3_o lie_v he_o insinuate_v that_o we_o equal_a nay_o prefer_v our_o book_n before_o the_o scripture_n because_o of_o the_o title_n we_o give_v our_o own_o book_n viz._n the_o voice_n of_o wisdom_n a_o testimony_n for_o god_n etc._n etc._n and_o what_o we_o give_v the_o scripture_n namely_o letter_n etc._n etc._n this_o i_o have_v large_o speak_v to_o in_o my_o answer_n to_o j._n faldo_n but_o not_o know_v whither_o ever_o that_o may_v be_v where_o this_o probable_o may_v come_v i_o shall_v say_v thus_o much_o if_o at_o any_o time_n we_o call_v the_o scripture_n the_o letter_n it_o be_v not_o for_o their_o prayer_n indeed_o god_n spirit_n give_v they_o to_o see_v the_o emptiness_n of_o their_o righteousness_n and_o condemn_v they_o for_o it_o wherefore_o they_o be_v at_o time_n dissatisfy_v in_o they_o yet_o they_o will_v not_o learn_v of_o he_o to_o be_v guide_v by_o he_o who_o will_v cover_v they_o with_o everlasting_a righteousness_n blessed_n will_v they_o be_v if_o any_o other_o power_n or_o spirit_n read_v the_o scripture_n what_o great_a contradiction_n can_v there_o be_v then_o to_o believe_v man_n of_o himself_o can_v do_v no_o good_a and_o yet_o to_o say_v he_o can_v do_v it_o without_o god_n spirit_n to_o incline_v and_o assist_v he_o thereunto_o but_o if_o the_o spirit_n do_v not_o what_o do_v tell_v i_o what_o can_v tender_v the_o heart_n prepare_v the_o soul_n raise_v the_o affection_n give_v true_a feel_v of_o want_n and_o help_v to_o perform_v all_o in_o that_o fear_n reverence_n and_o deep_a sense_n which_o become_v all_o new_a covenant_n spiritual_a worshipper_n if_o this_o can_v or_o do_v not_o nay_o what_o a_o affront_n be_v it_o to_o god_n since_o it_o be_v to_o suppose_v that_o man_n want_v he_o not_o that_o his_o spirit_n mean_v as_o in_o case_n of_o freewill_n i_o query_n how_o this_o matter_n shall_v be_v reconcile_v they_o affirm_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o rule_n and_o say_v this_o be_v the_o true_a sense_n of_o the_o scripture_n thomas_n hicks_n also_o affirm_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o rule_n but_o that_o his_o sense_n be_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o scripture_n this_o occur_v almost_o daily_o among_o those_o who_o believe_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o rule_n of_o faith_n now_o observe_v the_o parallel_n the_o quaker_n by_o the_o light_n within_o they_o as_o their_o rule_n judge_v that_o rude_a imagination_n of_o keep_v the_o hat_n on_o in_o time_n of_o public_a prayer_n the_o anabaptist_n by_o the_o scripture_n as_o their_o rule_n censure_n thomas_n hicks_n for_o uphold_v a_o contrary_a sense_n to_o the_o scripture_n the_o dissenter_n from_o the_o quaker_n say_v the_o light_n which_o he_o call_v his_o rule_n manifest_v no_o such_o thing_n to_o he_o nor_o do_v he_o believe_v it_o to_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o light_n to_o he_o thomas_n hicks_n make_v answer_n to_o the_o church_n that_o by_o the_o scripture_n he_o understand_v quite_o another_o thing_n and_o in_o opposition_n to_o itself_o by_o these_o two_o pretender_n as_o the_o light_n within_o and_o if_o the_o church_n of_o anabaptist_n will_v not_o therefore_o doubt_v the_o truth_n of_o their_o interpretation_n but_o proceed_v to_o censure_v thomas_n hicks_n as_o a_o disturber_n of_o their_o church_n in_o its_o doctrine_n or_o discipline_n by_o the_o introduction_n of_o new_a and_o unprofitable_a opinion_n neither_o be_v the_o body_n of_o the_o quaker_n to_o question_v their_o judgement_n give_v by_o the_o light_n within_o as_o their_o rule_n to_o be_v a_o true_a and_o unquestionable_a determination_n against_o such_o alexander_n and_o enemy_n to_o the_o peace_n of_o their_o jerusalem_n but_o i_o will_v further_o tell_v thomas_n hicks_n that_o though_o we_o renounce_v all_o worship_n not_o lead_v to_o by_o god_n spirit_n his_o reflection_n
