the_o faithful_a but_o be_v visible_o breathe_v forth_o again_o as_o it_o be_v in_o regard_n of_o its_o fruit_n in_o holy_a speech_n and_o heavenly_a action_n that_o man_n may_v see_v the_o good_a the_o nature_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o then_o of_o its_o power_n and_o faculty_n 1._o for_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v a_o spirit_n and_o herein_o most_o like_a unto_o the_o angel_n of_o any_o other_o creature_n and_o though_o the_o wise_a man_n do_v communicate_v this_o name_n to_o the_o life_n of_o a_o beast_n yet_o he_o show_v a_o great_a difference_n between_o these_o two_o it_o go_v upward_o it_o be_v present_v before_o the_o lord_n in_o judgement_n after_o its_o departure_n from_o the_o body_n 2._o it_o be_v such_o a_o spirit_n as_o can_v subsist_v alone_o of_o it_o self_n out_o of_o the_o body_n so_o the_o apostle_n make_v mention_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o just_a man_n make_v perfect_a heb._n 12._o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o saint_n now_o in_o heaven_n who_o body_n rest_v in_o the_o dust_n and_o this_o show_v the_o excellent_a matter_n of_o man_n spirit_n far_o above_o the_o life_n of_o the_o beast_n or_o any_o unreasonable_a creature_n that_o it_o can_v it_o be_v say_v the_o wise_a man_n and_o the_o spirit_n return_v to_o he_o that_o give_v it_o eccles._n 12._o 3._o it_o be_v a_o immortal_a spirit_n so_o this_o very_a place_n show_v that_o when_o dust_n return_v to_o dust_n when_o the_o body_n dissolve_v than_o the_o spirit_n live_v and_o yield_v up_o itself_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o so_o the_o scripture_n show_v both_o in_o the_o not_o to_o be_v proper_o inherent_a in_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n but_o rather_o in_o the_o temper_n of_o the_o body_n for_o the_o intellectual_a soul_n be_v a_o spirit_n i_o can_v see_v how_o these_o brutish_a affection_n such_o as_o many_o of_o these_o be_v can_v be_v inherent_a in_o it_o especial_o because_o many_o of_o they_o as_o the_o faculty_n of_o attraction_n retention_n especial_o those_o which_o be_v most_o common_a among_o we_o what_o supply_v of_o milk_n do_v the_o cow_n afford_v we_o what_o fleece_n of_o wool_n do_v the_o sheep_n yield_v we_o what_o store_n of_o strong_a wholesome_a and_o pleasant_a nourishment_n do_v their_o body_n yield_v we_o and_o what_o labour_n be_v bestow_v about_o these_o when_o we_o have_v eat_v of_o these_o and_o be_v full_a when_o we_o be_v clothe_v by_o these_o and_o be_v warm_a then_o shall_v we_o take_v heed_n lest_o we_o forget_v god_n of_o who_o we_o have_v receive_v all_o 5._o among_o other_o thing_n we_o shall_v observe_v the_o lord_n goodness_n in_o give_v we_o divers_a of_o these_o creature_n to_o do_v our_o work_n to_o carry_v our_o burden_n to_o bear_v ourselves_o what_o benefit_n do_v we_o daily_o receive_v by_o the_o labour_n of_o the_o ox_n plough_v our_o ground_n and_o do_v we_o necessary_a service_n many_o way_n how_o serviceable_a be_v the_o horse_n unto_o we_o both_o for_o speed_n and_o beast_n and_o something_o more_o excellent_a as_o reason_n and_o understanding_n so_o a_o christian_n have_v nature_n in_o he_o and_o something_o above_o nature_n even_o the_o spirit_n of_o regeneration_n and_o as_o some_o beast_n have_v some_o thing_n in_o they_o wherein_o they_o excel_v man_n as_o the_o lion_n in_o strength_n the_o horse_n in_o swiftness_n etc._n etc._n yet_o the_o mean_a man_n be_v natural_o more_o excellent_a than_o the_o most_o excellent_a among_o the_o beast_n so_o though_o the_o child_n of_o this_o world_n do_v in_o some_o thing_n outstrip_v the_o child_n of_o light_n as_o many_o time_n in_o beauty_n strength_n wit_n outward_a carriage_n policy_n civil_a deportment_n etc._n etc._n yet_o the_o mean_a true_a christian_a be_v more_o excellent_a than_o his_o best_a carnal_a neighbour_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n restore_v to_o he_o 7._o again_o see_v the_o beast_n have_v those_o pleasure_n whereof_o the_o sense_n be_v capable_a this_o shall_v persuade_v we_o that_o these_o be_v not_o the_o most_o excellent_a delight_n but_o that_o there_o be_v pure_a high_a more_o heavenly_a delight_n which_o suit_n better_a with_o a_o intellectual_a immortal_a soul_n and_o this_o shall_v teach_v we_o to_o bewail_v our_o brutish_a affection_n which_o carry_v we_o so_o strong_o after_o sensual_a delight_n of_o the_o eye_n the_o ear_n invisible_a and_o so_o his_o creation_n be_v to_o be_v consider_v according_a to_o his_o several_a part_n first_o then_o consider_v the_o creation_n of_o man_n body_n and_o then_o of_o his_o soul._n the_o creation_n of_o man_n body_n be_v but_o brief_o lay_v down_o gen._n 2.7_o and_o the_o lord_n god_n form_v man_n of_o the_o dust_n of_o the_o ground_n that_o be_v his_o body_n where_o though_o the_o dust_n of_o the_o ground_n be_v mention_v yet_o i_o conceive_v that_o the_o matter_n of_o man_n body_n be_v temper_v with_o the_o other_o element_n although_o the_o earth_n be_v that_o which_o musâ—_n not_o judge_v of_o it_o according_a to_o those_o distemper_n whereunto_o the_o body_n now_o be_v subject_a yet_o now_o in_o some_o temper_n above_o other_o there_o be_v some_o degree_n of_o evenness_n which_o give_v we_o a_o shadow_n of_o that_o exactness_n that_o be_v at_o the_o first_o but_o in_o that_o state_n of_o creation_n there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o defect_n nor_o disorder_n in_o the_o temper_n of_o the_o body_n nothing_o which_o a_o man_n can_v have_v wish_v to_o have_v be_v otherwise_o than_o it_o be_v the_o constitution_n and_o complexion_n of_o the_o body_n and_o so_o the_o colour_n and_o appearance_n