say_v so_o do_v we_o think_v such_o be_v our_o opinion_n so_o it_o seem_v unto_o us._n and_o by_o this_o mean_n do_v the_o apostle_n here_o most_o proper_o signify_v faith_n meaning_n thus_o much_o in_o effect_n you_o have_v now_o attain_v to_o a_o true_a thought_n and_o be_v settle_v in_o a_o right_a persuasion_n that_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n only_o persist_v strong_o herein_o gird_n it_o fast_o unto_o you_o and_o valiant_o stick_v thereunto_o let_v no_o man_n pull_v these_o sound_n opinion_n out_o of_o your_o heart_n and_o then_o shall_v you_o prosperous_o persener_n and_o stand_v there_o will_v many_o false_a teacher_n arise_v who_o will_v forge_v doctrine_n of_o man_n thereby_o to_o corrupt_v your_o mind_n and_o looze_z this_o girdle_n of_o faith_n wherefore_o in_o here_o in_o saint_n peter_n he_o have_v scatter_v the_o proud_a in_o the_o imagination_n of_o their_o heart_n that_o be_v he_o have_v overthrow_v and_o bring_v they_o to_o confusion_n in_o the_o devise_n of_o their_o own_o mind_n and_o thought_n be_v sober_a this_o sobriety_n pertain_v outward_o to_o the_o body_n and_o be_v a_o especial_a work_n of_o faith_n for_o although_o man_n be_v justify_v yet_o be_v he_o not_o free_a from_o evil_a desire_n in_o deed_n faith_n have_v begin_v to_o restrain_v and_o bridle_v the_o flesh_n notwithstanding_o the_o same_o do_v continual_o strive_v to_o give_v a_o general_a precept_n hereof_o unto_o the_o whole_a people_n or_o to_o the_o church_n for_o asmuch_o as_o we_o be_v unlike_a among_o ourselves_o one_o have_v a_o strong_a body_n another_o a_o weak_a so_o that_o it_o be_v needful_a for_o one_o to_o abstain_v much_o for_o a_o other_o to_o abstain_v little_a that_o the_o body_n may_v nevertheless_o remain_v in_o health_n and_o be_v fit_a to_o do_v good_a work_n again_o there_o be_v some_o that_o deal_v clean_o contrary_o and_o think_v they_o do_v very_o well_o in_o fast_v nothing_o at_o all_o suppose_n that_o they_o may_v without_o respect_n of_o time_n eat_v what_o they_o will_n but_o herein_o they_o do_v not_o well_o for_o albeit_o they_o have_v somewhat_o taste_v of_o the_o gospel_n yet_o have_v they_o profit_v little_a or_o nothing_o like_v unto_o the_o former_a for_o they_o have_v profit_v no_o further_o but_o only_o to_o contemn_v the_o law_n of_o the_o pope_n they_o will_v not_o gird_v up_o their_o mind_n and_o sense_n as_o peter_n here_o bid_v neither_o do_v they_o bridle_v the_o desire_n of_o their_o body_n that_o the_o sluggishness_n and_o lasciviousness_n thereof_o may_v be_v repress_v it_o be_v good_a to_o fast_a howbeit_o the_o right_n fast_v in_o deed_n be_v to_o give_v the_o body_n no_o more_o nourishment_n then_o be_v needful_a to_o preserve_v it_o in_o health_n also_o to_o perfect_o on_o the_o grace_n that_o be_v bring_v unto_o you_o svche_o be_v christian_a faith_n that_o with_o all_o affiance_n it_o whole_o trust_v to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n quiet_o commit_v itself_o unto_o it_o and_o confident_o attempt_v whatsoever_o it_o teach_v whereupon_o s._n peter_n say_v then_o be_v the_o loin_n of_o the_o mind_n gird_v up_o then_o be_v your_o faith_n sincere_a and_o sound_o when_o you_o do_v quiet_o and_o confident_o commit_v yourselves_o to_o the_o worde_n of_o god_n and_o be_v bold_a upon_o trust_n therein_o have_v no_o regard_n whatsoever_o thing_n of_o you_o come_v into_o peril_n whether_o it_o be_v riches_n or_o good_a name_n body_n or_o even_o the_o life_n itself_o excellent_o therefore_o have_v he_o in_o these_o word_n describe_v a_o sincere_a and_o unfeigned_a faith_n for_o faith_n must_v not_o be_v sluggishe_a and_o sleepy_a which_o be_v rather_o a_o dream_n then_o a_o faith_n but_o it_o must_v be_v lively_a and_o effectual_a so_o that_o one_o will_v with_o all_o confidence_n offer_v himself_o to_o all_o affliction_n and_o trouble_n whatsoever_o and_o depend_v whole_o on_o the_o word_n esteem_v indifferent_o whatsoever_o state_n god_n we_o accord_v to_o our_o work_v yet_o nevertheless_o this_o remain_v also_o alike_o true_a that_o good_a work_n be_v only_o the_o fruit_n of_o faith_n whereby_o it_o be_v easy_a to_o find_v and_o try_v where_o faith_n be_v and_o