_n have_v they_o not_o hear_v of_o the_o gospel_n that_o be_v here_o speak_v of_o have_v not_o israel_n hear_v the_o gospel_n yes_o very_o their_o sound_n go_v into_o all_o the_o earth_n and_o their_o word_n unto_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n and_o this_o text_n if_o you_o compare_v it_o with_o the_o 19_o psal_n we_o may_v have_v cause_n to_o wonder_n much_o at_o the_o quotation_n of_o it_o and_o there_o you_o have_v it_o a_o little_a different_a as_o in_o the_o vers_fw-la 4._o their_o line_n that_o be_v the_o great_a characcter_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n that_o be_v write_v in_o the_o book_n of_o the_o creature_n as_o it_o be_v in_o a_o line_n that_o be_v go_v out_o bring_v the_o earth_n and_o have_v a_o kind_n of_o sound_n in_o it_o at_o least_o we_o may_v see_v it_o write_v but_o hence_o you_o see_v in_o the_o 19_o psalm_n it_o be_v cler_o speak_v concern_v the_o work_n of_o god_n in_o the_o sun_n and_o in_o the_o heaven_n the_o heaven_n declare_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o firmant_fw-la show_v his_o handy_a work_n the_o creature_n have_v a_o loud_a voice_n to_o call_v we_o to_o god_n by_o repentance_n now_o there_o can_v be_v no_o call_n of_o we_o to_o repentance_n but_o it_o be_v a_o voice_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o
common_a wealth_n look_v what_o right_o you_o have_v to_o your_o house_n land_n and_o estate_n you_o have_v the_o same_o right_n to_o your_o practice_n of_o religion_n this_o be_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n towards_o england_n rather_o than_o to_o other_o country_n now_o we_o take_v up_o arm_n to_o defend_v our_o civil_a right_n and_o let_v it_o be_v in_o what_o it_o will_v be_v either_o to_o our_o estate_n or_o house_n or_o religion_n or_o whatsoever_o it_o be_v still_o it_o be_v a_o civil_a right_n this_o be_v that_o that_o justify_v this_o quarrel_n and_o this_o be_v enough_o to_o stop_v the_o mouth_n of_o any_o in_o this_o point_n and_o to_o answer_v that_o argument_n about_o the_o primitive_a time_n but_o i_o let_v this_o pass_v and_o come_v unto_o the_o next_o verse_n chap._n 45._o verse_n 20._o open_v and_o five_o doctrine_n propound_v verse_n 20._o now_o then_o we_o be_v ambassador_n for_o christ_n as_o though_o god_n do_v beseech_v you_o by_o we_o we_o pray_v you_o in_o christ_n stead_n be_v you_o reconcile_v to_o god_n now_o we_o be_v ambassador_n mark_v what_o rise_v the_o holy_a apostle_n take_v say_v he_o god_n be_v in_o christ_n reconcile_n the_o world_n unto_o that_o in_o these_o word_n you_o have_v these_o several_a point_n of_o doctrine_n i_o may_v cast_v they_o into_o these_o several_a conclusion_n doct._n first_o that_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v ambassador_n of_o christ_n second_o what_o they_o do_v in_o this_o their_o embassage_n it_o be_v as_o if_o god_n and_o christ_n do_v it_o as_o though_o god_n do_v beseech_v you_o by_o we_o so_o we_o pray_v you_o in_o christ_n stead_n three_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o excellency_n of_o their_o commission_n and_o embassage_n make_v they_o wonderful_a careful_a to_o do_v what_o they_o be_v send_v about_o and_o very_o earnest_a in_o ply_v the_o work_n they_o be_v send_v to_o do_v now_o we_o be_v ambassador_n and_o as_o though_o god_n do_v beseech_v you_o by_o we_o we_o pray_v be_v exceed_o willing_a that_o sinner_n shall_v come_v in_o to_o be_v reconcile_v to_o he_o for_o they_o do_v pray_v and_o beseech_v you_o five_o that_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v by_o all_o the_o mean_n they_o can_v to_o labour_v to_o draw_v a_o people_n by_o