partaker_n of_o this_o grace_n and_o aught_o to_o endeavour_n themselves_o by_o all_o mean_v possible_a to_o receive_v the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o more_o and_o more_o to_o persevere_v and_o continue_v in_o receive_v of_o the_o same_o we_o see_v the_o elder_a sort_n to_o be_v more_o hard_o heart_a and_o obstinate_a than_o the_o rest_n and_o the_o young_a people_n to_o be_v give_v over_o to_o all_o kind_n of_o lewdness_n so_o that_o if_o they_o be_v tell_v of_o their_o dissoluteness_n they_o wax_v so_o mad_a and_o furious_a as_o that_o it_o shall_v seem_v they_o will_v mar_v all_o and_o when_o man_n shall_v be_v manlyke_a and_o sharp_a witted_a to_o give_v diligent_a heed_n unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n they_o be_v become_v as_o blockish_a as_o bruit_v beast_n and_o where_o the_o woman_n also_o shall_v be_v humble_a and_o walk_v sober_o and_o honest_o they_o be_v extreme_a dissolute_a and_o too_o too_o gallant_a and_o full_a of_o all_o superfluous_a vain_a vanity_n and_o therefore_o if_o now_o we_o see_v not_o man_n enjoy_v the_o grace_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o god_n here_o speak_v of_o that_o he_o will_v pour_v out_o upon_o his_o servant_n and_o handmaid_n it_o be_v not_o because_o he_o have_v change_v any_o whit_n his_o determination_n and_o purpose_n but_o by_o reason_n we_o will_v not_o suffer_v he_o to_o do_v we_o good_a for_o when_o he_o come_v near_o we_o we_o must_v not_o do_v as_o many_o of_o the_o papist_n do_v who_o neither_o care_n for_o god_n nor_o his_o word_n but_o content_v themselves_o only_o with_o this_o bare_a name_n of_o a_o christian_a church_n beléeve_v let_v they_o also_o be_v ask_v how_o god_n be_v to_o be_v serve_v and_o worship_v why_o they_o think_v that_o question_n be_v soon_o answer_v and_o thus_o do_v god_n just_o punish_v the_o iniquity_n of_o man_n when_o we_o see_v simple_a soul_n guide_v by_o such_o instructer_n of_o satan_n to_o bring_v they_o tumble_v headlonge_v together_o into_o the_o bottomless_a pyt_n of_o hell_n with_o themselves_o thus_o we_o see_v how_o this_o romish_a idol_n have_v licour_v christendom_n with_o all_o kind_n of_o lie_v and_o false_a doctrine_n and_o how_o so_o forsooth_o because_o man_n have_v stop_v up_o the_o way_n against_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o be_v content_v to_o be_v lycour_v with_o lease_v but_o by_o the_o way_n let_v we_o come_v home_o to_o ourselves_o and_o let_v we_o neither_o condemn_v the_o papist_n nor_o yet_o any_o other_o but_o eftsoon_o apply_v this_o doctrine_n unto_o our_o own_o use_n first_o of_o all_o we_o have_v the_o gospel_n the_o doctrine_n of_o all_o wisdom_n and_o yet_o how_o deaf_a and_o blockish_a be_v we_o we_o be_v daily_o preach_v unto_o but_o what_o instruction_n receive_v we_o thereby_o for_o all_o that_o sure_o sure_o it_o be_v well_o enough_o perceive_v and_o the_o fruit_n that_o come_v by_o it_o without_o all_o doubt_n it_o be_v true_o say_v that_o we_o have_v the_o gospel_n but_o if_o we_o live_v not_o in_o all_o obedience_n thereunto_o what_o testimony_n shall_v we_o have_v that_o we_o be_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n for_o according_a to_o that_o which_o we_o handle_v on_o sunday_n last_o we_o can_v be_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n without_o we_o be_v partaker_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n who_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n call_v the_o spirit_n of_o wisdom_n for_o by_o this_o we_o be_v show_v that_o we_o can_v have_v so_o small_a a_o portion_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n if_o we_o will_v continue_v it_o but_o that_o god_n will_v more_o and_o more_o augment_v it_o in_o us._n in_o