have_v more_o form_n but_o these_o element_n be_v of_o a_o weak_a life_n see_v they_o move_v but_o one_o way_n also_o they_o be_v of_o a_o weak_a life_n because_o every_o one_o of_o they_o have_v a_o contrary_a in_o manifest_a opposition_n to_o they_o which_o resist_v they_o in_o that_o whereunto_o their_o nature_n incline_v and_o labour_v to_o spoil_v they_o of_o their_o form_n and_o therefore_o their_o essence_n be_v infirm_a and_o weak_a but_o that_o the_o plant_n be_v of_o a_o strong_a life_n and_o the_o animal_n be_v yet_o of_o a_o more_o manifest_a life_n than_o they_o and_o that_o because_o if_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n among_o these_o compound_n wherein_o the_o nature_n of_o one_o element_n have_v dominion_n that_o because_o of_o the_o power_n it_o have_v therein_o do_v overcome_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o other_o element_n and_o do_v abolish_v their_o strength_n so_o that_o the_o compound_n be_v in_o the_o power_n of_o that_o element_n which_o have_v dominion_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v dispose_v but_o unto_o a_o small_a portion_n of_o life_n as_o the_o element_n itself_o be_v but_o when_o among_o these_o compound_n there_o be_v that_o wherein_o the_o nature_n of_o any_o one_o element_n have_v not_o dominion_n than_o all_o be_v of_o a_o equal_a temperament_n therein_o and_o of_o equal_a virtue_n so_o that_o the_o one_o do_v not_o weaken_v the_o virtue_n of_o another_o more_o than_o that_o other_o do_v of_o that_o one_o but_o they_o work_v upon_o one_o another_o in_o a_o equal_a operation_n nor_o be_v the_o operation_n of_o one_o element_n observable_a more_o than_o the_o operation_n of_o another_o and_o it_o be_v far_o from_o be_v like_a unto_o any_o one_o of_o the_o element_n but_o that_o it_o be_v as_o if_o nothing_o be_v contrary_a to_o its_o form_n that_o in_o this_o manner_n become_v fit_a for_o life_n and_o the_o great_a that_o this_o equality_n be_v and_o the_o more_o perfect_a and_o the_o further_a from_o incline_v unto_o the_o other_o part_n it_o be_v so_o far_o the_o further_a from_o have_v a_o contrary_a and_o its_o life_n be_v the_o more_o perfect_a and_o whereas_o the_o animal_n spirit_n the_o seat_n whereof_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n be_v of_o a_o most_o equal_a temperature_n for_o it_o be_v more_o subtle_a than_o earth_n and_o water_n and_o more_o gross_a than_o fire_n and_o air_n it_o have_v the_o manner_n of_o a_o midst_n or_o medium_n contrary_a unto_o none_o of_o the_o element_n in_o any_o observable_a manner_n of_o contrariety_n and_o so_o it_o be_v dispose_v unto_o the_o form_n which_o do_v constitute_v a_o animal_n and_o that_o which_o follow_v he_o see_v to_o be_v this_o to_o wit_n that_o the_o most_o equal_a in_o temperature_n among_o these_o animal_n spirit_n be_v dispose_v to_o the_o most_o perfect_a life_n in_o the_o generable_a and_o corruptible_a world_n and_o that_o it_o may_v near_o be_v say_v concern_v that_o spirit_n that_o there_o be_v no_o contrary_a unto_o its_o form_n and_o therefore_o that_o it_o be_v like_a unto_o these_o heavenly_a body_n which_o have_v nothing_o contrary_a unto_o their_o form_n and_o that_o therefore_o they_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o that_o animal_n which_o have_v the_o most_o perfect_a life_n because_o it_o be_v