in_o the_o hope_n of_o that_o glory_n which_o he_o have_v purchase_v for_o i_o and_o so_o in_o the_o hope_n of_o that_o glory_n grant_v i_o i_o humble_o pray_v thou_o to_o draw_v virtue_n from_o the_o resurrection_n of_o my_o saviour_n that_o so_o i_o may_v be_v raise_v up_o with_o he_o to_o newness_n of_o life_n whereby_o i_o may_v render_v thanks_o unto_o thou_o for_o this_o unspeakable_a gift_n and_o to_o be_v make_v meet_a for_o the_o same_o in_o the_o acceptable_a time_n and_o that_o i_o may_v not_o be_v disappoint_v of_o my_o hope_n oh_o grant_v i_o still_o to_o live_v by_o faith_n in_o in_o pursuit_n of_o this_o glory_n both_o from_o the_o world_n without_o either_o detain_v i_o in_o the_o way_n or_o draw_v i_o from_o the_o mark_n as_o also_o from_o my_o own_o deceitful_a heart_n within_o as_o discourage_v i_o in_o my_o course_n and_o lagger_v i_o in_o my_o pace_n and_o sometime_o also_o blind_a i_o either_o not_o to_o discern_v or_o mistake_v the_o goal_n oh_o grant_v i_o to_o walk_v by_o faith_n and_o not_o by_o sight_n as_o to_o rest_v on_o the_o foundation_n which_o stand_v sure_a the_o lord_n know_v who_o be_v his_o though_o sometime_o in_o the_o build_n i_o may_v miss_v of_o it_o so_o to_o walk_v as_o a_o stranger_n &_o pilgrim_n in_o the_o world_n not_o clog_a myself_o in_o my_o journey_n with_o
send_v the_o spirit_n of_o thy_o son_n into_o my_o dead_a heart_n whereby_o thou_o have_v quicken_v i_o by_o faith_n in_o the_o merit_n of_o my_o saviour_n enable_v i_o with_o boldness_n to_o draw_v near_o unto_o thou_o and_o to_o cry_v with_o confidence_n abba_n father_n o_o how_o have_v thou_o shed_v thy_o love_n abroad_o in_o my_o heart_n by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o thou_o have_v give_v mercy_n of_o my_o god_n towards_o i_o do_v thou_o not_o put_v this_o precious_a treasure_n of_o faith_n into_o a_o earthen_a vessel_n that_o the_o glory_n may_v be_v of_o god_n and_o not_o of_o man_n do_v thou_o not_o redeem_v i_o out_o of_o the_o hand_n of_o our_o enemy_n that_o so_o i_o may_v pass_v the_o time_n of_o my_o pilgrimage_n in_o fear_n and_o magnify_v thy_o power_n daily_o in_o my_o righteous_a will_n and_o cast_v up_o daily_a mist_n to_o dim_v the_o eye_n of_o my_o faith_n that_o i_o can_v so_o clear_o discern_v the_o light_n of_o thy_o countenance_n yea_o sometime_o so_o lead_v i_o captive_a into_o sin_n that_o i_o be_o many_o time_n to_o seek_v of_o the_o sense_n of_o thy_o love_n i_o be_o many_o time_n put_v to_o question_v the_o truth_n of_o my_o faith_n and_o to_o distrust_v myself_o whether_o i_o have_v any_o faith_n or_o no._n for_o alas_o lord_n i_o must_v needs_o confess_v to_o thy_o glory_n that_o although_o thou_o command_v i_o to_o believe_v perfect_o in_o thy_o son_n and_o to_o be_v strong_a in_o faith_n yet_o i_o find_v on_o the_o other_o side_n such_o strength_n of_o corruption_n prevail_a over_o i_o and_o command_v i_o forcible_o to_o give_v way_n thereunto_o and_o so_o not_o only_o interrupt_v the_o sense_n of_o thy_o love_n unto_o i_o but_o also_o challenge_v my_o love_n unto_o thou_o that_o i_o be_o force_v many_o time_n to_o fear_n neglect_v the_o save_a mean_n of_o deep_a humiliation_n to_o awaken_v i_o to_o repentance_n alas_o lord_n thou_o know_v full_a well_o that_o though_o thou_o have_v follow_v i_o with_o many_o secret_a and_o open_a affliction_n to_o rouse_v i_o out_o of_o this_o sleep_n of_o security_n yet_o either_o it_o have_v prove_v but_o