very_a deed_n every_o man_n can_v have_v the_o like_a measure_n thereof_o howbeit_o that_o be_v no_o let_v why_o we_o shall_v not_o increase_v our_o small_a talon_n for_o although_o a_o man_n have_v the_o gift_n of_o tongue_n yet_o may_v he_o not_o have_v one_o some_o grace_n which_o a_o other_o man_n have_v and_o hereupon_o be_v that_o say_n of_o saint_n paul_n verify_v 4.7_o rom._n 12.3_o after_o they_o have_v receive_v he_o see_v how_o they_o become_v of_o simple_a soul_n such_o great_a and_o learned_a clerk_n as_o that_o they_o understand_v the_o diversity_n of_o tongue_n the_o want_n of_o which_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v be_v a_o hindrance_n to_o the_o publish_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o the_o prophet_n joel_n say_v that_o god_n have_v pour_v out_o his_o spirit_n upon_o all_o flesh_n moreover_o we_o be_v to_o observe_v here_o in_o this_o place_n this_o say_n that_o the_o old_a man_n and_o young_a man_n shall_v prophesy_v whereby_o he_o declare_v that_o both_o old_a and_o young_a shall_v be_v partaker_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o now_o needful_a for_o we_o to_o seek_v for_o any_o gloze_n to_o understand_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o prophet_n in_o this_o speech_n all_o flesh_n because_o the_o very_a text_n sufficient_o show_v his_o meaning_n come_v near_o unto_o god_n but_o by_o the_o mean_a of_o a_o mediator_n we_o have_v at_o this_o present_a the_o personal_a presence_n of_o the_o mediator_n himself_o who_o once_o for_o all_o have_v fulfil_v every_o thing_n by_o his_o alone_a sacrifice_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v now_o no_o sacrifice_n to_o be_v do_v for_o the_o purge_n and_o sanctifi_v of_o sin_n 1.11_o mala._n 1.11_o but_o only_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o thanksgiving_n unto_o our_o god_n who_o therewith_o be_v well_o please_v through_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o although_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o scripture_n that_o at_o the_o come_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n altar_n shall_v be_v set_v up_o throughout_o the_o whole_a world_n to_o sacrifice_n unto_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n yet_o must_v we_o leave_v the_o figure_n and_o rest_n in_o the_o truth_n for_o inasmuch_o as_o the_o altar_n be_v a_o sign_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n because_o it_o be_v say_v that_o sacrifice_n shall_v be_v other_o his_o dear_a friend_n the_o romanistes_n will_v conclude_v upon_o this_o place_n that_o there_o must_v needs_o be_v sacrifice_n have_v and_o therefore_o when_o they_o will_v have_v their_o mass_n allow_v they_o bring_v in_o this_o testimony_n of_o the_o scripture_n howbeit_o if_o it_o be_v so_o as_o they_o make_v themselves_o believe_v sure_o sure_o they_o must_v needs_o conclude_v that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v not_o yet_o appear_v nor_o that_o his_o kingdom_n be_v yet_o come_v nevertheless_o we_o see_v the_o contrary_n and_o therefore_o see_v the_o prophet_n have_v thus_o say_v it_o be_v not_o only_o to_o show_v that_o god_n shall_v be_v universal_o worship_v in_o spirit_n &_o truth_n and_o not_o in_o figure_n moreover_o here_o be_v to_o be_v note_v that_o the_o say_n of_o prophecy_n be_v not_o mean_v by_o the_o prophet_n to_o tell_v of_o thing_n to_o come_v as_o in_o the_o old_a time_n it_o be_v take_v but_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o whosoever_o shall_v have_v the_o gift_n of_o prophecy_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o teach_v and_o apply_v doctrine_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o profit_n thereby_o and_o vapour_n of_o smoke_n that_o