of_o it_o be_v perfect_a and_o exact_a for_o as_o every_o thing_n wâ—s_v good_a in_o its_o kind_n so_o man_n especial_o have_v his_o due_a natural_a perfection_n every_o way_n 2._o as_o there_o be_v this_o perfect_a temper_n and_o so_o a_o excellent_a constitution_n so_o there_o be_v a_o just_a and_o due_a proportion_n the_o whole_a body_n have_v its_o just_a stature_n and_o every_o part_n its_o due_a measure_n it_o be_v exact_o shape_v and_o frame_v nothing_o want_v nothing_o exceed_v nothing_o beyond_o nothing_o short_a of_o the_o due_a size_n and_o this_o exactness_n both_o of_o temper_n and_o proportion_n make_v up_o the_o perfect_a beauty_n and_o comeliness_n which_o god_n give_v to_o the_o body_n of_o man_n in_o his_o creation_n 3._o in_o the_o general_a frame_n also_o we_o may_v consider_v the_o upright_a and_o erect_a posture_n of_o man_n body_n in_o which_o regard_n he_o be_v permit_v to_o look_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o a_o excellent_a majesty_n be_v give_v he_o as_o a_o lord_n and_o ruler_n over_o the_o other_o creature_n who_o be_v make_v to_o bow_v down_o their_o back_n in_o subjection_n unto_o he_o and_o by_o the_o very_o stoop_v of_o their_o body_n to_o do_v he_o homage_n and_o acknowledge_v his_o dominion_n
over_o they_o and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o general_a frame_n sect_n 2._o now_o come_v we_o to_o the_o particular_a part_n and_o therein_o let_v we_o consider_v i._o those_o that_o be_v contain_v in_o the_o rest_n namely_o the_o blood_n and_o spirit_n 1._o for_o the_o blood_n you_o know_v it_o be_v a_o excellent_a part_n of_o the_o body_n and_o of_o absolute_a necessity_n insomuch_o that_o the_o blood_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o life_n of_o the_o body_n which_o must_v not_o be_v understand_v direct_o as_o the_o word_n seem_v to_o imply_v as_o if_o the_o life_n of_o a_o man_n be_v nothing_o but_o his_o blood_n for_o that_o be_v not_o possible_a if_o that_o be_v so_o then_o nothing_o can_v live_v which_o have_v no_o blood_n but_o this_o be_v certain_a that_o bee_n and_o many_o other_o like_o creature_n have_v no_o blood_n and_o yet_o have_v life_n it_o will_v also_o follow_v that_o so_o many_o drop_n of_o a_o man_n blood_n as_o he_o lose_v so_o much_o he_o lose_v of_o his_o life_n whereas_o many_o time_n the_o evacuation_n of_o blood_n be_v the_o preservation_n of_o life_n and_o that_o which_o be_v most_o absurd_a it_o will_v follow_v that_o a_o man_n life_n may_v be_v sever_v from_o he_o and_o yet_o remain_v for_o a_o time_n after_o such_o separation_n for_o so_o you_o see_v that_o the_o blood_n of_o man_n and_o of_o other_o creature_n may_v be_v keep_v a_o long_a time_n in_o vessel_n after_o it_o be_v sever_v from_o the_o body_n and_o beside_o all_o this_o the_o angel_n who_o have_v neither_o blood_n nor_o other_o bodily_a part_n have_v life_n in_o great_a perfection_n than_o a_o man_n thus_o than_o we_o understand_v these_o place_n that_o speak_v of_o the_o the_o blood_n that_o it_o be_v a_o special_a instrument_n of_o the_o soul_n whereby_o life_n be_v convey_v to_o the_o several_a part_n of_o the_o body_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o airy_a invisible_a substance_n yet_o bodily_a arise_v like_o vapour_n â—rom_o the_o pure_a part_n of_o the_o blood_n for_o although_o it_o be_v say_v the_o life_n be_v in_o the_o blood_n yet_o this_o be_v because_o the_o blood_n be_v a_o thing_n which_o be_v more_o obvious_a to_o the_o sense_n than_o the_o spirit_n and_o again_o because_o it_o be_v the_o nursery_n and_o as_o it_o be_v the_o fuel_n of_o the_o spirit_n whereby_o as_o by_o a_o precious_a oil_n the_o lamp_n and_o flame_n of_o life_n be_v cherish_v and_o maintain_v so_o that_o life_n be_v more_o immediate_o in_o the_o spirit_n than_o in_o the_o blood_n again_o life_n be_v lose_v by_o the_o shed_n of_o the_o blood_n because_o the_o spirit_n the_o immediate_a instrument_n of_o the_o soul_n whereby_o it_o communicate_v life_n to_o the_o body_n be_v extinguish_v by_o the_o shed_n of_o the_o blood_n even_o as_o the_o flame_n go_v out_o when_o the_o wood_n be_v quiâ—e_o take_v away_o and_o so_o in_o this_o respect_n also_o the_o blood_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o life_n of_o the_o creature_n moreover_o consider_v the_o spirit_n whereof_o somewhat_o have_v already_o be_v speak_v by_o the_o way_n these_o be_v call_v spirit_n not_o but_o that_o they_o be_v bodily_a substance_n but_o because_o they_o have_v the_o least_o grossness_n in_o they_o of_o all_o other_o part_n of_o the_o body_n and_o come_v near_a to_o a_o spiritual_a nature_n and_o these_o be_v indeed_o the_o immediate_a instrument_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o be_v as_o it_o be_v of_o a_o middle_a nature_n between_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n they_o be_v a_o common_a tie_n or_o bond_n between_o they_o both_o unite_n both_o together_o these_o be_v of_o most_o excellent_a use_n in_o the_o body_n throughout_o the_o part_n they_o convey_v life_n sense_n and_o motion_n to_o they_o all_o they_o be_v in_o special_a manner_n employ_v in_o the_o more_o retire_v and_o spiritual_a action_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o exercise_n of_o reason_n and_o understanding_n in_o the_o serious_a thought_n and_o meditation_n of_o the_o heart_n by_o it_o the_o pain_n or_o delight_n of_o one_o part_n of_o the_o body_n be_v convey_v and_o impart_v to_o the_o rest_n and_o a_o sympathy_n or_o fellow_n feeling_n be_v derive_v from_o one_o to_o the_o other_o and_o in_o these_o the_o singular_a wisdom_n of_o the_o creator_n be_v notable_o manifest_v sect_n 3._o the_o part_n contain_v these_o