indeed_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o element_n neither_o simple_o move_v itself_o upward_o nor_o downward_o and_o if_o it_o can_v be_v place_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o that_o space_n which_o lie_v betwixt_o the_o centre_n and_o that_o supreme_a place_n whither_o the_o fire_n reach_v and_o that_o no_o corruption_n it_o can_v not_o be_v otherwise_o and_o therefore_o that_o it_o be_v very_o like_a unto_o the_o heavenly_a body_n and_o when_o he_o consider_v the_o property_n of_o the_o animal_n and_o see_v not_o one_o among_o they_o of_o which_o he_o can_v suspect_v that_o it_o have_v the_o knowledge_n of_o this_o necessary_a existent_n be_v but_o that_o he_o know_v that_o as_o to_o his_o own_o essence_n he_o do_v know_v it_o thence_o he_o conclude_v that_o he_o be_v a_o animal_n that_o have_v a_o spirit_n of_o a_o equal_a temperature_n like_v unto_o all_o the_o heavenly_a body_n and_o it_o be_v manifest_a be_v attribute_v any_o of_o these_o thing_n which_o be_v attribute_v unto_o the_o body_n and_o that_o it_o can_v be_v apprehend_v by_o any_o of_o the_o sense_n nor_o by_o imagination_n and_o who_o knowledge_n be_v not_o acquire_v by_o any_o other_o instrument_n then_o by_o itself_o but_o that_o it_o come_v unto_o it_o by_o its_o own_o help_n and_o that_o it_o be_v the_o know_v the_o knowable_a and_o the_o knowledge_n and_o the_o scient_a the_o science_n and_o the_o scibile_fw-la nor_o that_o in_o any_o of_o these_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n different_a see_v diversity_n and_o separation_n belong_v to_o the_o attribute_n of_o body_n and_o be_v the_o adjunct_n of_o they_o but_o this_o be_v neither_o a_o body_n nor_o any_o attribute_n of_o a_o body_n nor_o any_o thing_n adherent_a unto_o a_o body_n and_o when_o the_o way_n be_v manifest_a unto_o he_o whereby_o it_o be_v proper_a to_o he_o to_o be_v like_a unto_o the_o heavenly_a body_n he_o see_v it_o do_v necessary_o belong_v to_o more_o noble_a part_n by_o which_o he_o know_v that_o necessary_a existent_n be_v that_o there_o be_v in_o himself_o some_o similitude_n thereof_o as_o he_o be_v separate_v from_o the_o attribute_n of_o the_o body_n as_o that_o necessary_a existent_n be_v be_v separate_v from_o they_o he_o see_v also_o that_o it_o be_v his_o duty_n to_o labour_v to_o acquire_v the_o property_n thereof_o by_o from_o he_o as_o meat_n drink_z and_o marriage_n also_o he_o see_v that_o his_o body_n be_v not_o create_v in_o vain_a nor_o join_v to_o he_o for_o no_o end_n and_o that_o it_o belong_v to_o he_o to_o provide_v for_o it_o and_o fit_o to_o keep_v it_o but_o that_o he_o can_v not_o perform_v this_o care_n but_o by_o some_o action_n answer_v unto_o the_o action_n of_o other_o animal_n but_o the_o action_n which_o seem_v necessary_a unto_o he_o have_v a_o threefold_a respect_n for_o they_o be_v either_o a_o action_n by_o which_o he_o do_v resemble_v the_o unreasonable_a animal_n or_o some_o action_n whereby_o he_o do_v resemble_v the_o heavenly_a body_n or_o some_o action_n whereby_o he_o do_v resemble_v that_o necessary_a existent_n be_v for_o the_o first_o assimilation_n be_v necessary_a to_o he_o as_o he_o have_v a_o obscure_a and_o gross_a body_n consist_v of_o distinct_a member_n and_o various_a faculty_n and_o motion_n of_o diverse_a sort_n the_o second_o assimilation_n be_v necessary_a unto_o he_o as_o he_o have_v a_o animal_n