entreat_v and_o beseech_v they_o and_o to_o take_v no_o nay_o of_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o people_n until_o they_o do_v get_v they_o to_o come_v in_o to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n these_o be_v the_o five_o thing_n of_o the_o 20._o verse_n now_o than_o we_o be_v ambassador_n for_o christ_n etc._n etc._n i_o shall_v but_o brief_o treat_v of_o the_o first_o three_o for_o indeed_o the_o two_o latter_a be_v the_o chief_n which_o i_o choose_v this_o text_n for_o to_o show_v you_o the_o willingness_n of_o god_n that_o sinner_n shall_v come_v in_o and_o be_v reconcile_v to_o he_o and_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n be_v to_o draw_v the_o heart_n of_o the_o people_n but_o the_o other_o three_o i_o shall_v speak_v of_o but_o by_o way_n of_o preface_n unto_o these_o chap._n 46._o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v ambassador_n of_o christ_n open_v in_o six_o particular_n first_o that_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v the_o ambassador_n of_o christ_n not_o ambassador_n for_o belial_n or_o for_o antichrist_n as_o many_o minister_n have_v be_v to_o plead_v the_o cause_n of_o antichrist_n as_o if_o they_o be_v send_v as_o legate_n from_o rome_n and_o to_o plead_v for_o superstitious_a vanity_n we_o be_v not_o ambassador_n for_o belial_n for_o sin_n for_o wickedness_n for_o many_o time_n you_o hear_v plead_v against_o godliness_n and_o for_o wickedness_n no_o we_o be_v ambassador_n for_o christ_n we_o be_v send_v ambassador_n this_o be_v something_o more_o than_o messenger_n this_o be_v a_o high_a degree_n than_o to_o be_v a_o bare_a messenger_n a_o embasdor_n be_v more_o than_o a_o steward_n in_o 1._o cor._n 4._o therefore_o let_v a_o man_n so_o account_v of_o we_o as_o the_o minister_n of_o christ_n and_o dispenser_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o salvation_n i_o only_o will_v show_v you_o a_o scripture_n for_o that_o and_o a_o little_a open_v it_o and_o soon_o pass_v by_o this_o point_n we_o have_v it_o often_o in_o scripture_n this_o word_n ambassador_n in_o eph._n 6.2_o there_o you_o have_v it_o to_o the_o same_o purpose_n as_o it_o be_v here_o for_o which_o i_o be_o a_o ambassador_n and_o he_o be_v in_o bond_n he_o be_v not_o use_v like_o a_o ambassador_n you_o know_v ambassador_n first_o they_o be_v such_o as_o be_v send_v from_o prince_n and_o state_n to_o other_o prince_n and_o state_n it_o be_v not_o a_o private_a man_n if_o any_o of_o you_o send_v a_o messenger_n about_o a_o business_n he_o be_v not_o say_v to_o be_v a_o ambassador_n but_o one_o that_o come_v from_o a_o prince_n or_o state_n from_o other_o country_n he_o be_v say_v to_o be_v a_o ambassador_n so_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n he_o be_v not_o send_v to_o deal_v between_o man_n and_o man_n but_o between_o god_n and_o man_n in_o matter_n that_o concern_v the_o great_a god_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o send_v from_o he_o though_o design_v to_o it_o by_o man_n yet_o their_o calling_n depend_v upon_o god_n upon_o christ_n only_o here_o be_v the_o difference_n when_o prince_n and_o state_n send_v their_o ambassador_n they_o send_v they_o to_o other_o prince_n and_o to_o other_o state_n but_o now_o god_n send_v ambassador_n to_o poor_a wretched_a sinful_a man_n and_o herein_o he_o do_v honour_n man_n that_o he_o will_v send_v a_o messenger_n from_o himself_o to_o they_o to_o be_v a_o ambassador_n when_o a_o prince_n do_v send_v a_o messenger_n to_o a_o person_n you_o do_v not_o say_v that_o the_o prince_n do_v send_v a_o ambassador_n to_o they_o that_o be_v in_o prison_n