be_v in_o the_o next_o place_n to_o be_v consider_v where_o first_o the_o head_n be_v that_o which_o be_v set_v in_o the_o high_a place_n and_o be_v full_a of_o most_o curious_a workmanship_n it_o be_v the_o seat_n both_o of_o the_o outward_a and_o inward_a sense_n and_o as_o all_o the_o outward_a sense_n be_v place_v there_o so_o none_o of_o the_o five_o be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o any_o other_o part_n of_o the_o body_n except_o that_o of_o the_o touch_n or_o feeling_n which_o be_v the_o low_a and_o gross_a of_o the_o rest_n there_o be_v the_o eye_n of_o a_o singular_a and_o most_o curious_a make_n which_o be_v the_o instrument_n of_o see_v the_o very_a window_n of_o this_o house_n that_o let_v in_o light_n to_o the_o soul_n which_o otherwise_o will_v dwell_v in_o a_o dark_a dungeon_n it_o be_v a_o admirable_a thing_n to_o consider_v how_o by_o the_o wonderful_a power_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n all_o colour_n have_v his_o property_n to_o caff_v forth_o a_o resemblance_n and_o image_n of_o themselves_o whicâ—_n by_o the_o air_n be_v convey_v into_o the_o eye_n if_o this_o be_v well_o consider_v and_o understand_v it_o will_v be_v find_v one_o of_o the_o most_o wonderful_a work_n of_o the_o creation_n set_v forth_o the_o creator_n glory_n but_o you_o may_v conceive_v it_o thus_o when_o a_o looking-glass_n be_v hold_v before_o the_o face_n instant_o there_o be_v a_o image_n of_o a_o wonderful_a manner_n wherein_o also_o the_o admirable_a power_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n appear_v in_o that_o one_o voice_n issue_v out_o of_o one_o mouth_n shall_v enter_v in_o at_o many_o the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n be_v report_v to_o be_v rise_v upon_o the_o earth_n when_o the_o angel_n say_v to_o the_o shepherd_n behold_v i_o bring_v you_o glad_a tiding_n of_o great_a joy_n which_o shall_v be_v to_o all_o people_n luk._n 2.10_o oh_o how_o happy_a be_v the_o soul_n of_o a_o christian_a when_o after_o a_o night_n of_o natural_a blindness_n after_o a_o stormy_a night_n of_o error_n in_o the_o conscience_n this_o bless_a sun_n rise_v upon_o the_o soul_n shine_v upon_o the_o heart_n drive_v away_o cloud_n darkeness_n guilty_a fear_n distrustful_a thought_n 2._o as_o the_o sun_n be_v sometime_o hide_a so_o sometime_o christ_n do_v withdraw_v the_o sense_n of_o his_o gracious_a presence_n from_o his_o belove_a the_o spouse_n in_o the_o song_n of_o song_n seek_v long_o ere_o she_o can_v find_v he_o when_o once_o he_o step_v aside_o as_o the_o sâ—n_n return_v make_v the_o earth_n which_o be_v benumb_v in_o winter_n to_o spring_v and_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n again_o so_o when_o christ_n be_v effectual_o present_a and_o unite_a to_o the_o soul_n he_o cause_v a_o spring_n of_o grace_n and_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o arise_v in_o that_o soul._n let_v the_o meditation_n hereof_o move_v thou_o to_o lament_v thy_o barrenness_n and_o cry_v with_o that_o bless_a martyr_n at_o the_o stake_n son_n of_o god_n shine_v upon_o i_o shine_v upon_o my_o soul_n heal_v it_o quicken_v it_o make_v it_o fruitful_a to_o thy_o glory_n it_o be_v a_o argument_n that_o they_o be_v far_o from_o christ_n who_o bring_v forth_o no_o fruit_n please_v unto_o god_n but_o yet_o remain_v in_o a_o carnal_a estate_n 3._o consider_v also_o that_o those_o fruit_n be_v most_o sweet_a and_o pleasant_a common_o which_o grow_v towards_o the_o sunrising_n and_o have_v the_o morning_n sun_n to_o ripen_v and_o bring_v they_o to_o perfection_n so_o the_o zeal_n and_o obedience_n of_o the_o christian_n who_o live_v present_o after_o our_o saviour_n resurrection_n in_o the_o primitive_a church_n and_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o apostle_n be_v most_o excellent_a and_o so_o the_o grace_n and_o obedience_n of_o such_o as_o remember_v their_o creator_n in_o the_o day_n of_o their_o youth_n and_o consecrate_v the_o first_o fruit_n of_o their_o time_n unto_o god_n be_v exceed_o please_a and_o acceptable_a unto_o he_o 4._o when_o the_o sun_n set_v at_o night_n and_o leave_v we_o in_o the_o dark_a we_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o he_o will_v return_v again_o so_o when_o christ_n seem_v to_o withdraw_v himself_o from_o a_o faithful_a soul_n on_o which_o he_o have_v cast_v the_o sweet_a beam_n of_o comfort_n and_o refreshment_n let_v such_o a_o one_o know_v for_o his_o comfort_n that_o he_o will_v rise_v again_o this_o night_n will_v not_o always_o last_o though_o it_o be_v a_o long_a winter_n night_n a_o tedious_a time_n of_o desertion_n yet_o a_o dawn_n yea_o a_o perfect_a day_n will_v follow_v it_o when_o the_o face_n of_o christ_n shall_v shine_v again_o upon_o it_o again_o as_o the_o sun_n never_o so_o set_v as_o not_o to_o shine_v at_o all_o but_o when_o it_o set_v to_o one_o part_n of_o the_o world_n it_o arise_v to_o another_o so_o christ_n never_o withdraw_v his_o light_n from_o the_o whole_a world_n but_o although_o he_o remove_v from_o one_o nation_n yet_o he_o shine_v upon_o another_o he_o have_v a_o church_n in_o all_o age_n 5._o again_o as_o among_o those_o fruit_n which_o grow_v in_o the_o earth_n such_o as_o grow_v most_o towards_o the_o sun_n be_v sweet_a such_o as_o be_v most_o in_o the_o shade_n be_v sour_a so_o among_o those_o christian_n which_o be_v unite_v unto_o christ_n those_o who_o have_v more_o free_a and_o constant_a communion_n with_o he_o partake_v most_o of_o his_o spirit_n keep_v more_o close_a to_o he_o than_o other_o they_o bring_v forth_o most_o sweet_a and_o savoury_a fruit_n of_o obedience_n their_o service_n have_v a_o more_o please_a and_o heavenly_a