the_o sun_n shall_v be_v turn_v into_o darkness_n and_o the_o moon_n into_o blood_n these_o word_n show_v that_o great_a and_o marvelous_a thing_n must_v come_v to_o pass_v whenas_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v manifest_v himself_o and_o why_o so_o forsooth_o because_o the_o the_o world_n shall_v then_o be_v change_v for_o they_o which_o will_v follow_v jesus_n albeit_o that_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n speak_v by_o his_o mouth_n yet_o so_o it_o be_v that_o he_o have_v not_o yet_o declare_v and_o set_v forth_o the_o matter_n unto_o we_o in_o their_o greatness_n and_o majesty_n and_o herein_o we_o derogate_v nothing_o from_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n weakness_n the_o lord_n in_o set_v out_o himself_o and_o christ_n to_o we_o have_v respect_n to_o it_o not_o think_v you_o a_o far_o unequal_a measure_n s._n john_n then_o albeit_o he_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n instrument_n speak_v not_o of_o these_o matter_n according_a to_o their_o greatness_n the_o world_n in_o this_o behalf_n have_v be_v foul_o abuse_v by_o foolish_a imagination_n
and_o vain_a speculation_n and_o by_o a_o certain_a devilish_a boldness_n for_o when_o the_o question_n have_v be_v to_o handle_v these_o matter_n man_n have_v overwhelm_v themselves_o in_o as_o much_o as_o they_o mean_v beside_o the_o revelation_n of_o the_o doctrine_n to_o search_v out_o with_o a_o certain_a curiosity_n &_o boldness_n the_o eternal_a essence_n and_o be_v of_o almighty_a god_n as_o a_o man_n in_o the_o papacy_n shall_v hear_v disputation_n that_o be_v make_v thereof_o even_o as_o if_o man_n dispute_v of_o a_o flock_n of_o goat_n or_o i_o know_v not_o whereof_o they_o good_a thought_n how_o great_o ought_v these_o man_n i_o say_v in_o respect_n of_o the_o rest_n enforce_v themselves_o let_v every_o man_n therefore_o examine_v himself_o and_o we_o shall_v find_v ourselves_o to_o be_v so_o cold_a and_o blockishe_a as_o when_o any_o question_n shall_v be_v move_v of_o pray_v unto_o god_n we_o go_v to_o it_o sometime_o more_o for_o a_o fashion_n then_o for_o any_o affection_n and_o love_n we_o have_v thereto_o when_o we_o see_v this_o to_o be_v in_o we_o let_v we_o learn_v to_o be_v displease_v with_o such_o a_o vice_n and_o with_o such_o a_o coldness_n yea_o &_o let_v we_o detest_v such_o a_o corruption_n and_o do_v our_o best_a to_o call_v upon_o god_n and_o lift_v up_o our_o mind_n unto_o heaven_n and_o seek_v for_o the_o remedy_n which_o be_v here_o set_v before_o we_o thus_o we_o see_v in_o effect_n what_o it_o be_v that_o we_o must_v remember_v for_o where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o disciple_n be_v a_o sleep_n the_o third_o time_n yea_o although_o they_o be_v so_o lively_o stir_v up_o over_o and_o beside_o that_o which_o we_o have_v this_o morning_n speak_v of_o to_o wit_n that_o we_o right_o well_o see_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n choose_v unto_o he_o no_o companion_n for_o the_o help_a of_o he_o to_o finish_v the_o work_n of_o our_o salvation_n let_v we_o also_o behold_v our_o dulness_n for_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o we_o have_v no_o more_o ableness_n than_o these_o three_o of_o who_o mention_n be_v here_o make_v and_o yet_o be_v they_o the_o most_o notable_a man_n of_o all_o the_o company_n and_o those_o who_o jesus_n christ_n have_v mark_v as_o it_o be_v to_o be_v the_o very_a flower_n of_o the_o twelve_o for_o the_o publishig_n of_o the_o gospel_n throughout_o the_o world_n and_o although_o here_o be_v already_o never_o so_o good_a a_o beginning_n yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o see_v how_o weak_a they_o be_v and_o this_o be_v set_v down_o to_o this_o end_n