the_o grave_a the_o coal_n thereof_o be_v coal_n of_o fire_n which_o have_v a_o most_o vehement_a flame_n many_o water_n can_v quench_v love_n neither_o can_v the_o flood_n drown_v it_o if_o a_o man_n will_v give_v all_o the_o substance_n of_o his_o house_n for_o love_n that_o be_v to_o buy_v that_o love_n off_o from_o christ_n that_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o it_o if_o a_o man_n will_v give_v a_o chaste_a and_o inviolable_a love_n to_o jesus_n christ_n that_o all_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o world_n will_v be_v utter_o contemn_v whether_o christ_n have_v set_v we_o as_o a_o seal_n upon_o his_o heart_n and_o arm_v it_o be_v impossible_a then_o it_o shall_v ever_o be_v take_v off_o 3._o the_o three_o be_v this_o when_o once_o we_o come_v to_o be_v thus_o unite_v to_o christ_n in_o the_o chasteness_n and_o purity_n of_o our_o affection_n in_o the_o sense_n of_o his_o love_n to_o we_o and_o our_o love_n to_o he_o immediate_o there_o follow_v and_o all_o along_o there_o follow_v a_o self-resignation_n and_o obedience_n and_o it_o can_v be_v otherwise_o for_o love_n from_o a_o worthy_a person_n have_v a_o great_a command_n over_o those_o that_o be_v love_v it_o have_v a_o mighty_a command_n on_o the_o person_n love_v to_o engage_v to_o love_n again_o so_o that_o they_o be_v willing_a to_o do_v any_o thing_n to_o give_v up_o themselves_o to_o the_o will_n of_o the_o person_n that_o love_v and_o be_v love_v upon_o his_o love_n first_o and_o this_o be_v most_o due_a indeed_o to_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n because_o he_o be_v the_o most_o excellent_a of_o all_o that_o can_v be_v propose_v to_o we_o and_o he_o have_v love_v we_o and_o wash_v we_o in_o his_o blood_n and_o he_o thus_o win_v we_o to_o his_o own_o holiness_n eph._n 5._o say_v the_o apostle_n the_o will_v say_v but_o how_o can_v we_o say_v this_o we_o find_v many_o imperfection_n in_o our_o obedience_n many_o motion_n in_o our_o heart_n that_o be_v disloyal_a to_o jesus_n christ_n and_o be_v not_o at_o all_o according_a to_o the_o obligation_n that_o lie_v upon_o we_o answ_n because_o we_o be_v go_v on_o to_o perfection_n in_o this_o state_n and_o because_o we_o find_v that_o we_o be_v under_o a_o degree_n of_o captivity_n and_o not_o perfect_o free_v therefore_o the_o soul_n cry_v out_o earnest_o for_o the_o come_n of_o the_o great_a bridegroom_n i_o shall_v but_o make_v two_o or_o three_o expression_n of_o application_n and_o so_o conclude_v this_o point_n 1._o in_o the_o first_o place_n i_o beseech_v you_o that_o you_o will_v consider_v what_o your_o christianity_n be_v if_o it_o be_v not_o so_o strict_a a_o adherence_n of_o your_o soul_n and_o affection_n to_o christ_n as_o every_o wise_a and_o prudent_a and_o good_a husband_n require_v and_o expect_v from_o his_o wife_n and_o virtuous_a woman_n and_o wife_n be_v to_o the_o most_o honourable_a and_o worthy_a husband_n there_o be_v not_o any_o thing_n then_o that_o can_v or_o aught_o or_o be_v possible_a to_o come_v between_o our_o soul_n and_o jesus_n christ_n and_o if_o we_o cry_v out_o alas_o we_o be_v not_o able_a hereunto_o we_o do_v not_o find_v this_o i_o shall_v after_o by_o the_o grace_n and_o assistance_n of_o god_n press_v upon_o you_o every_o such_o discovery_n of_o the_o remain_a defection_n and_o falseness_n of_o our_o heart_n it_o shall_v make_v we_o cry_v out_o earnest_o come_v thou_o belove_v of_o my_o soul_n that_o there_o may_v be_v a_o entire_a and_o a_o perfect_a union_n between_o i_o and_o thou_o