such_o thing_n and_o believe_v they_o to_o be_v downright_a lie_n as_o other_o that_o be_v go_v before_o they_o however_o shall_v they_o be_v as_o true_a as_o we_o hope_v they_o be_v false_a we_o can_v but_o judge_v they_o and_o that_o we_o do_v by_o the_o light_n of_o christ_n jesus_n to_o the_o pit_n forever_o but_o if_o we_o shall_v take_v this_o course_n of_o prove_v the_o anabaptist_n those_o vile_a impostor_n he_o do_v call_v and_o pretend_v to_o prove_v the_o poor_a despise_a quaker_n to_o be_v p._n 69._o how_o many_o miscarriage_n may_v we_o collect_v and_o publish_v against_o the_o people_n that_o be_v call_v by_o that_o name_n but_o we_o do_v not_o desire_v that_o prophanist_n shall_v have_v any_o such_o theme_n from_o we_o to_o sport_v their_o unclean_a mind_n upon_o notwithstanding_o thomas_n hicks_n liberality_n to_o they_o be_v it_o not_o then_o wicked_o do_v in_o he_o to_o tell_v we_o in_o the_o same_o page_n that_o if_o a_o miscarriage_n be_v it_o be_v the_o lord_n and_o our_o innocent_a suffer_a cause_n will_v he_o plead_v in_o his_o own_o time_n who_o will_v be_v do_v by_o we_o and_o that_o will_v be_v our_o everlasting_a rejoice_v 3._o for_o master_n i_o must_v speak_v my_o own_o experience_n many_o have_v desire_v to_o retain_v we_o and_o great_a trust_n have_v be_v repose_v in_o we_o to_o who_o be_v we_o false_a of_o who_o service_n who_o he_o write_v have_v as_o well_o be_v gather_v without_o mean_n as_o that_o he_o admonish_v they_o to_o abide_v in_o that_o holy_a unction_n as_o sufficient_a to_o their_o instruction_n and_o comfort_n therefore_o let_v he_o go_v ask_v the_o apostle_n john_n why_o man_n be_v to_o attend_v upon_o the_o holy_a anoint_v as_o sufficient_a not_o withstand_v thosâ—_n mean_v then_o provide_v and_o the_o answer_n to_o that_o question_n will_v be_v we_o but_o here_o be_v the_o darkness_n of_o the_o man_n from_o our_o deny_v of_o empty_a vnauthorized_a imitation_n he_o infer_v our_o denial_n of_o such_o mean_n as_o god_n power_n use_v and_o from_o out_o use_v such_o mean_n to_o our_o contradict_a ourselves_o and_o immediate_a teach_v and_o because_o we_o use_v mean_n in_o god_n power_n to_o bring_v people_n to_o god_n the_o judge_n of_o all_o that_o he_o may_v be_v their_o judge_n and_o lawgiver_n and_o that_o from_o his_o immediate_a hand_n they_o may_v receive_v wisdom_n knowledge_n and_o comfort_n he_o ignorant_o conclude_v that_o man_n where_o they_o be_v ought_v not_o to_o have_v mean_v use_v to_o bring_v they_o to_o this_o bless_a state_n but_o that_o god_n shall_v immediate_o teach_v they_o there_o 4._o i_o charge_v he_o with_o another_o lie_n in_o say_v that_o we_o appoint_v minister_n before_o hand_n to_o speak_v in_o such_o a_o a_o place_n at_o such_o a_o time_n ibid._n and_o much_o less_o that_o the_o end_n of_o our_o meeting_n be_v to_o decoy_n trapan_n and_o inveigle_v other_o as_o he_o scoff_o and_o false_o insinuate_v we_o deny_v the_o suggestion_n and_o renounce_v and_o judge_v such_o practice_n by_o that_o pure_a spirit_n that_o have_v otherwise_o teach_v we_o god_n preserve_v we_o from_o that_o dry_a hireling_n custom_n and_o practice_n of_o tho._n hicks_n who_o will_v avenge_v our_o cause_n upon_o the_o head_n of_o this_o ungodly_a slanderer_n but_o he_o think_v he_o have_v utter_o foil_v we_o in_o his_o representation_n indeed_o perversion_n of_o our_o belief_n about_o the_o seed_n which_o though_o speak_v to_o some_o distance_n before_o yet_o i_o be_o willing_a to_o say_v something_o to_o it_o lest_o it_o be_v take_v for_o grant_v and_o his_o scurvy_a name_n account_v due_a title_n to_o such_o miserable_a wretch_n as_o he_o endeavour_v to_o render_v we_o the_o objection_n entire_o be_v this_o you_o say_v that_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n be_v to_o point_v people_n to_o
