and_o shame_n for_o the_o offence_n and_o fear_v of_o he_o who_o thou_o have_v offend_v and_o long_a desire_n to_o be_v reconcile_v and_o then_o ten_o he_o that_o have_v a_o true_o penitent_a heart_n and_o the_o sorrow_n of_o the_o right_a stamp_n will_v express_v it_o by_o all_o outward_a sign_n for_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n and_o the_o good_a of_o other_o he_o will_v accuse_v and_o speak_v evil_a of_o himself_o and_o humble_v himself_o by_o confession_n before_o god_n his_o shameful_a iniquity_n neither_o will_v he_o spare_v to_o lay_v open_a the_o shame_n of_o his_o particular_a sin_n other_o infectious_a course_n we_o be_v to_o beg_v pardon_n for_o of_o they_o who_o we_o have_v thus_o wrong_v by_o our_o miscarriage_n and_o to_o confess_v the_o sinfulness_n of_o such_o course_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o to_o the_o prevent_n of_o such_o evil_a for_o the_o future_a and_o as_o the_o penitent_a humble_a person_n will_v not_o stick_v at_o confession_n both_o to_o god_n and_o contract_a spirit_n the_o jew_n have_v a_o proverb_n among_o they_o that_o spiritus_fw-la sanctus_fw-la non_fw-la descendit_fw-la super_fw-la animum_fw-la maestum_fw-la which_o though_o take_v without_o limitation_n be_v not_o true_a because_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n work_v godly_a sorrow_n and_o dwell_v in_o the_o contrite_a heart_n that_o be_v break_v for_o sin_n to_o revive_v comfort_n get_v up_o to_o these_o high_a duty_n and_o though_o godly_a sorrow_n for_o sin_n be_v consistent_a enough_o with_o some_o spiritual_a joy_n and_o concomitant_a affection_n before_o mention_v whilst_o it_o keep_v its_o just_a degree_n and_o measure_n yet_o when_o it_o proceed_v to_o height_n and_o excess_n and_o go_v beyond_o its_o just_a bound_n it_o great_o indispose_v to_o work_n of_o that_o perform_v the_o high_a act_n of_o spiritual_a life_n that_o be_v not_o first_o dead_a to_o those_o thing_n that_o do_v stifle_v and_o utter_o quench_v the_o spiritual_a life_n or_o how_o can_v he_o thank_v god_n aright_o for_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o in_o a_o capacity_n to_o make_v a_o true_a judgement_n of_o what_o god_n do_v bestow_v which_o be_v the_o case_n of_o every_o one_o that_o have_v his_o affection_n inordinate_o wed_v to_o these_o earthly_a contentment_n such_o a_o one_o can_v take_v a_o worldly_a cross_n or_o reproach_n and_o shame_n and_o sickness_n and_o other_o affliction_n to_o be_v such_o mercy_n as_o they_o sometime_o be_v nor_o thank_v god_n sometime_o for_o they_o more_o hearty_o than_o for_o any_o outward_a prosperity_n 5._o he_o must_v have_v a_o deep_a sense_n and_o persuasion_n of_o the_o certainty_n and_o excellency_n of_o eternal_a thing_n the_o immortality_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o worth_n of_o god_n favour_n the_o unspeakable_a misery_n of_o the_o damn_a and_o the_o felicity_n of_o those_o that_o must_v live_v for_o ever_o with_o god_n otherwise_o the_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n be_v but_o a_o dream_n and_o the_o happiness_n for_o these_o high_a and_o heavenly_a act_n of_o gratitude_n and_o praise_n which_v be_v always_o accompany_v with_o some_o degree_n of_o joy_n and_o delight_n in_o god_n which_o formal_o and_o principal_o imply_v first_o a_o due_a observation_n and_o worthy_a estimation_n of_o the_o amiable_a perfection_n of_o god_n and_o of_o his_o grace_n and_o favour_n towards_o we_o if_o we_o overlook_v these_o and_o our_o eye_n be_v in_o the_o end_n of_o the_o earth_n when_o they_o shall_v be_v intent_n upon_o the_o infinite_a majesty_n and_o his_o mercy_n towards_o we_o every_o

proposition_n of_o part_n the_o well_o mix_v of_o the_o humour_n that_o give_v the_o colour_n and_o the_o pure_a lively_a spirit_n that_o give_v air_n and_o motion_n to_o the_o several_a part_n his_o erect_a stature_n and_o the_o symmetry_n of_o the_o whole_a to_o say_v nothing_o of_o speech_n that_o be_v peculiar_a to_o man_n alone_o all_o other_o creature_n must_v submit_v and_o bow_v before_o he_o but_o as_o to_o his_o moral_a capacity_n there_o be_v no_o other_o creature_n here_o below_o that_o have_v any_o lineament_n of_o his_o maker_n image_n but_o man_n only_o he_o alone_o be_v intend_v to_o represent_v his_o maker_n in_o righteousness_n and_o true_a holiness_n and_o have_v a_o capacity_n first_o to_o be_v honour_v in_o his_o service_n and_o to_o be_v make_v happy_a in_o his_o eternal_a enjoyment_n the_o rest_n of_o the_o creature_n as_o they_o have_v their_o face_n downward_o so_o they_o have_v no_o disposition_n to_o look_v so_o high_a as_o to_o their_o maker_n nor_o any_o tendency_n of_o love_n or_o desire_v towards_o he_o for_o god_n have_v make_v they_o uncapable_a of_o any_o such_o act_n or_o habit_n expect_v no_o such_o service_n at_o their_o hand_n