betwixt_o thyself_o and_o my_o heart_n this_o it_o shall_v make_v we_o regard_n of_o the_o present_a state_n of_o flesh_n and_o blood_n there_o will_v be_v some_o wander_n of_o heart_n but_o the_o spirit_n be_v steadfast_a and_o jealous_a over_o those_o unholy_a and_o impure_a motion_n towards_o sin_n flesh_n and_o the_o world_n and_o it_o gather_v itself_o back_o and_o it_o humble_v itself_o and_o it_o bewail_v itself_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o trayterousness_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o corrupt_a part_n wherein_o it_o do_v any_o way_n behave_v itself_o unworthy_o towards_o jesus_n christ_n that_o saviour_n of_o itself_o he_o be_v the_o saviour_n of_o the_o body_n and_o therefore_o the_o church_n be_v subject_a to_o he_o and_o then_o 2._o in_o the_o second_o place_n it_o shall_v teach_v we_o very_o vehement_o to_o look_v and_o cry_v out_o for_o that_o time_n of_o free_a and_o full_a enjoyment_n of_o christ_n i_o wonder_v we_o shall_v not_o be_v earnest_o desirous_a when_o i_o consider_v the_o reason_n the_o necessity_n and_o the_o great_a obligation_n which_o lie_v upon_o we_o i_o wonder_v we_o be_v not_o more_o earnest_a to_o die_v and_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n we_o be_v apt_a to_o think_v there_o be_v a_o state_n of_o the_o world_n ordain_v wherein_o we_o shall_v have_v such_o and_o such_o enjoyment_n and_o bear_v up_o ourselves_o for_o a_o time_n while_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n we_o forget_v jesus_n christ_n but_o hereafter_o it_o will_v be_v endeavour_v to_o be_v make_v plain_a in_o this_o discourse_n that_o either_o to_o go_v out_o of_o the_o body_n and_o to_o be_v with_o jesus_n christ_n in_o spirit_n or_o to_o have_v the_o whole_a frame_n of_o this_o world_n unpin_v and_o disjointed_a one_o part_n from_o another_o that_o there_o may_v come_v that_o glorious_a kingdom_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o that_o marriage_n of_o the_o lamb_n and_o come_v down_o of_o that_o new-jerusalem_n and_o ourselves_o as_o a_o part_n of_o it_o as_o a_o bride_n adorn_v for_o her_o husband_n be_v the_o inward_a groan_n of_o every_o saint_n these_o thing_n shall_v be_v sweet_a to_o we_o and_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v gulp_v down_o by_o the_o present_a temptation_n of_o the_o world_n which_o have_v so_o much_o force_n because_o our_o heart_n be_v not_o steady_a to_o christ_n o_o let_v we_o look_v earnest_o for_o that_o love_n which_o many_o water_n can_v quench_v nor_o the_o flood_n drown_v and_o if_o we_o find_v that_o we_o can_v be_v as_o we_o will_v be_v we_o shall_v therefore_o cry_v out_o make_v haste_n o_o beloved_n and_o appear_v upon_o the_o mountain_n of_o spice_n that_o we_o may_v be_v for_o ever_o quiet_a and_o therefore_o i_o say_v christ_n have_v give_v we_o the_o whole_a frame_n of_o the_o doctrine_n in_o a_o parable_n of_o virgin_n in_o a_o representation_n of_o a_o virgin-state_n indeed_o in_o some_o place_n of_o scripture_n this_o metaphor_n or_o resemblance_n of_o a_o virgin_n import_v the_o truth_n and_o the_o power_n of_o grace_n and_o where_o there_o be_v no_o want_n of_o all_o that_o excellency_n of_o christianity_n that_o be_v necessary_a to_o the_o perfection_n and_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o it_o in_o this_o present_a state_n but_o here_o it_o be_v otherwise_o and_o it_o be_v to_o this_o very_a purpose_n that_o none_o of_o we_o may_v rest_v in_o a_o outward_a profession_n and_o therefore_o we_o may_v observe_v