that_o he_o may_v execute_v when_o he_o please_v rather_o a_o executioner_n than_o a_o ambassador_n so_o we_o may_v all_o have_v expect_v rather_o that_o there_o shall_v a_o executioner_n have_v be_v send_v but_o god_n be_v please_v for_o his_o elect_a one_o to_o send_v a_o ambassador_n and_o beside_o ambassador_n be_v not_o send_v about_o every_o trivial_a business_n but_o when_o a_o ambassador_n be_v send_v it_o be_v about_o a_o public_a business_n a_o state_n business_n of_o some_o great_a consequence_n so_o when_o you_o hear_v that_o god_n send_v his_o ambassador_n to_o the_o world_n you_o must_v know_v that_o it_o be_v about_o a_o great_a and_o a_o weighty_a business_n about_o a_o state_n business_n it_o be_v about_o that_o that_o do_v concern_v the_o very_a state_n of_o heaven_n the_o god_n of_o heaven_n it_o be_v that_o that_o concern_v god_n himself_o more_o near_o than_o any_o thing_n in_o â—â—â—s_n world_n concern_v he_o it_o concern_v god_n next_o unto_o his_o own_o be_v and_o unto_o his_o son_n the_o near_a of_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v without_o that_o belong_v to_o a_o god_n therefore_o we_o be_v call_v ambassador_n three_o they_o be_v call_v ambassador_n because_o they_o must_v look_v to_o this_o that_o they_o do_v not_o the_o least_o thing_n but_o by_o commission_n it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o his_o life_n be_v worth_a to_o go_v beyond_o his_o commission_n in_o any_o thing_n so_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n they_o must_v keep_v close_o to_o the_o commission_n which_o they_o receive_v from_o jesus_n christ_n four_o when_o he_o go_v to_o any_o place_n he_o do_v represent_v the_o person_n of_o the_o king_n himself_o from_o who_o he_o come_v and_o what_o wrong_n be_v do_v to_o he_o be_v do_v to_o the_o king_n person_n let_v the_o ambassador_n be_v never_o so_o mean_a so_o all_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n they_o come_v to_o you_o in_o the_o
preach_v to_o you_o how_o do_v you_o think_v that_o christ_n himself_o will_v preach_v if_o he_o be_v here_o upon_o the_o earth_n that_o which_o come_v near_a to_o what_o christ_n will_v preach_v that_o you_o must_v favour_v cerrain_o christ_n will_v not_o preach_v to_o defend_v superstitious_a vanity_n for_o christ_n when_o he_o come_v to_o preach_v preach_v so_o as_o the_o people_n many_o time_n deride_v he_o and_o scorn_v he_o one_o time_n when_o he_o have_v do_v his_o sermon_n they_o carry_v he_o to_o the_o brow_n of_o the_o hill_n of_o the_o city_n and_o will_v present_o have_v break_v his_o neck_n do_v but_o read_v that_o sermon_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o 5_o 6_o 7._o math._n what_o preacher_n will_v you_o think_v your_o courtier_n to_o be_v if_o christ_n be_v preach_v to_o you_o that_o that_o come_v near_a to_o that_o that_o christ_n will_v preach_v that_o you_o must_v most_o favour_n and_o affect_v second_o that_o kind_n of_o preach_v you_o think_v in_o your_o conscience_n do_v most_o prevail_v in_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o word_n have_v humble_v most_o heart_n and_o convert_v most_o soul_n that_o christ_n have_v set_v his_o seal_n unto_o i_o appeal_v unto_o you_o what_o kind_n of_o preach_v have_v humble_v most_o soul_n and_o do_v most_o good_a have_v not_o some_o poor_a country_n preacher_n that_o have_v preach_v in_o the_o evidence_n and_o demonstration_n of_o the_o spirit_n convert_v more_o soul_n unto_o god_n than_o a_o hundred_o bishop_n so_o that_o he_o may_v be_v able_a to_o say_v at_o the_o great_a day_n of_o judgement_n according_a to_o his_o measure_n as_o our_o bless_a saviour_n say_v here_o