that_o our_o prayer_n and_o request_n shall_v be_v grant_v so_o far_o forth_o as_o shall_v be_v expedient_a for_o his_o glory_n and_o our_o comfort_n because_o we_o come_v to_o he_o that_o have_v the_o fullness_n of_o all_o will_n and_o power_n in_o himself_o to_o perform_v any_o thing_n that_o we_o shall_v demand_v according_a to_o the_o same_o upon_o beside_o we_o must_v know_v and_o believe_v that_o we_o must_v pray_v unto_o this_o alsufficient_a god_n only_o as_o well_o because_o he_o alone_o know_v the_o thing_n we_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o as_o also_o because_o he_o alone_o can_v help_v we_o and_o yield_v relief_n and_o supply_n when_o and_o as_o best_a please_v himself_o only_o and_o that_o our_o prayer_n must_v be_v make_v unto_o he_o in_o the_o name_n of_o his_o dear_o belove_a son_n jesus_n christ_n only_o because_o it_o please_v the_o father_n by_o he_o alone_o to_o reconcile_v all_o thing_n to_o himself_o both_o which_o be_v in_o heaven_n and_o in_o earthâ—_n and_o to_o appoint_v he_o to_o be_v the_o only_a mediator_n between_o god_n and_o us._n ask_v also_o that_o we_o must_v ask_v good_a thing_n only_o for_o it_o be_v unreasonable_a yea_o irreligious_a to_o make_v the_o most_o good_a and_o holy_a god_n a_o slave_n to_o satisfy_v our_o corrupt_a affection_n now_o we_o have_v say_v before_o that_o nothing_o be_v good_a but_o that_o he_o allow_v and_o like_v of_o by_o his_o will_n reveal_v in_o his_o word_n and_o we_o must_v ask_v these_o good_a thing_n to_o good_a and_o holy_a use_n only_o only_o as_o the_o advancement_n of_o his_o glory_n the_o help_n and_o comfort_n of_o our_o brethren_n and_o our_o own_o good_a and_o not_o to_o consume_v they_o on_o our_o lust_n as_o wantonness_n gluttony_n drunkenness_n envy_n abominable_a idolatry_n and_o such_o like_a and_o last_o together_o that_o we_o must_v not_o pray_v only_o with_o our_o mouth_n and_o lip_n after_o the_o manner_n of_o hypocrite_n but_o must_v yield_v consent_n to_o the_o same_o in_o our_o understand_n have_v indeed_o the_o sum_n of_o every_o petition_n in_o our_o heart_n as_o we_o ready_o have_v the_o word_n thereof_o in_o our_o mouth_n otherwise_o all_o that_o we_o do_v in_o this_o behalf_n will_v be_v but_o lip-labour_n yea_o lose_a labour_n for_o outward_a behaviour_n in_o our_o prayer_n majesty_n it_o be_v seemly_a and_o meet_a that_o we_o shall_v order_v ourselves_o reverent_o and_o religious_o in_o humble_a kneel_v upon_o our_o knee_n in_o steadfast_a hold_v up_o of_o our_o hand_n and_o earnest_n lift_v up_o of_o our_o eye_n to_o heaven_n ward_n and_o in_o dispose_v every_o part_n and_o member_n both_o of_o our_o body_n and_o of_o our_o mind_n in_o such_o sort_n that_o we_o ourselves_o may_v feel_v and_o other_o that_o be_v present_a with_o we_o may_v sensible_o perceive_v that_o we_o reverence_v his_o majesty_n before_o who_o we_o appear_v and_o right_o use_v that_o exercise_n that_o he_o have_v enjoin_v we_o as_o a_o special_a piece_n of_o his_o service_n even_o for_o our_o own_o health_n and_o welfare_n as_o well_o â—s_a for_o his_o glory_n therein_o understand_v i_o as_o i_o mean_v my_o purpose_n be_v not_o to_o tie_v man_n to_o that_o form_n of_o prayer_n alone_o or_o to_o teâ—â—â—â—hem_n to_o use_v only_o those_o gesture_n above_o prescribe_v for_o that_o be_v to_o limit_v the_o spirit_n and_o to_o repress_v occasion_n and_o provocation_n give_v we_o from_o god_n and_o feel_v in_o ourselves_o to_o holy_a prayer_n but_o that_o every_o one_o shall_v strive_v because_o of_o that_o rebellion_n that_o be_v in_o our_o heart_n as_o much_o and_o as_o effectual_o both_o in_o word_n and_o deed_n to_o humble_v ourselves_o before_o god_n as_o possible_o we_o can_v lest_o otherwise_o god_n resist_v we_o for_o he_o resist_v the_o proud_a and_o reject_v our_o prayer_n now_o let_v we_o come_v to_o a_o short_a open_n of_o that_o prayer_n which_o the_o lord_n himself_o have_v teach_v us._n the_o preface_n or_o beginning_n thereof_o be_v this_o expound_v o_o our_o father_n which_o be_v in_o heaven_n out_o of_o which_o word_n we_o may_v learn_v many_o thing_n prayer_n as_o first_o in_o this_o word_n o_o the_o earnest_a affection_n that_o ought_v to_o be_v in_o they_o that_o pray_v who_o must_v bring_v with_o they_o mind_n not_o only_o far_o remove_v from_o earthly_a and_o carnal_a thing_n but_o so_o steadfast_o set_v upon_o those_o heavenly_a and_o spiritual_a grace_n that_o at_o that_o present_a they_o demand_v that_o they_o mind_n nothing_o but_o those_o alone_a second_o in_o 〈◊〉_d word_n our_o the_o unfeigned_a love_n and_o feeling_n that_o aught_o to_o be_v among_o christian_a brethren_n love_n no_o man_n pray_v for_o himself_o only_o but_o pray_v as_o careful_o for_o other_o as_o for_o themselves_o three_o in_o this_o word_n father_n his_o fatherly_a providence_n and_o assure_a favour_n and_o good_a will_n obedience_n towards_o his_o child_n in_o christ_n on_o the_o one_o side_n and_o their_o sincere_a love_n and_o hearty_a obedience_n towards_o he_o on_o the_o other_o side_n according_a to_o that_o of_o the_o prophet_n if_o i_o be_v your_o lord_n where_o be_v my_o honour_n and_o if_o i_o be_v your_o father_n where_o be_v my_o love_n power_n four_o in_o these_o word_n which_o be_v in_o heaven_n the_o exceed_a majesty_n power_n and_o glory_n of_o god_n above_o all_o thing_n which_o if_o we_o respect_v not_o in_o prayer_n and_o feel_v in_o ourselves_o to_o appertain_v to_o we_o