the_o several_a particular_n under_o this_o virgin-state_n that_o our_o lord_n have_v represent_v first_o of_o all_o that_o five_o be_v wise_a and_o five_o be_v foolish_a and_o then_o in_o the_o second_o place_n wherein_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o one_o and_o folly_n of_o the_o other_o consist_v the_o wisdom_n be_v in_o take_v oil_n in_o the_o vessel_n with_o their_o lamp_n the_o folly_n be_v in_o take_v no_o oil_n with_o they_o but_o only_o in_o their_o lamp_n but_o think_v to_o make_v a_o shift_n as_o we_o say_v with_o what_o be_v in_o the_o profession_n in_o the_o three_o place_n we_o have_v the_o consideration_n of_o their_o behaviour_n or_o of_o their_o state_n in_o the_o time_n between_o the_o preach_a of_o the_o gospel_n first_o and_o then_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o nuptial_n while_o the_o bridegroom_n tarry_v they_o all_o slumber_v and_o sleep_v i_o must_v indeed_o let_v you_o know_v that_o i_o interpret_v this_o otherwise_o than_o the_o generality_n of_o those_o that_o have_v speak_v or_o write_v upon_o it_o have_v do_v for_o this_o slumber_v and_o sleep_v i_o do_v not_o look_v upon_o as_o the_o same_o that_o they_o be_v in_o a_o spiritual_a slumber_n not_o sleep_n but_o i_o look_v upon_o it_o only_o as_o suitable_a to_o the_o parable_n to_o be_v a_o representation_n of_o the_o die_a of_o those_o that_o make_v profession_n of_o christianity_n that_o be_v throughout_o the_o time_n that_o great_a space_n of_o time_n between_o those_o two_o point_n viz._n the_o fullness_n of_o time_n and_o the_o fullness_n of_o all_o time_n there_o be_v many_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n many_o of_o those_o that_o be_v virgin_n in_o their_o profession_n and_o they_o then_o slumber_v then_o sleep_v that_o be_v they_o have_v die_v and_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n in_o this_o state_n of_o profession_n now_o the_o reason_n that_o i_o give_v why_o i_o shall_v so_o interpretet_fw-la be_v this_o because_o it_o be_v very_o plain_a by_o what_o our_o saviour_n speak_v that_o the_o wise_a virgin_n do_v never_o spiritual_o sleep_v they_o be_v not_o in_o a_o spiritual_a sleep_n that_o be_v it_o be_v not_o the_o character_n of_o their_o state_n and_o therefore_o i_o look_v upon_o it_o only_o thus_o as_o solomon_n say_v they_o have_v come_v and_o go_v from_o the_o place_n of_o judgement_n so_o i_o say_v they_o have_v come_v and_o go_v out_o of_o the_o state_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o profession_n of_o christianity_n and_o they_o have_v enter_v into_o a_o state_n which_o to_o we_o that_o be_v here_o in_o the_o world_n look_v like_o midnight_n sleep_v as_o now_o if_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o apostle_n that_o have_v die_v they_o have_v as_o it_o be_v deep_o sleep_v ever_o since_o the_o time_n that_o they_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n and_o so_o the_o saint_n that_o we_o have_v know_v here_o in_o the_o world_n we_o may_v say_v as_o the_o scripture_n do_v they_o fall_v asleep_o and_o there_o have_v be_v a_o slumber_n upon_o they_o as_o to_o their_o profession_n they_o have_v not_o manifest_v that_o life_n and_o power_n of_o christianity_n and_o then_o in_o the_o four_o place_n here_o be_v the_o case_n and_o the_o state_n of_o these_o virgin_n upon_o the_o come_n of_o the_o bridegroom_n at_o midnight_n there_o be_v a_o cry_n make_v behold_v the_o bridegroom_n come_v go_v you_o forth_o to_o meet_v he_o and_o that_o i_o look_v upon_o to_o be_v intend_v