be_o i_o and_o those_o who_o thou_o have_v give_v i_o three_o examine_v of_o what_o side_n you_o be_v those_o that_o be_v of_o god_n side_n they_o know_v his_o voice_n my_o sheep_n hear_v my_o voice_n but_o a_o stranger_n they_o will_v not_o follow_v take_v any_o town_n and_o divide_v the_o people_n and_o see_v how_o the_o minister_n be_v like_v some_o be_v for_o and_o some_o against_o he_o but_o now_o look_v into_o the_o difference_n of_o their_o life_n of_o both_o these_o kind_n of_o man_n of_o those_o that_o be_v for_o and_o those_o that_o be_v against_o the_o minister_n see_v their_o different_a walking_n come_v into_o such_o a_o place_n as_o this_o because_o they_o say_v there_o be_v a_o thousand_o alehouse_n belong_v to_o this_o place_n of_o stepny_n i_o think_v there_o be_v hardly_o five_o that_o do_v savour_v the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n and_o all_o your_o profane_a one_o general_o they_o speak_v against_o the_o minister_n now_o i_o appeal_v to_o your_o conscience_n if_o you_o be_v to_o stand_v before_o god_n at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n of_o which_o side_n will_v you_o be_v either_o of_o the_o side_n of_o those_o that_o be_v drunkard_n swearer_n unclean_a person_n and_o railer_n at_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n or_o of_o the_o side_n of_o those_o that_o be_v willing_a to_o take_v pain_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o bless_v god_n for_o the_o ministry_n of_o his_o word_n certain_o that_o preach_v have_v most_o of_o christ_n in_o it_o that_o those_o that_o have_v most_o of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n do_v most_o savour_n fot_o they_o know_v the_o voice_n of_o christ_n and_o a_o stranger_n they_o will_v not_o hear_v they_o can_v understand_v it_o though_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a one_o can_v that_o be_v the_o second_o use_n chap._n 53._o use_v 3_o we_o shall_v delight_v in_o the_o word_n a_o three_o use_v of_o the_o point_n be_v this_o be_v the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n such_o as_o have_v god_n and_o christ_n speak_v in_o it_o oh_o then_o how_o shall_v we_o delight_v in_o it_o how_o shall_v we_o bless_v god_n for_o it_o with_o what_o greediness_n shall_v we_o come_v to_o hear_v at_o any_o time_n what_o be_v not_o the_o voice_n of_o jesus_n christ_n sweet_a unto_o we_o we_o have_v christ_n woo_v of_o we_o christ_n exhort_v of_o we_o and_o christ_n comfort_v of_o we_o when_o we_o come_v to_o the_o word_n o_o with_o what_o readiness_n and_o cheerfulness_n shall_v we_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o voice_n unto_o death_n this_o the_o bless_a apostle_n say_v be_v when_o we_o be_v in_o the_o flesh_n but_o now_o be_v believer_n though_o we_o have_v the_o remaining_n the_o motion_n of_o sin_n yet_o they_o be_v not_o such_o as_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n unto_o death_n none_o of_o the_o sin_n of_o beleiver_n bring_v forth_o fruit_n unto_o death_n for_o they_o be_v deliver_v from_o that_o power_n of_o the_o law_n that_o the_o law_n can_v come_v with_o the_o sentence_n of_o death_n upon_o they_o this_o be_v a_o high_a privilege_n of_o believer_n and_o the_o right_a knowledge_n of_o this_o will_v help_v we_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o think_v that_o our_o peace_n with_o god_n be_v so_o break_v that_o god_n be_v our_o enemy_n through_o every_o sin_n which_o through_o humane_a frailty_n be_v commit_v object_n you_o will_v say_v what_o need_v then_o believer_n to_o be_v careful_a to_o avoid_v sin_n may_v they_o not_o take_v liberty_n to_o walk_v as_o they_o