a_o moment_n or_o the_o twinkle_n of_o a_o eye_n bring_v all_o thing_n before_o she_o and_o tell_v she_o all_o thing_n in_o her_o whole_a life_n and_o certain_o this_o be_v it_o that_o make_v she_o to_o believe_v he_o to_o be_v not_o only_o a_o prophet_n but_o more_o than_o a_o prophet_n even_o the_o true_a messiah_n or_o christ._n he_o who_o have_v tell_v i_o all_o that_o ever_o i_o do_v this_o must_v be_v christ_n this_o can_v but_o be_v more_o than_o any_o of_o the_o prophet_n who_o tell_v i_o some_o thing_n but_o no_o prophet_n can_v tell_v i_o all_o but_o christ_n only_o who_o be_v the_o true_a god_n and_o know_v all_o thing_n and_o search_v all_o my_o my_o inward_a part_n and_o thought_n 3._o as_o concern_v her_o call_n as_o be_v say_v she_o have_v it_o not_o from_o man_n and_o indeed_o we_o read_v not_o of_o any_o outward_a call_v she_o have_v from_o christ_n but_o certain_o he_o who_o teach_v she_o inward_o call_v she_o also_o inward_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n yea_o so_o powerful_a be_v her_o inward_a call_n and_o the_o motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n within_o she_o that_o it_o cause_v she_o to_o make_v haste_n she_o tarry_v not_o to_o carry_v home_o her_o water_n pot_n for_o it_o be_v say_v express_o she_o leave_v here_o waterpot_n and_o go_v into_o the_o city_n and_o say_v unto_o the_o man_n come_v see_v a_o man_n etc._n etc._n but_o as_o for_o their_o call_n it_o be_v whole_o from_o man_n and_o by_o man_n for_o as_o they_o deny_v all_o immediate_a teach_v so_o they_o deny_v immediate_a call_v unto_o the_o ministry_n yea_o their_o principle_n that_o immediate_a revelation_n be_v cease_v and_o that_o the_o scripture_n be_v the_o only_a rule_n oblige_v they_o to_o deny_v all_o immediate_a call_v as_o well_o as_o immediate_a teach_v behold_v then_o how_o she_o have_v this_o three_o qualification_n of_o a_o true_a preacher_n which_o they_o want_v she_o be_v call_v immediate_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n in_o her_o heart_n she_o run_v not_o unsent_a it_o appear_v the_o lord_n send_v she_o and_o be_v with_o she_o by_o his_o spirit_n by_o the_o good_a effect_n her_o testimony_n have_v for_o as_o it_o be_v say_v many_o of_o the_o samaritan_n of_o that_o city_n believe_v on_o he_o etc._n etc._n and_o this_o be_v through_o she_o preach_v they_o do_v not_o despise_v she_o because_o she_o be_v a_o woman_n they_o do_v not_o say_v unto_o she_o as_o many_o now_o say_v thou_o be_v a_o woman_n thou_o shall_v not_o preach_v neither_o do_v they_o say_v unto_o she_o thou_o be_v but_o ignorant_a and_o unlearned_a as_o man_n common_o say_v now_o unto_o our_o friend_n who_o god_n have_v teach_v by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n though_o they_o have_v not_o the_o tongue_n nor_o the_o natural_a art_n and_o university_n learning_n why_o do_v you_o preach_v who_o be_v unlearned_a and_o have_v not_o be_v at_o the_o university_n i_o say_v these_o man_n they_o neither_o upbraid_v she_o with_o her_o be_v a_o woman_n nor_o second_o with_o her_o be_v unlearned_a nor_o three_o that_o she_o want_v her_o call_n and_o be_v idle_a or_o meddle_v with_o a_o business_n that_o do_v not_o concern_v she_o they_o do_v not_o say_v unto_o she_o go_v home_o to_o your_o wheel_n and_o your_o spin_v and_o such_o like_a word_n as_o man_n commodly_a now_o say_v to_o woman_n friend_n who_o the_o lord_n have_v teach_v and_o call_v by_o his_o spirit_n to_o testify_v of_o he_o as_o