of_o the_o resurrection_n that_o voice_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n that_o they_o that_o be_v in_o the_o grave_n shall_v hear_v and_o they_o that_o hear_v shall_v live_v and_o they_o shall_v come_v forth_o out_o of_o their_o grave_n the_o wise_a and_o the_o foolish_a virgin_n they_o die_v alike_o and_o they_o come_v forth_o out_o of_o their_o grave_n that_o be_v both_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o rise_v again_o and_o appear_v before_o christ_n in_o the_o five_o place_n as_o soon_o as_o the_o body_n and_o soul_n or_o spirit_n be_v reunited_n immediate_o all_o those_o that_o be_v raise_v go_v to_o the_o trim_n of_o their_o lamp_n that_o be_v they_o immediate_o reflect_v upon_o what_o they_o have_v be_v do_v here_o in_o the_o world_n how_o they_o have_v live_v what_o they_o have_v act_v how_o they_o have_v answer_v their_o profession_n they_o arise_v and_o trim_v their_o lamp_n they_o come_v with_o that_o profession_n of_o christianity_n they_o have_v make_v and_o that_o be_v the_o second_o head_n of_o discourse_n in_o this_o parable_n and_o then_o the_o third_z be_v the_o result_n issue_n and_o event_n of_o all_o this_o what_o be_v the_o different_a state_n then_o of_o the_o wise_a and_o of_o the_o foolish_a as_o soon_o as_o ever_o the_o foolish_a virgin_n come_v to_o trial_n of_o their_o lamp_n immediate_o they_o find_v a_o want_n of_o oil._n they_o find_v a_o want_n of_o that_o power_n of_o that_o glory_n of_o that_o life_n of_o christianity_n that_o shall_v bear_v they_o up_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o wedding_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o that_o you_o may_v understand_v this_o parable_n you_o must_v consider_v that_o among_o those_o eastern_a nation_n their_o great_a solemnity_n be_v in_o the_o night_n their_o great_a nuptial_a feast_n and_o their_o great_a entertainment_n they_o be_v in_o the_o night_n and_o so_o every_o one_o do_v as_o it_o be_v bring_v their_o lamp_n here_o be_v the_o curious_a colour_n and_o art_n of_o the_o parable_n or_o the_o picture_n every_o person_n that_o come_v to_o those_o night-entertainment_n which_o be_v their_o great_a as_o i_o tell_v you_o they_o bring_v with_o they_o a_o lamp_n a_o light_n to_o stand_v by_o they_o and_o that_o so_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o feast_n or_o of_o the_o entertainment_n may_v arise_v from_o those_o many_o light_n that_o be_v shine_v together_o that_o every_o one_o bring_v now_o therefore_o say_v christ_n the_o foolish_a virgin_n come_v with_o their_o lamp_n and_o they_o have_v no_o oil_n they_o have_v no_o oil_n to_o bear_v out_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o feast_n the_o glory_n of_o the_o wedding_n of_o that_o great_a nuptial_a the_o marriage-supper_n of_o the_o lamb_n as_o it_o be_v call_v rev._n 19_o so_o as_o soon_o as_o ever_o they_o find_v the_o want_n of_o oil_n they_o be_v in_o a_o amazement_n they_o be_v immediate_o upon_o the_o earnest_a pursuit_n and_o care_n of_o the_o supply_n of_o that_o want_n when_o they_o find_v we_o shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v out_o with_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o wedding_n immediate_o they_o say_v to_o the_o wise_a give_v we_o of_o your_o oil._n but_o the_o wise_a say_v unto_o they_o not_o so_o lest_o there_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o we_o and_o you_o but_o go_v you_o rather_o to_o they_o that_o sell_v and_o buy_v for_o yourselves_o go_v and_o provide_v it_o go_v and_o take_v