lord's-supper_n be_v at_o the_o close_a of_o it_o and_o for_o his_o be_v present_a at_o that_o also_o many_o contend_v though_o it_o though_o see_v mr._n charnock_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n 2d_o vol._n p._n 7â—3_n compare_v with_o mr._n kettlewell_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n 12_o 1687._o p._n 387_o 388_o etc._n etc._n the_o one_o for_o his_o be_v present_a the_o other_o against_o it_o other_o think_v it_o probable_a that_o he_o go_v out_o before_o but_o the_o presence_n of_o some_o unworthy_a person_n be_v make_v a_o argument_n by_o many_o against_o their_o partake_v of_o the_o lord_n supper_n in_o such_o or_o such_o a_o particular_a church_n as_o if_o their_o presence_n will_v defile_v and_o infect_v they_o this_o therefore_o i_o shall_v consider_v as_o one_o objection_n which_o several_a be_v apt_a to_o make_v against_o the_o performance_n of_o this_o duty_n of_o frequent_a remember_v the_o death_n of_o christ_n at_o his_o table_n and_o then_o second_o consider_v the_o other_o objection_n from_o this_o text_n viz._n from_o the_o danger_n of_o receive_v unworthy_o lest_o they_o shall_v eat_v and_o drink_v damnation_n to_o themselves_o and_o three_o what_o many_o more_o be_v wont_a to_o plead_v that_o the_o danger_n be_v so_o great_a they_o dare_v not_o adventure_v till_o they_o know_v that_o they_o be_v believer_n or_o such_o as_o be_v invite_v for_o it_o be_v child_n bread_n and_o they_o dare_v not_o come_v till_o they_o be_v assure_v of_o their_o regeneration_n and_o adoption_n i_o shall_v therefore_o inquire_v whether_o any_o aught_o to_o come_v to_o the_o lord_n table_n till_o they_o have_v assurance_n or_o while_o they_o want_v it_o 1._o it_o be_v object_v by_o many_o that_o they_o do_v not_o communicate_v because_o there_o be_v such_o and_o such_o admit_v who_o ought_v not_o to_o come_v to_o the_o table_n of_o the_o lord_n such_o as_o walk_v disorderly_a who_o discredit_n their_o profession_n and_o be_v as_o bad_a as_o any_o of_o their_o neighbour_n and_o acquaintance_n and_o the_o apostle_n say_v 1_o cor._n 5.10_o that_o with_o such_o we_o shall_v not_o so_o much_o as_o eat_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v no_o fellowship_n with_o the_o unfruitful_a work_n of_o darkness_n ephes_n 5.11_o that_o we_o shall_v withdraw_v and_o separate_v and_o have_v no_o free_a familiarity_n with_o such_o 2_o thes_n 3.6_o 2_o tim._n 3.5_o 2_o cor._n 6.17_o i_o answer_v first_o that_o the_o separation_n from_o wicked_a man_n require_v in_o such_o passage_n of_o holy_a scripture_n refer_v to_o our_o intimate_a converse_n and_o familiarity_n with_o such_o who_o live_v in_o notorious_a and_o scandalous_a sin_n and_o do_v not_o testify_v their_o repentance_n we_o must_v avoid_v their_o company_n lest_o we_o be_v infect_v and_o there_o be_v much_o more_o danger_n of_o infection_n by_o familiarity_n with_o they_o in_o daily_a converse_n than_o by_o join_v with_o they_o in_o religious_a duty_n but_o we_o must_v be_v careful_a not_o to_o call_v those_o ungodly_a who_o we_o can_v prove_v to_o be_v so_o we_o shall_v rather_o hope_v they_o be_v not_o unless_o we_o can_v prove_v the_o contrary_n what_o sin_n be_v there_o that_o even_o a_o good_a man_n by_o the_o surprise_n of_o a_o temptation_n may_v not_o commit_v who_o yet_o mourn_v in_o secret_a and_o true_o repent_v it_o may_v be_v you_o may_v have_v hear_v of_o the_o sin_n of_o many_o of_o who_o repentance_n you_o have_v not_o hear_v and_o yet_o they_o may_v true_o repent_v and_o you_o may_v know_v it_o if_o you_o will_v inquire_v but_o where_o the_o mixture_n of_o the_o â—ares_n and_o the_o wheat_n be_v such_o that_o the_o one_o can_v be_v pull_v up_o without_o the_o other_o both_o must_v grow_v together_o till_o the_o harvest_n such_o a_o difference_n as_o god_n will_v make_v at_o the_o last_o day_n can_v now_o be_v make_v by_o we_o we_o may_v safe_o let_v the_o righteous_a and_o wicked_a go_v together_o as_o if_o all_o be_v righteous_a when_o we_o can_v prove_v the_o contrary_a and_o we_o do_v not_o therein_o make_v a_o false_a judgement_n we_o do_v not_o judge_v that_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o such_o and_o such_o be_v sincere_a and_o true_o godly_a but_o that_o it_o be_v probable_a they_o may_v be_v so_o and_o we_o may_v have_v a_o strong_a confidence_n concern_v the_o sincerity_n of_o some_o while_o we_o have_v only_o probable_a hope_n of_o other_o yea_o with_o such_o hope_n there_o may_v be_v some_o fear_n of_o their_o hypocrisy_n join_v when_o