a_o dream_n and_o so_o i_o have_v fall_v asleep_a again_o or_o if_o my_o heart_n have_v be_v awake_a yet_o it_o have_v not_o be_v unto_o thou_o to_o make_v my_o sound_a peace_n but_o rather_o unto_o my_o enemy_n to_o cease_v his_o violence_n yea_o sometime_o to_o the_o world_n to_o procure_v some_o temporary_a lenity_n rather_o to_o ease_v my_o present_a pain_n then_o to_o heal_v i_o thorough_o and_o sure_o righteous_a lord_n even_o thus_o it_o have_v befall_v that_o such_o as_o i_o have_v sow_o i_o have_v often_o reap_v even_o more_o hardness_n of_o heart_n less_o sense_n and_o remorse_n for_o sin_n more_o boldness_n thereto_o and_o more_o ease_n therein_o less_o delight_n in_o holy_a duty_n less_o life_n in_o prayer_n less_o conscience_n in_o the_o word_n more_o slight_n in_o my_o call_n more_o distraction_n in_o my_o reckon_n and_o more_o confusion_n in_o my_o spirit_n yet_o still_o o_o lord_n i_o hear_v a_o voice_n behind_o i_o say_v this_o be_v the_o way_n walk_v in_o it_o yet_o still_o i_o find_v thy_o hand_n over_o i_o to_o stay_v i_o from_o sink_v still_o my_o better_a advise_a heart_n tell_v i_o it_o be_v better_a with_o i_o former_o then_o now_o when_o i_o have_v comfort_n in_o thy_o presence_n and_o conscience_n in_o thy_o ordinance_n still_o thy_o spirit_n be_v ready_a to_o revive_v i_o with_o hope_n that_o i_o may_v recover_v again_o and_o my_o hope_n be_v confirm_v hereby_o that_o the_o mean_n be_v still_o offer_v i_o and_o i_o be_o capable_a of_o they_o but_o alas_o lord_n instead_o of_o comfort_n by_o they_o i_o reap_v nothing_o but_o further_a confusion_n because_o as_o i_o be_o unable_a to_o apply_v they_o to_o myself_o so_o indeed_o i_o be_o not_o now_o fit_a for_o that_o comfort_n which_o i_o seek_v for_o in_o thou_o for_o what_o peace_n can_v there_o be_v to_o i_o while_o my_o corruption_n stink_v before_o thou_o or_o how_o can_v i_o look_v for_o comfort_n bâ—fore_o i_o be_v sound_o heal_v o_o the_o unspeakable_a riches_n of_o the_o wisdom_n and_o mercy_n of_o my_o god_n how_o insearchable_a be_v thy_o counsel_n and_o thy_o way_n past_o find_v out_o as_o thou_o do_v bring_v light_n out_o of_o darkness_n in_o call_v i_o from_o darkness_n unto_o light_n so_o do_v thou_o cause_v thy_o light_n to_o shine_v in_o darkness_n that_o thy_o glory_n may_v be_v perfect_v in_o my_o infirmity_n and_o therefore_o though_o i_o be_o now_o thy_o creature_n renew_v after_o thy_o own_o image_n yet_o see_v thou_o will_v have_v the_o only_a glory_n of_o thy_o work_n therefore_o as_o the_o light_n of_o the_o righteous_a must_v shine_v more_o and_o more_o unto_o the_o perfect_a day_n so_o the_o darkness_n from_o trouble_a in_o my_o spirit_n by_o the_o confusion_n of_o those_o remedy_n as_o breed_v some_o time_n hardness_n of_o heart_n and_o so_o bring_v forth_o trouble_v by_o expose_v to_o outward_a evil_n and_o hinder_v in_o the_o use_n of_o spiritual_a remedy_n sometime_o hereupon_o breed_v further_o trouble_n and_o inward_a horror_n and_o anguish_n of_o spirit_n many_o time_n lay_v the_o axe_n to_o the_o very_a root_n &_o challenge_v the_o main_a and_o yet_o in_o all_o this_o far_o less_o than_o i_o have_v deserve_v that_o so_o i_o may_v have_v hope_n in_o thy_o free_a grace_n for_o my_o recovery_n and_o in_o all_o this_o advance_v thy_o righteousness_n in_o abase_v my_o folly_n that_o so_o i_o may_v still_o renounce_v my_o own_o righteousness_n and_o labour_n to_o be_v find_v in_o christ_n for_o my_o