this_o holy_a spirit_n what_o use_n be_v there_o else_o of_o this_o caveat_n we_o carry_v too_o good_a a_o proof_n of_o this_o in_o our_o own_o heart_n we_o have_v that_o which_o be_v enmity_n to_o the_o spirit_n within_o we_o sin_n and_o a_o adversary_n to_o the_o spirit_n &_o we_o satan_n these_o join_v together_o and_o have_v intelligence_n and_o hold_v correspondency_n one_o with_o another_o to_o walk_v in_o a_o even_a and_o please_a course_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o grievous_o offend_v the_o spirit_n or_o grieve_v our_o own_o spirit_n we_o may_v avoid_v many_o lash_n and_o blow_n and_o many_o a_o heavy_a day_n which_o we_o may_v thank_v ourselves_o for_o and_o god_n delight_v in_o the_o prosperity_n of_o his_o child_n and_o will_v have_v we_o walk_v in_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o be_v to_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n second_o be_v wherein_o we_o special_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n three_o how_o we_o may_v know_v when_o we_o have_v grieve_v the_o spirit_n four_o what_o course_n we_o shall_v take_v to_o prevent_v this_o grief_n for_o the_o first_o the_o holy_a ghost_n can_v proper_o be_v grieve_v in_o his_o own_o person_n spirit_n because_o grief_n imply_v a_o defect_n of_o happiness_n in_o suffer_v that_o we_o wish_v remove_v it_o imply_v a_o defect_n in_o foresight_n to_o prevent_v that_o which_o may_v grieve_v it_o imply_v passion_n which_o be_v soon_o raise_v up_o and_o soon_o lay_v down_o god_n be_v not_o subject_a to_o change_v it_o imply_v some_o want_n of_o power_n to_o remove_v that_o which_o we_o feel_v to_o be_v a_o grievance_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o beseem_v the_o majesty_n of_o the_o spirit_n thus_o to_o be_v grieve_v we_o must_v therefore_o conceive_v of_o it_o as_o befit_v the_o majesty_n of_o god_n remove_v in_o our_o thought_n â—ll_a imperfection_n how_o first_o then_o we_o be_v say_v to_o grieve_v god_n when_o we_o do_v that_o which_o be_v apt_a of_o itself_o to_o grieve_v as_o we_o be_v say_v to_o destroy_v our_o weak_a brother_n when_o we_o do_v that_o which_o he_o take_v offence_n at_o be_v apt_a to_o mislead_v he_o and_o so_o to_o destroy_v he_o second_o we_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n when_o we_o do_v that_o whereupon_o the_o spirit_n do_v that_o which_o grieve_a person_n do_v that_o be_v retire_v and_o show_v dislike_v and_o return_v grief_n again_o three_o though_o the_o passion_n of_o grief_n be_v not_o in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n yet_o there_o be_v in_o his_o holy_a nature_n a_o pure_a displicence_n and_o hatred_n of_o sin_n with_o such_o a_o degree_n of_o abomination_n as_o though_o it_o tend_v not_o to_o the_o destruction_n of_o the_o offender_n yet_o to_o sharp_a correction_n so_o that_o grief_n be_v eminent_o in_o the_o hatred_n of_o god_n in_o such_o a_o manner_n as_o become_v he_o four_o we_o we_o may_v conceive_v of_o the_o spirit_n as_o he_o be_v in_o himself_o in_o heaven_n and_o as_o he_o dwell_v and_o work_v in_o we_o as_o we_o may_v conceive_v of_o god_n the_o father_n as_o hide_a in_o himself_o and_o as_o reveal_v in_o his_o son_n and_o in_o his_o word_n and_o as_o we_o may_v conceive_v of_o christ_n as_o the_o second_o person_n &_o as_o incarnate_a so_o likewise_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o in_o himself_o and_o as_o in_o we_o god_n in_o the_o person_n of_o his_o son_n
affection_n we_o have_v taste_v of_o the_o good_a thing_n of_o god_n that_o the_o promise_n be_v sweet_a and_o the_o gospel_n be_v good_a when_o we_o have_v give_v such_o way_n to_o the_o spirit_n then_o to_o use_v he_o unkind_o this_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n where_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v not_o only_o set_v up_o a_o light_n but_o give_v a_o taste_n of_o heavenly_a thing_n and_o yet_o we_o upon_o false_a allurement_n will_v grow_v to_o a_o distaste_n it_o can_v but_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n and_o this_o make_v the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n so_o desperate_a because_o there_o have_v be_v a_o strong_a conviction_n and_o illumination_n professor_n therefore_o of_o all_o sin_n the_o sin_n of_o professor_n of_o religion_n grieve_v the_o spirit_n most_o and_o of_o all_o professor_n those_o that_o have_v most_o mean_n of_o knowledge_n because_o their_o obligation_n be_v dee-p_a and_o their_o engagement_n great_a the_o deep_a the_o affection_n have_v enter_v the_o great_a the_o grief_n must_v needs_o be_v in_o unloose_v the_o offence_n of_o friend_n grieve_v more_o than_o the_o injury_n of_o enemy_n and_o therefore_o the_o sin_n that_o offend_v god_n most_o be_v commit_v within_o the_o church_n where_o be_v the_o great_a sin_n of_o all_o the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n commit_v but_o within_o the_o church_n and_o where_o there_o be_v the_o great_a light_n and_o the_o great_a mean_n sin_n against_o knowledge_n grieve_v most_o especial_o if_o there_o be_v a_o malicious_a oppose_a for_o there_o can_v be_v nothing_o to_o excuse_v it_o the_o malice_n of_o the_o will_n make_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o deep_o die_v and_o it_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o spirit_n as_o it_o be_v a_o spirit_n of_o goodness_n &_o hence_o be_v it_o that_o