relish_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o they_o than_o they_o who_o though_o they_o partake_v of_o some_o life_n and_o warmth_n from_o christ_n yet_o have_v it_o in_o aless_n degree_n and_o be_v less_o careful_a to_o remove_v such_o thing_n out_o of_o the_o sun_n as_o hide_v the_o face_n of_o christ_n from_o they_o therefore_o this_o shall_v move_v we_o to_o draw_v near_o unto_o he_o to_o dwell_v wiâ—h_v he_o to_o walk_v iâ—_n the_o light_n of_o his_o countenance_n than_o shall_v we_o esteem_v his_o love_n to_o be_v better_a than_o life_n so_o shall_v we_o delight_v more_o in_o he_o and_o both_o we_o and_o our_o service_n will_v be_v more_o please_v to_o he_o ephesus_z be_v charge_v with_o the_o decay_n of_o first-love_n sure_o this_o decay_n of_o heat_n have_v never_o be_v but_o that_o she_o have_v withdraw_v herself_o from_o the_o sun_n she_o do_v not_o keep_v so_o close_o to_o christ_n as_o before_o perhaps_o the_o world_n do_v get_v between_o christ_n and_o her_o heart_n and_o keep_v off_o the_o heat_n and_o thereupon_o she_o cool_v and_o as_o you_o shall_v see_v some_o agâ—d_a person_n who_o blood_n be_v cold_a to_o stand_v in_o the_o sun_n for_o warmth_n so_o let_v we_o close_o with_o christ_n jesus_n come_v home_o to_o hâ—m_n that_o we_o may_v receive_v heat_n from_o he_o and_o let_v we_o be_v more_o watchful_a that_o we_o step_v not_o aside_o from_o he_o in_o time_n to_o come_v 6._o as_o the_o sun_n be_v able_a more_o effectual_o to_o thaw_v and_o melt_v the_o freeze_a ice_n than_o many_o thousand_o man_n with_o axe_n and_o bettle_n so_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o love_n manifest_v to_o the_o soul_n and_o shed_v into_o it_o be_v more_o effectual_a in_o melt_v a_o hard_a freeze_a heart_n into_o sound_n godly_a sorrow_n than_o a_o thousand_o threat_n or_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n therefore_o let_v not_o a_o afflict_a soul_n put_v back_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n tender_v unto_o it_o the_o offer_v of_o grace_n in_o christ-iâ—sus_a because_o it_o be_v not_o yet_o sufficient_o humble_v but_o so_o long_o as_o its_o conscience_n bear_v witness_v that_o it_o seek_v not_o mercy_n for_o a_o cloak_n of_o sin_n but_o for_o a_o motive_n to_o obedience_n let_v it_o with_o confidence_n apply_v the_o promise_n know_v that_o the_o apprehension_n of_o the_o love_n of_o christ_n shine_v upon_o the_o soul_n be_v of_o all_o other_o the_o most_o ready_a and_o the_o most_o excellent_a mean_n kind_o and_o sweet_o to_o melt_v and_o soften_v the_o heart_n and_o to_o conform_v it_o to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n this_o will_v make_v it_o yield_v and_o fit_v it_o to_o receive_v any_o stamp_n of_o grace_n that_o now_o it_o will_v be_v like_o wax_n before_o the_o fire_n that_o will_v be_v mould_v as_o it_o shall_v please_v the_o hand_n of_o god_n therefore_o do_v not_o stand_v back_o from_o christ_n because_o thou_o be_v sensible_a of_o too_o much_o hardeness_n in_o thy_o heart_n but_o rather_o come_v to_o he_o that_o this_o hardeness_n may_v be_v remove_v and_o thy_o heart_n may_v melt_v at_o his_o love_n 7._o let_v the_o glory_n and_o excellency_n of_o the_o sun_n make_v thou_o to_o admire_v the_o infinite_a glory_n and_o excellency_n of_o its_o the_o nourishment_n of_o the_o body_n and_o so_o for_o the_o preservation_n of_o life_n and_o this_o also_o yield_v abundant_a matter_n of_o delight_n and_o refreshment_n job_n say_v do_v not_o the_o ear_n try_v word_n and_o the_o mouth_n or_o palate_n taste_v his_o meat_n job_n 12.11_o that_o be_v do_v it_o not_o by_o taste_v try_v it_o for_o god_n have_v give_v this_o ability_n to_o the_o creature_n to_o try_v what_o be_v agreeable_a to_o their_o body_n and_o what_o be_v displease_v in_o the_o last_o place_n the_o touch_n or_o feel_v be_v may_v rise_v again_o a_o incorruptible_a immortal_a spiritual_a glorious_a body_n like_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n at_o his_o come_n through_o his_o mighty_a work_n whereby_o he_o be_v able_a to_o subdue_v all_o thing_n to_o himself_o sect_n 4._o iv._o even_o this_o earthly_a frame_n of_o the_o body_n prove_v it_o a_o hard_a thing_n to_o put_v off_o earthly_a affection_n and_o therefore_o care_n and_o strive_v shall_v be_v use_v in_o it_o the_o body_n be_v make_v of_o dust_n it_o will_v return_v to_o dust_n again_o not_o only_o in_o the_o final_a dissolution_n but_o also_o in_o the_o present_a inclination_n it_o now_o lean_v to_o the_o earth_n and_o rest_v on_o the_o earth_n man_n be_v deep_o in_o love_n with_o his_o own_o element_n and_o strong_o tie_v to_o it_o in_o his_o affection_n it_o be_v say_v of_o one_o that_o be_v one_o of_o three_o who_o demand_v of_o the_o orracle_n which_o shall_v be_v chief_a and_o hear_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v the_o man_n that_o first_o shall_v kiss_v his_o mother_n he_o fall_v down_o and_o kiss_v the_o earth_n as_o account_v it_o the_o common_a mother_n of_o all_o man_n be_v so_o in_o love_n with_o the_o earth_n that_o they_o embrace_v it_o and_o as_o it_o be_v kiss_v it_o in_o their_o affection_n as_o a_o mother_n out_o of_o who_o womb_n they_o have_v their_o beginning_n although_o the_o oracle_n of_o god_n word_n condemn_v this_o folly_n and_o teach_v they_o that_o thus_o do_v they_o shall_v be_v least_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o that_o this_o dote_a love_n of_o the_o world_n be_v enmity_n with_o god_n therefore_o we_o shall_v pray_v earnest_o to_o god_n that_o he_o will_v change_v this_o earthly_a temper_n of_o our_o soul_n into_o heavenly_a affection_n how_o needful_a be_v it_o for_o we_o to_o practice_v that_o of_o our_o saviour_n