listen_v o_o no_o there_o be_v other_o argument_n beside_o this_o indeed_o have_v they_o a_o slaveish_a spirit_n have_v they_o no_o other_o argument_n to_o persuade_v they_o from_o sin_n but_o this_o that_o sin_n will_v make_v god_n and_o they_o enemy_n it_o be_v somewhat_o man_n that_o object_n and_o say_v that_o beleiver_n may_v do_v what_o they_o listen_v because_o their_o peace_n with_o god_n can_v be_v break_v the_o truth_n be_v they_o themselves_o have_v slavish_a heart_n and_o they_o do_v not_o know_v the_o strength_n of_o other_o argument_n to_o keep_v they_o from_o sin_n i_o dear_a bold_o affirm_v this_o that_o a_o believer_n shall_v not_o upon_o the_o commission_n of_o sin_n think_v that_o therefore_o he_o be_v now_o under_o the_o sentence_n of_o death_n if_o so_o be_v it_o be_v such_o a_o sin_n as_o may_v stand_v with_o the_o state_n of_o grace_n as_o many_o weakness_n and_o frailty_n may_v for_o there_o be_v some_o sin_n as_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n which_o the_o scripture_n speak_v of_o which_o if_o beleiver_n live_v in_o they_o shall_v die_v you_o will_v say_v what_o can_v they_o perish_v eternal_o yet_o this_o be_v make_v as_o a_o mean_n to_o keep_v they_o from_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n but_o if_o they_o shall_v come_v to_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n which_o god_n grace_n will_v keep_v they_o from_o do_v in_o a_o constant_a way_n they_o shall_v die_v and_o so_o far_o they_o may_v apprehend_v eternal_a death_n be_v due_a unto_o they_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o they_o to_o fall_v into_o that_o condition_n to_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n but_o it_o be_v not_o true_a that_o a_o beleiver_n upon_o every_o sin_n he_o commit_v shall_v be_v under_o the_o sentence_n of_o death_n for_o be_v once_o believer_n we_o be_v free_v from_o the_o law_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n after_o he_o have_v speak_v of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n to_o the_o same_o purpose_n in_o rom._n 5._o he_o answer_v this_o objection_n what_o shall_v we_o say_v then_o shall_v we_o continue_v in_o sin_n that_o grace_n may_v abound_v god_n forbid_v how_o shall_v we_o that_o be_v dead_a to_o sin_n live_v any_o long_a therein_o and_o then_o follow_v even_o as_o sin_n have_v reign_v unto_o death_n so_o grace_n must_v reign_v through_o righteousness_n to_o eternal_a life_n the_o grace_n of_o god_n reign_v domineer_v over_o all_o thing_n that_o come_v to_o oppose_v it_o even_o over_o all_o our_o infirmity_n over_o all_o our_o sin_n over_o whatsoever_o may_v seem_v to_o contradict_v it_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n reign_v there_o be_v a_o domineer_a power_n in_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n over_o all_o thing_n that_o will_v contradict_v it_o but_o this_o be_v through_o righteousness_n thou_o have_v sin_n in_o thou_o that_o will_v oppose_v god_n reconcile_a grace_n but_o it_o â—aigns_v notwithstanding_o that_o sin_n of_o thou_o and_o it_o reign_v to_o eternal_a life_n it_o have_v a_o reign_a power_n to_o carry_v thou_o through_o all_o difficulty_n and_o hindrance_n to_o eternal_a life_n and_o all_o through_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n therefore_o believer_n that_o they_o may_v keep_v their_o peace_n with_o god_n be_v to_o look_v upon_o all_o duty_n require_v in_o the_o law_n as_o bound_v to_o do_v they_o and_o that_o they_o be_v not_o free_v from_o the_o duty_n the_o law_n require_v their_o relation_n unto_o god_n redeem_v of_o they_o do_v not_o take_v away_o their_o relation_n unto_o god_n