profane_a and_o ungodly_a cogitation_n prayer_n make_v with_o such_o a_o extravagant_a heart_n be_v they_o in_o word_n never_o so_o holy_a they_o be_v impute_v unto_o we_o as_o sin_v for_o shall_v we_o think_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v our_o prayer_n to_o our_o profit_n or_o comfort_n when_o the_o thought_n of_o our_o heart_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n dishonour_v he_o many_o pray_v in_o their_o own_o familiar_a language_n and_o yet_o consider_v no_o more_o what_o they_o speak_v for_o want_n of_o attention_n then_o if_o they_o speak_v in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n &_o yet_o such_o man_n will_v hold_v themselves_o very_o devout_a &_o to_o have_v power_n in_o themselves_o to_o pray_v when_o they_o list_v as_o if_o true_a prayer_n be_v of_o that_o facility_n and_o ease_n to_o utter_v as_o in_o a_o idle_a tale_n and_o as_o it_o seem_v by_o beggar_n that_o tumble_v out_o the_o lord_n prayer_n with_o one_o breath_n at_o a_o door_n &_o yet_o mind_n nothing_o but_o their_o alm_n such_o man_n he_o never_o so_o eloquent_a neither_o can_v any_o conceive_v or_o apprehend_v the_o sweetness_n of_o it_o that_o be_v not_o exercise_v and_o experience_v in_o the_o same_o for_o nature_n apprehend_v it_o not_o no_o man_n can_v say_v that_o jesus_n be_v christ_n but_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o none_o can_v desire_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n but_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n flesh_n &_o blood_n can_v as_o much_o as_o desire_v spiritual_a thing_n spiritual_o for_o spiritual_a thing_n be_v to_o be_v compare_v with_o spiritual_a thing_n and_o spiritual_a gift_n be_v obtain_v by_o spiritual_a mean_n and_o therefore_o be_v word_n without_o the_o spirit_n as_o naked_a and_o bare_a incense_n without_o fire_n but_o be_v enkindle_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o sanctify_v by_o the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o god_n who_o be_v promise_v to_o assist_v our_o spirit_n they_o be_v as_o a_o lively_a and_o acceptable_a sacrifice_n to_o god_n work_v so_o powerful_o with_o he_o through_o christ_n mediation_n as_o they_o never_o return_v empty_a of_o whatsoever_o blessing_n we_o desire_v prayer_n can_v never_o be_v effectual_a unless_o there_o be_v some_o certain_a spiritual_a object_n of_o the_o mind_n to_o move_v the_o attention_n of_o the_o heart_n which_o object_n be_v god_n and_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o when_o we_o pray_v unto_o he_o or_o yield_v he_o any_o other_o worship_n that_o we_o be_v not_o to_o conceive_v he_o in_o the_o form_n of_o any_o earthly_a or_o heavenly_a bodily_a or_o spiritual_a creature_n whatsoever_o for_o in_o that_o manner_n not_o to_o conceive_v he_o be_v a_o degree_n of_o conceive_v he_o aright_o according_a to_o master_n perkins_n god_n must_v be_v conceive_v of_o we_o in_o our_o prayer_n as_o subsist_v in_o the_o whole_a three_o person_n the_o father_n the_o son_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o unity_n in_o trinity_n &_o trinity_n in_o unity_n be_v to_o be_v worship_v retain_v in_o mind_n the_o distinction_n and_o order_n by_o his_o spirit_n he_o also_o that_o pray_v for_o the_o same_o to_o god_n the_o holy_a ghost_n must_v pray_v that_o he_o will_v assure_v unto_o he_o the_o remission_n of_o his_o sin_n from_o the_o father_n for_o and_o by_o the_o merit_n of_o his_o son_n thus_o must_v we_o apprehend_v the_o trinity_n in_o our_o prayer_n so_o shall_v we_o avoid_v that_o idolatrous_a conceive_v of_o he_o embrace_v their_o prayer_n tâ—â—d_v to_o the_o set_v forth_o of_o god_n gloly_a to_o the_o good_a of_o the_o church_n to_o the_o remission_n of_o their_o own_o sin_n and_o other_o man_n to_o the_o obtain_n of_o god_n grace_n to_o the_o increase_n of_o the_o understanding_n of_o heavenly_a thing_n that_o they_o may_v walk_v before_o god_n and_o be_v upright_o that_o they_o may_v do_v the_o work_n &_o bring_v