where_o be_v infidelity_n and_o therefore_o will_v god_n judge_v thou_o accord_v to_o thy_o work_n and_o will_v thereby_o lay_v it_o face_n to_o face_n to_o thy_o charge_n whether_o thou_o have_v faith_n or_o no._n as_o no_o man_n can_v better_o confute_v a_o liar_n then_o by_o his_o own_o word_n and_o yet_o nevertheless_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o by_o those_o thou_o be_v call_v a_o christian_a or_o no_o or_o whether_o thou_o be_v baptize_v or_o not_o but_o he_o will_v thus_o question_v with_o thou_o sirrah_n if_o thou_o be_v a_o christian_n where_o be_v christian_a doctrine_n and_o wherein_o also_o thou_o may_v see_v faith_n love_n and_o the_o cross_n right_a apt_o and_o copiouslie_o describe_v and_o may_v also_o read_v many_o godly_a instruction_n and_o necessary_a premonition_n how_o to_o wage_v battle_n and_o continue_v fight_v with_o that_o great_a dragon_n the_o devil_n which_o epistle_n who_o so_o ever_o have_v right_o and_o through_o learn_v have_v no_o doubt_n a_o scotfree_a storehouse_n of_o all_o such_o thing_n as_o any_o way_n concern_v sincere_a and_o true_a christianity_n in_o somuche_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o need_v any_o other_o doctrine_n or_o help_n beside_o this_o as_o in_o deed_n there_o be_v none_o other_o save_v that_o god_n of_o the_o abundant_a store_n of_o his_o mercy_n and_o bounty_n teach_v the_o same_o doctrine_n in_o sundry_a and_o many_o other_o place_n of_o the_o scripture_n for_o other_o than_o this_o that_o be_v here_o set_v down_o by_o saint_n peter_n there_o be_v nothing_o that_o can_v be_v teach_v or_o that_o need_v to_o be_v display_v since_o he_o herein_o have_v omit_v nothing_o of_o all_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v expediente_a and_o behooveful_a for_o a_o christian_n to_o know_v final_o he_o here_o deliver_v the_o part_n of_o a_o faithful_a preacher_n and_o good_a pastor_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o shall_v account_n it_o his_o bind_a duty_n not_o only_o to_o feed_v the_o sheep_n but_o also_o to_o be_v careful_a for_o they_o and_o to_o pray_v for_o they_o that_o god_n may_v graciouslie_o increase_v they_o in_o goodness_n and_o strengthen_v they_o in_o faith_n whereby_o they_o may_v both_o receive_v and_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o also_o digest_v understande_v and_o bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o and_o thus_o with_o a_o prayer_n in_o the_o end_n he_o conclude_v sai_v and_o the_o god_n of_o all_o grace_n which_o have_v call_v we_o unto_o his_o eternal_a glory_n by_o christ_n jesus_n after_o that_o you_o have_v suffer_v a_o little_a make_v you_o perfect_a confirm_v strengthen_v and_o establish_v you_o in_o this_o prayer_n he_o commend_v they_o to_o god_n the_o god_n say_v he_o who_o aâ—â—de_n be_v the_o giver_n of_o all_o grace_n and_o that_o not_o pinchyng_o or_o in_o part_n but_o who_o most_o liberal_o and_o abundant_o as_o it_o be_v by_o full_a heap_n pour_v all_o his_o grace_n upon_o you_o who_o have_v call_v you_o through_o christ_n that_o you_o shall_v enjoy_v and_o be_v partaker_n of_o eternal_a glory_n &_o that_o not_o for_o any_o merit_n of_o your_o own_o but_o by_o &_o through_o christ_n who_o if_o you_o have_v you_o also_o have_v through_o faith_n in_o he_o not_o for_o any_o merit_n of_o your_o own_o eternal_a life_n and_o felicity_n he_o it_o be_v that_o shall_v make_v you_o perfect_v that_o you_o be_v by_o he_o strengthen_v may_v grow_v and_o stand_v fast_a ready_a to_o work_v all_o good_a work_v he_o also_o shall_v confirm_v and_o establish_v you_o that_o you_o be_v able_a to_o suffer_v and_o abide_v all_o thing_n to_o he_o be_v glory_n and_o dominion_n for_o ever_o and_o ever_o amen_n this_o praise_n be_v that_o sacrifice_n which_o the_o duty_n of_o all_o we_o which_o be_v christian_n be_v to_o offer_v he_o add_v yet_o a_o few_o word_n more_o by_o syluanus_n a_o faithful_a brother_n unto_o you_o as_o i_o suppose_v have_v i_o write_v brief_o exhort_v and_o testifi_v how_o that_o this_o be_v the_o true_a grace_n die_v or_o exchange_v this_o life_n for_o any_o other_o wherefore_o i_o will_v not_o be_v negligent_a to_o put_v you_o