midnight_n with_o he_o within_o twenty_o four_o hour_n and_o he_o be_v as_o much_o in_o the_o dark_a as_o before_o now_o the_o be_v of_o this_o peace_n be_v there_o but_o he_o have_v no_o need_n of_o the_o feel_n of_o it_o at_o all_o time_n the_o lord_n he_o will_v reserve_v that_o till_o some_o time_n of_o tentation_n that_o he_o shall_v meet_v withal_o as_o paul_n he_o have_v marvellous_a revelation_n but_o paul_n have_v more_o need_n of_o humiliation_n than_o exaltation_n and_o there_o be_v not_o that_o use_n of_o paul_n have_v those_o glorious_a manifestation_n to_o he_o i_o will_v glory_v in_o my_o infirmity_n there_o be_v need_n for_o paul_n to_o know_v the_o evil_n of_o his_o heart_n that_o he_o may_v walk_v humble_o and_o it_o do_v not_o make_v so_o much_o for_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o lord_n as_o this_o that_o paul_n shall_v say_v i_o have_v this_o misery_n and_o darkness_n and_o sin_n and_o yet_o jesus_n christ_n he_o will_v take_v away_o all_o there_o be_v not_o need_v for_o paul_n to_o have_v those_o joy_n at_o all_o time_n that_o he_o have_v at_o one_o time_n so_o the_o lord_n he_o give_v a_o christian_a joy_n and_o peace_n now_o there_o be_v no_o need_n for_o a_o christian_n to_o have_v it_o always_o i_o will_v pour_v flood_n of_o water_n on_o dry_a ground_n beloved_n if_o there_o shall_v be_v nothing_o but_o rain_n rain_v every_o day_n and_o night_n the_o ground_n will_v be_v glut_v with_o rain_n and_o so_o turn_v into_o a_o puddle_n but_o when_o the_o land_n be_v dry_a and_o thirsty_a now_o the_o ground_n have_v need_n of_o rain_n let_v the_o earth_n make_v use_v of_o that_o rain_n it_o have_v and_o when_o it_o be_v dry_a and_o thirsty_a i_o will_v give_v more_o say_v the_o lord_n so_o the_o lord_n he_o give_v the_o soul_n joy_n taste_v how_o good_a the_o lord_n be_v and_o he_o may_v lose_v it_o again_o but_o this_o may_v be_v preserve_v in_o a_o spirit_n of_o longing_n after_o this_o god_n and_o presence_n again_o and_o i_o will_v say_v this_o brethren_n a_o christian_a may_v find_v no_o good_a by_o the_o word_n to_o his_o apprehension_n he_o see_v the_o admirable_a bless_a estate_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o exceed_a riches_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n see_v the_o sweetness_n of_o the_o way_n of_o god_n go_v home_n and_o think_v within_o himself_o happy_a they_o that_o be_v in_o this_o condition_n bless_a be_v they_o that_o can_v walk_v thus_o with_o god_n but_o i_o can_v say_v the_o soul_n i_o say_v it_o may_v find_v it_o thus_o when_o he_o can_v find_v the_o real_a efficacy_n of_o the_o word_n as_o he_o will_v do_v he_o may_v receive_v the_o benefit_n of_o that_o word_n if_o the_o lord_n do_v but_o only_o give_v he_o a_o heart_n to_o desire_v it_o oh_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v but_o thus_o manifest_v himself_o to_o i_o the_o soul_n may_v go_v away_o poor_a and_o hungry_a from_o the_o word_n and_o the_o lord_n may_v yet_o reserve_v a_o spirit_n of_o thirst_v after_o that_o good_a which_o a_o man_n desire_v to_o find_v and_o there_o be_v the_o efficacy_n of_o the_o word_n there_o as_o now_o there_o be_v two_o golden_a vessel_n one_o a_o man_n fill_v and_o it_o be_v everyday_n drop_v and_o he_o preserve_v it_o another_o vessel_n he_o do_v not_o fill_v but_o with_o something_o that_o he_o have_v he_o be_v every_o day_n widen_v of_o it_o so_o some_o christian_n the_o lord_n he_o be_v a_o fill_n of_o they_o other_o the_o lord_n he_o do_v not_o fill_v they_o with_o such_o peace_n and_o joy_n ay_o but_o