he_o do_v this_o woman_n of_o samaria_n nor_o four_a do_v they_o upbraid_v she_o with_o the_o place_n as_o man_n common_o also_o now_o do_v who_o wonder_n and_o gaze_v and_o mock_v and_o scorn_v if_o they_o see_v or_o hear_v any_o speak_v any_o thing_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o street_n o_o say_v they_o this_o be_v not_o the_o church_n go_v to_o church_n if_o you_o will_v preach_v this_o be_v not_o a_o fit_a place_n to_o preach_v in_o these_o man_n of_o the_o city_n do_v not_o so_o unto_o this_o woman_n though_o she_o come_v unto_o they_o and_o speak_v unto_o they_o where_o she_o first_o find_v they_o which_o may_v be_v in_o the_o street_n or_o any_o where_o else_o 4._o also_o this_o woman_n no_o doubt_n very_o unexpected_o and_o far_o from_o any_o design_n she_o have_v before_o have_v unto_o this_o work_n become_v a_o preacher_n little_o know_v she_o or_o little_o do_v she_o think_v before_o she_o meet_v with_o christ_n and_o hear_v he_o that_o she_o shall_v preach_v he_o nay_o very_o she_o know_v nothing_o of_o it_o at_o all_o nor_o have_v she_o any_o such_o design_n before_o hand_n far_o contrary_a unto_o these_o preacher_n of_o the_o man-made-ministry_n who_o have_v design_v it_o long_o before_o hand_n and_o it_o be_v a_o design_n of_o their_o parent_n and_o relation_n even_o from_o their_o childhood_n yea_o this_o be_v the_o end_n and_o final_a move_a cause_n of_o their_o be_v send_v first_o to_o the_o grammar-school_n and_o then_o to_o the_o university_n a_o design_n they_o shall_v be_v preacher_n quod_fw-la est_fw-la ultimum_fw-la in_o executione_fw-la est_fw-la primum_fw-la in_o intention_n i._n e._n what_o be_v last_o in_o execution_n be_v first_o in_o intention_n so_o it_o be_v first_o of_o all_o intend_a a_o father_n have_v three_o son_n one_o of_o they_o he_o think_v may_v be_v fit_a to_o be_v make_v a_o lawyer_n another_o to_o be_v a_o doctor_n of_o physic_n a_o three_o and_o that_o common_o the_o great_a dunce_n or_o dolt_n of_o the_o three_o find_v he_o not_o so_o fit_a for_o other_o thing_n he_o resolve_v he_o will_v have_v he_o a_o minister_n or_o preacher_n that_o it_o may_v be_v a_o live_n to_o he_o and_o so_o away_o be_v sendâ—_n they_o all_o to_o the_o grammar_n school_n and_o from_o that_o to_o the_o university_n and_o thus_o one_o become_v a_o preacher_n only_o by_o that_o which_o be_v natural_a and_o artificial_a as_o the_o other_o two_o become_v the_o lawyer_n and_o physician_n here_o be_v nothing_o of_o god_n or_o christ_n see_v more_o in_o the_o one_o than_o in_o the_o other_o be_v it_o not_o so_o general_o among_o they_o they_o be_v become_v preacher_n by_o a_o design_n or_o contrivance_n of_o their_o parent_n or_o themselves_o as_o soon_o as_o they_o become_v but_o so_o old_a as_o to_o have_v so_o much_o natural_a wit_n as_o to_o see_v they_o must_v make_v some_o shift_n how_o to_o live_v and_o look_v about_o the_o many_o trade_n they_o ready_o see_v it_o be_v the_o far_o easy_a of_o many_o or_o most_o trade_n to_o be_v a_o preacher_n to_o get_v money_n for_o it_o be_v little_a labour_n in_o respect_n of_o many_o other_o labour_n and_o much_o gain_n and_o also_o bring_v honour_n for_o if_o he_o have_v be_v of_o never_o so_o mean_a a_o degree_n and_o of_o the_o most_o abject_a and_o mean_a parent_n in_o all_o the_o country_n yet_o to_o become_v a_o preacher_n make_v he_o to_o be_v esteem_v a_o gentleman_n and_o be_v call_v sir_n and_o perhaps_o to_o be_v advance_v to_o be_v a_o