always_o in_o remembrance_n of_o these_o thing_n though_o that_o you_o have_v knowledge_n and_o be_v establish_v in_o the_o present_a truth_n of_o this_o we_o have_v oftentimes_o speak_v afore_o albeit_o god_n have_v cause_v a_o great_a light_n to_o shine_v unto_o we_o in_o this_o so_o merciful_a a_o manifestation_n of_o the_o gospel_n so_o that_o we_o both_o now_o know_v what_o a_o christian_a life_n be_v and_o also_o what_o christian_n doctrine_n mean_v and_o do_v also_o see_v the_o scope_n of_o the_o whole_a scripture_n to_o tend_v to_o none_o other_o end_n but_o this_o yet_o nevertheless_o it_o be_v expedient_a and_o necessary_a still_o to_o persevere_v and_o go_v forward_o in_o preach_v and_o teach_v without_o cease_a and_o to_o iterate_v &_o inâ—â—lke_v the_o self_n same_o doctrine_n from_o day_n to_o day_n if_o not_o to_o learn_v yet_o to_o be_v admonish_v and_o put_v in_o remembrance_n of_o doctrine_n before_o learned_a and_o receive_v for_o there_o be_v two_o office_n in_o the_o church_n as_o s._n paul_n teach_v rom._n xij_o the_o one_o consist_v in_o teach_v the_o other_o in_o exhort_v he_o that_o teach_v let_v he_o take_v heed_n to_o his_o teach_n and_o doctrine_n and_o he_o that_o exhort_v to_o his_o exhortation_n rom._n xij_o teach_v be_v where_o we_o lie_v the_o foundation_n of_o faith_n and_o preach_v the_o gospel_n to_o they_o that_o have_v not_o yet_o hear_v any_o thing_n thereof_o exhort_v or_o admonish_v be_v as_o here_o saint_n peter_n say_v to_o preach_v to_o they_o that_o have_v both_o hear_v and_o learn_v the_o same_o afore_o to_o encourage_v they_o manful_o to_o proceed_v and_o continue_v in_o their_o well_o begin_v enterprise_n and_o to_o awake_v and_o stir_v up_o their_o dull_a and_o drowsy_a nature_n to_o go_v on_o forward_o from_o step_n to_o step_n and_o from_o degree_n to_o degree_n every_o idleness_n now_o if_o the_o dulness_n of_o our_o nature_n be_v such_o that_o it_o must_v be_v call_v upon_o and_o put_v in_o mind_n to_o do_v thing_n expedient_a and_o behooveful_a for_o external_a be_v comfort_v and_o be_v bold_a in_o this_o that_o we_o know_v that_o while_o we_o be_v in_o the_o body_n we_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n but_o we_o have_v leifer_n to_o remove_v out_o of_o the_o body_n and_o to_o dwell_v with_o the_o lord_n here_o we_o see_v s._n paul_n call_v this_o body_n of_o we_o a_o house_n make_v two_o manner_n of_o dwellynge_v and_o two_o manner_n of_o peregâ—inations_n or_o absence_n from_o home_n by_o which_o phrase_n of_o speech_n saint_n peter_n also_o here_o in_o this_o place_n call_v this_o body_n a_o tabernacle_n for_o the_o soul_n to_o sojourn_v in_o by_o which_o name_n he_o do_v much_o extenuate_v the_o reputation_n that_o be_v common_o make_v of_o it_o and_o also_o faith_fw-mi it_o lower_v then_o most_o part_n of_o man_n account_n of_o it_o for_o he_o do_v not_o call_v it_o a_o house_n but_o a_o tabernacle_n 〈◊〉_d poor_a cottage_n such_o as_o silly_a shepherd_n use_v to_o dwell_v in_o the_o house_n be_v slender_a and_o of_o these_o thing_n after_o my_o depart_n saint_n peter_n here_o testify_v of_o himself_o that_o he_o be_v assure_v of_o eternal_a life_n and_o that_o by_o special_a revelation_n from_o the_o lord_n he_o know_v when_o he_o shall_v die_v all_o which_o be_v do_z for_o our_o sake_n and_o to_o confirm_v and_o strengthen_v our_o faith_n for_o it_o be_v very_o expedient_a and_o necessary_a that_o there_o shall_v be_v some_o such_o man_n that_o have_v in_o themselves_o a_o certain_a persuasion_n and_o sure_a knowledge_n of_o their_o election_n who_o may_v establish_v &_o lay_v the_o foundation_n of_o faith_n in_o other_o whereby_o it_o may_v be_v out_o of_o all_o doubt_n know_v that_o they_o preach_v not_o the_o dream_n and_o fantasy_n of_o man_n but_o the_o true_a and_o sincere_a worde_n of_o god_n which_o man_n before_o they_o come_v to_o that_o assurance_n and_o certainty_n god_n thorough_o try_v and_o prove_v therefore_o say_v saint_n peter_n i_o will_v not_o only_o with_o my_o lively_a voice_n admonish_v and_o put_v you_o in_o remembrance_n but_o i_o will_v also_o commit_v these_o my_o admonition_n to_o writing_n and_o leave_v my_o exhortation_n write_v
