show_v he_o all_o his_o goodness_n he_o set_v himself_o out_o in_o the_o attribute_n of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n but_o yet_o a_o little_a more_o particular_o 1._o there_o be_v power_n in_o god_n by_o for_o there_o be_v no_o hollowness_n no_o concave_a no_o capaciousnesse_n to_o hold_v it_o and_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o familiar_a similitude_n of_o the_o mountain_n and_o the_o valley_n the_o rain_n fall_v on_o the_o mountain_n and_o make_v it_o nothing_o fruitful_a because_o all_o the_o rain_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o proclivity_n and_o the_o height_n of_o the_o mountain_n slip_n and_o slide_v down_o from_o the_o mountain_n and_o the_o mountain_n shelf_n it_o off_o as_o it_o be_v from_o its_o self_n and_o not_o only_o cast_v off_o the_o rain_n but_o itself_o also_o at_o least_o the_o best_a of_o itself_o with_o the_o rain_n and_o so_o much_o more_o fatten_v the_o low_a ground_n so_o that_o the_o valley_n have_v not_o only_o the_o fruitfulness_n that_o come_v by_o the_o rain_n but_o also_o that_o which_o come_v by_o the_o soil_n which_o fall_v on_o they_o from_o the_o hill_n by_o the_o rain_n and_o true_o it_o be_v the_o valley_n the_o lowly_a spirit_n that_o be_v make_v capable_a of_o any_o thing_n but_o the_o lofty_a spirit_n drive_v all_o from_o itself_o and_o so_o make_v itself_o uncapable_a to_o receive_v any_o thing_n and_o unfit_a to_o attain_v any_o may_v i_o comprehend_v in_o it_o these_o two_o thing_n 1_o a_o man_n must_v be_v free_a from_o partiality_n and_o prejudice_n 2_o and_o a_o man_n must_v be_v full_a of_o a_o estimacie_n and_o good_a opinion_n and_o good_a affection_n towards_o knowledge_n and_o such_o ingenuity_n of_o spirit_n prepare_v a_o man_n exceed_o for_o thrive_a by_o the_o mean_n of_o knowledge_n and_o so_o for_o attain_v the_o thing_n itself_o prejudice_n freedom_n from_o partiality_n and_o prejudice_n 1_o for_o the_o former_a freedom_n from_o prejudice_n and_o partiality_n that_o be_v necessary_a for_o if_o a_o man_n be_v partially-minded_n it_o will_v hinder_v he_o in_o profit_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o knowledge_n as_o for_o example_n such_o partiality_n whereby_o one_o esteem_v of_o man_n and_o so_o that_o he_o disesteem_v all_o other_o perhaps_o this_o man_n may_v get_v a_o little_a by_o that_o man_n who_o he_o do_v esteem_v but_o lose_v a_o great_a deal_n for_o it_o by_o reason_n of_o his_o partiality_n and_o why_o because_o he_o can_v always_o hear_v one_o he_o therefore_o never_o come_v to_o hear_v any_o other_o and_o if_o he_o do_v his_o partiality_n choke_v the_o benefit_n and_o so_o for_o prejudice_n to_o come_v with_o a_o prejudicate_a opinion_n to_o the_o hear_n of_o any_o man_n or_o the_o read_n of_o any_o thing_n to_o have_v the_o mind_n possess_v and_o anticipate_v with_o prejudice_n it_o will_v hinder_v a_o man_n from_o attain_v to_o that_o knowledge_n which_o otherwise_o he_o may_v gain_v by_o that_o man_n or_o that_o thing_n as_o if_o a_o man_n now_o have_v a_o the_o world_n from_o the_o pleasure_n from_o the_o honour_n from_o the_o riches_n of_o it_o for_o every_o one_o of_o these_o like_a unfruitful_a bough_n under_o bough_n flourish_v at_o the_o root_n of_o the_o tree_n and_o grow_v up_o to_o the_o prejudice_n of_o the_o main_a tree_n for_o as_o much_o as_o they_o draw_v the_o sap_n and_o nourishment_n away_o from_o that_o and_o starve_v the_o tree_n itself_o like_o ivy_n about_o the_o oak_n the_o ivy_n grow_v about_o it_o but_o the_o oak_n fare_v the_o worse_a as_o one_o say_v of_o the_o child_n at_o nurse_n the_o nurse_n fare_v the_o worse_a for_o the_o child_n sake_n the_o nurse_n pine_v and_o waste_v when_o she_o nourish_v and_o cherish_v her_o child_n the_o child_n draw_v she_o so_o much_o down_o that_o it_o leave_v she_o but_o lean_a and_o so_o in_o this_o case_n if_o we_o let_v our_o affection_n loose_v let_v they_o out_o upon_o any_o thing_n beside_o god_n in_o a_o inordinate_a way_n it_o do_v exceed_o abate_v and_o weaken_v our_o affection_n towards_o god_n they_o who_o will_v preserve_v the_o fire_n which_o be_v on_o the_o hearth_n can_v hardly_o do_v it_o if_o the_o sun_n beam_n do_v shine_v upon_o the_o hearth_n for_o they_o will_v extinguish_v and_o put_v it_o out_o so_o it_o be_v in_o this_o case_n our_o heart_n will_v grow_v exceed_o cold_a towards_o god_n and_o all_o the_o fire_n of_o holy_a affection_n will_v moulder_v away_o if_o these_o worldly_a thing_n seem_v glorious_a in_o our_o eye_n and_o seem_v beautiful_a they_o will_v steal_v away_o our_o love_n and_o steal_v away_o our_o affection_n and_o draw_v away_o our_o heart_n from_o god_n that_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o shall_v be_v take_v heed_n of_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n that_o christian_n shall_v always_o be_v careful_a of_o that_o the_o fear_n of_o other_o thing_n do_v not_o eat_v out_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n nor_o the_o love_n of_o other_o thing_n do_v not_o make_v a_o damp_n and_o quench_v the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o choke_v the_o growth_n of_o it_o we_o must_v take_v heed_n of_o that_o these_o care_v to_o chase_v in_o these_o 2_o but_o then_o as_o we_o shall_v take_v heed_n to_o chase_v away_o other_o love_n and_o heavenly_a fear_n in_o the_o full_a heat_n and_o full_a brightness_n you_o must_v be_v chary_a how_o you_o withdraw_v that_o fire_n and_o careful_a rather_o to_o feed_v that_o fire_n and_o so_o much_o the_o more_o tender_a care_n shall_v be_v have_v of_o this_o because_o you_o must_v know_v that_o it_o be_v with_o those_o holy_a affection_n as_o it_o be_v with_o noble_a and_o generous_a plant_n which_o be_v in_o our_o country_n but_o exotique_a and_o bring_v hither_o from_o another_o soil_n out_o of_o other_o country_n the_o country_n be_v not_o so_o kind_o for_o they_o