bishop_n and_o then_o he_o will_v be_v call_v my_o lord_n but_o how_o many_o either_o of_o one_o sort_n or_o another_o of_o they_o whether_o episcopal_a or_o presbiterian_a be_v to_o be_v find_v who_o have_v be_v call_v from_o some_o other_o call_v or_o occupation_n they_o be_v in_o before_o to_o leave_v it_o and_o go_v to_o preach_v christ_n as_o this_o woman_n be_v call_v from_o her_o water_n pot_n immediate_o to_o go_v preach_v he_o in_o a_o city_n of_o samaria_n call_v sychar_n and_o yet_o thus_o be_v the_o true_a servant_n of_o the_o lord_n call_v who_o be_v mechanic_n man_n and_o tradesman_n both_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n elisha_n be_v call_v from_o the_o plough_n amos_n from_o the_o herd_n who_o be_v a_o herd-man_n and_o a_o gather_v of_o sycomore_n fruit_n and_o the_o apostle_n many_o or_o most_o of_o they_o from_o their_o fishnet_n who_o be_v fisher_n matthew_n from_o the_o receipt_n of_o custom_n who_o be_v a_o publican_n and_o luke_n be_v a_o physician_n and_o paul_n a_o tentmaker_n and_o so_o most_o part_n of_o all_o who_o god_n ever_o send_v to_o preach_v have_v their_o employment_n before_o and_o not_o one_o ever_o become_v a_o preacher_n by_o a_o humane_a design_n or_o intention_n before_o hand_n in_o order_n unto_o a_o live_n and_o to_o get_v money_n as_o they_o do_v and_o so_o this_o be_v a_o four_o difference_n betwixt_o this_o woman-preacher_n of_o samaria_n and_o they_o wherein_o she_o excel_v they_o her_o preach_v be_v not_o any_o humane_a design_n either_o of_o she_o or_o any_o man_n or_o man_n else_o
not_o all_o he_o must_v be_v christ_n who_o be_v god_n and_o as_o i_o say_v before_o this_o be_v inward_o and_o not_o outward_o he_o can_v not_o tell_v she_o outward_o all_o that_o ever_o she_o do_v in_o so_o short_a a_o time_n but_o inward_o he_o can_v in_o a_o moment_n even_o as_o the_o outward_a light_n of_o the_o sun_n in_o a_o moment_n represent_v thing_n unto_o our_o eye_n in_o the_o outward_a and_o let_v we_o see_v in_o a_o moment_n all_o at_o once_o as_o it_o be_v a_o thousand_o thing_n and_o thus_o she_o be_v teach_v and_o thus_o she_o reason_v concern_v he_o and_o thus_o also_o have_v the_o lord_n teach_v we_o to_o reason_n concern_v he_o he_o who_o have_v in_o ward_o convince_v we_o of_o our_o sin_n and_o tell_v we_o all_o the_o sin_n that_o ever_o we_o do_v and_o bring_v they_o to_o remembrance_n before_o we_o when_o we_o have_v forget_v they_o or_o cast_v they_o behind_o our_o back_n this_o be_v the_o christ_n this_o light_n in_o we_o must_v be_v the_o light_n of_o christ_n or_o this_o he_o in_o we_o must_v be_v the_o christ_n and_o not_o any_o mere_a humane_a or_o natural_a light_n this_o must_v be_v divine_a spiritual_n and_o save_v yea_o the_o saviour_n the_o christ_n so_o she_o preach_v he_o and_o so_o the_o lord_n have_v teach_v we_o to_o preach_v he_o but_o so_o do_v not_o these_o man_n of_o the_o man-made-ministry_n preach_v he_o nay_o but_o the_o contrary_a for_o say_v they_o that_o be_v not_o christ_n which_o convince_v every_o man_n of_o his_o sin_n and_o tell_v he_o all_o that_o ever_o he_o do_v it_o be_v but_o a_o humane_a principle_n not_o divine_a it_o be_v but_o natural_a not_o spiritual_a a_o natural_a light_n and_o so_o instead_o of_o preach_v he_o thus_o as_o he_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o people_n convince_a they_o of_o sin_n and_o show_v they_o their_o sin_n they_o plain_o deny_v he_o they_o confess_v they_o without_o but_o deny_v