it_o hold_v rather_o of_o humane_a wisdom_n than_o that_o divine_a simplicity_n which_o become_v so_o holy_a and_o heavenly_a a_o subject_n lest_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n etc._n etc._n that_o be_v lest_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n crucify_a shall_v be_v render_v vain_a and_o useless_a as_o need_v the_o power_n of_o humane_a wisdom_n to_o uphold_v it_o verse_n 18._o for_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o cross_n be_v to_o they_o that_o perish_v foolishness_n this_o preach_v of_o christ_n crucify_v or_o a_o crucify_a saviour_n seem_v to_o proud_a and_o seem_v wise_a man_n the_o foolish_a thing_n conversion_n in_o life_n which_o all_o the_o learned_a discourse_n of_o philosopher_n
which_o be_v administer_v to_o we_o by_o the_o mediation_n of_o ordinance_n which_o be_v outward_a and_o subject_v to_o our_o sense_n answ_n 3_o but_o than_o three_o i_o will_v have_v these_o man_n consider_v the_o true_a nature_n and_o reason_n of_o this_o word_n spiritual_a as_o it_o stand_v in_o order_n to_o the_o discourse_n we_o have_v in_o hand_n the_o notion_n of_o spiritual_a lie_v not_o language_n be_v unusual_a go_v among_o a_o great_a many_o ignorant_a and_o well_o mean_v man_n for_o spiritual_a as_o appear_v by_o their_o inordinate_a affect_v certain_a preach_n and_o write_n which_o a_o sober_a holy_a and_o indeed_o spiritual_a man_n will_v look_v upon_o with_o other_o eye_n wherein_o the_o luck_n be_v that_o such_o kind_n of_o author_n be_v best_a and_o most_o ready_o understand_v by_o those_o who_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v be_v ever_o learning_n and_o never_o able_a to_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n which_o suit_n very_o happy_o with_o such_o teacher_n who_o as_o the_o same_o apostle_n say_v know_v neither_o what_o they_o say_v nor_o whereof_o they_o affirm_v spiritualnesse_n therefore_o lie_v not_o in_o the_o follow_a or_o affect_v such_o preacher_n or_o author_n or_o way_n as_o come_v under_o a_o show_n of_o raise_v or_o improve_v reason_n or_o fancy_n nor_o do_v it_o lie_v in_o this_o that_o such_o way_n or_o worship_n be_v more_o proportionable_a or_o more_o suitable_a to_o the_o guise_n and_o fashion_n of_o the_o next_o or_o a_o more_o raise_v state_n if_o any_o one_o can_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o pprophecy_n or_o divine_a revelation_n peep_n into_o another_o world_n and_o see_v what_o the_o converse_n of_o that_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o search_n will_v be_v of_o excellent_a use_n to_o we_o as_o it_o be_v to_o the_o prophet_n of_o old_a who_o inquire_v and_o search_v diligent_o after_o the_o time_n that_o be_v to_o come_v 1_o pet._n 1.10_o but_o will_v be_v no_o warrant_n to_o alter_v or_o change_v from_o the_o way_n of_o life_n or_o worship_n of_o the_o present_a state_n for_o then_o jeroboam_n have_v hit_v it_o though_o not_o in_o his_o end_n perhaps_o yet_o in_o the_o thing_n who_o by_o alter_v the_o time_n and_o place_n of_o worship_n do_v but_o anticipate_v gospel_n practice_n when_o it_o shall_v be_v lawful_a every_o where_n and_o at_o all_o time_n and_o season_n to_o offer_v up_o sacrifice_n acceptable_a and_o agreeable_a to_o god_n then_o also_o it_o have_v be_v more_o spiritual_a in_o the_o last_o state_n or_o time_n of_o the_o jew_n to_o signify_v christ_n death_n by_o