recovery_n and_o perfection_n only_o keep_v i_o here_o holy_a father_n from_o presumptuous_a sin_n that_o it_o may_v not_o have_v dominion_n over_o i_o to_o turn_v thy_o grace_n heinous_a sin_n against_o thou_o that_o i_o humble_v myself_o in_o this_o world_n after_o the_o consummation_n of_o this_o life_n may_v be_v exalt_v in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n there_o to_o reign_v with_o thou_o for_o ever_o and_o ever_o amen_n a_o prayer_n against_o gluttony_n and_o drunkenness_n bless_a lord_n as_o thou_o have_v create_v man_n after_o thy_o own_o similitude_n and_o likeness_n and_o have_v give_v he_o a_o perfect_a body_n like_o unto_o thy_o son_n jesus_n christ_n so_o thou_o have_v ordain_v and_o provide_v for_o he_o ordinary_a mean_n as_o meat_n drink_n flesh_n fish_n herb_n oil_n wine_n &_o what_o not_o to_o keep_v and_o sustain_v the_o same_o and_o have_v command_v these_o thy_o creature_n to_o be_v moderate_o take_v to_o the_o sustentation_n of_o the_o body_n with_o praise_n and_o thanksgiving_n to_o thou_o accurse_v they_o to_o hell_n who_o by_o abuse_v not_o lawful_o use_v these_o thy_o blessing_n make_v they_o instrument_n of_o sin_n and_o so_o consequent_o of_o damnation_n to_o themselves_o give_v i_o grace_n i_o beseech_v thou_o that_o i_o may_v never_o abuse_v thy_o gift_n through_o gluttony_n drunkenness_n riot_n or_o excess_n but_o that_o i_o live_v in_o all_o godly_a temperance_n and_o sobriety_n may_v be_v thankful_a unto_o thou_o for_o they_o and_o also_o use_v they_o for_o my_o necessity_n know_v that_o our_o meat_n without_o thy_o blessing_n can_v nourish_v the_o body_n but_o destroy_v it_o rather_o as_o experience_n daily_o teach_v make_v i_o o_o lord_n to_o loath_a and_o detest_v this_o horrible_a vice_n so_o much_o the_o more_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o filthynes_n of_o the_o same_o for_o beside_o that_o it_o transform_v man_n into_o the_o image_n of_o a_o beast_n or_o rather_o make_v he_o worse_o than_o a_o beast_n for_o they_o neither_o eat_v nor_o drink_v without_o measure_n it_o also_o blind_v his_o eye_n of_o reason_n
that_o he_o see_v not_o the_o wickedness_n that_o he_o commit_v and_o therefore_o let_v be_v drink_v perceive_v not_o his_o incestuous_a fact_n commit_v with_o his_o two_o daughter_n the_o israelite_n swell_v in_o gluttony_n and_o drunkenness_n perceive_v not_o their_o grievous_a sin_n of_o idolatry_n which_o they_o fall_v into_o the_o rich_a glutton_n drunken_a with_o the_o abundance_n of_o all_o thing_n perceive_v not_o his_o contempt_n of_o the_o poor_a nor_o yet_o their_o great_a want_n and_o therefore_o thou_o in_o thy_o great_a wrath_n take_v he_o away_o from_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n by_o these_o and_o the_o like_a exampe_n of_o thy_o judgement_n grant_v o_o heavenly_a father_n that_o i_o be_v admonish_v may_v be_v careful_a and_o studious_a never_o to_o be_v culpable_a in_o this_o filthy_a vice_n lest_o in_o thy_o wrath_n thou_o deprive_v i_o of_o the_o use_n of_o thy_o creature_n in_o this_o life_n and_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v give_v i_o my_o portion_n with_o the_o wicked_a in_o the_o lake_n that_o burn_v with_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n that_o never_o shall_v be_v quench_v this_o be_v the_o reward_n thou_o threaten_v in_o thy_o holy_a word_n to_o all_o drunkard_n glutton_n and_o riotous_a person_n say_v by_o the_o mouth_n of_o