spirit_n the_o seat_n whereof_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o which_o be_v the_o beginning_n of_o the_o whole_a body_n and_o of_o the_o faculty_n contain_v therein_o then_o the_o three_o assimilation_n be_v necessary_a to_o he_o as_o he_o be_v himself_o i._n e._n as_o he_o be_v that_o essence_n by_o which_o he_o can_v know_v that_o necessary_a existent_n be_v and_o this_o be_v first_o of_o all_o certain_a unto_o he_o that_o his_o happiness_n and_o freedom_n from_o misery_n be_v place_v in_o the_o perpetual_a vision_n of_o that_o necessary_a existent_n be_v so_o as_o to_o be_v in_o that_o state_n as_o not_o to_o be_v turn_v away_o or_o avert_v therefrom_o for_o one_o moment_n then_o he_o consider_v the_o way_n whereby_o this_o continuation_n may_v be_v acquire_v and_o his_o contemplation_n thence_o gather_v that_o he_o be_v to_o exercise_v himself_o in_o these_o three_o sort_n of_o similitude_n and_o as_o to_o the_o first_o similitude_n that_o from_o the_o same_o he_o attain_v nothing_o of_o this_o vision_n but_o that_o it_o rather_o draw_v he_o forth_o to_o another_o thing_n and_o it_o be_v a_o hindrance_n to_o he_o when_o he_o exercise_v himself_o in_o sensible_a thing_n for_o all_o sensible_a thing_n be_v as_o a_o vail_n interpose_v unto_o this_o vision_n yet_o this_o assimilation_n be_v needful_a to_o preserve_v the_o animal_n spirit_n whereby_o the_o second_o assimilation_n be_v acquire_v which_o be_v with_o heavenly_a body_n and_o after_o this_o manner_n it_o be_v necessary_o require_v although_o it_o be_v not_o free_a from_o that_o hurt_n but_o as_o to_o the_o second_o conformity_n that_o thereby_o be_v acquire_v a_o great_a part_n of_o the_o continue_a vision_n but_o yet_o such_o a_o vision_n as_o wherein_o there_o be_v a_o mixture_n whereas_o every_o one_o who_o by_o that_o manner_n of_o vision_n continual_o see_v see_v also_o together_o his_o own_o essence_n and_o look_v into_o that_o as_o shall_v be_v afterward_o declare_v but_o as_o to_o the_o three_o conformity_n that_o thereby_o the_o perfect_a vision_n be_v attain_v and_o the_o sincere_a attention_n have_v no_o respect_n in_o any_o manner_n but_o unto_o that_o necessary_a existent_n be_v whereas_o his_o essence_n be_v absent_a from_o he_o who_o see_v this_o vision_n and_o evanish_v and_o become_v as_o nothing_o as_o also_o all_o the_o other_o essence_n whether_o many_o or_o few_o except_o the_o essence_n of_o that_o one_o true_a necessary_a existent_a great_a high_a and_o powerful_a be_v and_o when_o it_o be_v manifest_a to_o he_o that_o the_o sum_n of_o his_o desire_n consist_v in_o this_o three_o conformity_n but_o that_o this_o be_v not_o acquire_v but_o after_o exercise_n and_o pain_n give_v for_o a_o long_a time_n to_o the_o second_o conformity_n and_o this_o space_n can_v not_o be_v continue_v but_o by_o the_o first_o conformity_n which_o although_o it_o be_v necessary_a yet_o he_o know_v of_o itself_o it_o be_v a_o impediment_n though_o it_o be_v a_o help_n by_o accident_n he_o restrain_v his_o mind_n that_o he_o permit_v unto_o himself_o no_o part_n of_o the_o first_o conformity_n but_o as_o much_o as_o necessity_n require_v and_o that_o be_v in_o that_o largeness_n as_o less_o suffice_v not_o to_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o animal_n spirit_n and_o he_o see_v two_o thing_n which_o necessity_n require_v to_o the_o