promoter_n of_o all_o their_o persecution_n as_o to_o keep_v the_o law_n of_o moses_n in_o the_o sense_n wherein_o it_o be_v now_o cease_v and_o they_o be_v not_o to_o keep_v it_o therefore_o he_o take_v no_o notice_n of_o the_o law_n in_o the_o conscience-sence_n wherein_o it_o be_v agree_v by_o both_o or_o however_o know_v to_o be_v hold_v by_o he_o to_o be_v incumbent_a on_o christian_n for_o the_o substance_n of_o it_o but_o he_o in_o speak_v against_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n mean_n the_o law_n of_o moses_n in_o that_o sense_n wherein_o it_o be_v cease_v be_v but_o a_o shadow_n and_o show_v that_o in_o this_o sense_n it_o have_v only_o temporal_a promise_n and_o advantage_v only_o to_o the_o purification_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o escape_v temporal_a calamity_n now_o to_o reply_v it_o have_v also_o another_o sense_n will_v be_v true_a but_o nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n since_o it_o have_v not_o in_o this_o sense_n wherein_o he_o oppose_v it_o i_o suppose_v you_o now_o see_v that_o it_o be_v far_o from_o truth_n which_o this_o author_n affirm_v viz._n that_o the_o apostle_n paul_n charge_v the_o whole_a mosaic-dispensation_n with_o the_o defect_n of_o have_v no_o promise_n of_o a_o future-life_n i_o have_v take_v liberty_n to_o speak_v large_o of_o these_o thing_n because_o i_o know_v of_o none_o that_o in_o my_o weak_a opinion_n do_v speak_v satisfactory_o or_o true_o of_o they_o and_o i_o have_v much_o confidence_n that_o none_o can_v give_v any_o true_a tolerable_a interpretation_n of_o such_o passage_n of_o the_o apostle_n use_v in_o derogation_n to_o the_o law_n without_o such_o notion_n and_o distinction_n of_o the_o law_n as_o i_o have_v here_o describe_v and_o explain_v and_o also_o i_o hope_v that_o any_o one_o of_o ordinary_a ability_n for_o such_o thing_n may_v hold_v to_o these_o notion_n of_o the_o law_n give_v a_o rational_a and_o satisfactory_a account_n of_o the_o most_o scripture_n of_o such_o derogatory_n import_n and_o now_o to_o go_v on_o with_o the_o word_n of_o the_o author_n who_o have_v before_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o apostle_n argument_n against_o justification_n by_o the_o suppose_v ability_n i_o mean_v the_o natural_a ability_n to_o obey_v it_o or_o it_o can_v not_o oblige_v to_o obedience_n and_o so_o can_v be_v no_o law_n to_o such_o four_o this_o be_v to_o say_v that_o man_n can_v not_o sin_n without_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n to_o enable_v they_o for_o this_o author_n grant_v as_o well_o he_o may_v that_o none_o be_v bind_v by_o any_o law_n to_o do_v what_o they_o have_v no_o power_n to_o do_v but_o i_o have_v at_o large_a show_v in_o another_o discourse_n the_o absurdity_n of_o this_o opinion_n and_o that_o the_o gracious_a operation_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o effect_n of_o it_o be_v something_o that_o man_n can_v sin_v without_o and_o therefore_o that_o man_n have_v the_o natural_a power_n to_o obey_v some_o other_o way_n and_o not_o from_o this_o though_o not_o the_o moral_a but_o have_v this_o moral_a power_n from_o this_o grace_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n it_o can_v be_v pretend_v here_o that_o this_o author_n mean_v the_o mosaic-law_n afford_v not_o the_o spirit_n to_o free_a man_n from_o the_o moral_a impotency_n of_o do_v what_o they_o have_v the_o natural_a power_n to_o do_v for_o this_o will_v be_v to_o overthrow_v the_o thing_n he_o be_v plead_v for_o viz._n the_o impotency_n and_o and_o insufficiency_n of_o the_o law_n and_o dispensation_n since_o moral-impotency_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o or_o nature_n which_o work_v real_o have_v no_o promise_n of_o a_o future-life_n reward_n and_o they_o have_v real_o no_o ability_n to_o perform_v these_o work_n but_o their_o pharisaical_a teacher_n teach_v they_o that_o such_o work_n of_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n have_v a_o promise_n of_o future-life_n reward_n and_o that_o they_o have_v ability_n to_o do_v such_o work_n i_o shall_v let_v many_o thing_n pass_v that_o i_o may_v here_o rejoin_v to_o show_v the_o inconsistency_n of_o this_o reply_n with_o the_o whole_a discourse_n of_o the_o apostle_n yea_o and_o with_o the_o argument_n he_o strive_v to_o fasten_v on_o the_o apostle_n and_o also_o to_o show_v how_o improbable_a it_o be_v that_o man_n shall_v fancy_v themselves_o to_o have_v or_o believe_v other_o tell_v they_o they_o have_v power_n to_o do_v thing_n they_o have_v a_o impotency_n to_o do_v take_v impotency_n as_o this_o author_n apparent_o do_v for_o the_o proper_a natural_a impotency_n distinct_a from_o
