be_v of_o thunderclap_n or_o of_o the_o fall_n of_o a_o river_n and_o the_o sight_n by_o look_v upon_o the_o sun_n upon_o fire_n and_o upon_o all_o thing_n that_o have_v a_o glister_a brightness_n i_o omit_v that_o in_o the_o most_o of_o these_o thing_n it_o be_v not_o proper_o the_o sense_n itself_o but_o the_o outward_a instrument_n of_o sense_n only_o that_o be_v offend_v or_o hurt_v but_o let_v we_o see_v if_o there_o be_v the_o like_a in_o our_o reasonable_a soul_n nay_o contrariwise_o the_o more_o of_o understanding_n and_o excellency_n that_o the_o thing_n be_v the_o more_o do_v it_o refresh_v and_o comfort_v our_o mind_n if_o it_o be_v dark_a so_o as_o we_o understand_v it_o but_o by_o half_n it_o hurt_v we_o not_o but_o yet_o do_v it_o not_o delight_v we_o nay_o as_o we_o increase_v in_o understand_v it_o so_o do_v it_o like_o we_o the_o better_a and_o the_o high_a it_o be_v the_o more_o do_v it_o stir_v up_o the_o power_n of_o our_o understanding_n and_o as_o you_o desirous_a to_o hold_v on_o still_o and_o whereof_o come_v that_o but_o that_o our_o sense_n work_v by_o bodily_a instrument_n but_o our_o mind_n work_v by_o a_o bodiless_a substance_n which_o need_v not_o the_o help_n of_o the_o body_n and_o see_v that_o the_o nature_n the_o nourishment_n and_o the_o action_n of_o our_o soul_n be_v so_o far_o differ_v both_o from_o the_o nature_n nourishment_n and_o action_n of_o the_o body_n and_o from_o all_o that_o ever_o be_v do_v or_o wrought_v by_o the_o body_n can_v there_o be_v any_o thing_n more_o childish_a than_o to_o deem_v our_o soul_n to_o be_v mortal_a by_o the_o abate_v and_o decay_v of_o our_o sense_n or_o by_o the_o mortality_n of_o our_o body_n nay_o contrariwise_o it_o may_v be_v most_o sound_o and_o substantial_o conclude_v receive_v corruption_n by_o any_o thing_n fire_n corrupt_v or_o mar_v our_o body_n and_o we_o suffer_v in_o receive_v it_o so_o do_v also_o extreme_a cold_a but_o if_o we_o suffer_v nothing_o by_o it_o it_o can_v not_o freeze_v we_o our_o sense_n likewise_o be_v mar_v by_o the_o excessive_a force_n of_o the_o thing_n which_o they_o light_v upon_o and_o that_o be_v because_o

world_n have_v their_o memory_n still_o notwithstanding_o that_o to_o some_o man_n seem_v it_o go_v away_o with_o the_o sense_n as_o the_o treasury_n of_o the_o sense_n howbeit_o he_o affirm_v it_o to_o be_v the_o more_o excellent_a kind_n of_o memory_n not_o that_o which_o call_v thing_n again_o to_o mind_n as_o already_o past_a but_o that_o which_o hold_v and_o behold_v they_o still_o as_o these_o substance_n which_o extend_v into_o so_o many_o place_n be_v they_o body_n or_o spirit_n how_o can_v they_o be_v body_n see_v they_o be_v in_o infinite_a place_n at_o one_o instant_a and_o do_v infinite_a thing_n yea_o and_o flat_a contrary_n and_o if_o they_o be_v spirit_n do_v it_o not_o follow_v thereupon_o that_o they_o be_v whole_o in_o all_o man_n and_o whole_o in_o every_o man_n capable_a of_o all_o that_o ever_o the_o spirit_n himself_o know_v or_o be_v whereupon_o it_o will_v follow_v that_o this_o understanding_n in_o possibility_n shall_v everlasting_o in_o all_o man_n from_o their_o very_a birth_n actual_o understand_v

gross_o or_o doubtful_o but_o whereas_o he_o say_v that_o if_o the_o mind_n have_v any_o inworking_a of_o it_o own_o without_o any_o help_n of_o the_o sense_n or_o of_o the_o body_n it_o may_v also_o continue_v of_o itself_o conclude_v thereupon_o that_o then_o it_o may_v also_o be_v separate_v from_o the_o body_n as_o a_o immortal_a thing_n from_o a_o thing_n that_o be_v transitory_a and_o contemplation_n be_v better_a than_o the_o other_o and_o the_o felicity_n thereto_o belong_v be_v peculiar_o describe_v by_o he_o in_o his_o book_n of_o heaven_n above_o time_n as_o which_o consist_v in_o the_o frank_a and_o free_a work_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o in_o behold_v the_o sovereign_a god_n and_o in_o good_a sooth_n moral_n fulwell_o do_v michael_n of_o ephesus_n upon_o this_o say_n of_o manner_n of_o soul_n or_o but_o only_o of_o that_o soul_n which_o be_v immortal_a it_o follow_v that_o he_o grant_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o one_o and_o again_o when_o as_o he_o make_v this_o argument_n look_v what_o god_n be_v everlasting_o that_o be_v we_o in_o possibility_n according_a to_o our_o measure_n but_o he_o be_v everlasting_o separate_v from_o bodily_a thing_n therefore_o
