the_o general_a i_o shall_v therefore_o proceed_v to_o particular_n and_o my_o advice_n to_o soul_n be_v that_o they_o endeavour_v to_o acquaint_v themselves_o as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v with_o particular_a case_n and_o according_o to_o provide_v suitable_a cordial_n it_o be_v a_o piece_n of_o human_a prudence_n in_o provision_n for_o corporal_a distemper_n that_o man_n do_v not_o only_o lay_v up_o some_o general_n catholic_a medicine_n as_o physician_n call_v they_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d but_o they_o provide_v particular_a medicine_n for_o particular_a disease_n sure_o we_o shall_v be_v if_o not_o more_o yet_o at_o least_o as_o much_o careful_a in_o provision_n for_o spiritual_a distemper_n as_o for_o corporal_a and_o in_o order_n thereunto_o we_o shall_v study_v to_o understand_v what_o may_v be_v a_o suitable_a support_n unto_o we_o under_o soul-castings_a down_o a_o essay_n unto_o which_o we_o shall_v hold_v forth_o in_o the_o follow_a section_n sect_n ii_o chap._n i._n satisfaction_n to_o soul_n cast_v down_o and_o discover_v their_o fear_n about_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o work_n of_o grace_n have_v in_o the_o former_a section_n hint_v at_o several_a work_v of_o grace_n be_v precious_a but_o i_o fear_v in_o i_o it_o be_v not_o perfect_a case_n case_n satan_n have_v have_v his_o working_n in_o i_o 〈◊〉_d eph._n 2.2_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d cozen_v our_o soul_n as_o if_o we_o have_v be_v cautious_a therefore_o o_o soul_n who_o say_v thou_o fear_v christ_n have_v not_o yet_o wrought_v upon_o thou_o take_v heed_n how_o thou_o judge_v even_o thyself_o in_o this_o case_n and_o for_o this_o end_n take_v with_o thou_o these_o 3_o caution_n viz._n 1_o of_o bind_v yourselves_o to_o particular_a example_n 2_o of_o confine_v christ_n to_o next_o fear_n which_o i_o shall_v speak_v unto_o be_v that_o which_o concern_v the_o author_n of_o that_o work_n which_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n some_o soul_n when_o they_o be_v cast_v down_o cafe_z cafe_z cry_v out_o they_o fear_v that_o all_o that_o work_n which_o be_v pass_v upon_o they_o be_v no_o more_o than_o in_o the_o bare_a letter_n as_o they_o call_v it_o i._n e._n they_o doubt_v whether_o it_o be_v of_o the_o spirit_n yea_o or_o no_o as_o be_v open_v in_o the_o former_a part_n etc._n etc._n now_o for_o the_o remove_n of_o this_o fear_n satisfaction_n satisfaction_n and_o to_o raise_v up_o a_o soul_n that_o be_v cast_v down_o and_o lie_v doubt_v whether_o its_o call_n conviction_n and_o comfort_n be_v from_o the_o spirit_n yea_o or_o no_o i_o shall_v speak_v to_o each_o of_o these_o by_o themselves_o first_o for_o thy_o call_n o_o soul_n thou_o say_v thou_o fear_v thou_o be_v only_o call_v by_o man_n i.e._n wrought_v upon_o to_o leave_v thy_o sin_n and_o former_a and_o that_o hereupon_o unexpected_o thou_o do_v find_v thy_o heart_n move_v to_o take_v another_o course_n peradventure_o thou_o have_v read_v or_o hear_v and_o do_v know_v the_o same_o truth_n before_o o_o but_o at_o such_o or_o such_o a_o time_n thou_o do_v find_v thy_o heart_n more_o wrought_v upon_o by_o it_o than_o ever_o i_o beseech_v you_o serious_o say_v have_v it_o not_o be_v thus_o with_o you_o if_o it_o have_v why_o doubt_v you_o that_o your_o call_n be_v not_o by_o the_o spirit_n but_o 3_o call_v to_o mind_n and_o in_o sincerity_n tell_v and_o confess_v what_o it_o be_v that_o you_o appeal_v to_o god_n that_o in_o your_o call_n you_o do_v at_o