care_n while_o they_o go_v to_o buy_v the_o bridegroom_n come_v and_o they_o that_o be_v ready_a go_v in_o with_o he_o to_o the_o marriage_n and_o the_o door_n be_v shut_v present_o shut_v that_o be_v they_o go_v into_o the_o great_a hall_n to_o the_o great_a room_n of_o entertainment_n to_o the_o palace_n of_o the_o bridegroom_n they_o go_v in_o that_o be_v ready_a and_o the_o door_n be_v present_o shut_v if_o any_o one_o be_v not_o ready_a if_o they_o have_v not_o oil_n in_o their_o lamp_n the_o door_n be_v present_o shut_v if_o they_o have_v not_o such_o a_o provision_n as_o will_v bear_v out_o that_o entertainment_n and_o go_v to_o provide_v they_o be_v present_o shut_v out_o and_o here_o in_o the_o last_o place_n that_o be_v the_o great_a use_n and_o application_n that_o christ_n make_v of_o it_o watch_v therefore_o for_o you_o know_v neither_o the_o day_n nor_o the_o hour_n when_o the_o son_n of_o man_n come_v wherein_o our_o saviour_n still_o bear_v out_o according_a to_o
of_o conversation_n and_o therein_o to_o look_v for_o and_o to_o haste_v on_o to_o the_o day_n of_o god_n and_o with_o the_o spirit_n and_o under_o his_o influence_n and_o with_o the_o bridelike_a affection_n cry_v out_o as_o hearer_n move_v with_o a_o holy_a sympathy_n or_o likeness_n of_o affection_n even_o cry_v out_o in_o harmony_n come_v lord_n jesus_n come_v quick_o sermon_n vi_o on_o matthew_z 25._o v._o 1._o then_o shall_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n be_v liken_v unto_o ten_o virgin_n which_o take_v their_o lamp_n and_o go_v forth_o to_o meet_v the_o bridegroom_n etc._n etc._n particular_n herein_o and_o will_v go_v direct_o upon_o what_o be_v now_o before_o we_o and_o to_o be_v speak_v of_o and_o that_o be_v that_o while_o the_o bridegroom_n tarry_v all_o these_o virgin_n both_o the_o wise_a and_o the_o unwise_a slumber_v and_o sleep_v now_o it_o be_v indeed_o a_o great_a difficulty_n to_o find_v out_o the_o very_a meaning_n and_o sense_n of_o our_o lord_n in_o this_o part_n of_o the_o parable_n for_o it_o seem_v strange_a that_o not_o only_o the_o unwise_a but_o that_o the_o wise_a virgin_n slumber_v and_o sleep_v and_o to_o give_v a_o sense_n of_o this_o suitable_a to_o the_o meaning_n and_o to_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o parable_n i_o shall_v at_o this_o time_n by_o the_o assistance_n of_o god_n undertake_v and_o so_o to_o discourse_n of_o it_o according_o i_o observe_v therefore_o to_o you_o that_o here_o be_v two_o word_n use_v by_o our_o lord_n they_o slumber_v and_o they_o sleep_v i_o look_v upon_o these_o word_n to_o have_v two_o very_a mean_v one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n but_o i_o understand_v the_o first_o concern_v the_o spiritual_a state_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n during_o the_o delay_n of_o christ_n come_n and_o of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n all_o the_o whole_a state_n of_o the_o christian_a church_n have_v be_v from_o the_o very_a beginning_n of_o the_o work_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o iniquity_n it_o have_v be_v in_o a_o slumber_a condition_n but_o then_o the_o sleep_a i_o look_v upon_o that_o to_o be_v a_o expression_n of_o the_o die_a of_o the_o servant_n of_o christ_n all_o along_o from_o the_o time_n of_o the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n to_o this_o very_a time_n and_o the_o latter_a be_v consequent_a upon_o the_o former_a for_o i_o be_o full_o persuade_v that_o if_o the_o power_n and_o glory_n and_o vigour_n of_o