in_o general_a and_o it_o be_v suppose_v that_o all_o man_n do_v look_v upon_o themselves_o as_o sinner_n and_o acknowledge_v themselves_o to_o be_v sinner_n although_o they_o have_v not_o such_o a_o particular_a and_o sensible_a conviction_n thereof_o object_n but_o do_v not_o christ_n say_v that_o the_o whole_a need_v not_o the_o physician_n but_o they_o that_o be_v sick_a import_v that_o they_o must_v first_o know_v their_o sin_n and_o be_v sick_a with_o the_o sense_n thereof_o answ_n i_o have_v in_o a_o print_a sermon_n elsewhere_o answer_v that_o objection_n and_o clear_v that_o and_o such_o scripture_n yet_o observe_v this_o that_o our_o saviour_n do_v not_o intend_v there_o place_n so_o that_o bless_a gospel_n preacher_n mr._n bridges_n expound_v the_o place_n sinner_n that_o do_v see_v themselves_o lose_v but_o those_o that_o be_v so_o also_o the_o gentile_a sinner_n with_o the_o jew_n so_o call_v and_o account_v object_n but_o be_v it_o not_o the_o first_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o convince_v man_n of_o sin_n john_n 16.8_o answ_n by_o sin_n in_o that_o place_n be_v mean_v the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n as_o our_o saviour_n expound_v it_o of_o sin_n say_v he_o and_o set_v down_o as_o the_o first_o principle_n in_o heb._n 6._o yet_o understand_v what_o this_o word_n repentance_n signify_v this_o word_n in_o the_o greek_a signify_v as_o much_o as_o alter_v or_o change_v your_o mind_n and_o be_v speak_v to_o the_o jew_n doubtless_o be_v mean_v as_o much_o as_o this_o have_v other_o thought_n of_o christ_n than_o you_o have_v and_o believe_v his_o gospel_n and_o do_v no_o more_o conceive_v of_o he_o as_o you_o have_v do_v as_o not_o to_o be_v the_o true_a christ_n and_o mr._n perkins_n on_o gal._n 3.11_o in_o answer_n to_o a_o objection_n say_v indeed_o the_o law_n do_v not_o teach_v true_a repentance_n neither_o be_v it_o any_o cause_n of_o it_o but_o only_a anoccasion_n the_o gospel_n only_o prescribe_v repentance_n and_o the_o practice_n thereof_o and_o when_o the_o apostle_n call_v it_o a_o principle_n yet_o he_o also_o there_o call_v it_o a_o principle_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o christ_n include_v it_o in_o the_o gospel_n and_o doubtless_o a_o mere_a legal_a repentance_n be_v no_o way_n available_a to_o salvation_n object_n if_o the_o law_n be_v not_o to_o be_v preach_v first_o when_o and_o to_o who_o be_v the_o law_n to_o be_v preach_v answ_n 1._o the_o law_n be_v to_o be_v preach_v after_o the_o gospel_n and_o unto_o justiciaries_n or_o such_o as_o do_v justify_v themselves_o as_o the_o jew_n do_v and_o that_o think_v by_o misunderstand_v the_o law_n that_o they_o keep_v the_o law_n and_o work_v the_o righteousness_n that_o the_o law_n require_v thus_o christ_n do_v preach_v the_o law_n matth._n 5._o and_o thus_o