as_o a_o creator_n still_o they_o be_v bind_v to_o god_n as_o a_o creator_n as_o well_o as_o a_o redeemer_n but_o they_o shall_v look_v upon_o the_o law_n as_o come_v to_o they_o in_o the_o hand_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v a_o excellent_a speech_n which_o luther_n have_v for_o this_o o_o how_o sweet_a say_v he_o be_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n unto_o we_o when_o we_o receive_v they_o not_o as_o they_o be_v in_o the_o book_n but_o as_o they_o be_v in_o the_o wound_n of_o christ_n when_o we_o read_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n in_o the_o wound_n of_o chrst_n and_o receive_v they_o there_o o_o how_o sweet_a be_v they_o then_o then_o we_o obey_v they_o out_o of_o sweet_a principle_n not_o out_o of_o legal_a respect_n as_o if_o upon_o every_o breach_n we_o shall_v be_v bring_v under_o the_o sentence_n of_o eternal_a death_n as_o we_o do_v before_o this_o i_o take_v to_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o that_o place_n in_o rom._n 8.15_o for_o you_o have_v not_o receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n again_o to_o fear_v what_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n that_o cause_v fear_n at_o first_o before_o one_o be_v a_o believer_n be_v this_o either_o perfect_o obey_v the_o law_n or_o perish_v say_v the_o spirit_n even_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n whether_o able_a or_o no_o you_o must_v obey_v every_o thing_n or_o die_v and_o if_o thou_o have_v sin_v against_o the_o law_n thou_o be_v now_o accurse_v notwithstanding_o all_o the_o duty_n that_o thou_o have_v do_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n say_v so_o to_o all_o unbeleiver_n and_o this_o cause_v fear_n but_o say_v the_o apostle_n you_o have_v not_o receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n to_o fear_v again_o though_o perhaps_o thou_o may_v fear_v upon_o thy_o weakness_n that_o god_n will_v turn_v thy_o enemy_n upon_o every_o breach_n but_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n say_v not_o so_o that_o thou_o be_v therefore_o accurse_v but_o that_o spirit_n enable_v thou_o to_o go_v to_o god_n as_o a_o father_n to_o heal_v thy_o weakness_n and_o to_o give_v thou_o power_n against_o they_o and_o the_o contrary_a
be_v such_o a_o mistake_n as_o indeed_o be_v a_o great_a dishonour_n to_o the_o work_n of_o god_n reconciliation_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n we_o must_v put_v much_o upon_o that_o great_a work_n which_o god_n put_v so_o much_o upon_o and_o if_o we_o do_v we_o may_v go_v up_o and_o down_o in_o the_o world_n with_o a_o world_n of_o comfort_n and_o it_o will_v increase_v sanctification_n indeed_o to_o deny_v all_o kind_n of_o obleigment_n of_o the_o law_n to_o god_n and_o to_o say_v that_o man_n be_v not_o bind_v to_o keep_v it_o as_o god_n be_v their_o creator_n &c_n &c_n there_o be_v a_o exstream_n vanity_n in_o it_o but_o to_o give_v the_o law_n that_o which_o be_v its_o due_n and_o to_o give_v the_o believer_n his_o due_a too_o to_o show_v how_o far_o we_o be_v bind_v to_o it_o and_o how_o far_o deliver_v from_o it_o this_o be_v a_o great_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o people_n shall_v labour_v to_o understand_v it_o aright_o and_o take_v heed_n lest_o out_o of_o a_o desire_n to_o apprehend_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n we_o do_v not_o go_v too_o far_o in_o ourthrow_v our_o obligation_n to_o god_n by_o the_o law_n one_o will_v think_v that_o this_o which_o i_o have_v deliver_v if_o man_n spirit_n be_v not_o very_o wanton_a be_v enough_o namely_o that_o we_o be_v not_o under_o the_o