christianity_n in_o a_o settle_a state_n of_o christianity_n if_o that_o have_v immediate_o follow_v upon_o the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o give_v of_o the_o you_o of_o it_o be_v this_o because_o the_o intention_n of_o our_o lord_n in_o this_o parable_n be_v chief_o that_o we_o may_v look_v to_o the_o power_n of_o christianity_n in_o our_o own_o heart_n to_o such_o a_o power_n of_o it_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o appear_v with_o christ_n when_o he_o come_v to_o the_o wedding_n that_o our_o lamp_n shall_v not_o then_o go_v out_o the_o great_a mean_v the_o great_a scope_n of_o the_o parable_n be_v this_o that_o we_o shall_v look_v to_o have_v the_o very_a life_n and_o truth_n of_o grace_n so_o in_o our_o heart_n that_o we_o may_v have_v a_o light_n of_o it_o when_o christ_n come_v that_o will_v not_o go_v out_o in_o the_o very_a time_n in_o that_o very_a instant_a time_n wherein_o we_o shall_v go_v with_o he_o to_o the_o wedding_n now_o it_o be_v very_o plain_a that_o the_o wise_a virgin_n indeed_o have_v this_o light_n for_o it_o be_v say_v of_o they_o ver_fw-la 10._o they_o that_o be_v ready_a which_o be_v speak_v of_o the_o wise_a virgin_n they_o go_v in_o with_o he_o to_o the_o marriage_n and_o the_o door_n be_v shut_v so_o that_o if_o the_o wise_a virgin_n have_v sleep_v in_o that_o sense_n that_o the_o wise_a virgin_n they_o do_v watch_v and_o they_o do_v not_o sleep_v in_o the_o main_a sense_n of_o the_o parable_n for_o they_o be_v ready_a to_o go_v in_o with_o he_o to_o the_o wedding_n although_o therefore_o they_o do_v die_v yet_o in_o the_o great_a concernment_n of_o eternity_n they_o do_v not_o sleep_v away_o their_o time_n they_o do_v not_o lose_v their_o opportunity_n of_o provide_v a_o treasure_n of_o oil._n a_o second_o reason_n that_o i_o give_v you_o why_o this_o sleep_a be_v not_o mean_v of_o the_o spiritual_a estate_n of_o these_o virgin_n but_o only_o of_o their_o die_a be_v because_o it_o be_v say_v at_o midnight_n there_o be_v a_o cry_n make_v and_o then_o they_o arise_v and_o trim_v their_o lamp_n now_o this_o midnight_n be_v that_o state_n of_o death_n in_o regard_n the_o rest_n of_o they_o they_o be_v all_o of_o they_o as_o it_o be_v in_o a_o midnight_n sleep_n as_o to_o their_o body_n and_o therefore_o the_o midnight_n be_v so_o proper_o to_o be_v understand_v whereas_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o spiritual_a state_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v before_o his_o come_v before_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o come_v it_o shall_v not_o be_v a_o midnight_n for_o as_o i_o have_v often_o endeavour_v to_o make_v plain_a unto_o you_o that_o assoon_o as_o ever_o those_o time_n time_n and_o half_a time_n of_o the_o antichristian_a power_n be_v at_o a_o end_n immediate_o a_o great_a light_n and_o a_o great_a glory_n of_o the_o gospel_n shall_v shine_v out_o that_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v a_o midnight_n indeed_o the_o light_n will_v not_o be_v perfect_o clear_a or_o precious_a till_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n but_o i_o can_v but_o hope_v and_o expect_v that_o within_o very_a few_o year_n there_o will_v be_v such_o a_o state_n of_o christianity_n such_o a_o state_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o everlasting_a gospel_n preach_v through_o the_o world_n there_o will_v be_v such_o a_o new_a mission_n and_o commission_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o christ_n