the_o scripture_n be_v profitable_a and_o there_o stay_v himself_o and_o go_v no_o further_o but_o he_o do_v point_n out_o unto_o we_o to_o what_o use_v it_o serve_v it_o be_v profitable_a and_o it_o be_v profitable_a to_o to_o teach_v to_o instruct_v and_o to_o improve_v and_o to_o make_v a_o man_n absolute_a and_o entire_a in_o every_o good_a work_n be_v it_o not_o then_o sufficient_a a_o foolish_a cavil_n so_o in_o the_o 15_o verse_n of_o the_o same_o chapter_n say_v the_o apostle_n the_o scripture_n be_v able_a to_o make_v a_o man_n wise_a unto_o salvation_n be_v not_o the_o papist_n in_o this_o in_o that_o they_o join_v to_o the_o write_v applicat_fw-la 1_o word_n of_o god_n their_o own_o unwritten_a tradition_n their_o unwritten_a verity_n to_o make_v up_o and_o supply_v as_o they_o imagine_v the_o imperfection_n in_o the_o holy_a word_n of_o god_n the_o word_n be_v not_o a_o sufficient_a rule_n unless_o the_o unwritten_a verity_n of_o the_o church_n be_v can_v confess_v but_o they_o say_v as_o it_o be_v their_o common_a proverb_n vana_fw-la sine_fw-la viribus_fw-la ira_fw-la anger_n without_o power_n be_v in_o vain_a for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v angry_a be_v provoke_v unto_o anger_n by_o thy_o wilful_a obstinate_a and_o rebellious_a sin_n he_o will_v punish_v thou_o consider_v then_o who_o have_v thou_o provoke_v a_o god_n of_o infinite_a power_n and_o he_o will_v make_v it_o appear_v in_o thy_o just_a destruction_n and_o in_o thy_o just_a punishment_n the_o heart_n of_o man_n be_v not_o able_a to_o conceive_v or_o imagine_v the_o fearful_a of_o this_o observation_n which_o lie_v plain_a before_o we_o viz._n doctrine_n that_o the_o high_a and_o utmost_a end_n of_o the_o everlasting_a destruction_n of_o the_o reprobate_n be_v the_o manifestation_n of_o god_n justice_n and_o of_o god_n power_n which_o here_o be_v couple_v and_o put_v together_o in_o their_o destruction_n the_o destruction_n of_o the_o reprobate_n be_v indeed_o the_o near_a end_n in_o respect_n of_o reprobate_n themselves_o but_o god_n respect_v it_o no_o further_o then_o as_o it_o make_v and_o tend_v to_o the_o manifestation_n and_o declaration_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o justice_n and_o power_n the_o high_a end_n which_o the_o lord_n aim_v at_o in_o the_o punishment_n and_o destruction_n of_o the_o wicked_a what_o be_v it_o it_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o he_o may_v have_v his_o justice_n and_o power_n glorify_v the_o lord_n aim_v not_o at_o their_o destruction_n though_o it_o be_v the_o near_a end_n to_o they_o yet_o far_a off_o in_o god_n intention_n for_o he_o aim_v at_o his_o own_o justice_n and_o power_n glorification_n and_o to_o this_o purpose_n speak_v solomon_n express_o prov._n 16.4_o the_o lord_n have_v make_v all_o thing_n for_o his_o own_o sake_n yea_o the_o very_a wicked_a for_o the_o day_n of_o evil_n he_o have_v make_v they_o for_o the_o day_n of_o destruction_n aim_v therein_o at_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o justice_n and_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o power_n this_o be_v the_o main_a end_n the_o lord_n aim_v at_o in_o rom._n 11._o the_o apostle_n have_v large_o discuss_v and_o stand_v upon_o the_o rejection_n of_o the_o gentile_n in_o the_o 36._o verse_n he_o conclude_v
the_o mean_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n so_o then_o thus_o conceive_v we_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o apostle_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v and_o in_o like_a sort_n that_o god_n may_v make_v it_o know_v to_o all_o the_o world_n both_o to_o man_n and_o angel_n his_o exceed_a great_a and_o abundant_a grace_n and_o mercy_n towards_o and_o upon_o his_o elect_n who_o be_v vessel_n as_o the_o ignorance_n and_o obdurancy_n of_o other_o and_o it_o will_v make_v thou_o to_o praise_v and_o set_v forth_o the_o greatness_n of_o god_n mercy_n so_o again_o in_o outward_a mercy_n the_o lord_n have_v give_v thou_o abundance_n thou_o have_v strength_n and_o ability_n of_o body_n thou_o have_v liberty_n and_o freedom_n from_o imprisonment_n and_o