preservation_n of_o this_o spirit_n one_o that_o whatever_o nourishment_n he_o take_v it_o preserve_v the_o same_o inward_o and_o refresh_v it_o another_o that_o it_o preserve_v that_o which_o be_v external_a and_o repel_v from_o it_o diverse_a sort_n of_o hurt_n as_o of_o cold_a and_o heat_n and_o rain_n and_o the_o warmth_n of_o the_o sun_n and_o of_o hurtful_a animal_n and_o the_o like_a and_o he_o see_v if_o he_o do_v rash_o and_o hasty_o take_v any_o of_o these_o thing_n which_o be_v necessary_a it_o may_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v obnoxious_a to_o excess_n and_o shall_v take_v above_o what_o be_v fit_a and_o work_v against_o himself_o whence_o he_o do_v not_o consider_v therefore_o he_o see_v he_o will_v do_v most_o advise_o if_o he_o shall_v appoint_v limit_n to_o himself_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o at_o all_o transgress_v and_o measure_n which_o he_o shall_v not_o exceed_v and_o it_o be_v plain_a to_o he_o that_o he_o shall_v put_v this_o rule_n to_o himself_o about_o the_o kind_n of_o the_o thing_n which_o he_o shall_v eat_v and_o the_o quality_n of_o they_o and_o about_o their_o quantity_n and_o be_v plant_n not_o full_o ripe_a nor_o attain_v to_o full_a perfection_n such_o as_o the_o sort_n of_o green_a herb_n which_o a_o man_n can_v eat_v or_o the_o fruit_n of_o plant_n that_o be_v perfect_a and_o which_o be_v ripe_a and_o yield_v their_o seed_n that_o from_o thence_o other_o can_v be_v bring_v forth_o and_o these_o kind_n of_o fruit_n be_v both_o green_a and_o dry_a or_o to_o be_v some_o animal_n either_o belong_v to_o the_o earth_n or_o the_o sea_n which_o use_v to_o be_v eat_v now_o it_o be_v certain_a unto_o he_o that_o all_o these_o thing_n be_v make_v by_o that_o necessary_a existent_n be_v in_o the_o approach_n unto_o which_o

of_o the_o essence_n of_o that_o true_a be_v from_o which_o it_o be_v far_o distant_a and_o be_v free_a and_o in_o the_o same_o manner_n in_o the_o thing_n belong_v unto_o the_o way_n of_o reward_n and_o punishment_n the_o other_o be_v that_o he_o do_v not_o proceed_v beyond_o those_o precept_n and_o rite_n of_o worship_n and_o that_o he_o permit_v that_o man_n shall_v endeavour_v to_o seek_v after_o riches_n and_o that_o as_o to_o their_o feed_n they_o may_v enjoy_v their_o liberty_n so_o that_o they_o vain_o give_v themselves_o unto_o vain_a thing_n and_o turn_v themselves_o away_o from_o the_o truth_n see_v it_o be_v his_o own_o opinion_n that_o nothing_o ought_v to_o be_v take_v from_o any_o but_o to_o sustain_v the_o relic_n of_o the_o life_n but_o as_o to_o riches_n they_o be_v of_o no_o value_n with_o he_o also_o he_o see_v what_o be_v decree_v in_o the_o law_n concern_v the_o thing_n belong_v unto_o riches_n as_o to_o almsgiving_n and_o distribute_v of_o they_o and_o trading_n and_o usury_n and_o fine_n and_o punishment_n and_o all_o these_o thing_n seem_v strange_a unto_o he_o and_o he_o judge_v they_o superfluous_a and_o he_o say_v if_o man_n judge_v the_o matter_n according_a unto_o truth_n sure_o they_o will_v turn_v away_o themselves_o from_o these_o empty_a thing_n and_o follow_v the_o truth_n and_o so_o all_o this_o will_v be_v superfluous_a nor_o will_v any_o have_v that_o propriety_n in_o riches_n that_o these_o due_n shall_v be_v exact_v from_o he_o or_o that_o his_o hand_n shall_v be_v cut_v off_o for_o these_o thing_n secret_o