that_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v to_o be_v account_v a_o midnight_n in_o that_o regard_n nor_o shall_v the_o come_v of_o christ_n be_v so_o on_o the_o sudden_a but_o that_o there_o will_v be_v great_a light_n concern_v it_o when_o that_o angel_n that_o fly_v through_o the_o midst_n of_o heaven_n rev._n 14._o shall_v have_v preach_v the_o everlasting_a gospel_n to_o every_o nation_n etc._n etc._n these_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o i_o can_v understand_v this_o word_n sleep_v to_o be_v a_o representation_n of_o the_o spiritual_a state_n of_o the_o church_n and_o gomorrah_n in_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n than_o for_o that_o city_n you_o see_v here_o sodom_n and_o gomorrah_n be_v to_o be_v under_o the_o cry_n of_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n and_o so_o i_o say_v those_o under_o that_o judgement_n late_o in_o that_o colony_n that_o part_n of_o this_o nation_n though_o beyond_o the_o sea_n there_o remain_v still_o and_o they_o be_v bind_v under_o the_o expectation_n and_o wait_v for_o a_o midnight-cry_a though_o they_o have_v have_v such_o a_o one_o already_o upon_o they_o and_o if_o such_o a_o judgement_n shall_v come_v upon_o this_o city_n or_o this_o nation_n that_o will_v not_o excuse_v any_o that_o be_v swallow_v up_o but_o they_o must_v expect_v such_o a_o midnight-cry_a to_o come_v upon_o they_o and_o this_o i_o desire_v you_o to_o take_v notice_n of_o that_o it_o may_v open_v to_o you_o and_o inform_v you_o of_o this_o midnight-cry_a whosoever_o therefore_o shall_v go_v down_o into_o the_o grave_a before_o the_o come_v of_o jesus_n christ_n you_o must_v lie_v down_o with_o this_o assurance_n this_o certainty_n that_o though_o you_o go_v never_o so_o quiet_a to_o the_o grave_a though_o you_o be_v conduct_v to_o those_o lodging_n and_o apartment_n of_o death_n with_o never_o so_o much_o order_n and_z with_o never_o so_o much_o silence_n yet_o there_o must_v be_v a_o midnight-cry_a to_o awake_v you_o out_o of_o those_o grave_n every_o one_o of_o we_o must_v be_v awaken_v by_o the_o midnight-cry_a and_o all_o that_o have_v go_v before_o we_o must_v awake_v by_o this_o midnight-cry_a arise_v every_o one_o and_o go_v forth_o to_o meet_v the_o bridegroom_n now_o this_o be_v the_o point_n therefore_o that_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o open_a to_o you_o concern_v the_o case_n and_o condition_n that_o person_n shall_v be_v in_o when_o they_o be_v awaken_v thus_o of_o a_o sudden_a for_o i_o tell_v you_o those_o slumbring_n express_v the_o drowsy_a state_n of_o christianity_n that_o be_v even_o now_o but_o this_o sleep_a proper_o express_v death_n and_o the_o midnight-cry_a that_o awaken_v out_o of_o that_o sleep_n it_o be_v that_o trump_n of_o god_n and_o that_o shout_n and_o voice_n of_o the_o archangel_n and_o that_o will_v be_v a_o cry_n indeed_o and_o so_o shrill_a that_o no_o grave_n can_v hide_v or_o remove_v we_o from_o it_o but_o it_o shall_v certain_o sound_v in_o the_o ear_n of_o the_o dead_a that_o they_o shall_v present_o at_o that_o very_a summons_n at_o that_o very_a cry_n they_o shall_v rise_v up_o immediate_o and_o whether_o they_o will_v or_o no_o they_o must_v go_v that_o have_v go_v out_o in_o their_o sin_n in_o their_o lust_n in_o their_o impurity_n in_o their_o false_a profession_n of_o christianity_n in_o that_o very_o same_o condition_n they_o must_v rise_v again_o the_o virgin_n that_o be_v wise_a they_o rise_v wise_a virgin_n at_o the_o midnight_n cry_n and_o the_o virgin_n that_o