sentence_n of_o condemnation_n though_o we_o be_v not_o free_v from_o the_o law_n and_o the_o duty_n thereof_o as_o god_n be_v our_o creator_n and_o we_o shall_v think_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n magnify_v in_o this_o and_o therefore_o thus_o far_o take_v hold_v and_o make_v use_n of_o this_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n as_o not_o to_o loose_v the_o comfort_n of_o it_o this_o be_v the_o first_o weakness_n that_o hinder_v man_n from_o preserve_a the_o comfortable_a assurance_n of_o their_o peace_n with_o god_n weakness_n 2._o the_o second_o weakness_n be_v this_o when_o man_n that_o be_v godly_a be_v ready_a to_o judge_n of_o god_n work_n through_o their_o weakness_n as_o work_n of_o enmity_n against_o they_o not_o only_o of_o their_o way_n towards_o god_n as_o a_o argument_n that_o god_n and_o they_o be_v at_o enmity_n but_o they_o be_v ready_a to_o judge_n all_o the_o administration_n of_o god_n providence_n as_o if_o they_o be_v the_o work_n of_o a_o enemy_n to_o they_o as_o if_o god_n be_v in_o they_o walk_v contrary_a to_o they_o this_o be_v a_o great_a weakness_n and_o dishonour_n unto_o god_n let_v the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a judge_n so_o if_o they_o wil._n as_o god_n say_v fury_n be_v not_o in_o i_o who_o will_v set_v the_o brier_n and_o the_o thorn_n before_o he_o he_o will_v go_v through_o they_o when_o god_n come_v in_o outward_a way_n of_o misery_n ungodly_a one_o may_v look_v upon_o they_o as_o god_n walk_v in_o they_o contrary_a unto_o they_o they_o may_v look_v upon_o all_o his_o work_n as_o the_o work_n of_o a_o enemy_n and_o as_o one_o that_o intend_v their_o ruin_n and_o destruction_n they_o be_v to_o look_v upon_o every_o trouble_n if_o it_o be_v but_o the_o least_o distemper_n of_o their_o body_n as_o the_o beginning_n of_o eternal_a wrath_n and_o a_o make_v way_n for_o eternal_a misery_n for_o aught_o they_o know_v but_o they_o that_o be_v reconcile_v to_o god_n it_o be_v their_o weakness_n if_o they_o shall_v look_v upon_o the_o great_a affliction_n they_o meet_v withal_o as_o a_o work_n of_o god_n come_v towards_o they_o as_o a_o enemy_n no_o you_o must_v know_v that_o there_o be_v this_o power_n in_o your_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n in_o christ_n as_o first_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o ever_o god_n do_v towards_o you_o that_o do_v tend_v to_o everlasting_a wrath_n nothing_o whatever_o it_o be_v here_o be_v thy_o comfort_n that_o thou_o may_v build_v upon_o this_o though_o thy_o affliction_n be_v sore_o and_o though_o they_o be_v long_o upon_o thy_o body_n or_o estate_n perhaps_o thou_o lose_v all_o that_o thou_o have_v and_o it_o may_v be_v god_n deliver_v thou_o up_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o thy_o enemy_n and_o they_o trample_v upon_o thou_o as_o dirt_n yet_o nothing_o of_o all_o this_o tend_v to_o eternal_a wrath_n as_o on_o the_o contrary_a though_o a_o wicked_a man_n may_v have_v a_o great_a many_o favour_n from_o god_n and_o fruit_n of_o his_o patience_n yet_o no_o wicked_a man_n have_v ground_n to_o make_v such_o a_o interpretation_n of_o any_o good_a thing_n he_o enjoy_v from_o god_n as_o to_o think_v that_o this_o do_v tend_v to_o his_o eternal_a good_a so_o those_o that_o be_v believer_n though_o they_o meet_v with_o never_o so_o great_a affliction_n yet_o they_o have_v not_o sufficient_a ground_n to_o make_v this_o interpretation_n of_o those_o affliction_n that_o they_o tend_v to_o their_o utter_a undo_n and_o one_o will_v think_v that_o this_o be_v enough_o on_o the_o other_o side_n for_o man_n to_o believe_v that_o