he_o within_o and_o so_o deny_v his_o divinity_n and_o divine_a power_n and_o godhead_n for_o if_o he_o be_v god_n be_v he_o not_o within_o and_o that_o both_o in_o believer_n and_o unbeliever_n do_v he_o not_o by_o his_o spirit_n convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n be_v he_o not_o the_o light_n of_o the_o world_n who_o light_v every_o man_n that_o come_v into_o the_o world_n that_o all_o man_n through_o he_o may_v believe_v as_o john_n declare_v chap._n 1._o yea_o so_o contrary_a be_v they_o unto_o the_o be_v of_o christ_n within_o that_o they_o plain_o and_o open_o deny_v he_o to_o be_v real_o and_o proper_o and_o immediate_o or_o essential_o within_o his_o saint_n yea_o to_o say_v that_o he_o be_v they_o call_v it_o blasphemy_n o_o say_v they_o he_o be_v in_o we_o by_o his_o grace_n and_o by_o his_o operation_n or_o virtue_n but_o not_o immediate_o or_o essential_o he_o be_v in_o we_o say_v they_o immediatione_fw-la virtutis_fw-la but_o not_o immediatione_fw-la suppositi_fw-la i._n e._n he_o be_v in_o we_o immediate_o by_o his_o virtue_n but_o not_o by_o himself_o as_o the_o sun_n appear_v in_o we_o by_o his_o virtue_n or_o heat_n yea_o the_o real_a in-being_a of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n by_o himself_o they_o have_v general_o deny_v and_o judge_v some_o among_o themselves_o who_o have_v affirm_v it_o and_o yet_o how_o clear_a and_o full_o be_v the_o scripture_n unto_o this_o truth_n that_o christ_n be_v not_o only_o in_o all_o man_n by_o his_o light_n but_o also_o uphold_v all_o thing_n by_o his_o word_n and_o power_n which_o can_v be_v separate_v from_o he_o and_o if_o he_o be_v not_o every_o where_o he_o can_v not_o be_v infinite_a and_o as_o he_o be_v in_o all_o so_o he_o have_v his_o several_a way_n of_o operation_n and_o manifestation_n in_o all_o in_o unbeliever_n after_o one_o manner_n and_o in_o believer_n in_o another_o according_a unto_o their_o several_a capacity_n and_o condition_n 8._o she_o preach_v he_o as_o one_o they_o can_v both_o come_v unto_o and_o see_v immediate_o as_o she_o have_v hear_v he_o and_o see_v he_o herself_o so_o she_o have_v a_o great_a desire_n that_o they_o also_o may_v see_v he_o come_v and_o see_v say_v she_o she_o do_v not_o thus_o preach_v unto_o they_o it_o be_v enough_o for_o your_o faith_n o_o you_o man_n of_o samaria_n that_o other_o have_v hear_v of_o christ_n and_o see_v he_o and_o from_o what_o they_o have_v hear_v and_o see_v to_o have_v report_v of_o he_o unto_o you_o oh_o nay_o but_o come_v and_o see_v and_o after_o this_o manner_n do_v all_o the_o true_a servant_n of_o god_n preach_v unto_o peopole_n o_o taste_n and_o see_v say_v david_n that_o which_o we_o have_v hear_v and_o see_v we_o declare_v unto_o you_o say_v john_n in_o the_o name_n of_o all_o his_o brethren_n that_o you_o may_v have_v fellowship_n with_o we_o that_o you_o may_v hear_v with_o we_o and_o see_v with_o we_o and_o handle_v with_o we_o of_o that_o word_n of_o life_n but_o so_o do_v not_o these_o man_n of_o the_o man-made-ministry_n neither_o episcopal_a presbyterian_a nor_o independent_a so_o call_v none_o of_o they_o all_o say_v or_o preach_v come_v and_o see_v christ_n himself_o or_o hear_v himself_o nay_o nay_o that_o be_v all_o cease_v say_v they_o christ_n be_v go_v into_o heaven_n and_o will_v not_o come_v again_o till_o the_o last_o day_n he_o have_v leave_v we_o the_o scripture_n and_o the_o sacrament_n in_o his_o room_n we_o can_v know_v he_o