even_o to_o forsake_v ourselves_o ourselves_o be_v earth_n we_o must_v renounce_v our_o earthly_a self_n and_o deny_v ourselves_o for_o though_o we_o can_v restrain_v ourselves_o somewhat_o from_o outward_a earthly_a course_n yet_o so_o long_o as_o we_o keep_v our_o earthly_a affection_n our_o heart_n will_v cleave_v to_o the_o earth_n special_a cause_n we_o have_v to_o study_v that_o book_n of_o the_o wise_a man_n throughout_o which_o teach_v we_o the_o vanity_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n that_o be_v in_o earthly_a thing_n and_o to_o see_v and_o admire_v the_o treasure_n and_o riches_n of_o god_n kingdom_n that_o apprehend_v better_a thing_n we_o may_v make_v better_a account_n of_o these_o sect_n 5._o v._o in_o as_o much_o as_o god_n make_v our_o body_n we_o must_v yield_v up_o our_o body_n to_o his_o service_n for_o god_n make_v all_o thing_n for_o himself_o say_v the_o scripture_n he_o make_v not_o the_o body_n for_o the_o devil_n nor_o for_o the_o world_n nor_o for_o lust_n nor_o for_o drunkenness_n but_o for_o himself_o let_v we_o well_o consider_v this_o and_o learn_v to_o give_v god_n his_o due_n the_o idolater_n will_v bow_v with_o his_o body_n to_o idol_n and_o say_v that_o he_o keep_v his_o heart_n to_o god_n but_o he_o must_v know_v that_o god_n make_v the_o body_n as_o well_o as_o the_o soul_n and_o if_o he_o make_v all_o thing_n for_o himself_o than_o the_o body_n as_o well_o as_o any_o other_o thing_n the_o profane_a person_n that_o abuse_v his_o tongue_n to_o swear_v wanton_a wicked_a discourse_n to_o rail_v scoff_a etc._n etc._n the_o adulterer_n which_o sin_v against_o the_o whole_a body_n as_o the_o apostle_n show_v the_o drunkard_n who_o abuse_v his_o body_n to_o excess_n of_o swill_v and_o drink_v the_o wanton_a that_o abuse_v his_o eye_n to_o careless_a wander_a and_o open_v his_o ear_n to_o vanity_n he_o that_o please_v his_o palate_n and_o love_v his_o pleasure_n more_o than_o god_n he_o that_o think_v his_o body_n give_v he_o for_o no_o other_o purpose_n but_o either_o to_o drudge_n about_o earthly_a thing_n or_o to_o â—ast_v of_o earthly_a delight_n even_o such_o a_o one_o be_v apt_a to_o say_v he_o have_v a_o good_a heart_n towards_o god_n but_o be_v not_o deceive_v god_n make_v this_o body_n for_o himself_o and_o therefore_o we_o must_v not_o abuse_v any_o part_n of_o the_o body_n to_o his_o dishonour_n nor_o make_v any_o member_n of_o it_o a_o instrument_n of_o unrighteousness_n but_o to_o give_v up_o the_o member_n of_o our_o body_n as_o instrument_n of_o righteousness_n unto_o holiness_n let_v we_o not_o think_v a_o little_a pain_n of_o the_o body_n too_o much_o to_o bestow_v in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n in_o hear_v the_o word_n in_o prayer_n in_o humiliation_n etc._n etc._n but_o let_v we_o glorify_v god_n as_o in_o our_o soul_n especial_o so_o in_o our_o body_n also_o for_o they_o be_v god_n as_o well_o as_o our_o soul_n sect_n 6._o vi_o in_o that_o god_n make_v the_o body_n care_n must_v be_v use_v to_o preserve_v and_o not_o to_o destroy_v thy_o own_o body_n or_o thy_o brother_n we_o must_v not_o pull_v down_o this_o tabernacle_n which_o god_n himself_o have_v pitch_v but_o must_v leave_v it_o to_o his_o dispose_n use_v all_o lawful_a mean_n to_o keep_v it_o up_o and_o to_o preserve_v it_o strong_a until_o he_o please_v to_o dissolve_v it_o shun_v intemperancy_n and_o excess_n in_o thing_n that_o please_v the_o appetite_n in_o meat_n and_o drink_n etc._n etc._n use_v those_o mean_n which_o god_n have_v give_v thou_o to_o repair_v this_o house_n which_o god_n himself_o have_v build_v for_o thy_o soul_n to_o dwell_v in_o let_v the_o life_n and_o body_n of_o another_o be_v precious_a in_o thy_o sight_n and_o do_v thy_o endeavour_n to_o preserve_v it_o and_o let_v we_o know_v that_o in_o some_o case_n not_o to_o save_v life_n be_v to_o destroy_v viz._n when_o there_o be_v special_a mean_n call_v and_o opportunity_n to_o do_v it_o in_o time_n of_o necessity_n some_o mean_n must_v be_v use_v to_o prevent_v the_o famish_v of_o many_o therefore_o at_o such_o time_n we_o shall_v free_o give_v without_o grudge_v to_o the_o relief_n of_o other_o remember_v that_o it_o be_v for_o the_o preservation_n of_o those_o body_n which_o god_n have_v make_v and_o let_v this_o keep_v thou_o from_o lay_v violent_a hand_n on_o thy_o own_o body_n it_o be_v a_o loud_a cry_a sin_n to_o destroy_v another_o body_n because_o god_n have_v make_v it_o but_o most_o horrible_a to_o destroy_v thy_o own_o since_o god_n have_v make_v it_o and_o have_v give_v thou_o a_o special_a charge_n to_o keep_v it_o moreover_o since_o god_n have_v make_v the_o body_n let_v we_o rely_v upon_o he_o for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o the_o body_n he_o have_v make_v it_o and_o he_o will_v keep_v it_o he_o have_v give_v a_o mouth_n and_o he_o will_v give_v meat_n he_o have_v give_v a_o back_n and_o he_o will_v clothe_v it_o thus_o may_v a_o christian_a that_o have_v recover_v his_o forfeiture_n in_o christ_n reason_n from_o the_o love_n and_o promise_v of_o god_n and_o therefore_o in_o hard_a time_n our_o want_n shall_v be_v special_a motive_n to_o drive_v we_o home_o to_o god_n through_o christ_n that_o be_v in_o he_o we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o of_o all_o needful_a supply_n for_o the_o body_n from_o his_o hand_n that_o make_v it_o there_o be_v not_o the_o poor_a among_o we_o but_o if_o they_o will_v effectual_o turn_v to_o god_n and_o depend_v upon_o he_o they_o shall_v find_v they_o have_v no_o cause_n to_o despair_v in_o regard_n of_o bodily_a help_n they_o shall_v find_v he_o supply_v or_o support_v and_o one_o way_n or_o other_o provide_v for_o they_o sect_n 7._o vii_o have_v god_n make_v thy_o body_n upright_o and_o look_v up_o towards_o heaven_n this_o shall_v teach_v thou_o to_o mind_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v above_o to_o be_v heavenly-minded_n it_o be_v a_o great_a shame_n that_o the_o body_n shall_v look_v upward_o and_o the_o soul_n and_o affection_n bend_v downward_o to_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o earth_n there_o be_v many_o time_n a_o upright_a body_n and_o curva_n interras_fw-la anima_fw-la a_o crook-backed_a soul_n lean_v towards_o the_o earth_n so_o that_o whereas_o the_o soul_n shall_v raise_v the_o body_n and_o make_v it_o the_o better_a because_o of_o its_o union_n with_o a_o immortal_a spirit_n it_o rather_o
