to_o grieve_v this_o holy_a spirit_n what_o use_n be_v there_o else_o of_o this_o caveat_n we_o carry_v too_o good_a a_o proof_n or_o this_o in_o our_o own_o heart_n we_o have_v that_o which_o be_v enmity_n to_o the_o spirit_n within_o we_o sin_n and_o a_o adversary_n to_o the_o spirit_n &_o we_o satan_n these_o join_v together_o and_o have_v intelligence_n and_o hold_v correspondence_n one_o with_o another_o stir_v we_o up_o to_o that_o which_o grieve_v this_o good_a spirit_n it_o 4_o we_o shall_v be_v careful_a of_o grieve_v it_o the_o four_o thing_n presuppose_v be_v that_o we_o may_v and_o aught_o by_o christian_a care_n and_o circumspection_n so_o to_o walk_v in_o a_o even_a and_o please_a course_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o grievous_o offend_v the_o spirit_n or_o grieve_v our_o own_o spirit_n we_o may_v avoid_v many_o lash_n and_o blow_n and_o many_o a_o heavy_a day_n which_o we_o may_v thank_v ourselves_o for_o and_o god_n delight_v in_o the_o prosperity_n of_o his_o spirit_n three_o how_o we_o may_v know_v when_o we_o have_v grieve_v the_o spirit_n four_o what_o course_n we_o shall_v take_v to_o prevent_v this_o grief_n spirit_n 1_o what_o it_o be_v to_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n for_o the_o first_o the_o holy_a ghost_n can_v proper_o be_v grieve_v in_o his_o own_o person_n because_o grief_n imply_v a_o defect_n of_o happiness_n in_o suffer_v that_o we_o wish_v remove_v it_o imply_v a_o defect_n in_o foresight_n to_o prevent_v that_o which_o may_v grieve_v it_o imply_v passion_n which_o be_v soon_o raise_v up_o and_o soon_o lay_v down_o god_n be_v not_o subject_a to_o change_v it_o imply_v some_o want_n of_o power_n to_o remove_v that_o which_o we_o feel_v to_o be_v a_o grievance_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o beseem_v the_o majesty_n of_o the_o spirit_n thus_o to_o be_v grieve_v we_o must_v therefore_o conceive_v of_o it_o as_o befit_v the_o majesty_n of_o god_n remove_v in_o our_o thought_n all_o imperfection_n first_o then_o we_o be_v say_v to_o grieve_v god_n how_o spirit_n grieve_v how_o when_o we_o do_v that_o which_o be_v apt_a of_o itself_o to_o grieve_v as_o we_o be_v say_v to_o destroy_v our_o weak_a brother_n when_o we_o do_v that_o which_o he_o take_v offence_n at_o be_v apt_a to_o mislead_v he_o and_o so_o to_o destroy_v he_o second_o we_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n when_o we_o do_v that_o whereupon_o the_o spirit_n do_v that_o which_o grieve_a person_n do_v that_o be_v retire_v and_o show_v dislike_v and_o return_v grief_n again_o three_o though_o the_o passion_n of_o grief_n be_v not_o in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n yet_o there_o be_v in_o his_o holy_a nature_n a_o pure_a displicence_n and_o hatred_n of_o sin_n with_o such_o a_o
leave_v study_v to_o maintain_v though_o corrupt_a nature_n have_v no_o good_a in_o it_o for_o we_o deserve_v to_o be_v like_o devil_n yet_o god_n intend_v to_o have_v civil_a society_n out_o of_o which_o he_o usual_o gather_v his_o church_n preserve_v in_o man_n nature_n a_o hatred_n of_o sin_n that_o overthrow_n society_n such_o sin_n therefore_o be_v commit_v against_o more_o light_n wound_v more_o as_o in_o case_n of_o murder_n notorious_a perjury_n theft_n etc._n etc._n sinner_n god_n method_n in_o deal_v with_o sinner_n therefore_o god_n oft_o give_v up_o man_n upon_o breach_n of_o the_o first_o table_n to_o breach_n of_o the_o second_o that_o so_o they_o may_v come_v to_o more_o grief_n and_o shame_n as_o be_v the_o breaker_n of_o both_o table_n man_n never_o fall_v into_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o second_o table_n but_o upon_o breach_n of_o the_o first_o no_o man_n despise_v man_n law_n but_o he_o despise_v god_n law_n first_o no_o man_n breakeâ—_n the_o law_n of_o nature_n but_o he_o despise_v the_o god_n of_o nature_n profane_a atheistical_a person_n that_o glory_n in_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o three_o commandment_n by_o swear_v god_n meet_v with_o they_o by_o give_v they_o over_o to_o gross_a abominable_a sin_n of_o the_o second_o table_n which_o vex_v they_o more_o though_o they_o shall_v noâ—_n than_o sin_n against_o the_o first_o table_n expose_v they_o beside_o inward_a grief_n to_o open_a shame_n then_o god_n open_v conscience_n to_o tell_v they_o not_o only_o that_o they_o be_v too_o blame_v for_o their_o gross_a sin_n but_o for_o the_o root_n of_o they_o atheism_n profaneness_n looseness_n which_o be_v sin_n against_o the_o first_o table_n this_o be_v a_o aggravation_n of_o sin_n against_o knowledge_n when_o our_o knowledge_n have_v