take_v by_o stealth_n or_o that_o life_n shall_v be_v destroy_v for_o take_v they_o away_o open_o but_o that_o which_o put_v this_o opinion_n in_o his_o mind_n be_v that_o he_o think_v all_o man_n be_v of_o a_o ingenuous_a inclination_n and_o a_o sharp_a understanding_n and_o of_o mind_n constant_a unto_o themselves_o nor_o know_v he_o what_o dulness_n of_o mind_n they_o have_v what_o scarcity_n of_o spirit_n what_o evil_a counsel_n and_o what_o inconstancy_n of_o mind_n and_o that_o they_o be_v altogether_o like_o beast_n yea_o further_a err_a from_o the_o way_n therefore_o when_o he_o have_v a_o exceed_a great_a compassion_n upon_o man_n and_o desire_v that_o salvation_n may_v come_v unto_o they_o by_o his_o help_n a_o purpose_n of_o go_v unto_o they_o enter_v into_o his_o mind_n that_o he_o that_o if_o he_o can_v not_o instruct_v they_o much_o less_o can_v he_o instruct_v the_o vulgar_a sort_n of_o man_n now_o the_o prince_n and_o chief_a man_n of_o that_o island_n be_v salaman_n the_o friend_n of_o asal_n who_o think_v it_o best_a to_o join_v himself_o to_o the_o fellowship_n of_o man_n and_o think_v it_o unlawful_a to_o give_v up_o himself_o unto_o solitude_n so_o hai_o ebn-yokdhan_a begin_v to_o instruct_v they_o and_o to_o declare_v unto_o they_o the_o mystery_n of_o wisdom_n but_o when_o he_o have_v proceed_v a_o little_a beyond_o that_o which_o be_v plain_a and_o begin_v to_o explicat_fw-la that_o the_o contrary_a whereof_o have_v take_v place_n in_o their_o mind_n they_o begin_v to_o withdraw_v themselves_o from_o he_o and_o their_o mind_n abhor_v from_o that_o which_o he_o speak_v and_o they_o be_v angry_a with_o he_o in_o their_o heart_n although_o before_o he_o they_o carry_v a_o show_n of_o kindness_n and_o honour_v he_o so_o far_o as_o he_o be_v a_o stranger_n among_o they_o and_o out_o of_o their_o observance_n due_a unto_o their_o friend_n asal_n but_o hai_o ebn_n yokdhan_n cease_v not_o night_n and_o day_n to_o deal_v gentle_o with_o they_o and_o to_o manifest_v the_o truth_n unto_o they_o both_o private_o and_o public_o but_o that_o have_v no_o other_o effect_n but_o to_o increase_v their_o enmity_n against_o he_o and_o their_o fly_v from_o he_o although_o they_o be_v lover_n of_o that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o desirous_a of_o the_o truth_n but_o that_o from_o the_o defect_n of_o their_o nature_n they_o seek_v not_o the_o together_o the_o trifle_n of_o the_o world_n the_o desire_n of_o gain_v holding_z they_o deceive_v until_o they_o go_v to_o the_o grave_n but_o that_o no_o counsel_n prevail_v with_o they_o nor_o do_v have_v seal_v their_o heart_n and_o ear_n and_o a_o mist_n be_v before_o their_o eye_n and_o a_o great_a punishment_n abide_v they_o therefore_o when_o he_o see_v they_o encompass_v within_o the_o fat_v or_o cauldron_n of_o punishment_n and_o cover_v with_o curtain_n the_o darkness_n of_o a_o vail_n and_o that_o all_o of_o they_o except_o a_o few_o keep_v their_o religion_n no_o otherwise_o but_o with_o a_o respect_n unto_o the_o world_n and_o do_v cast_v behind_o their_o back_n their_o own_o work_n although_o they_o be_v light_a and_o easy_a and_o that_o they_o esteem_v slight_o of_o they_o and_o that_o merchandise_v and_o trade_n have_v occupy_v they_o and_o detain_v they_o from_o the_o remembrance_n of_o the_o most_o high_a god_n and_o that_o they_o never_o be_v afraid_a their_o