that_o we_o shall_v altogether_o have_v recourse_n unto_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o seek_v for_o our_o want_n in_o he_o and_o not_o to_o be_v faint_a heart_a whenas_o we_o shall_v feel_v such_o weakness_n in_o ourselves_o in_o very_a deed_n the_o example_n of_o the_o apostle_n must_v not_o give_v we_o occasion_n to_o flatter_v ourselves_o as_o many_o there_o be_v which_o will_v say_v that_o they_o may_v very_o well_o sleep_n because_o that_o peter_n john_n and_o james_n step_v but_o let_v we_o be_v angry_a with_o ourselves_o for_o our_o sin_n and_o know_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n be_v ready_a to_o receive_v we_o if_o that_o we_o will_v come_v unto_o he_o moreover_o this_o have_v always_o be_v the_o most_o special_a reason_n which_o we_o have_v declare_v this_o morning_n that_o what_o soever_o be_v in_o man_n must_v needs_o be_v weak_a to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v know_v that_o in_o he_o be_v the_o accomplishment_n of_o our_o salvation_n who_o god_n have_v appoint_v to_o be_v our_o mediator_n and_o beside_o we_o be_v to_o note_v that_o the_o near_o we_o come_v unto_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n we_o ought_v then_o to_o be_v most_o watchful_a for_o the_o worldling_n and_o such_o as_o god_n have_v cut_v of_o as_o rot_a member_n and_o forsake_v they_o never_o have_v any_o great_a conflict_n because_o the_o devil_n have_v already_o dominion_n over_o they_o and_o therefore_o we_o see_v that_o they_o may_v sleep_v at_o pleasure_n but_o as_o our_o lord_n jesus_n show_v we_o this_o favour_n to_o call_v we_o unto_o himself_o and_o familiar_o to_o come_v near_o we_o even_o so_o likewise_o do_v satan_n prepare_v combat_n for_o we_o because_o he_o will_v retire_v we_o from_o the_o obedience_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o i_o say_v when_o he_o see_v we_o in_o any_o good_a towardness_n then_o do_v he_o most_o rough_o assail_v us._n wherefore_o let_v every_o man_n make_v ready_a himself_o know_v whereunto_o god_n have_v call_v he_o and_o what_o his_o charge_n be_v this_o then_o be_v the_o sum_n of_o that_o we_o be_v to_o keep_v in_o mind_n moreover_o where_o it_o be_v say_v sleep_v hence_o
he_o can_v if_o it_o please_v he_o even_o with_o the_o breath_n of_o his_o mouth_n overthrow_n whatsoever_o stand_v against_o he_o by_o this_o we_o have_v to_o learn_v to_o fear_v the_o word_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o although_o he_o be_v not_o here_o conversant_a among_o we_o after_o a_o visible_a sort_n nevertheless_o since_o the_o gospel_n be_v preach_v by_o his_o authority_n &_o that_o he_o say_v he_o that_o hear_v you_o 8.16_o luk._n 8.16_o hear_v i_o let_v we_o learn_v most_o reverent_o to_o receive_v whatsoever_o be_v preach_v in_o his_o name_n &_o submit_v ourselves_o thereto_o and_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o this_o say_n which_o thus_o make_v the_o soldier_n and_o those_o that_o be_v send_v against_o he_o too_o fall_v must_v be_v our_o only_a foundation_n &_o stay_v for_o what_o be_v all_o our_o joy_n &_o comfort_n without_o the_o son_n of_o god_n appear_v unto_o we_o &_o that_o we_o see_v he_o nigh_o we_o &_o show_v we_o what_o a_o one_o he_o be_v &_o wherefore_o it_o be_v that_o god_n his_o father_n send_v he_o unto_o we_o and_o so_o let_v we_o understand_v by_o this_o say_n i_o be_o he_o that_o when_o it_o shall_v please_v our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n to_o manifest_v himself_o as_o he_o do_v to_o all_o his_o faithful_a that_o he_o therein_o declare_v unto_o we_o why_o he_o call_v we_o unto_o himself_o why_o he_o be_v come_v down_o unto_o we_o &_o why_o he_o dwell_v in_o we_o by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o