christ_n get_v victory_n over_o satan_n in_o the_o victory_n we_o be_v to_o observe_v two_o thing_n first_o that_o the_o devil_n depart_v from_o he_o second_o the_o angel_n minister_v unto_o he_o 1._o in_o this_o depart_n of_o the_o devil_n from_o christ_n we_o may_v behold_v the_o unspeakable_a goodness_n of_o god_n to_o his_o church_n for_o that_o which_o befall_v christ_n befall_v the_o church_n of_o god_n now_o the_o devil_n have_v tempt_v christ_n in_o three_o several_a and_o sore_a temptation_n he_o encounter_v he_o in_o all_o three_o and_o resist_v the_o devil_n in_o all_o his_o temptation_n and_o then_o the_o devil_n leave_v he_o and_o go_v his_o way_n wherein_o we_o see_v the_o endless_a love_n of_o god_n in_o that_o he_o put_v a_o end_n to_o the_o affliction_n of_o his_o church_n though_o they_o be_v many_o and_o sore_a yet_o they_o shall_v last_v but_o a_o time_n and_o have_v a_o end_n so_o the_o lord_n speak_v of_o solomon_n 14_o if_o he_o sin_v i_o will_v chastise_v he_o with_o the_o rod_n of_o man_n and_o with_o the_o plague_n of_o the_o child_n of_o man_n such_o as_o shall_v not_o be_v too_o extreme_a but_o that_o he_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o bear_v and_o fearful_a temptation_n some_o half_n a_o year_n some_o a_o whole_a year_n some_o two_o three_o four_o ten_o year_n yet_o at_o length_n the_o lord_n give_v they_o a_o good_a issue_n and_o put_v a_o end_n to_o their_o misery_n and_o in_o stead_n of_o horror_n of_o conscience_n send_v they_o comfort_n &_o in_o stead_n of_o grief_n joy_v unspeakable_a and_o though_o the_o lord_n shall_v suffer_v they_o to_o be_v tempt_v all_o their_o life_n long_o till_o their_o die_a day_n yet_o then_o the_o lord_n will_v give_v they_o a_o bless_a issue_n of_o all_o their_o misery_n and_o fill_v their_o soul_n with_o exceed_a comfort_n here_o we_o see_v a_o notable_a difference_n between_o the_o first_o adam_n and_o the_o second_o adam_n 2._o the_o first_o adam_n be_v tempt_v and_o yield_v to_o satan_n temptation_n and_o suffer_v the_o devil_n to_o enter_v into_o his_o hart_n the_o second_o adam_n jesus_n christ_n he_o be_v likewise_o tempt_v yet_o he_o yield_v not_o to_o the_o least_o assault_n of_o the_o devil_n neither_o can_v he_o ever_o enter_v into_o his_o holy_a heart_n but_o depart_v from_o he_o and_o be_v fain_o to_o leave_v he_o in_o this_o departure_n of_o the_o devil_n therefore_o we_o must_v learn_v that_o as_o the_o devil_n be_v very_o instant_a to_o enforce_v and_o urge_v his_o temptation_n so_o we_o must_v be_v as_o instant_a to_o resist_v they_o and_o yield_v high_a degree_n that_o can_v be_v for_o the_o devil_n make_v a_o end_n of_o his_o temptation_n before_o he_o leave_v he_o and_o have_v his_o will_n in_o tempt_v of_o he_o and_o therefore_o no_o time_n to_o think_v themselves_o reprobate_n and_o castaway_n yet_o it_o have_v please_v the_o lord_n in_o time_n to_o restore_v they_o to_o the_o feel_n of_o his_o love_n and_o they_o have_v continue_v the_o faithful_a servant_n of_o god_n till_o their_o die_a day_n and_o as_o it_o be_v say_v the_o devil_n depart_v as_o soon_o as_o he_o have_v end_v all_o his_o temptation_n we_o may_v gather_v that_o these_o three_o wherewith_o he_o assault_v our_o saviour_n christ_n they_o be_v the_o most_o principal_a temptation_n of_o the_o devil_n &_o the_o very_a ground_n of_o all_o other_o continual_a intercourse_n of_o affliction_n we_o must_v then_o learn_v what_o be_v our_o own_o particular_a estate_n while_o we_o live_v in_o the_o church_n namely_o a_o state_n that_o be_v in_o a_o continual_a intercourse_n of_o trouble_n and_o affliction_n if_o we_o now_o enjoy_v peace_n and_o rest_n we_o must_v make_v account_v it_o can_v always_o endure_v but_o there_o must_v come_v a_o change_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v beware_v in_o time_n of_o peace_n to_o prepare_v ourselves_o against_o the_o time_n of_o affliction_n and_o of_o trial_n and_o persuade_v ourselves_o the_o sun_n
