beside_o christ_n as_o those_o which_o desire_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n by_o the_o mean_a of_o angel_n of_o this_o saint_n or_o of_o that_o saint_n and_o believe_v that_o they_o shall_v obtain_v that_o which_o they_o ask_v either_o in_o part_n or_o in_o all_o for_o the_o worthiness_n of_o they_o and_o for_o the_o excellency_n of_o their_o virtue_n or_o for_o the_o preciousness_n of_o their_o own_o work_n all_o those_o in_o like_a manner_n be_v superstitious_a which_o do_v believe_v that_o they_o be_v hear_v and_o shall_v obtain_v any_o grace_n or_o good_a thing_n by_o virtue_n of_o word_n and_o more_o with_o these_o word_n then_o with_o they_o in_o as_o much_o as_o grace_n be_v not_o obtain_v but_o only_o by_o the_o mere_a mercy_n of_o god_n and_o through_o christ_n embrace_v of_o we_o with_o a_o lyvely_a faith_n the_o word_n of_o god_n have_v no_o other_o virtue_n but_o to_o expound_v unto_o we_o make_v manifest_a and_o give_v light_v of_o the_o divine_a will_v of_o god_n with_o put_v our_o trust_n in_o they_o rather_o than_o in_o god_n and_o especial_o in_o man_n because_o they_o be_v of_o the_o same_o form_n and_o kind_a that_o we_o be_v and_o singular_o in_o friend_n and_o kinsfolk_n because_o they_o be_v most_o near_o unto_o we_o but_o above_o all_o we_o be_v incline_v to_o trust_v in_o ourselves_o be_v unto_o we_o i_o will_v not_o say_v more_o like_a and_o near_a but_o one_o and_o the_o self_n same_o thing_n with_o ourselves_o and_o here_o may_v be_v see_v the_o great_a ignorance_n blyndenesse_n &_o pride_n of_o man_n for_o that_o have_v their_o be_v and_o all_o beatitude_n from_o god_n by_o who_o alone_o he_o may_v trust_v for_o and_o have_v all_o benefit_n do_v leave_v he_o and_o do_v rest_n with_o his_o hope_n on_o vain_a shadow_n of_o this_o world_n which_o of_o themselves_o be_v most_o vain_a and_o depend_v only_o upon_o god_n can_v not_o of_o themselves_o do_v any_o good_a for_o the_o son_n of_o god_n descend_v from_o heaven_n have_v take_v it_o have_v not_o god_n alone_o for_o the_o foundation_n but_o also_o the_o wisdom_n power_n &_o goodness_n of_o man_n and_o god_n most_o just_o suffer_v such_o as_o these_o to_o fall_v to_o the_o intent_n the_o opening_z their_o eye_n and_o know_v their_o foolishness_n weakness_n and_o malice_n they_o may_v learn_v not_o only_o not_o to_o put_v confidence_n any_o more_o in_o themselves_o but_o rather_o despair_v thereoff_n and_o so_o put_v their_o whole_a trust_n in_o god_n also_o that_o hope_n which_o many_o have_v be_v not_o true_a who_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v bestow_v his_o but_o that_o also_o moreover_o they_o deserve_v to_o be_v hear_v when_o they_o be_v in_o paradise_n do_v pray_v for_o us._n this_o also_o be_v not_o true_a hope_n see_v in_o some_o part_n it_o be_v found_v upon_o man_n work_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o i_o may_v and_o ought_v entreat_v people_n that_o be_v in_o this_o present_a life_n that_o they_o will_v make_v prayer_n for_o i_o to_o to_o pray_v &_o do_v other_o good_a work_n yet_o notwithstanding_o this_o pleasure_n be_v not_o love_v itself_o but_o the_o effect_n of_o love_n to_o judge_v god_n of_o great_a price_n to_o esteem_v he_o to_o account_v he_o dear_a to_o set_v more_o by_o he_o then_o by_o all_o the_o world_n and_o himself_o they_o all_o be_v effect_n of_o love_n but_o not_o love_v itself_o and_o so_o likewise_o which_o be_v good_a &_o forbicause_n according_a as_o christ_n say_v god_n alone_o be_v good_a in_o truth_n therefore_o he_o only_o ought_v to_o be_v love_v in_o he_o alone_o be_v the_o true_a be_v to_o say_v that_o faith_n and_o likewise_o hope_v be_v of_o thing_n not_o appear_v and_o of_o thing_n which_o be_v not_o see_v with_o corporal_a eye_n nor_o with_o human_a reason_n nor_o yet_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o they_o be_v see_v of_o the_o bless_a nevertheless_o faith_n and_o also_o hope_v be_v of_o thing_n appear_v to_o the_o spiritual_a eye_n of_o faith_n whereby_o the_o truth_n reveal_v be_v see_v with_o great_a light_n and_o with_o a_o great_a certainty_n be_v hope_v for_o than_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n therefore_o paul_n albeit_o he_o be_v in_o fruition_n of_o this_o present_a life_n yet_o as_o be_v certain_a of_o his_o salvation_n and_o of_o the_o salvation_n of_o all_o the_o elect_a &_o already_o through_o hope_n in_o possession_n of_o heaven_n say_v not_o we_o shall_v be_v save_v but_o we_o be_v make_v safe_a through_o hope_n 8._o rom._n 8._o the_o light_a therefore_a of_o faith_n dim_v all_o other_o light_n of_o this_o present_a life_n faith_n doubt_v not_o if_o it_o be_v perfect_a yea_o it_o be_v firm_a steadfast_a safe_a and_o sure_a thou_o will_v say_v but_o we_o see_v in_o some_o respect_n the_o contrary_a by_o experience_n that_o without_o doubt_v of_o those_o thing_n which_o they_o have_v before_o their_o eye_n it_o may_v therefore_o be_v say_v that_o the_o light_n of_o faith_n be_v lesser_a and_o therefore_o waver_a or_o that_o it_o be_v true_a that_o in_o this_o world_n we_o have_v no_o true_a faith_n i_o answer_v and_o say_v that_o as_o the_o light_n of_o the_o sun_n dim_v the_o light_n of_o a_o little_a canndle_n when_o it_o burn_v so_o the_o light_n of_o faith_n do_v by_o other_o light_n of_o this_o present_a life_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o as_o if_o one_o be_v in_o a_o dark_a prison_n where_o as_o the_o sun_n do_v not_o enter_v with_o his_o light_n but_o only_o by_o one_o little_a loop_n hoole_n he_o shall_v better_o see_v with_o a_o candle_n be_v lighten_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v in_o the_o prison_n than_o they_o can_v see_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v abroad_o with_o so_o little_a a_o light_n of_o the_o sun_n even_o so_o the_o soul_n which_o be_v enclose_v in_o the_o body_n and_o in_o this_o world_n be_v as_o in_o a_o prison_n although_o it_o often_o time_n see_v better_o with_o the_o light_n of_o the_o sun_n and_o of_o carnal_a reason_n the_o thing_n of_o this_o present_a life_n than_o those_o thing_n of_o the_o other_o life_n with_o the_o light_n of_o faith_n it_o be_v not_o for_o because_o that_o the_o light_n of_o faith_n be_v not_o far_o great_a than_o other_o light_n but_o it_o be_v because_o we_o have_v but_o a_o little_a light_n of_o faith_n and_o great_a store_n of_o worldly_a light_n but_o if_o we_o have_v as_o much_o light_n of_o faith_n as_o we_o have_v of_o the_o light_n of_o the_o sun_n and_o of_o humane_a wisdom_n we_o will_v not_o doubt_v therefore_o when_o we_o do_v make_v judgement_n of_o natural_a thing_n and_o of_o those_o thing_n which_o we_o have_v before_o our_o eye_n we_o doubt_v not_o because_o we_o have_v nothing_o to_o gainsay_v we_o but_o when_o we_o be_v lift_v up_o to_o secret_a thing_n supernatural_a by_o and_o by_o human_a