thus_o we_o see_v wherein_o all_o our_o felicity_n and_o quietness_n rest_v but_o if_o we_o will_v become_v rebellious_a and_o contemn_v the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o a_o number_n of_o profane_a man_n do_v whereon_o we_o ought_v to_o build_v our_o salvation_n let_v we_o be_v assure_v that_o it_o will_v be_v a_o lightning_n to_o throw_v we_o all_o down_o headlong_o into_o the_o pit_n of_o hell_n and_o so_o let_v we_o fear_v and_o although_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n open_v unto_o we_o the_o gate_n and_o say_v after_o a_o other_o manner_n behold_v i_o which_o he_o have_v not_o do_v to_o those_o who_o be_v his_o profess_a enemy_n let_v we_o come_v unto_o he_o moreover_o let_v we_o also_o learn_v so_o patient_o to_o bear_v the_o treason_n which_o we_o see_v to_o be_v at_o this_o day_n in_o the_o church_n as_o that_o we_o yet_o abhor_v and_o detest_v they_o and_o so_o show_v ourselves_o true_o and_o in_o deed_n to_o cleave_v fast_o unto_o the_o son_n of_o god_n because_o he_o be_v our_o head_n and_o since_o we_o have_v his_o truth_n let_v we_o live_v so_o together_o one_o with_o a_o other_o as_o that_o we_o may_v be_v unite_v together_o in_o true_a &_o brotherly_a concord_n and_o this_o be_v it_o that_o we_o be_v to_o remember_v but_o how_o ever_o it_o be_v let_v we_o learn_v this_o principal_a point_n for_o our_o instruction_n which_o we_o must_v gather_v out_o of_o this_o text_n to_o wit_n that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n become_v full_o and_o whole_o obedient_a that_o he_o may_v repair_v our_o transgression_n it_o be_v very_o true_a as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v that_o all_o the_o member_n of_o god_n must_v be_v rule_v after_o his_o example_n and_o it_o be_v great_a reason_n since_o he_o who_o be_v lord_n and_o master_n over_o all_o so_o humble_v himself_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v ready_a both_o in_o life_n and_o death_n to_o obey_v our_o god_n but_o yet_o let_v we_o understand_v that_o this_o be_v a_o especial_a obedience_n which_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n show_v in_o this_o behalf_n to_o wit_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o fruit_n &_o effect_v which_o come_v thereby_o the_o apostle_n take_v the_o death_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o a_o example_n very_o well_o for_o it_o strengthen_v they_o when_o as_o they_o be_v to_o abide_v the_o combat_n for_o the_o testimony_n of_o the_o gospel_n then_o sleep_v they_o not_o for_o we_o see_v their_o watchfulness_n and_o readiness_n in_o the_o follow_n of_o their_o call_n neither_o fear_v they_o the_o torment_n of_o death_n but_o offer_v themselves_o when_o god_n call_v they_o thereto_o for_o the_o glorify_v of_o his_o name_n and_o the_o confess_v of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n but_o they_o chief_o stand_v upon_o this_o that_o all_o our_o spot_v be_v wash_v and_o cleanse_v by_o the_o shed_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o our_o redeemer_n that_o he_o full_o satisfy_v god_n his_o father_n for_o all_o our_o debt_n for_o which_o we_o be_v bind_v and_o have_v obtain_v for_o we_o perfect_a righteousness_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v understand_v the_o difference_n that_o be_v between_o the_o head_n and_o the_o member_n &_o learn_v that_o by_o nature_n we_o be_v whole_o give_v to_o do_v evil_a and_o although_o god_n have_v partly_o regenerate_v we_o yet_o do_v our_o flesh_n still_o resist_v against_o his_o majesty_n notwithstanding_o through_o the_o power_n &_o virtue_n of_o the_o obedience_n which_o we_o see_v to_o be_v in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n let_v we_o not_o