the_o apostle_n neither_o whoremonger_n adulterer_n glutton_n drunkard_n nor_o such_o like_a shall_v ever_o enter_v in_o thy_o infinite_a wisdom_n have_v so_o dispose_v of_o we_o in_o this_o estate_n of_o holiness_n that_o thou_o may_v have_v the_o glory_n of_o thy_o free_a grace_n and_o therefore_o as_o thou_o have_v discharge_v we_o free_o of_o the_o guilt_n of_o our_o sin_n by_o the_o blood_n of_o thy_o son_n and_o accept_v we_o perfect_o righteous_a in_o his_o obedience_n so_o also_o thou_o have_v leave_v corruption_n in_o we_o to_o be_v daily_o master_v and_o subdue_v that_o so_o be_v thereby_o daily_o conscious_a of_o our_o own_o unworthiness_n and_o unsufficiency_n and_o subject_a in_o regard_n thereof_o to_o much_o distraction_n and_o infidelity_n we_o may_v learn_v still_o to_o live_v by_o faith_n in_o the_o son_n of_o god_n deny_v our_o own_o righteousness_n that_o still_o we_o may_v be_v find_v in_o he_o to_o the_o glorious_a praise_n of_o his_o free_a grace_n and_o so_o may_v be_v keep_v by_o his_o mighty_a power_n through_o faith_n unto_o salvation_n look_v gracious_o upon_o i_o thy_o unworthy_a servant_n who_o do_v here_o unfeigned_o acknowledge_v before_o thou_o that_o thy_o foundation_n stand_v sure_a thou_o know_v who_o be_v thou_o yet_o my_o faith_n be_v so_o weak_a that_o i_o ofttimes_o be_o to_o seek_v whither_o i_o be_o thou_o or_o no._n for_o such_o be_v my_o ignorance_n of_o what_o i_o shall_v know_v that_o i_o sometime_o grope_v at_o the_o light_n in_o the_o noon_n day_n neither_o know_v the_o worth_n of_o my_o holy_a call_n nor_o be_v able_a to_o use_v the_o mean_n which_o may_v true_o inform_v i_o therein_o but_o sometime_o over_o value_n my_o estate_n as_o if_o it_o be_v better_o with_o i_o than_o it_o be_v and_o sometime_o abase_v myself_o to_o be_v worse_o than_o indeed_o i_o be_o or_o shall_v be_v and_o my_o corruption_n sometime_o break_v out_o into_o gross_a rebellion_n do_v so_o hinder_v and_o obscure_v my_o spiritual_a eye_n of_o faith_n that_o i_o can_v neither_o true_o discern_v whereto_o i_o be_o come_v neither_o can_v see_v afar_o to_o what_o i_o shall_v attain_v yea_o many_o time_n it_o fare_v so_o ill_a with_o i_o that_o for_o want_v of_o speedy_a endeavour_n to_o recover_v myself_o by_o repentance_n i_o do_v not_o only_o plunge_v myself_o deep_a into_o the_o snare_n of_o sin_n by_o not_o apply_v the_o true_a remedy_n aright_o or_o stumble_v upon_o vain_a help_n but_o hereby_o many_o time_n be_o cast_v into_o such_o strait_n that_o i_o not_o only_o question_v all_o former_a truth_n of_o thy_o grace_n as_o if_o i_o be_v no_o better_o than_o a_o hypocrite_n and_o have_v build_v on_o the_o sand_n but_o also_o be_o ready_a to_o give_v over_o all_o hope_n of_o attain_v the_o same_o as_o if_o either_o it_o do_v not_o belong_v unto_o i_o or_o else_o it_o be_v too_o late_o to_o pursue_v and_o apprehend_v the_o same_o as_o if_o thou_o have_v forget_v to_o be_v merciful_a because_o i_o feel_v myself_o so_o miserable_a as_o if_o thy_o compassion_n be_v clean_o go_v because_o my_o rebellion_n seem_v so_o desperate_a hence_o it_o be_v o_o my_o god_n that_o i_o turn_v all_o thy_o comfort_n to_o be_v corrosive_n unto_o i_o and_o esteem_v all_o thy_o threaten_n not_o better_o than_o flash_v of_o hell_n and_o entrance_n to_o eternal_a vengeance_n