otherwise_o but_o by_o these_o visible_a thing_n we_o can_v see_v himself_o nor_o hear_v himself_o all_o immediate_a revelation_n be_v cease_v there_o be_v no_o vision_n of_o god_n or_o christ_n to_o be_v expect_v in_o this_o life_n nor_o immediate_a teach_n or_o hear_v of_o christ_n himself_n o_o sad_a and_o comfortless_a doctrine_n but_o this_o be_v their_o doctrine_n nor_o christ_n i_o will_v rather_o hear_v this_o woman_n of_o samaria_n than_o hear_v they_o she_o bid_v come_v and_o see_v christ_n himself_o they_o say_v there_o be_v no_o see_v of_o he_o nor_o hear_v of_o himself_o so_o long_o as_o we_o live_v upon_o earth_n oh_o blind_a and_o deaf_a man_n who_o because_o they_o have_v neither_o hear_v he_o nor_o see_v he_o therefore_o deny_v this_o bless_a privilege_n oh_o that_o people_n shall_v follow_v after_o they_o and_o not_o see_v these_o blind_a man_n what_o great_a matter_n can_v they_o tell_v of_o christ_n what_o great_a or_o excellent_a thing_n can_v they_o attain_v by_o their_o preach_v who_o deny_v that_o they_o can_v either_o hear_v he_o or_o see_v he_o while_o they_o be_v upon_o earth_n but_o who_o in_o some_o measure_n hear_v he_o not_o nor_o see_v he_o while_n on_o earth_n be_v this_o tell_v unto_o you_o as_o from_o the_o lord_n it_o will_v be_v in_o vain_a for_o you_o to_o think_v to_o hear_v he_o or_o see_v he_o to_o your_o comfort_n and_o joy_n hereafter_o 9_o again_o the_o method_n of_o this_o woman_n preach_v be_v not_o like_o their_o school_n method_n who_o make_v a_o tale_n of_o a_o hour_n length_n and_o yet_o never_o come_v to_o the_o matter_n itself_o who_o take_v a_o text_n from_o some_o place_n of_o scripture_n and_o raise_v from_o it_o so_o many_o point_n of_o doctrine_n which_o they_o have_v study_v so_o long_o before_o hand_n and_o must_v study_v a_o day_n and_o some_o perhaps_o two_o or_o three_o day_n to_o preach_v one_o hour_n and_o then_o to_o deliver_v off_o unto_o the_o people_n that_o dry_a dead_a and_o barren_a stuff_n that_o they_o have_v scrape_v and_o gather_v together_o out_o of_o so_o many_o old_a and_o worm_n eat_v author_n which_o they_o can_v say_v be_v their_o experience_n and_o have_v not_o receive_v it_o from_o the_o lord_n but_o they_o be_v thief_n and_o have_v steal_v it_o yea_o perhaps_o it_o be_v a_o hundred_o time_n steal_v have_v come_v through_o so_o many_o hand_n who_o have_v steal_v the_o word_n of_o god_n concern_v the_o condition_n and_o experience_n of_o the_o saint_n as_o the_o false_a teacher_n and_o prophet_n of_o old_a of_o who_o the_o lord_n say_v jer._n 23._o behold_v i_o be_o against_o these_o prophet_n who_o steal_v my_o word_n etc._n etc._n they_o shall_v not_o profit_v the_o people_n at_o all_o and_o be_v not_o this_o fulfil_v abundant_o where_o be_v the_o profit_v of_o the_o people_n do_v they_o not_o remain_v still_o in_o their_o sin_n and_o wickedness_n and_o as_o for_o these_o make_v and_o compose_v sermon_n by_o art_n and_o cunning_a of_o man_n wisdom_n and_o spirit_n it_o be_v plain_a deceit_n and_o be_v express_o so_o call_v in_o scripture_n where_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o with_o feign_a word_n the_o false_a teacher_n shall_v make_v merchandise_n of_o the_o people_n according_a unto_o the_o greek_a proper_o and_o true_o it_o be_v thus_o with_o make_v