leave_v of_o to_o do_v those_o thing_n which_o may_v please_v our_o god_n according_a to_o his_o heart_n desire_n and_o although_o we_o can_v do_v the_o good_a we_o will_v but_o do_v the_o evil_n we_o will_v not_o and_o oftentimes_o slip_v or_o else_o be_v too_o too_o slack_a let_v we_o look_v unto_o that_o which_o the_o son_n of_o god_n have_v suffer_v for_o the_o amend_v of_o all_o our_o offence_n and_o behold_v that_o he_o have_v so_o combat_v as_o that_o he_o be_v not_o against_o it_o when_o as_o our_o sin_n &_o offence_n be_v lay_v unto_o he_o as_o this_o morning_n have_v more_o at_o large_a be_v speak_v see_v then_o that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v full_o &_o whole_o make_v satisfaction_n &_o that_o although_o we_o at_o this_o day_n have_v do_v our_o best_a to_o obey_v god_n &_o can_v come_v to_o that_o perfection_n we_o ought_v but_o continual_o trail_v our_o leg_n after_o we_o &_o have_v many_o thing_n in_o we_o which_o may_v be_v amend_v yet_o let_v we_o know_v that_o we_o shall_v not_o but_o please_v god_n &_o our_o imperfection_n be_v continual_o abolish_v through_o the_o obedience_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n so_o that_o they_o shall_v never_o come_v in_o account_n against_o we_o before_o his_o majesty_n and_o beside_o let_v every_o one_o according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o the_o faith_n &_o grace_n which_o he_o have_v receive_v strive_v to_o fight_v until_o the_o time_n we_o attain_v unto_o the_o heavenly_a rest_n and_o although_o we_o see_v our_o weakness_n to_o be_v so_o great_a &_o convince_v that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a once_o to_o think_v a_o good_a thought_n and_o be_v cast_v down_o not_o able_a to_o rise_v again_o except_o god_n reach_v we_o his_o hand_n and_o strengthen_v we_o every_o minute_n let_v we_o beseech_v he_o to_o augment_v in_o we_o the_o grace_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n as_o he_o have_v promise_v we_o and_o have_v set_v jesus_n christ_n before_o we_o to_o be_v our_o head_n and_o captain_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v get_v that_o victory_n which_o he_o have_v obtain_v for_o we_o the_o fruit_n whereof_o we_o already_o feel_v and_o then_o shall_v perfect_o and_o thorough_o feel_v let_v we_o now_o fall_v down_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n in_o such_o acknowledgement_n of_o our_o offence_n as_o that_o it_o may_v right_o humble_v we_o before_o he_o and_o bring_v we_o to_o true_a repentance_n and_o more_o and_o more_o labour_n to_o make_v void_a whatsoever_o be_v against_o his_o righteousness_n and_o because_o we_o can_v be_v without_o conflict_n and_o enemy_n that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o to_o pour_v upon_o he_o the_o succour_n which_o he_o have_v promise_v and_o make_v we_o so_o to_o feel_v it_o as_o that_o we_o may_v resist_v unto_o the_o end_n all_o temptation_n and_o learn_v also_o to_o thank_v he_o for_o all_o our_o victory_n without_o attribute_v any_o of_o they_o unto_o ourselves_o to_o the_o end_n we_o provoke_v not_o his_o wrath_n through_o arrogancy_n but_o beseech_v he_o to_o continue_v his_o grace_n continual_o in_o we_o and_o prosecute_v more_o and_o more_o the_o thing_n which_o he_o have_v do_v and_o begin_v in_o us._n that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o bestow_v this_o grace_n etc._n etc._n the_o three_o sermon_n of_o the_o passion_n matthew_z xxvi_o 51_o and_o behold_v one_o of_o they_o which_o be_v with_o say_v for_o i_o know_v that_o god_n can_v if_o it_o have_v please_v he_o have_v save_v we_o without_o any_o mean_a but_o we_o be_v always_o to_o presuppose_v that_o it_o be_v jesus_n christ_n which_o must_v purchase_v life_n for_o us._n