though_o the_o lord_n be_v not_o fill_v of_o they_o he_o be_v a_o widen_v he_o set_v the_o soul_n at_o a_o everlasting_a distance_n with_o his_o sin_n never_o to_o be_v reconcile_v and_o look_n to_o the_o lord_n that_o by_o his_o word_n and_o spirit_n he_o will_v subdue_v they_o that_o so_o he_o may_v see_v the_o death_n of_o they_o and_o he_o side_n with_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o use_n of_o all_o mean_n come_v to_o the_o word_n and_o come_v to_o prayer_n and_o say_v of_o it_o and_o that_o be_v all_o and_o the_o lord_n he_o harden_v and_o blind_v and_o prepare_v for_o eternal_a ruin_n all_o the_o man_n in_o the_o world_n by_o this_o mean_n that_o live_v under_o the_o mean_n when_o the_o lord_n speak_v to_o samuel_n samuel_n hear_v a_o voice_n but_o he_o hear_v it_o not_o as_o speak_v by_o god_n but_o when_o he_o take_v elies_n counsel_n and_o see_v it_o be_v the_o lord_n that_o speak_v now_o he_o listen_v to_o the_o voice_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o now_o the_o lord_n open_v all_o his_o mind_n to_o he_o 3._o do_v not_o trust_v to_o the_o external_a word_n it_o be_v a_o heaven_n on_o earth_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n exalt_v a_o glorious_a thing_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o god_n word_n but_o trust_v to_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n the_o power_n of_o it_o speak_v the_o word_n lord_n and_o thy_o servant_n shall_v be_v whole_a so_o bring_v your_o blind_a lame_a and_o halt_v soul_n to_o christ_n and_o trust_v to_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n it_o shall_v prosper_v in_o his_o hand_n so_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n it_o shall_v prosper_v in_o his_o hand_n also_o not_o your_o blessedness_n to_o close_v with_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o word_n i_o have_v know_v some_o man_n that_o have_v have_v a_o distaste_n against_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o i_o etc._n etc._n he_o affect_v plainness_n together_o with_o power_n in_o preach_v not_o seek_v abstrusity_n nor_o like_v to_o hover_v and_o soar_v aloft_o in_o dark_a expression_n and_o so_o to_o shoot_v his_o arrow_n as_o many_o preacher_n do_v over_o the_o head_n of_o his_o hearer_n it_o be_v a_o wretched_a stumble_a block_n to_o some_o that_o his_o sermon_n be_v somewhat_o strict_a and_o as_o they_o term_v it_o legal_a some_o soul_n can_v relish_v none_o but_o meal-mouthed_a preacher_n who_o come_v with_o soft_a and_o smooth_a and_o toothless_a word_n byssina_fw-la verba_fw-la byssinis_fw-la viris_fw-la but_o these_o time_n need_v humble_v ministery_n and_o bless_v be_v god_n that_o there_o be_v any_o for_o where_o there_o be_v no_o law-sermon_n there_o will_v be_v few_o gospel-live_n and_o be_v there_o more_o law-peaching_a in_o england_n by_o the_o man_n of_o gift_n there_o will_v be_v more_o gospel-walking_a both_o by_o themselves_o and_o the_o people_n to_o preach_v the_o law_n not_o in_o a_o force_a affect_a manner_n but_o wise_o and_o powerful_o together_o with_o the_o gospel_n as_o christ_n himself_o be_v wont_a to_o do_v mat._n 5._o and_o elsewhere_o be_v the_o way_n to_o carry_v on_o all_o three_o together_o sense_n of_o misery_n the_o application_n of_o the_o remedy_n and_o the_o return_n of_o thankfulness_n and_o duty_n nor_o be_v any_o doctrine_n more_o comfort_v then_o this_o humble_v way_n of_o god_n if_o right_o manage_v it_o be_v certain_a the_o foundation_n of_o after-sorrowe_n and_o ruin_n to_o the_o church_n have_v ever_o be_v lay_v in_o