have_v no_o more_o but_o nature_n so_o it_o be_v say_v of_o steven_n that_o he_o be_v full_a of_o faith_n and_o of_o the_o spirit_n and_o of_o power_n and_o what_o follow_v he_o be_v so_o powerful_a in_o reason_v that_o the_o pharisee_n can_v not_o resist_v he_o he_o have_v a_o wondrous_a work_n with_o he_o and_o in_o the_o primitive_a church_fw-mi after_o the_o lord_n have_v suffer_v and_o for_o ever_o we_o shall_v enter_v into_o the_o way_n to_o get_v his_o presence_n christian_n religion_n stand_v not_o so_o much_o in_o curiosity_n or_o in_o speech_n as_o in_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o heart_n &_o in_o a_o practise_n of_o that_o love_n of_o the_o heart_n in_o the_o life_n and_o conversation_n the_o apostle_n paul_n in_o the_o four_o chap._n to_o the_o ephes_n vers_fw-la 22.24_o tell_v we_o what_o it_o be_v to_o learn_v christ_n even_o to_o put_v off_o the_o old_a man_n and_o to_o put_v on_o the_o new_a man_n this_o for_o the_o answer_n yet_o he_o insi_v in_o that_o that_o they_o shall_v keep_v his_o commandment_n no_o it_o can_v be_v preach_v enough_o to_o keep_v the_o commandment_n of_o christ_n because_o our_o nature_n be_v so_o backward_o and_o as_o before_o he_o because_o he_o not_o see_v himself_o think_v himself_o as_o good_a as_o any_o other_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a thing_n to_o the_o tongue_n to_o cloak_n the_o filth_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o hypocrite_n and_o what_o will_v his_o hand_n be_v do_v then_o it_o will_v be_v utter_v itself_o in_o a_o filthy_a life_n so_o take_v not_o up_o the_o disposition_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n or_o woman_n by_o the_o tongue_n but_o by_o the_o hand_n for_o the_o hand_n will_v say_v to_o the_o tongue_n tongue_n thou_o lie_v john_n 1._o epist_n chap._n 2._o verse_n 4._o if_o any_o say_v i_o know_v god_n and_o keep_v not_o his_o command_n he_o be_v a_o liar_n and_o the_o truth_n be_v not_o in_o he_o and_o again_o chap._n 4._o verse_n 20._o if_o any_o man_n say_v i_o love_v god_n and_o hate_v his_o brother_n he_o be_v but_o a_o liar_n who_o be_v it_o that_o control_v the_o tongue_n and_o testify_v before_o the_o world_n that_o the_o heart_n be_v but_o false_a it_o be_v the_o hand_n and_o creature_n of_o all_o angel_n they_o can_v be_v a_o solid_a ground_n to_o our_o faith_n neither_o can_v the_o authoritv_n of_o the_o church_fw-mi be_v a_o ground_n to_o our_o faith_n albeit_o the_o foolish_a papist_n affirm_v that_o the_o cause_n wherefore_o we_o believe_v the_o scripture_n be_v because_o the_o kirke_n say_v it_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o except_o the_o scripture_n bare_a witness_n of_o the_o self_n that_o it_o be_v of_o god_n and_o the_o word_n of_o god_n true_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o kirke_n can_v never_o make_v we_o believe_v nor_o persuade_v we_o the_o doctor_n sound_v never_o so_o long_o in_o the_o ear_n if_o the_o inward_a concur_v not_o the_o word_n shall_v do_v no_o good_a and_o except_o that_o spirit_n open_v the_o eye_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o see_v and_o open_v the_o heart_n as_o he_o open_v the_o heart_n of_o lydia_n act._n chap._n 16._o vers_fw-la 14._o to_o receive_v that_o seed_n of_o the_o word_n the_o heart_n shall_v be_v as_o a_o close_a book_n and_o hard_a than_o it_o be_v of_o before_o mark_v another_o thing_n the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n will_v not_o accompany_v the_o word_n at_o all_o time_n no_o not_o in_o to_o the_o unfaithful_a now_o this_o be_v true_a likewise_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o the_o godly_a sometime_o be_v like_o a_o close_a book_n and_o they_o will_v have_v such_o a_o hardness_n at_o time_n that_o they_o will_v have_v no_o sense_n of_o it_o not_o to_o endure_v they_o but_o to_o humble_v they_o and_o if_o ever_o there_o be_v maâ—ter_n of_o humiliation_n here_o it_o be_v