and_o use_v the_o same_o that_o together_o with_o they_o we_o may_v have_v thy_o spirit_n to_o instruct_v we_o as_o well_o in_o the_o want_n as_o in_o the_o true_a &_o lawful_a use_n of_o they_o that_o we_o may_v more_o earnest_o and_o serious_o study_v and_o labour_n in_o these_o vocation_n wherein_o thou_o have_v set_v we_o through_o thy_o great_a mercy_n to_o the_o promote_a and_o increase_v of_o thy_o kingdom_n to_o the_o benefit_n and_o comfort_n of_o thy_o child_n and_o we_o pray_v not_o only_o for_o ourselves_o but_o beseech_v thou_o make_v we_o earnest_a and_o fervent_a in_o prayer_n unto_o thy_o majesty_n even_o for_o other_o also_o yea_o for_o all_o man_n that_o as_o thou_o be_v the_o creator_n of_o all_o so_o thou_o will_v merciful_o regard_v they_o and_o continue_v thy_o gracious_a goodness_n &_o mercy_n in_o adminstr_v &_o order_v the_o world_n so_o that_o by_o no_o tyrant_n nor_o wicked_a man_n that_o order_n which_o thou_o have_v establish_v be_v overthrow_v but_o the_o spring_n and_o harvest_n the_o rain_n &_o fruitful_a time_n and_o the_o joy_n which_o thou_o show_v and_o give_v by_o they_o may_v provoke_v all_o man_n continual_o to_o fear_n and_o love_v thou_o yea_o to_o seek_v thou_o and_o find_v thou_o that_o not_o in_o those_o outward_a blessing_n alone_o but_o much_o more_o in_o thy_o spirit_n they_o whâ—me_v thou_o have_v behave_v themselves_o in_o thy_o church_n that_o they_o know_v how_o and_o wherewith_o to_o feed_v thy_o house_n the_o glory_n &_o beauty_n thereof_o may_v appear_v in_o the_o eye_n of_o all_o the_o world_n which_o thou_o have_v before_o so_o long_a time_n promise_v and_o which_o to_o see_v the_o eye_n dazzle_v &_o faint_v with_o look_v for_o and_o although_o we_o know_v well_o o_o lord_n that_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o miserable_a disorder_n deformity_n and_o breach_n now_o adays_o be_v in_o ourselves_o which_o shut_v up_o thy_o hand_n &_o as_o it_o be_v bound_v thy_o arm_n from_o reach_v and_o doctor_n who_o have_v mouth_n but_o speak_v not_o eyes_z but_o see_v not_o neither_o have_v they_o judgement_n to_o instruct_v thy_o people_n nor_o wisdom_n how_o to_o go_v out_o and_o in_o before_o they_o and_o that_o which_o be_v most_o fearful_a thy_o good_a hand_n be_v not_o wiâ—h_v those_o prophet_n which_o be_v amongst_o they_o who_o do_v sow_v indeed_o but_o the_o earth_n give_v not_o her_o increase_n they_o water_n but_o thy_o plant_n rise_v not_o in_o any_o number_n they_o feed_v but_o thy_o flock_n be_v poor_a not_o fat_a nor_o beautiful_a o_o let_v the_o lord_n forget_v the_o sin_n of_o his_o people_n why_o have_v he_o bind_v they_o upon_o his_o hand_n to_o look_v upon_o they_o for_o ever_o why_o have_v he_o set_v they_o day_n and_o night_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o his_o countenance_n we_o confess_v and_o acknowledge_v against_o ourselves_o o_o lord_n all_o our_o sin_n we_o judge_v and_o condemn_v ourselves_o yea_o we_o testify_v against_o ourselves_o that_o we_o have_v deserve_v that_o even_o those_o spark_n of_o thy_o fire_n and_o heavenly_a light_n which_o be_v among_o we_o shall_v be_v quench_v and_o put_v out_o that_o the_o smoke_n of_o thy_o glory_n yet_o stand_v be_v to_o be_v throw_v down_o that_o the_o lord_n shall_v mount_v upon_o his_o chariot_n and_o flee_v from_o us._n but_o shall_v the_o lord_n deal_v with_o his_o people_n by_o weight_n of_o manasses_n and_o those_o that_o laugh_v at_o and_o hinder_v &_o draw_v back_o this_o work_n let_v they_o be_v ashamed_a and_o confound_v and_o all_o thy_o marvellous_a blessiing_n be_v show_v