break_v of_o bread_n then_o by_o slay_v of_o ox_n or_o by_o worship_v god_n without_o priestly_a adornment_n and_o ceremony_n rather_o than_o with_o they_o some_o of_o the_o prophet_n isaiah_n particular_o and_o david_n see_v far_o into_o the_o way_n of_o that_o state_n that_o be_v then_o to_o come_v yet_o neither_o do_v the_o one_o nor_o the_o other_o nor_o any_o of_o the_o holy_a prophet_n dissuade_v from_o the_o practice_n of_o the_o ceremony_n or_o ordinance_n of_o that_o time_n though_o such_o as_o the_o apostle_n since_o have_v call_v beggarly_a rudiment_n but_o encourage_v and_o exhort_v still_o to_o the_o constant_a persevere_v in_o they_o only_o blame_v they_o when_o they_o be_v alone_o without_o holiness_n of_o life_n and_o conversation_n and_o faith_n in_o god_n which_o they_o all_o spirit_n bemoan_v the_o absense_n of_o glory_v in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o it_o and_o yet_o this_o excellent_a and_o spiritual_a david_n think_v it_o not_o a_o carnal_a and_o unspirituall_a thing_n to_o converse_v with_o god_n in_o the_o ordinance_n of_o that_o state_n wherein_o he_o live_v though_o he_o see_v so_o clear_o and_o happy_o into_o another_o and_o better_o but_o long_v after_o the_o ceremonious_a worship_n of_o those_o time_n and_o envy_v even_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o sparrow_n that_o find_v a_o rest_n in_o god_n house_n and_o by_o god_n altar_n from_o which_o he_o be_v exclude_v and_o if_o we_o consider_v it_o particular_o how_o absurd_a will_v such_o a_o thing_n be_v the_o wise_a god_n have_v fit_v the_o liquor_n to_o the_o vessel_n our_o way_n of_o converse_n with_o he_o in_o thing_n spiritual_a according_a to_o our_o present_a receptive_a faculty_n how_o ridiculous_a will_v it_o be_v to_o suit_n the_o garment_n of_o a_o man_n to_o a_o child_n body_n or_o because_o a_o child_n have_v a_o principle_n in_o he_o that_o be_v rational_a to_o labour_v in_o that_o uncapable_a age_n to_o improve_v that_o principle_n by_o rational_a discourse_n and_o discipline_n so_o and_o much_o more_o absurd_a and_o vain_a be_v it_o to_o suit_n and_o proportion_v the_o converse_n of_o a_o future_a and_o more_o raise_v state_n to_o the_o lowness_n and_o incapacity_n of_o a_o former_a and_o more_o weak_a and_o childish_a one_o yet_o nothing_o be_v more_o frequent_o do_v by_o these_o man_n we_o have_v be_v speak_v of_o by_o which_o mean_v it_o fall_v out_o that_o be_v whole_o unfit_a for_o the_o converse_n of_o a_o more_o excellent_a and_o future_a state_n and_o neglect_v and_o slight_v that_o way_n of_o converse_n which_o god_n have_v make_v their_o portion_n for_o the_o present_a they_o lose_v the_o blessing_n of_o their_o present_a state_n and_o all_o those_o influence_n which_o god_n convey_v to_o we_o by_o medium_n of_o his_o own_o fit_v and_o in_o stead_n of_o increase_v in_o light_n which_o they_o so_o much_o pretend_v to_o they_o grow_v vain_a in_o their_o imagination_n and_o have_v their_o foolish_a heart_n darken_v as_o their_o abominable_a and_o curse_a opinion_n evident_o make_v appear_v by_o that_o prince_n of_o darkness_n who_o transform_v himself_o into_o a_o angel_n of_o light_n so_o that_o to_o conclude_v it_o be_v the_o word_n of_o institution_n for_o the_o present_a state_n in_o which_o we_o live_v that_o give_v the_o notion_n of_o spiritualnesse_n to_o ordinance_n and_o action_n and_o neither_o the_o