whatsoever_o affliction_n they_o meet_v withal_o in_o this_o world_n the_o wrath_n of_o god_n in_o all_o those_o affliction_n be_v take_v away_o they_o shall_v not_o tend_v to_o their_o ruin_n and_o eeternal_a misery_n that_o though_o the_o affliction_n themselves_o may_v remain_v yet_o the_o poison_n of_o every_o affliction_n which_o be_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v take_v away_o by_o christ_n nay_o whatsoever_o befall_v we_o in_o this_o world_n be_v so_o far_o from_o tend_v to_o eternal_a misery_n that_o it_o be_v through_o the_o love_n of_o god_n tend_v to_o thy_o good_a that_o which_o do_v seem_v to_o be_v most_o cross_a to_o thy_o desire_n yet_o it_o be_v such_o as_o tend_v to_o thy_o everlasting_a good_a in_o christ_n and_o this_o one_o will_v think_v be_v enough_o for_o the_o sattisfaction_n of_o man_n heart_n in_o the_o point_n of_o affliction_n as_o what_o be_v deliver_v before_o may_v be_v enough_o concern_v our_o freedom_n from_o the_o law_n so_o what_o i_o have_v now_o write_v in_o be_v chastened_a for_o our_o sin_n take_v but_o these_o two_o thing_n that_o no_o evil_a no_o chastisement_n that_o shall_v befall_v we_o shall_v tend_v to_o our_o everlasting_a misery_n nay_o nothing_o shall_v befall_v we_o but_o it_o be_v out_o of_o love_n and_o tend_v to_o our_o eternal_a good_a these_o two_o be_v grant_v one_o will_v thing_n one_o may_v grant_v any_o thing_n else_o that_o god_n may_v show_v a_o fatherly_a displeasure_n against_o we_o for_o our_o sin_n though_o not_o as_o a_o revenge_a judge_n that_o god_n may_v exercise_v his_o wisdom_n that_o way_n to_o mannife_v his_o holiness_n and_o how_o he_o disliks_n sin_n etc._n etc._n one_o will_v think_v this_o might_n safe_o be_v grant_v grant_v the_o other_o two_o and_o indeed_o these_o two_o and_o the_o other_o concern_v the_o law_n all_o our_o divine_n that_o be_v orthrodax_n grant_v and_o these_o be_v enough_o to_o satisfy_v we_o about_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o believer_n be_v thorough_o revit_v and_o ground_v in_o this_o they_o may_v come_v to_o keep_v the_o assurance_n of_o their_o peace_n with_o god_n for_o what_o shall_v hinder_v either_o their_o sin_n or_o god_n affliction_n now_o neither_o of_o these_o shall_v hinder_v a_o believer_n peace_n but_o that_o he_o may_v be_v able_a still_o to_o preserve_v it_o look_v upon_o god_n through_o christ_n this_o be_v concern_v the_o lose_n of_o the_o assurance_n of_o our_o peace_n through_o weakness_n chap._n 26._o we_o may_v loose_v the_o asserance_n of_o our_o peace_n with_o god_n by_o our_o sinful_a walk_n second_o we_o may_v come_v to_o loose_v our_o peace_n the_o assurance_n of_o our_o peace_n with_o god_n through_o sinfulness_n through_o our_o loose_a and_o carnal_a walk_v with_o god_n by_o this_o mean_v we_o may_v come_v to_o fear_v that_o such_o walk_a can_v stand_v with_o the_o when_o it_o be_v but_o a_o daily_a infirmity_n and_o when_o it_o be_v such_o as_o he_o strius_fw-la against_o he_o be_v easy_o satisfy_v but_o when_o it_o come_v to_o that_o that_o it_o be_v very_o like_o walk_v after_o the_o flesh_n as_o indeed_o many_o fall_n so_o foul_o as_o you_o can_v scarce_o perceive_v any_o difference_n between_o one_o that_o work_v after_o the_o flesh_n and_o he_o his_o exceed_o cloud_n the_o light_n of_o god_n favour_n and_o exceed_o hinder_v the_o comfort_n of_o his_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o o_o how_o just_o may_v the_o lord_n abray_v thou_o and_o say_v what_o do_v i_o set_v that_o infinite_a wisdom_n of_o my_o a_o work_n to_o find_v out_o such_o a_o way_n of_o reconciliation_n with_o thou_o and_o be_v it_o worth_a no_o
