shine_v in_o nature_n come_v to_o be_v spoil_v and_o so_o the_o light_n of_o god_n depart_v from_o he_o 9_o yet_o then_o the_o outward_a light_n of_o the_o outward_a nature_n remain_v shi_v in_o the_o creature_n for_o its_o own_o self_n throw_v itself_o thereinto_o and_o then_o suppose_v that_o it_o be_v still_o the_o first_o light_n of_o god_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o and_o into_o this_o selfe-conceitednesse_a in_o the_o light_n of_o its_o outward_a reason_n the_o devil_n throw_v himself_o again_o though_o in_o the_o first_o light_n which_o be_v divine_a he_o be_v force_v to_o depart_v return_v with_o a_o sevenfold_a desire_n of_o which_o christ_n speak_v say_v when_o the_o unclean_a spirit_n depart_v out_o of_o a_o man_n he_o wander_v through_o dry_a place_n seek_v rest_n the_o centre_n but_o it_o be_v become_v a_o dry_a *_o feeble_a place_n the_o anger_n of_o god_n viz._n the_o centre_n of_o nature_n be_v in_o its_o own_o property_n altogether_o barren_a feeble_a lean_a and_o dry_a and_o can_v get_v the_o dominion_n in_o the_o wrathful_a property_n satan_n search_v through_o these_o place_n to_o find_v a_o open_a gate_n to_o enter_v with_o the_o desire_n &_o and_o evil_a imagination_n wherein_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o will_n behold_v itself_o in_o the_o form_n of_o the_o property_n of_o life_n in_o the_o outward_a light_n and_o there_o that_o man_n sink_v into_o himself_o as_o if_o he_o be_v drink_v and_o then_o the_o star_n lay_v hold_v on_o he_o &_o bring_v their_o strong_a constellation_n into_o he_o reason_n that_o he_o may_v seek_v the_o wonder_n of_o god_n there_o that_o so_o they_o may_v manifest_v themselves_o therein_o for_o all_o creature_n groan_n and_o long_o after_o god_n and_o though_o the_o star_n can_v apprehend_v the_o worthy_a of_o this_o so_o high_a a_o grace_n nor_o shall_v it_o arrogate_v any_o knowledge_n or_o understanding_n to_o itself_o or_o desire_n and_o beg_v of_o god_n to_o have_v any_o understanding_n triumph_v in_o the_o light_n say_v i_o have_v the_o true_a child_n but_o then_o the_o will_n of_o the_o desire_n must_v bow_v itself_o down_o to_o the_o earth_n and_o bring_v itself_o into_o the_o deep_a humility_n and_o simple_a ignorance_n and_o say_v thou_o be_v foolish_a and_o have_v nothing_o but_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n thou_o must_v wrap_v thyself_o up_o into_o that_o with_o great_a humility_n and_o become_v nothing_o at_o all_o in_o thyself_o and_o neither_o know_v nor_o love_v thyself_o all_o that_o thou_o have_v or_o be_v in_o thou_o must_v esteem_v itself_o as_o nothing_o but_o a_o mere_a instrument_n of_o god_n and_o then_o must_v bring_v the_o desire_n only_o into_o god_n mercy_n and_o go_v forth_o from_o all_o thy_o own_o know_v and_o will_v and_o esteem_v it_o as_o nothing_o at_o all_o nor_o must_v thou_o ever_o entertain_v any_o will_n to_o enter_v into_o it_o again_o 22_o as_o soon_o as_o this_o be_v do_v the_o natural_a with_o enter_v into_o weakness_n and_o then_o the_o devil_n be_v not_o able_a to_o five_o it_o thus_o any_o more_o with_o his_o false_a evil_a desire_n for_o the_o place_n of_o his_o rest_n become_v very_o barren_a weak_a and_o dry_a and_o then_o the_o holy_a spirit_n proceed_v from_o god_n take_v possession_n of_o the_o form_n of_o life_n and_o make_v his_o dominion_n prevail_v viz._n he_o kindle_v the_o form_n of_o life_n with_o his_o flame_n of_o love_n and_o then_o the_o high_a skill_n and_o knowledge_n of_o the_o centre_n of_o all_o substance_n thing_n arise_v according_a to_o the_o inward_a and_o outward_a constellation_n of_o the_o creature_n in_o a_o very_a subtle_a dry_a fire_n with_o great_a delight_n and_o desire_v to_o sink_v down_o into_o that_o light_n and_o esteem_v itself_o nothing_o and_o think_v itself_o to_o be_v unworthy_a of_o it_o 23._o and_o thus_o it_o be_v own_o desire_n pierce_v into_o that_o nothing_o viz._n into_o that_o wherein_o god_n creat_v and_o do_v what_o he_o will_v therein_o and_o the_o they_o have_v depart_v from_o resignation_n into_o self_n viz._n into_o their_o own_o reason_n and_o lust_n 29._o therefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a for_o the_o child_n of_o god_n to_o know_v how_o to_o behave_v themselves_o when_o they_o will_v learn_v the_o way_n of_o god_n they_o must_v beat_v down_o &_o cast_v away_o their_o very_a thought_n and_o desire_v nothing_o nor_o have_v the_o least_o will_n to_o learn_v any_o thing_n unless_o they_o find_v themselves_o to_o be_v in_o true_a resignation_n so_o that_o god_n spirit_n lead_v teach_v and_o guide_v man_n spirit_n and_o that_o the_o humane_a will_n which_o be_v addict_v to_o itself_o be_v whole_o break_v off_o from_o its_o own_o lust_n and_o resign_v in_o god_n 30._o all_o speculation_n in_o the_o wonder_n of_o god_n be_v very_o dangerous_a for_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o will_n may_v soon_o be_v captivate_v therewith_o unless_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o will_n go_v or_o walk_v after_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o then_o it_o have_v power_n in_o the_o resign_v humility_n to_o behold_v the_o wonder_n of_o god_n 31_o i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o a_o man_n shall_v search_v and_o learn_v nothing_o in_o natural_a of_o god_n first_o in_o all_o his_o search_n so_o that_o the_o light_n of_o reason_n may_v see_v through_o the_o light_n of_o god_n and_o though_o reason_n do_v know_v much_o it_o must_v not_o arrogate_v to_o itself_o as_o if_o it_o be_v in_o its_o own_o possession_n but_o give_v glory_n to_o god_n to_o who_o alone_a wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n do_v belong_v 32._o for_o the_o more_o reason_n sink_v itself_o down_o into_o simple_a humility_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n and_o the_o more_o unworthy_a it_o account_v itself_o in_o its_o sight_n the_o more_o it_o die_v from_o self-desire_n spirit_n of_o god_n work_v only_o in_o resign_v humility_n in_o that_o which_o neither_o seek_v nor_o desire_v itself_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n take_v hold_v of_o whatsoever_o desire_v to_o be_v simple_a and_o lowly_a before_o he_o and_o bring_v it_o forth_o in_o his_o wonder_n he_o have_v pleasure_n only_o in_o those_o that_o fear_n and_o bow_v themselves_o before_o he_o 33._o for_o god_n