be_v foolish_a they_o be_v not_o mend_v by_o all_o that_o time_n that_o they_o have_v spend_v either_o their_o body_n in_o the_o grave_a or_o their_o spirit_n in_o what_o state_n soever_o but_o they_o rise_v foolish_a virgin_n for_o so_o you_o see_v here_o ver_fw-la 8._o the_o virgin_n all_o arise_v and_o trim_v their_o lamp_n and_o the_o foolish_a say_v the_o foolish_a be_v foolish_a still_o and_o they_o say_v unto_o the_o wise_a for_o the_o wise_a be_v wise_a still_o i_o shall_v therefore_o endeavour_v to_o make_v this_o point_n as_o plain_a to_o you_o and_o as_o forceable_a as_o i_o can_v by_o way_n of_o practice_n and_o engagement_n upon_o we_o to_o look_v well_o about_o we_o and_o to_o consider_v what_o our_o state_n and_o condition_n be_v because_o we_o shall_v rise_v the_o very_a same_o that_o we_o lie_v down_o and_o therefore_o i_o shall_v lay_v it_o out_o in_o these_o head_n of_o discourse_n first_o i_o shall_v open_v to_o you_o that_o those_o that_o rise_v at_o that_o midnight-cry_a they_o shall_v certain_o present_o know_v what_o their_o state_n and_o condition_n be_v and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o that_o which_o be_v the_o great_a wonder_n of_o the_o thing_n they_o shall_v so_o act_v and_o they_o shall_v so_o endeavour_v to_o demean_v themselves_o in_o mend_v their_o circumstance_n wherein_o they_o lie_v down_o as_o this_o parable_n represent_v and_o yet_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o do_v it_o this_o indeed_o may_v seem_v very_o wonderful_a as_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o open_a to_o you_o and_o then_o in_o the_o second_o place_n i_o shall_v show_v you_o how_o every_o person_n shall_v rise_v in_o such_o a_o kind_n of_o circumstance_n like_o one_o that_o hear_v the_o midnight-cry_a but_o more_o particular_o i_o shall_v open_v this_o in_o a_o foolish_a virgin_n state_n that_o be_v in_o a_o state_n wherein_o we_o seem_v to_o be_v true_o christian_n we_o hope_v so_o of_o ourselves_o and_o other_o hope_v so_o of_o we_o and_o yet_o we_o be_v not_o so_o and_o i_o shall_v open_v to_o you_o what_o a_o kind_n of_o struggle_v there_o will_v be_v notwithstanding_o such_o foolish_a virgin_n must_v needs_o know_v their_o state_n in_o the_o main_a yet_o the_o thing_n will_v be_v administer_v by_o god_n in_o such_o a_o marvellous_a manner_n that_o they_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o mend_v and_o to_o change_v the_o disadvantage_n of_o their_o present_a circumstance_n and_o then_o i_o shall_v conclude_v with_o application_n first_o therefore_o i_o shall_v begin_v with_o this_o that_o every_o person_n at_o that_o midnight-cry_a must_v needs_o present_o know_v his_o own_o state_n his_o own_o condition_n with_o relation_n to_o happiness_n or_o misery_n and_o this_o i_o shall_v open_v to_o you_o in_o these_o three_o evidence_n or_o argument_n that_o every_o person_n must_v needs_o at_o that_o mid-night-cry_a immediate_o know_v and_o discover_v what_o their_o state_n and_o condition_n be_v 1._o the_o first_o argument_n or_o evidence_n of_o it_o be_v this_o because_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n come_v to_o the_o rise_n of_o the_o body_n with_o the_o notice_n and_o with_o the_o impression_n of_o what_o state_n it_o have_v be_v in_o from_o the_o time_n of_o death_n to_o the_o time_n of_o that_o resurrection_n the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n i_o say_v that_o have_v go_v out_o of_o the_o body_n it_o come_v full_a of_o the_o sense_n of_o that_o state_n and_o condition_n
