confess_v cap._n 15._o sect_n 3._o be_v it_o not_o very_o manifest_a by_o their_o own_o confession_n though_o in_o plain_a contradiction_n to_o their_o own_o doctrine_n that_o repentance_n be_v a_o of_o it_o but_o without_o divine_a inward_a revelation_n which_o beget_v assurance_n there_o be_v no_o true_a faith_n but_o only_a opinion_n or_o conjecture_n see_v there_o be_v no_o midst_n betwixt_o assurance_n and_o opinion_n or_o conjecture_n and_o therefore_o these_o faith-publishers_a have_v deny_v the_o true_a faith_n of_o god_n elect_n when_o they_o say_v it_o may_v be_v without_o assuranee_n and_o that_o
we_o and_o work_v together_o with_o we_o this_o answer_n be_v but_o a_o mere_a presumption_n or_o conjecture_n see_v they_o deny_v all_o inward_a revelation_n and_o inspiration_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o give_v the_o believer_n and_o saint_n in_o former_a age_n a_o infallible_a kowledge_v and_o assurance_n that_o they_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o the_o spirit_n that_o they_o claim_v unto_o as_o they_o say_v do_v only_o work_v in_o they_o effective_o but_o not_o by_o way_n of_o object_n it_o be_v altogether_o a_o unknown_a mean_a or_o principle_n of_o operation_n it_o but_o fallible_a and_o therefore_o their_o faith_n be_v fallible_a their_o knowledge_n fallible_a their_o hope_n fallible_a and_o every_o thing_n in_o they_o fallible_a dubious_a conjectural_a and_o uncertain_a and_o they_o only_o think_v that_o they_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o a_o spiritual_a knowledge_n of_o thing_n and_o when_o ask_v they_o dare_v not_o say_v their_o thought_n have_v any_o infallible_a assurance_n in_o it_o as_o all_o true_a assurance_n be_v infallible_a yea_o some_o of_o they_o be_v so_o dark_a ignorant_a and_o blind_a that_o to_o i_o in_o my_o hear_n have_v affirm_v that_o the_o apostle_n paul_n be_v not_o infallible_o sure_a that_o he_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n bring_v paul_n word_n 1_o cor._n 7.40_o i_o think_v also_o that_o i_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n but_o according_a to_o his_o blind_a argument_n the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v not_o infallible_o sure_a for_o the_o same_o greek_a word_n be_v apply_v to_o the_o holy_a ghost_n act_v 15.28_o it_o seem_v good_a to_o the_o holy_a ghost_n but_o this_o be_v blasphemous_a to_o think_v or_o affirm_v and_o i_o see_v not_o how_o they_o can_v clear_v their_o doctrine_n of_o blasphemy_n to_o say_v that_o they_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o to_o affirm_v that_o they_o have_v no_o infallible_a spirit_n the_o plain_a english_a of_o which_o be_v that_o the_o be_v qualify_v member_n of_o their_o church_n for_o all_o these_o and_o the_o worst_a of_o man_n may_v profess_v the_o true_a religion_n it_o be_v strange_a that_o independent_o so_o call_v require_v no_o more_o but_o to_o profess_v the_o true_a religion_n to_o make_v people_n member_n of_o their_o church_n why_o do_v they_o former_o separate_v and_o set_v up_o church_n apart_o not_o only_o from_o the_o popish_a and_o episcopal_a but_o from_o the_o presbyterian_a church_n so_o call_v if_o a_o profession_n of_o the_o true_a religion_n be_v enough_o to_o qualify_v person_n to_o be_v church-member_n of_o their_o church_n do_v not_o those_o profess_v the_o true_a religion_n as_o well_o as_o these_o call_v independent_o yea_o do_v not_o the_o presbyterian_o profess_v the_o same_o religion_n in_o all_o part_n with_o these_o call_v independent_o and_o differ_v nothing_o from_o they_o but_o in_o some_o small_a circumstance_n of_o discipline_n government_n and_o the_o like_a 2._o we_o find_v no_o such_o church_n in_o all_o the_o scripture_n own_v to_o be_v a_o church_n of_o god_n or_o christ_n that_o the_o outward_a form_n or_o profession_n of_o true_a religion_n do_v make_v a_o church_n of_o god_n or_o christ_n but_o on_o the_o contrary_a these_o who_o have_v the_o form_n of_o godliness_n but_o have_v not_o the_o power_n of_o it_o and_o deny_v the_o power_n the_o scripture_n bid_v turn_v away_o from_o they_o for_o of_o this_o sort_n be_v they_o which_o creep_v into_o house_n etc._n etc._n see_v 2_o tim._n 3.5_o 6._o and_o consequent_o these_o can_v be_v no_o