lest_o that_o now_o you_o do_v find_v your_o heart_n not_o only_o call_v and_o make_v willing_a to_o leave_v a_o sorrowful_a by_o the_o letter_n and_o legal_a now_o to_o satisfy_v you_o in_o this_o there_o be_v 3_o question_n which_o i_o will_v put_v unto_o you_o and_o in_o the_o sincerity_n of_o your_o heart_n resolve_v they_o 1_o what_o be_v the_o great_a sin_n of_o which_o you_o be_v and_o be_v convict_v when_o thy_o heart_n be_v convince_v of_o sin_n what_o be_v the_o great_a sin_n which_o then_o thou_o be_v convince_v of_o search_v your_o heart_n and_o consider_v what_o answer_n to_o give_v can_v you_o say_v it_o be_v unbelief_n certain_o if_o you_o be_v convince_v of_o that_o it_o be_v the_o spirit_n christ_n come_v in_o they_o can_v be_v comfort_v this_o comfort_n i_o suspect_v be_v legal_a but_o now_o if_o thou_o can_v say_v thy_o comfort_n as_o it_o come_v from_o christ_n so_o it_o come_v and_o come_v still_o from_o christ_n hold_v forth_o pure_o in_o a_o word_n of_o grace_n and_o that_o when_o thou_o can_v see_v nothing_o of_o seife_n to_o fetch_v in_o christ_n that_o then_o in_o a_o promise_n of_o free_a grace_n as_o that_o he_o die_v for_o and_o justify_v the_o ungodly_a when_o i_o say_v then_o thou_o be_v enable_v to_o receive_v comfort_n from_o christ_n so_o bring_v it_o with_o he_o as_o beautiful_a why_o shall_v a_o soul_n think_v that_o satan_n may_v not_o as_o well_o make_v it_o question_v whether_o christ_n be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n as_o he_o do_v endeavour_n of_o soul_n in_o this_o case_n i_o shall_v speak_v unto_o it_o in_o both_o its_o branch_n and_o satisfaction_n satisfaction_n first_o for_o such_o soul_n as_o be_v cast_v down_o and_o disquiet_v and_o cry_v out_o oh_o they_o never_o pray_v in_o all_o their_o life_n it_o be_v true_a they_o say_v they_o have_v sometime_o speak_v in_o prayer_n but_o they_o doubt_v whether_o ever_o they_o pray_v in_o nor_o understanding_n so_o that_o this_o fear_n have_v some_o good_a in_o it_o in_o as_o much_o as_o it_o proceed_v from_o a_o choiceness_n of_o spirit_n but_o second_o take_v heed_n you_o do_v not_o rosh_o nor_o groundless_o condemn_v yourself_o peradventure_o there_o be_v more_o of_o your_o spirit_n in_o prayer_n than_o you_o see_v or_o say_v what_o dare_v you_o deny_v that_o at_o such_o and_o such_o a_o time_n your_o spirit_n be_v in_o your_o prayer_n if_o it_o be_v not_o then_o what_o mean_v those_o sigh_n and_o tear_n and_o groan_n what_o mean_v that_o bear_n of_o the_o bosom_n and_o those_o lifting_n up_o and_o wring_v of_o the_o bond_n if_o your_o spirit_n be_v not_o in_o your_o prayer_n sure_o as_o in_o point_n of_o smn_v albeit_o wicked_a man_n shall_v say_v their_o heart_n christ_n see_v and_o say_v their_o spirit_n be_v in_o it_o the_o spirit_n say_v he_o be_v willing_a but_o the_o flesh_n be_v weak_a christ_n see_v their_o spirit_n and_o acknowledge_v its_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o these_o thing_n may_v be_v and_o yet_o god_n may_v see_v yea_o and_o acknowledge_v thy_o spirit_n to_o be_v in_o thy_o prayer_n object_n but_o alas_o say_v the_o soul_n cast_v down_o suppose_v my_o spirit_n be_v or_o be_v in_o prayer_n what_o be_v that_o i_o fear_v i_o never_o pray_v in_o christ_n spirit_n it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o pray_v in_o our_o spirit_n another_o thing_n to_o pray_v in_o christ_n spirit_n now_o i_o fear_v i_o never_o pray_v in_o the_o strength_n of_o christ_n spirit_n however_o it_o may_v be_v in_o the_o strength_n and_o sincerity_n