or_o compose_v speech_n or_o discourse_n they_o shall_v make_v merchandise_n of_o you_o and_o so_o it_o be_v see_v at_o this_o day_n for_o as_o they_o make_v their_o sermon_n by_o art_n and_o take_v great_a pain_n as_o they_o say_v to_o compose_v and_o frame_v they_o so_o they_o make_v merchandise_n of_o they_o and_o sell_v they_o unto_o the_o people_n for_o money_n yea_o cause_n people_n to_o give_v they_o money_n over_o and_o over_o again_o for_o the_o same_o and_o thus_o they_o they_o beguile_v they_o and_o make_v merchandise_n of_o they_o also_o so_o do_v not_o this_o woman_n she_o do_v not_o go_v home_o and_o study_v what_o she_o shall_v say_v but_o she_o speak_v what_o free_o rise_v in_o her_o heart_n as_o the_o lord_n teach_v she_o and_o though_o her_o word_n be_v but_o few_o yet_o they_o be_v very_o material_a and_o weighty_a and_o come_v no_o doubt_n from_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n reveal_v in_o she_o for_o her_o own_o wisdom_n can_v never_o have_v teach_v she_o such_o excellent_a word_n and_o so_o excellent_o to_o prove_v that_o he_o be_v the_o christ_n from_o her_o own_o experience_n he_o have_v tell_v i_o all_o that_o ever_o i_o do_v be_v not_o this_o the_o christ_n 10._o her_o preach_v have_v this_o good_a effect_n they_o come_v unto_o he_o see_v himself_o and_o hear_v he_o and_o as_o some_o believe_v because_o of_o the_o woman_n saying_n so_o it_o be_v say_v many_o more_o believe_v because_o of_o his_o own_o word_n and_o then_o their_o faith_n have_v sure_a foot_n and_o find_v the_o right_a foundation_n to_o wit_n his_o own_o word_n then_o they_o generral_o come_v to_o hear_v himself_o and_o so_o believe_v because_o they_o hear_v himself_o as_o they_o declare_v themselves_o yet_o she_o be_v a_o occasion_n unto_o they_o by_o her_o speak_n but_o who_o have_v these_o of_o the_o man-made-ministry_n bring_v this_o length_n that_o they_o be_v come_v unto_o christ_n himself_o and_o hear_v he_o and_o see_v he_o nay_o both_o teacher_n and_o people_n cry_v out_o general_o this_o be_v not_o to_o be_v expect_v in_o this_o life_n all_o vision_n and_o revelation_n be_v cease_v and_o no_o doubt_n as_o they_o come_v unto_o he_o outward_o and_o hear_v he_o and_o see_v he_o outward_o so_o they_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o hear_v and_o see_v he_o inward_o otherwise_o they_o can_v not_o have_v believe_v in_o he_o nor_o love_v he_o as_o they_o do_v nor_o be_v bless_v by_o he_o if_o they_o have_v not_o see_v he_o and_o hear_v he_o with_o another_o eye_n than_o the_o outward_a which_o many_o hear_v he_o and_o see_v he_o he_o with_o who_o remain_v unbeliever_n and_o be_v not_o bless_v and_o so_o now_o by_o these_o ten_o instance_n it_o be_v manifest_a how_o this_o woman-preacher_n of_o samaria_n be_v a_o better_a preacher_n than_o any_o of_o the_o men-preacher_n of_o the_o man-made-ministry_n who_o call_v the_o man_n of_o sychar_n out_o of_o the_o city_n unto_o iacob_n well_o to_o see_v christ_n now_o sychar_n signify_v drunkenness_n and_o do_v fit_o answer_v unto_o the_o natural_a and_o unconvert_v state_n and_o now_o iacob_n well_n typefi_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v the_o well_o of_o living-water_n in_o true_a believer_n and_o so_o out_o of_o the_o natural_a state_n and_o spirit_n of_o this_o world_n she_o call_v they_o unto_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n there_o to_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o to_o see_v he_o the_o 29_o of_o the_o first_o month_n 1673._o postscript_n but_o say_v the_o men-preacher_n of_o the_o man_n made-ministry_n woman_n ought_v not_o to_o preach_v because_o the_o apostle_n
