which_o work_n though_o but_o common_a and_o general_a yet_o be_v all_o their_o light_n discover_v they_o may_v by_o the_o performance_n of_o they_o get_v some_o present_a ease_n though_o not_o a_o sound_n and_o settle_a peace_n we_o read_v the_o heathen_n have_v sting_n of_o conscience_n when_o they_o sin_v notorious_o against_o the_o light_n and_o principle_n of_o nature_n and_o we_o read_v they_o have_v peace_n and_o quiet_a when_o they_o observe_v those_o thing_n which_o their_o light_n discover_v to_o they_o as_o their_o terror_n do_v arise_v from_o conviction_n of_o conscience_n to_o that_o common_a light_n and_o principles_n they_o have_v so_o it_o be_v here_o their_o conviction_n do_v arise_v from_o some_o common_a not_o save_v light_n 1._o because_o it_o discover_v gross_a sin_n not_o secret_a sin_n 2._o it_o discover_v open_a sin_n not_o spiritual_a sin_n 3._o it_o discover_v no_o sin_n as_o sin_n in_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o some_o sin_n it_o discover_v not_o at_o all_o and_o so_o their_o peace_n do_v arise_v from_o some_o common_a performance_n some_o general_a work_n not_o special_a and_o save_v and_o this_o be_v one_o end_n why_o some_o may_v abound_v in_o outward_a performance_n to_o make_v themselves_o a_o plaster_n of_o the_o ingredient_n of_o prayer_n and_o duty_n to_o heal_v their_o wounded_a conscience_n i_o have_v sometime_o think_v that_o conscience_n in_o this_o case_n be_v something_o like_a to_o the_o disease_n which_o they_o call_v the_o wolf_n in_o the_o body_n if_o you_o feed_v not_o it_o they_o be_v wont_v to_o say_v it_o will_v feed_v upon_o you_o and_o therefore_o in_o this_o case_n it_o be_v say_v they_o use_v to_o give_v it_o flesh_n that_o so_o by_o feed_v on_o that_o it_o may_v not_o gnaw_v upon_o they_o and_o by_o that_o mean_n have_v some_o present_a ease_n though_o the_o cure_n be_v not_o wrought_v so_o it_o be_v with_o conscience_n when_o once_o the_o mouth_n of_o conscience_n be_v open_v if_o a_o man_n do_v not_o feed_v it_o it_o will_v devour_v he_o and_o therefore_o man_n in_o this_o case_n do_v feed_v conscience_n with_o duty_n which_o for_o present_a procure_v they_o ease_v though_o the_o cure_n be_v not_o wrought_v and_o indeed_o to_o speak_v truth_n such_o man_n do_v not_o desire_v the_o cure_n they_o desire_v ease_n but_o not_o the_o cure_n peace_n not_o purge_v quiet_v not_o heal_v they_o will_v willing_o be_v rid_v of_o the_o pain_n but_o keep_v the_o tooth_n of_o trouble_n but_o keep_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o evil_n cause_v not_o of_o the_o evil_n cause_v the_o cure_n will_v be_v as_o look_v towards_o the_o world_n their_o own_o end_n in_o heart_n their_o eye_n be_v after_o their_o gain_n who_o will_v show_v they_o any_o good_a their_o foot_n be_v go_v towards_o zoar_n with_o lot_n wife_n but_o their_o heart_n towards_o sodom_n they_o serve_v god_n with_o their_o body_n but_o mammon_n with_o their_o spirit_n 4._o that_o by_o this_o mean_n they_o may_v procure_v god_n blessing_n on_o they_o in_o this_o life_n oh_o think_v they_o if_o i_o do_v not_o pray_v god_n will_v not_o bless_v i_o in_o my_o shop_n to_o day_n etc._n etc._n and_o therefore_o do_v it_o to_o procure_v look_v after_o the_o substance_n but_o neglect_v the_o circumstance_n he_o pray_v but_o never_o mind_n to_o pray_v in_o faith_n if_o a_o man_n pray_v and_o pray_v not_o fervent_o if_o he_o hear_v and_o hear_v not_o faithful_o if_o he_o obey_v and_o obey_v not_o willing_o if_o he_o show_v mercy_n and_o not_o cheerful_o if_o he_o keep_v the_o sabbath_n and_o not_o with_o delight_n all_o his_o service_n be_v nothing_o worth_a 3._o he_o be_v faulty_a in_o his_o aim_n and_o end_n his_o end_n be_v corrupt_a his_o aim_n be_v as_o his_o own_o end_n his_o own_o profit_n gain_n pride_n