the_o day_n of_o her_o prosperity_n and_o peace_n and_o rest_n when_o she_o enjoy_v all_o her_o pleasant_a thing_n this_o the_o watchman_n of_o israel_n shall_v foresee_v and_o therefore_o what_o shall_v they_o do_v but_o seek_v to_o humble_a and_o awaken_v and_o search_v and_o melt_v man_n heart_n and_o warn_v every_o one_o night_n and_o day_n with_o tear_n that_o in_o shall_v be_v a_o day_n of_o liberty_n to_o the_o saint_n to_o serve_v god_n may_v become_v a_o day_n of_o great_a seduction_n and_o of_o liberty_n to_o seduce_a spirit_n to_o deceive_v and_o damn_v and_o mislead_v they_o from_o the_o truth_n and_o way_n of_o god_n but_o the_o machination_n of_o man_n though_o in_o conjunction_n with_o the_o power_n and_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v certain_o fall_v at_o last_o before_o truth_n and_o prayer_n and_o of_o this_o be_v the_o first_o treatise_n which_o be_v seasonable_o publish_v to_o be_v fast_o bind_v to_o the_o rule_n with_o all_o the_o bond_n and_o cord_n of_o god_n and_o man_n be_v the_o perfection_n of_o liberty_n hence_o there_o be_v not_o a_o sure_a cornerstone_n of_o ruin_n to_o a_o christian_a commonwealth_n that_o god_n there_o be_v much_o hear_n but_o little_a effectual_a hear_n man_n stand_v like_o the_o oak_n of_o bashan_n before_o the_o word_n of_o the_o god_n of_o israel_n no_o terror_n of_o the_o lord_n no_o news_n of_o everlasting_a destruction_n no_o evidence_n of_o the_o fierce_a anger_n of_o god_n upon_o they_o which_o burn_v down_o to_o the_o bottom_n of_o hell_n can_v take_v hold_n upon_o their_o spirit_n or_o awaken_v their_o conscience_n to_o make_v inquiry_n after_o god_n in_o this_o their_o day_n yea_o if_o the_o bar_n of_o the_o pit_n of_o hell_n be_v break_v and_o if_o the_o devil_n of_o hell_n shall_v come_v fly_v up_o among_o we_o in_o our_o solemn_a assembly_n from_o the_o fiery_a corner_n of_o the_o pit_n below_o with_o everlasting_a burn_n about_o their_o ear_n and_o with_o chain_n of_o darkness_n rattle_v at_o their_o heel_n they_o may_v fright_v man_n out_o of_o their_o wit_n perhaps_o or_o from_o the_o act_n of_o sin_n it_o may_v be_v for_o a_o time_n but_o it_o will_v not_o work_v upon_o their_o heart_n their_o desperate_a dead_a besotted_a heart_n the_o fool_n in_o israel_n will_v have_v their_o swinge_n in_o their_o lust_n and_o go_v to_o hell_n in_o a_o full_a career_n let_v god_n do_v his_o best_a oh_o the_o hardness_n of_o man_n heart_n and_o the_o main_a reason_n of_o it_o be_v because_o they_o hear_v but_o a_o sound_n of_o word_n but_o they_o do_v not_o hear_v the_o lord_n in_o that_o wrrd_v they_o hear_v word_n that_o be_v speak_v by_o god_n but_o they_o hear_v not_o they_o see_v not_o god_n himself_o therein_o if_o ever_o thou_o will_v profit_v by_o read_v or_o hear_v take_v every_o word_n as_o a_o special_a message_n to_o thou_o from_o god_n and_o of_o this_o fruitless_a hear_n and_o the_o rule_n of_o hear_v aright_o be_v the_o other_o treatise_n 3._o conscience_n of_o his_o sabbath_n of_o which_o there_o be_v a_o elaborate_a discourse_n of_o this_o author_n former_o publish_v by_o himself_o therefore_o we_o shall_v add_v no_o more_o the_o blessing_n oâ—_n heaven_n go_v with_o these_o to_o make_v we_o a_o willing_a people_n in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o power_n to_o submit_v to_o his_o word_n and_o to_o come_v under_o people_n his_o people_n do_v or_o shall_v subject_v cheerful_o to_o this_o government_n by_o my_o service_n be_v therefore_o mean_v my_o government_n and_o your_o subjection_n wrought_v by_o i_o to_o