and_o therefore_o for_o the_o bring_n of_o this_o matter_n to_o pass_v it_o be_v eftsoon_o meet_a that_o he_o shall_v become_v a_o servant_n because_o he_o can_v not_o otherwise_o have_v yield_v his_o obedience_n unto_o god_n his_o father_n and_o without_o this_o obedience_n it_o be_v impossible_a for_o he_o to_o have_v repair_v our_o transgression_n and_o iniquity_n thus_o than_o we_o see_v why_o he_o be_v call_v a_o righteous_a servant_n to_o be_v short_a the_o prophet_n do_v we_o to_o wit_n that_o because_o we_o be_v and_o yet_o be_v rebel_n to_o god_n until_o such_o time_n as_o he_o have_v reform_v we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o again_o although_o after_o he_o have_v give_v we_o the_o touch_n of_o a_o good_a mind_n yet_o be_v we_o unprofitable_a servant_n and_o trip_v and_o stumble_v every_o hand_n while_n and_o beside_o when_o we_o shall_v think_v that_o the_o service_n which_o we_o do_v he_o shall_v be_v well_o accept_v of_o he_o yet_o may_v it_o be_v very_o well_o amend_v yea_o &_o worthy_a to_o be_v reject_v and_o therefore_o for_o the_o blot_n out_o of_o our_o offence_n it_o be_v meet_v that_o the_o service_n and_o obedience_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n shall_v please_v god_n and_o that_o it_o shall_v also_o carry_v with_o it_o a_o right_n and_o full_a satisfaction_n this_o then_o be_v the_o sum_n and_o effect_n of_o his_o meaning_n and_o hereupon_o we_o be_v to_o gather_v that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v not_o only_o justify_v we_o in_o that_o he_o be_v god_n but_o through_o the_o power_n of_o his_o obedience_n in_o that_o he_o take_v upon_o he_o our_o nature_n and_o therein_o will_v accomplish_v and_o fulfil_v the_o law_n which_o be_v impossible_a for_o we_o to_o do_v because_o it_o be_v such_o a_o burden_n as_o will_v have_v press_v we_o all_o down_o and_o have_v break_v our_o neck_n forsomuch_o then_o as_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n forsake_v himself_o for_o our_o salvation_n and_o become_v obedient_a unto_o god_n his_o father_n we_o see_v in_o what_o sort_n he_o have_v justify_v us._n now_o he_o speak_v also_o namely_o of_o his_o knowledge_n mean_v thereby_o to_o express_v that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n perform_v in_o his_o own_o person_n all_o whatsoever_o that_o be_v necessary_a for_o our_o salvation_n but_o that_o we_o also_o shall_v take_v fast_o hold_v thereof_o by_o faith_n and_o therefore_o knowledge_n be_v very_o requisite_a for_o how_o many_o incredulous_a or_o unbeléeving_a person_n do_v we_o see_v perish_v unto_o who_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n serve_v to_o none_o other_o purpose_n save_v only_o for_o their_o great_a condemnation_n because_o they_o tread_v his_o most_o holy_a and_o precious_a blood_n under_o their_o foot_n and_o utter_o refuse_v his_o grace_n which_o he_o offer_v unto_o they_o 21.9_o john_n 3.14_o numb_a 21.9_o and_o so_o although_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v like_o unto_o the_o serpent_n which_o be_v set_v up_o in_o the_o wilderness_n for_o the_o heal_n of_o all_o disease_n yet_o can_v we_o for_o our_o part_n receive_v no_o profit_n by_o he_o except_o we_o know_v he_o for_o as_o it_o be_v meet_v also_o that_o the_o brazen_a serpent_n shall_v be_v look_v on_o in_o the_o wilderness_n and_o without_o which_o look_v on_o the_o bite_a or_o sting_v of_o the_o serpent_n be_v always_o deadly_a even_o so_o at_o this_o day_n be_v the_o gospel_n unto_o we_o as_o a_o scaffolde_n whereon_o to_o set_v up_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n or_o else_o like_o a_o banner_n to_o represent_v he_o unto_o our_o eye_n 4.1_o 3._o cor._n 4.1_o that_o we_o may_v see_v he_o a_o great_a way_n of_o