that_o the_o other_o be_v the_o world_n shall_v rejoice_v these_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o his_o depart_n then_o he_o declare_v his_o return_v by_o the_o effect_n but_o your_o mourning_n shall_v be_v turn_v miss_v the_o lord_n away_o they_o will_v have_v no_o joy_n and_o by_o the_o contrary_a place_v they_o in_o all_o the_o sorrow_n in_o the_o world_n if_o they_o get_v a_o sight_n of_o jesus_n christ_n they_o get_v joy_n enough_o but_o on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o wicked_a and_o the_o ungodly_a who_o never_o taste_v how_o sweet_a the_o lord_n be_v never_o rejoice_v but_o when_o they_o want_v the_o lord_n jesus_n out_o of_o their_o sight_n they_o have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o his_o presence_n they_o have_v never_o pleasure_n to_o hear_v of_o christ_n
hard_a till_o thou_o be_v so_o harden_v and_o obdure_v that_o thou_o can_v feel_v nothing_o at_o all_o brethren_n you_o may_v think_v it_o a_o wonderful_a thing_n that_o a_o body_n who_o sit_v hear_v continual_o and_o who_o have_v so_o clear_a a_o light_n glance_v aye_o before_o he_o shall_v get_v no_o light_n at_o all_o but_o shall_v go_v out_o of_o the_o kirke_n more_o blind_a than_o when_o he_o soul_n open_v with_o joy_n and_o when_o they_o say_v lord_n give_v i_o that_o life_n for_o christ_n sake_n with_o the_o word_n the_o life_n of_o jesus_n will_v be_v feel_v in_o the_o soul_n sensible_o therefore_o press_n aye_o to_o find_v by_o experience_n that_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n be_v no_o empty_a wind_n by_o the_o contrary_a if_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n find_v in_o no_o measure_n no_o grace_n or_o no_o sense_n of_o grace_n in_o their_o soul_n let_v they_o blame_v themselves_o for_o they_o want_v grace_n for_o plain_a fault_n of_o ask_v alace_o that_o we_o shall_v lose_v such_o shall_v be_v buffet_v and_o beat_v yea_o and_o pull_v in_o piece_n and_o if_o it_o be_v to_o free_v thou_o from_o hell_n sometime_o inward_o he_o will_v prick_v thou_o and_o stir_v up_o thy_o conscience_n to_o accuse_v thou_o and_o he_o will_v open_v the_o eye_n of_o thy_o soul_n to_o see_v thy_o own_o misery_n and_o want_v and_o when_o the_o lord_n have_v waken_v thou_o that_o thou_o to_o wit_n in_o prayer_n and_o in_o offer_v up_o of_o a_o sacrifice_n then_o as_o for_o the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o intercession_n when_o the_o lord_n be_v in_o the_o world_n he_o pray_v continual_o for_o the_o people_n he_o never_o cease_v night_n nor_o day_n from_o prayer_n as_o for_o the_o other_o part_n of_o his_o intercession_n when_o he_o have_v be_v in_o the_o world_n awhile_o at_o the_o last_o he_o offer_v up_o that_o sweet_a sacrifice_n of_o his_o own_o body_n to_o the_o father_n and_o so_o he_o put_v a_o end_n to_o all_o those_o sacrifice_n which_o be_v but_o type_n of_o conclude_v the_o sermon_n which_o the_o lord_n make_v to_o his_o disciple_n when_o jesus_n have_v speak_v these_o thing_n to_o his_o disciple_n then_o he_o propon_v the_o prayer_n that_o follow_v he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n to_o heaven_n and_o say_v there_o be_v the_o proposition_n of_o the_o prayer_n in_o the_o proposition_n he_o note_v narrow_o the_o behaviour_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o prayer_n woman_n attain_v not_o to_o salvation_n and_o that_o the_o lord_n keep_v they_o not_o the_o fault_n be_v in_o themselves_o because_o when_o the_o lord_n call_v on_o they_o they_o will_v not_o answer_v no_o not_o one_o of_o you_o we_o say_v shall_v perish_v for_o fault_n of_o preach_v but_o because_o you_o make_v yourselves_o unworthy_a when_o the_o lord_n cry_v you_o will_v not_o hear_v he_o world_n now_o to_o go_v forward_o to_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o argument_n i_o have_v say_v he_o manifest_v thy_o name_n to_o these_o man_n who_o thou_o give_v i_o be_v choose_v out_o of_o the_o
