of_o sovereign_a use_n and_o necessity_n for_o the_o measure_n of_o opinion_n and_o doctrine_n and_o for_o the_o discovery_n of_o what_o be_v straight_o and_o what_o crooked_a in_o they_o yet_o he_o that_o desire_v to_o reap_v the_o spiritual_a benefit_n and_o advantage_n of_o the_o usefulness_n of_o it_o in_o this_o kind_n must_v first_o understand_v the_o mind_n and_o sense_n of_o god_n in_o it_o aright_o and_o second_o be_v dextrous_a and_o expert_a in_o make_v a_o due_a application_n of_o it_o be_v right_o understand_v to_o the_o doctrine_n or_o opinion_n the_o soundness_n or_o debate_v '_o whither_o in_o a_o right_a angle_a triangle_n the_o square_a of_o the_o hypolemise_v be_v equal_a to_o the_o square_n of_o the_o side_n i_o think_v you_o will_v grant_v that_o we_o must_v fetch_v the_o demonstration_n from_o geometry_n itself_o and_o the_o demonstration_n must_v conclude_v we_o we_o must_v not_o say_v though_o this_o proposition_n be_v demonstrative_o conclude_v in_o geometry_n yet_o we_o will_v question_v it_o only_o indeed_o here_o be_v the_o difference_n a_o geometrical_a demonstration_n render_v the_o conclusion_n not_o only_o agreeable_a to_o principle_n and_o former_a proposition_n in_o geometry_n by_o which_o it_o be_v demonstrate_v but_o withal_o clear_a to_o reason_n but_o the_o conclusion_n of_o a_o divine_a truth_n by_o scripture_n be_v many_o time_n obscure_a to_o reason_n though_o clear_o agreeable_a to_o principle_n and_o other_o doctrine_n in_o scripture_n because_o even_o those_o principle_n and_o doctrine_n prove_v it_o be_v to_o man_n reason_n not_o for_o want_v of_o light_n in_o they_o but_o through_o the_o blindness_n of_o it_o obscure_a yet_o shall_v reason_n see_v the_o legitimacy_n of_o the_o proof_n from_o principle_n and_o doctrine_n in_o scripture_n lay_v down_o when_o it_o have_v very_o obscure_a apprehension_n both_o of_o the_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o conclusion_n and_o the_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o principle_n and_o doctrine_n prove_v it_o these_o thing_n faith_n believe_v upon_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o word_n affirm_v 2._o you_o deal_v with_o the_o scripture_n as_o he_o that_o because_o the_o rule_n and_o plummet_n do_v not_o verify_v the_o judgement_n which_o he_o make_v by_o his_o eye_n at_o a_o guess_n he_o will_v therefore_o by_o his_o eye_n question_v the_o rule_n and_o plummet_n themselves_o whilst_o you_o take_v liberty_n to_o question_v the_o authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o whether_o they_o be_v from_o god_n or_o not_o upon_o supposal_n of_o something_o or_o consider_v apart_o from_o the_o spirit_n notion_n or_o sense_n of_o they_o that_o be_v the_o touchstone_n or_o rule_v of_o trial_n for_o doctrine_n yea_o the_o letter_n and_o word_n be_v only_a servant_n to_o the_o sense_n and_o notion_n which_o they_o contain_v and_o exhibit_v and_o be_v principal_o if_o not_o only_o deliver_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n unto_o man_n for_o this_o end_n that_o by_o they_o the_o sense_n mind_n and_o counsel_n of_o god_n in_o all_o the_o particularity_n of_o they_o which_o be_v hold_v forth_o in_o the_o scripture_n may_v be_v communicate_v and_o convey_v to_o the_o reason_n and_o understanding_n of_o man_n so_o that_o in_o case_n a_o man_n have_v the_o sense_n and_o mind_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o same_o term_n of_o certainty_n &_o of_o knowledge_n without_o the_o letter_n on_o which_o he_o have_v it_o or_o may_v have_v it_o by_o mean_n of_o the_o letter_n he_o shall_v be_v as_o rich_o as_o complete_o qualify_v hereby_o to_o discern_v between_o doctrine_n as_o he_o now_o can_v be_v by_o the_o opportunity_n and_o advantage_n of_o the_o letter_n resbury_n word_n to_o no_o purpose_n still_o 1._o if_o the_o letter_n and_o word_n of_o the_o