thou_o see_v other_o that_o be_v blind_a sick_a lame_a and_o under_o the_o heavy_a hand_n of_o god_n in_o some_o affliction_n they_o be_v weak_a and_o poor_a and_o in_o this_o hard_a time_n that_o now_o be_v upon_o we_o thou_o see_v other_o want_v fire_v want_v lodging_n want_v mean_n to_o defend_v they_o from_o the_o injury_n of_o the_o weather_n sure_o the_o lord_n set_v these_o before_o thou_o not_o only_o that_o thou_o shall_v be_v pitiful_a unto_o they_o and_o help_v and_o relieve_v they_o but_o herein_o also_o to_o see_v the_o greatness_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n mercy_n towards_o thou_o lay_v not_o out_o so_o much_o upon_o thy_o pride_n in_o excess_n of_o apparel_n but_o extend_v some_o to_o the_o poor_a and_o praise_v the_o lord_n for_o his_o greatness_n and_o goodness_n that_o have_v make_v thou_o rich_a and_o healthful_a and_o other_o lie_v up_o and_o down_o ready_a to_o be_v famish_v oh_o consider_v this_o what_o the_o lord_n have_v do_v for_o thy_o body_n and_o soul_n he_o have_v enlarge_v his_o hand_n to_o thou_o enlarge_v thou_o thy_o hand_n in_o give_v to_o other_o and_o enlarge_v thy_o heart_n in_o praise_v of_o god_n and_o let_v it_o stir_v thou_o up_o to_o great_a thankfulness_n unto_o god_n for_o this_o his_o mercy_n to_o thou_o and_o that_o he_o may_v make_v know_v the_o riches_n of_o his_o glory_n on_o the_o vessel_n of_o mercy_n which_o he_o have_v before_o prepare_v unto_o glory_n and_o in_o the_o next_o place_n observe_v that_o the_o apostle_n here_o say_v not_o bare_o god_n will_v extend_v and_o reach_v out_o his_o abundant_a mercy_n towards_o his_o child_n or_o that_o he_o may_v show_v his_o mercy_n upon_o they_o abundant_o but_o mark_v the_o manner_n of_o his_o speech_n he_o put_v down_o his_o mind_n and_o meaning_n in_o these_o term_n that_o god_n may_v declare_v the_o riches_n of_o his_o glory_n upon_o his_o i_o will_v dren_n every_o word_n be_v very_o emphatical_a and_o full_a of_o weight_n and_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o god_n may_v make_v know_v to_o all_o the_o world_n to_o man_n and_o angel_n his_o exceed_a great_a and_o abundant_a grace_n and_o mercy_n upon_o his_o elect_n and_o towards_o his_o child_n hence_o than_o we_o may_v easy_o gather_v this_o conclusion_n doctrine_n that_o god_n will_v one_o day_n manifest_v his_o exceed_a great_a and_o abundant_a mercy_n towards_o his_o choose_a and_o he_o will_v one_o day_n make_v it_o appear_v to_o all_o the_o world_n to_o man_n and_o angel_n that_o he_o be_v a_o most_o wonderful_a and_o gracious_a god_n unto_o his_o choose_a indeed_o god_n be_v exceed_o gracious_a and_o abundant_o merciful_a unto_o his_o choose_a at_o all_o time_n especial_o after_o their_o effectual_a call_v and_o conversion_n and_o turn_v from_o sin_n unto_o he_o from_o the_o estate_n of_o nature_n unto_o the_o estate_n of_o grace_n then_o give_v unto_o they_o the_o pardon_n of_o all_o their_o sin_n seal_v his_o love_n unto_o they_o in_o christ_n as_o it_o be_v in_o roman_n 10.5_o then_o give_v unto_o his_o child_n liberty_n to_o approach_v and_o come_v near_o unto_o his_o holy_a presence_n with_o comfort_n and_o thanksgiving_n then_o beautify_v their_o soul_n with_o many_o excellent_a gift_n of_o his_o spirit_n with_o faith_n with_o zeal_n and_o with_o humility_n so_o that_o god_n be_v exceed_o great_a and_o abundant_o merciful_a unto_o his_o choose_a yet_o let_v i_o tell_v you_o that_o his_o abundant_a grace_n and_o mercy_n to_o his_o elect_n be_v not_o so_o apparent_a to_o the_o eye_n of_o man_n it_o lie_v hide_v and_o obscure_v either_o under_o that_o excellent_a grace_n of_o humility_n or_o under_o their_o affliction_n so_o as_o that_o the_o world_n see_v it_o not_o yet_o the_o time_n shall_v come_v that_o howsoever_o it_o be_v now_o darken_v it_o shall_v appear_v to_o man_n and_o angel_n yea_o man_n and_o angel_n shall_v admire_v at_o the_o wonderful_a mercy_n of_o god_n to_o his_o choose_a and_o to_o this_o purpose_n be_v that_o of_o the_o apostle_n in_o the_o 2_o thessalonian_o 1.10_o where_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o christ_n jesus_n at_o the_o day_n of_o