to_o be_v short_a the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o saint_n paul_n say_v be_v not_o dark_a for_o we_o may_v in_o it_o behold_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n appear_v in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n or_o else_o the_o devil_n have_v blindfolded_a our_o eye_n but_o how_o ever_o it_o be_v we_o be_v thorough_o to_o consider_v of_o that_o which_o be_v here_o speak_v that_o jesus_n christ_n justifi_v not_o but_o by_o his_o knowledge_n in_o deed_n it_o be_v most_o true_a that_o the_o very_a substance_n of_o our_o salvation_n must_v come_v from_o thence_o for_o when_o it_o be_v say_v that_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n this_o be_v not_o to_o exclude_v jesus_n christ_n neither_o yet_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n but_o rather_o to_o lead_v we_o and_o bring_v we_o unto_o they_o but_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v the_o easely_o come_v to_o the_o understanding_n hereof_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v in_o the_o first_o place_n that_o we_o be_v not_o righteous_a of_o ourselves_o since_o we_o must_v borrow_v it_o of_o some_o other_o for_o if_o we_o be_v able_a so_o to_o rule_v and_o order_v our_o life_n that_o it_o may_v be_v all_o in_o all_o answerable_a unto_o the_o law_n and_o will_v of_o god_n then_o in_o deed_n we_o deserve_v that_o he_o shall_v accept_v us._n and_o why_o so_o forsooth_o because_o he_o be_v to_o allow_v of_o the_o good_a since_o he_o be_v the_o fountain_n thereof_o for_o else_o he_o shall_v deny_v himself_o and_o therefore_o if_o we_o can_v frame_v our_o life_n to_o agree_v with_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o be_v so_o perfect_a as_o he_o require_v we_o shall_v then_o without_o doubt_n be_v justify_v by_o our_o work_v and_o jesus_n christ_n as_o saint_n paul_n say_v shall_v profit_v we_o nothing_o 5.4_o collos_n 5.4_o but_o contrariwise_o when_o we_o be_v drive_v to_o borrow_v our_o righteousness_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o seek_v it_o at_o his_o hand_n that_o be_v as_o much_o to_o say_v that_o we_o be_v as_o bare_a of_o it_o as_o we_o say_v as_o my_o nail_n wherefore_o let_v we_o have_v faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o yet_o live_v wanton_o and_o wicked_o and_o be_v stain_v with_o all_o the_o corruption_n of_o the_o world_n this_o be_v as_o a_o man_n will_v say_v i_o hold_v the_o sun_n and_o it_o shine_v not_o and_o as_o if_o a_o man_n will_v turn_v upside_o down_o the_o whole_a order_n of_o nature_n for_o it_o be_v more_o like_a that_o the_o sun_n shall_v be_v without_o light_n then_o that_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v be_v without_o righteousness_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o make_v this_o observation_n that_o we_o take_v not_o this_o cloak_n of_o hypocrisy_n upon_o we_o and_o say_v that_o we_o have_v faith_n in_o the_o gospel_n and_o that_o we_o believe_v in_o good_a sadness_n without_o our_o life_n and_o conversation_n be_v answerable_a and_o show_v that_o we_o have_v receive_v jesus_n christ_n and_o that_o through_o the_o grace_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n he_o consecrate_v &_o sanctifi_v we_o to_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n his_o father_n we_o see_v then_o that_o we_o must_v not_o come_v with_o falâ—â—_n ensign_n to_o usurp_v this_o name_n of_o faith_n be_v a_o most_o holy_a thing_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o take_v heed_n we_o profane_v it_o not_o but_o if_o we_o believe_v in_o the_o son_n of_o god_n let_v we_o effectual_o show_v that_o we_o have_v do_v so_o and_o then_o no_o doubt_n he_o will_v make_v we_o feel_v his_o power_n and_o