body_n have_v a_o power_n to_o draw_v blood_n from_o the_o liver_n which_o be_v far_o below_o they_o as_o well_o as_o the_o low_a part_n and_o in_o this_o the_o wonderful_a wisdom_n of_o god_n be_v clear_o manifest_v 2._o there_o be_v a_o retentive_a faculty_n or_o a_o power_n of_o keep_v that_o nourishment_n a_o convenient_a time_n till_o it_o may_v be_v so_o wrought_v upon_o and_o perfect_v as_o to_o turn_v into_o one_o substance_n with_o the_o body_n and_o to_o refresh_v its_o part_n but_o lâ—st_v nature_n shall_v suck_v poison_n instead_o of_o nourishment_n or_o digest_v that_o into_o its_o substance_n which_o be_v hurtful_a 3._o the_o lord_n have_v add_v for_o its_o far_a security_n and_o benefit_n a_o expulsive_a faculty_n or_o a_o power_n of_o cast_v out_o such_o matter_n as_o be_v superfluous_a and_o burdensome_a and_o not_o fit_a for_o nourishment_n whence_o come_v many_o flux_n from_o the_o head_n and_o sweat_v over_o the_o whole_a body_n beside_o those_o gross_a excrement_n whereof_o nature_n be_v daily_o â—ased_v in_o these_o also_o the_o admirable_a wisdom_n of_o god_n be_v manifest_v and_o when_o we_o enjoy_v the_o use_n of_o any_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n we_o shall_v glorify_v he_o that_o make_v they_o moreover_o there_o be_v also_o a_o generative_a faculty_n or_o power_n of_o propagation_n which_o god_n give_v to_o tree_n plant_n beast_n bird_n fish_n man_n blessing_n they_o and_o bid_v they_o to_o increase_v and_o multiply_v sect_n 3._o 2._o of_o the_o sensitive_a part_n there_o be_v both_o the_o sense_n and_o the_o affection_n the_o sense_n outward_a and_o inward_a of_o the_o outward_a sense_n somewhat_o be_v brief_o speak_v when_o we_o speak_v of_o those_o part_n of_o the_o body_n that_o be_v instrument_n of_o those_o sense_n the_o inward_a sense_n be_v conceive_v to_o be_v three_o the_o common_a sense_n the_o fancy_n the_o memory_n 1._o the_o common_a sense_n which_o be_v say_v to_o receive_v the_o object_n of_o all_o the_o former_a and_o be_v think_v to_o be_v place_v in_o the_o middle_a part_n of_o the_o brain_n 3._o the_o memory_n which_o keep_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v receive_v in_o by_o the_o other_o and_o lay_v they_o up_o as_o in_o a_o treasury_n and_o the_o seat_n of_o this_o be_v in_o the_o hindermost_a part_n of_o the_o brain_n and_o in_o this_o most_o admirable_a be_v the_o wisdom_n and_o power_n of_o god_n that_o certain_a image_n of_o thing_n long_o since_o see_v or_o hear_v shall_v be_v lay_v up_o in_o a_o corner_n of_o the_o brain_n and_o there_o preserve_v many_o year_n and_o call_v to_o mind_n though_o they_o be_v the_o resemblance_n of_o many_o thousand_o several_a thing_n some_o memory_n be_v far_o worse_o than_o other_o yet_o even_o the_o mean_a ordinary_a memory_n be_v wonderful_a if_o we_o do_v right_o consider_v that_o in_o so_o narrow_a a_o compass_n the_o shape_n and_o likeness_n of_o so_o many_o several_a thing_n shall_v be_v preserve_v yea_o even_o this_o be_v suppose_v hurtful_a for_o though_o good_a thing_n be_v often_o hate_v yet_o there_o be_v a_o apprehension_n of_o evil_n in_o they_o and_o if_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o affection_n as_o create_v of_o god_n than_o nothing_o be_v belove_v but_o that_o which_o be_v true_o good_a nor_o hate_v but_o that_o which_o be_v true_o evil_a but_o of_o the_o integrity_n of_o the_o affection_n we_o may_v speak_v when_o we_o come_v to_o speak_v of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o man._n desire_v be_v a_o affection_n of_o the_o heart_n reach_v after_o some_o good_a thing_n which_o be_v absent_a desire_n contrary_a to_o which_o be_v detestation_n detestation_n or_o abhor_v of_o that_o which_o may_v hereafter_o happen_v be_v conceive_v to_o be_v evil_a these_o two_o may_v be_v express_v by_o hunger_n and_o thirst_n on_o the_o one_o side_n and_o on_o the_o other_o a_o loathe_n of_o meat_n in_o the_o stomach_n when_o the_o heart_n rise_v with_o dislike_n at_o some_o thing_n which_o as_o yet_o be_v lord_n and_o master_n his_o heart_n rise_v against_o it_o and_o he_o detest_v it_o this_o be_v not_o only_o a_o simple_a and_o mere_a hatred_n of_o it_o as_o a_o thing_n evil_a which_o be_v direct_o contrary_a to_o love_v but_o also_o a_o detestation_n of_o it_o as_o a_o evil_a that_o may_v happen_v or_o be_v foretell_v shall_v happen_v to_o he_o though_o now_o he_o be_v free_a from_o it_o which_o be_v a_o affection_n contrary_a to_o desire_v in_o the_o next_o place_n be_v joy_n which_o be_v a_o affection_n of_o the_o heart_n please_v and_o rest_v itself_o in_o some_o good_a thing_n enjoy_v joy._n in_o this_o affection_n there_o must_v be_v some_o good_a true_a or_o seem_v in_o possession_n which_o do_v so_o affect_v the_o heart_n as_o to_o rest_v itself_o with_o some_o contentment_n in_o it_o opposite_a to_o this_o sorrow_n be_v sorrow_n which_o be_v a_o affection_n of_o the_o heart_n distaste_v some_o evil_n already_o feel_v now_o i_o can_v see_v how_o this_o affection_n shall_v be_v exercise_v in_o the_o state_n of_o innocence_n because_o man_n have_v no_o cause_n of_o sorrow_n unless_o it_o may_v be_v suppose_v that_o he_o know_v of_o the_o angel_n fall_v and_o rebellion_n against_o the_o lord_n which_o be_v not_o likely_a howsoever_o the_o faculty_n no_o doubt_n be_v then_o give_v unto_o man_n by_o the_o lord_n who_o foresee_v a_o world_n of_o woe_n and_o sorrow_n which_o man_n will_v fall_v into_o who_o know_v that_o of_o all_o affection_n this_o of_o sorrow_n can_v not_o want_v work_n nor_o be_v idle_a for_o want_v of_o matter_n to_o beget_v a_o son_n in_o his_o own_o likeness_n after_o his_o image_n in_o the_o other_o sense_n a_o image_n be_v that_o which_o be_v make_v like_o to_o another_o frame_v of_o purpose_n to_o resemble_v it_o so_o be_v a_o picture_n or_o a_o statue_n make_v by_o art_n to_o represent_v some_o person_n and_o such_o be_v the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o man_n for_o the_o lord_n do_v purposely_o as_o you_o see_v by_o the_o consultation_n make_v man_n like_o himself_o to_o resemble_v he_o and_o to_o bear_v his_o image_n sect_n 2._o in_o the_o second_o place_n i_o come_v to_o show_v wherein_o this_o image_n of_o god_n in_o man_n consist_v and_o what_o it_o be_v this_o be_v in_o general_n that_o perfection_n which_o god_n give_v unto_o man_n in_o his_o first_o creation_n general_n for_o god_n be_v second_o adam_n and_o receive_v that_o spiritual_a life_n from_o he_o again_o which_o the_o first_o adam_n receive_v but_o lose_v now_o if_o the_o first_o adam_n have_v continue_v in_o his_o first_o estate_n and_o keep_v the_o image_n of_o god_n there_o have_v be_v no_o need_n of_o the_o second_o adam_n for_o all_o man_n by_o their_o natural_a birth_n shall_v have_v receive_v from_o he_o that_o supernatural_a life_n together_o with_o the_o natural_a but_o this_o first_o adam_n have_v lose_v the_o image_n of_o god_n be_v now_o but_o the_o author_n of_o a_o imperfect_a generation_n of_o man_n natural_o alive_a but_o spiritual_o dead_a and_o therefore_o there_o be_v need_n of_o a_o second_o adam_n who_o shall_v be_v the_o author_n of_o a_o new_a birth_n and_o shall_v give_v a_o new_a a_o second_o a_o spiritual_a life_n and_o be_v to_o those_o who_o be_v natural_o dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n so_o that_o by_o this_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o that_o new_a be_v and_o spiritual_a life_n which_o christ_n by_o his_o spirit_n restore_v to_o his_o member_n be_v that_o very_a image_n of_o god_n which_o god_n make_v in_o man_n at_o the_o first_o and_o this_o you_o see_v do_v principal_o consist_v in_o knowledge_n holiness_n and_o righteousness_n which_o be_v the_o perfection_n of_o the_o understand_a judgement_n conscience_n will_n and_o affection_n chap._n 8._o sect_n 1._o 1._o for_o his_o understanding_n he_o have_v all_o knowledge_n needful_a for_o a_o perfect_a man_n both_o concern_v the_o creator_n and_o the_o creature_n his_o creator_n he_o know_v perfect_o perfect_o i_o say_v not_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o object_n or_o person_n know_v who_o be_v infinite_a but_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o subject_n or_o person_n know_v man_n understanding_n be_v not_o infinite_a and_o therefore_o can_v not_o have_v such_o a_o knowledge_n of_o god_n as_o be_v a_o full_a declaration_n and_o apprehension_n of_o a_o infinite_a god_n but_o
it_o be_v perfect_a in_o its_o kind_n and_o therefore_o he_o have_v so_o much_o knowledge_n of_o his_o excellency_n as_o be_v sufficient_a to_o make_v he_o admire_v he_o love_v he_o magnify_v he_o above_o all_o thing_n and_o so_o much_o as_o be_v sufficient_a clear_o to_o direct_v he_o in_o any_o duty_n which_o by_o the_o first_o covenant_n and_o law_n of_o his_o creation_n he_o owe_v unto_o he_o so_o that_o as_o god_n know_v himself_o so_o man_n have_v a_o clear_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o therein_o do_v bear_v his_o image_n then_o have_v he_o also_o a_o perfect_a knowledge_n of_o the_o creature_n sc_n of_o himself_o and_o other_o himself_o he_o know_v both_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o well_o understand_v the_o nature_n and_o virtue_n of_o each_o faculty_n in_o the_o one_o and_o the_o temper_n and_o use_v of_o each_o member_n or_o part_n in_o the_o other_o and_o this_o appear_v by_o the_o knowledge_n which_o he_o have_v of_o the_o woman_n at_o the_o first_o sight_n this_o be_v bone_n of_o my_o bone_n and_o flesh_n of_o my_o flesh_n she_o shall_v be_v call_v woman_n because_o she_o be_v take_v out_o of_o man._n he_o have_v a_o perfect_a knowledge_n of_o all_o the_o other_o creature_n here_o below_o he_o know_v the_o tree_n of_o the_o garden_n the_o herb_n grass_n and_o all_o sort_n of_o plant_n and_o the_o natural_a virtue_n and_o property_n that_o be_v in_o they_o he_o know_v the_o beast_n of_o the_o field_n the_o fowl_n of_o the_o air_n and_o fish_n of_o the_o sea_n and_o so_o adam_n give_v fit_a and_o proper_a name_n to_o all_o bird_n and_o beast_n so_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o he_o know_v the_o nature_n and_o several_a kind_n of_o all_o mineral_n metal_n precious_a stone_n etc._n etc._n together_o with_o the_o course_n and_o motion_n of_o the_o heaven_n sun_n moon_n and_o sâ—ars_n thus_o do_v the_o understanding_n which_o be_v the_o eye_n of_o man_n soul_n represent_v the_o infinite_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o bear_v its_o image_n and_o those_o thing_n which_o we_o call_v now_o hide_a quality_n in_o the_o creature_n be_v not_o hide_v from_o he_o and_o be_v now_o cover_v from_o we_o not_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o own_o nature_n but_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o blindness_n contrary_a to_o that_o light_n which_o be_v natural_a to_o we_o in_o the_o creation_n but_o all_o this_o while_n man_n have_v no_o knowledge_n of_o evil_n he_o know_v not_o what_o ignorance_n or_o error_n mean_v he_o know_v not_o what_o a_o stubborn_a will_n a_o hard_a heart_n a_o pollute_a conscience_n be_v he_o have_v no_o knowledge_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o disease_n nor_o of_o their_o remedy_n no_o nor_o of_o the_o cure_n of_o sin_n nor_o of_o the_o wash_n away_o of_o its_o guilt_n and_o pollution_n therefore_o the_o promise_n of_o this_o new_a kind_n of_o knowledge_n make_v by_o satan_n cause_v the_o woman_n ear_n to_o itch_n and_o her_o heart_n to_o long_o as_o imagine_v herself_o capable_a of_o some_o high_a perfection_n which_o god_n have_v not_o give_v she_o for_o this_o knowledge_n concern_v not_o that_o estate_n of_o man_n or_o do_v it_o make_v for_o his_o happiness_n sect_n 2._o ii_o his_o will_n be_v perfect_o bend_v good_a beyond_o comparison_n and_o he_o love_v whatsoever_o be_v agreeable_a unto_o god_n and_o herein_o he_o do_v resemble_v god_n who_o love_v himself_o with_o a_o most_o perfect_a love_n and_o love_v whatsoever_o be_v agreeable_a to_o himself_o he_o perfect_o hate_v whatsoever_o be_v contrary_a to_o god_n all_o manner_n of_o sin_n and_o transgression_n as_o the_o lord_n also_o hate_v it_o if_o he_o have_v any_o actual_a desire_n it_o be_v most_o holy_a but_o i_o see_v not_o what_o he_o can_v actual_o desire_v in_o that_o estate_n unless_o it_o be_v the_o continuance_n of_o that_o happiness_n which_o he_o have_v and_o that_o near_a communion_n with_o his_o god_n for_o he_o be_v full_a already_o and_o have_v as_o much_o joy_n holiness_n and_o happiness_n as_o he_o be_v capable_a of_o so_o that_o his_o desire_n of_o good_a be_v not_o b._n to_o have_v it_o increase_v but_o only_o to_o have_v it_o continue_v to_o he_o but_o he_o have_v not_o the_o least_o desire_n of_o any_o evil_n his_o joy_n be_v whole_o in_o god_n who_o be_v his_o happiness_n and_o in_o who_o he_o find_v most_o sweet_a and_o full_a contentment_n he_o have_v no_o matter_n of_o grief_n within_o or_o without_o he_o nothing_o that_o shall_v lessen_v his_o joy_n or_o embitter_v his_o comfort_n sin_n which_o be_v the_o fountain_n of_o sorrow_n be_v not_o then_o find_v in_o the_o world_n as_o for_o sorrow_n he_o have_v none_o actual_o stir_v in_o he_o though_o a_o ability_n he_o have_v which_o afterward_o he_o have_v much_o cause_n to_o employ_v his_o trust_n and_o confidence_n be_v in_o god_n have_v more_o than_o well-nigh_o slip_v but_o while_o he_o remain_v in_o his_o state_n of_o creation_n he_o believe_v without_o doubt_v yet_o have_v he_o not_o actual_o faith_n in_o christ_n as_o a_o redeemer_n which_o be_v that_o grace_n whereby_o the_o elect_a in_o this_o new_a covenant_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v save_v for_o be_v free_a from_o sin_n he_o need_v not_o a_o redeemer_n to_o satisfy_v for_o his_o guilt_n by_o his_o death_n yet_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o he_o have_v a_o ability_n to_o believe_v whatsoever_o god_n shall_v reveal_v unto_o he_o and_o so_o to_o have_v believe_v this_o truth_n if_o it_o have_v be_v reveal_v aâ—_n for_o fear_n he_o be_v free_a from_o all_o slavish_a fear_n of_o vengeance_n or_o misery_n perfect_a love_n cast_v out_o all_o such_o kind_n of_o fear_n yet_o i_o be_o persuade_v that_o he_o can_v not_o want_v a_o holy_a humble_a reverence_n and_o submissive_a respect_n unto_o his_o maker_n courage_n he_o have_v in_o perfection_n not_o fear_v all_o the_o world_n while_o he_o know_v that_o god_n be_v with_o he_o as_o for_o desperation_n it_o be_v far_o from_o the_o height_n of_o his_o happiness_n who_o be_v not_o subject_a to_o the_o least_o distrust_n a_o holy_a anger_n a_o divine_a flame_n of_o zeal_n for_o his_o belove_a creator_n glory_n i_o can_v think_v be_v want_v in_o he_o inasmuch_o as_o the_o very_a angel_n be_v call_v seraphim_n or_o fiery_a spirit_n thus_o bright_o do_v the_o image_n of_o god_n shine_v in_o the_o face_n of_o man_n soul_n at_o his_o first_o creation_n and_o though_o he_o be_v infinite_o unequal_a to_o he_o he_o have_v not_o any_o spot_n of_o sin_n or_o impurity_n in_o he_o to_o make_v he_o unlike_a or_o contrary_a to_o he_o that_o make_v he_o god_n make_v man_n upright_o say_v the_o wise_a man_n eccles._n 7.29_o and_o so_o he_o make_v he_o like_o himself_o sect_n 3._o 3._o but_o beside_o these_o excellency_n he_o do_v also_o otherwise_o resemble_v his_o creator_n and_o that_o be_v the_o second_o thing_n the_o inferior_a part_n of_o god_n image_n in_o man_n and_o that_o in_o two_o sort_n of_o thing_n 1._o in_o thing_n belong_v to_o the_o body_n itself_o 2._o in_o thing_n without_o his_o body_n 1._o of_o the_o thing_n belong_v to_o the_o body_n you_o have_v hear_v before_o when_o i_o speak_v of_o the_o creation_n of_o the_o body_n sc_n the_o beauty_n and_o excellent_a temper_n of_o the_o body_n for_o though_o the_o lord_n have_v no_o body_n be_v a_o infinite_a and_o most_o glorious_a be_v yet_o these_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v excellency_n and_o thing_n that_o make_v somewhat_o for_o the_o happiness_n of_o man_n they_o be_v in_o some_o sort_n resemblance_n of_o the_o divine_a glory_n and_o excellency_n of_o god_n to_o these_o i_o may_v add_v also_o immortality_n for_o the_o body_n also_o be_v by_o the_o goodness_n of_o its_o maker_n free_a from_o death_n have_v not_o sin_n make_v a_o forfeiture_n of_o his_o life_n
