royal_a spirit_n though_o not_o invest_v with_o fullness_n of_o glory_n till_o the_o last_o day_n yet_o of_o a_o heroyicke_a noble_a spirit_n can_v easy_o overlook_a all_o earthly_a drudgery_n and_o resist_v any_o enemy_n we_o meet_v with_o and_o priest_n also_o we_o be_v so_o as_o we_o be_v able_a to_o offer_v up_o sacrifice_n of_o prayer_n and_o thanksgiving_n to_o god_n a_o break_a and_o a_o humble_a heart_n be_v a_o sacrifice_n much_o set_v by_o of_o god_n psalm_n 51.17_o and_o phil._n 2.17_o offer_v upon_o the_o sacrifice_n and_o service_n of_o your_o faith_n we_o be_v now_o enable_v to_o go_v to_o god_n and_o to_o offer_v up_o praise_n to_o he_o which_o be_v as_o incense_n before_o he_o and_o in_o offer_v up_o any_o other_o sacrifice_n of_o a_o holy_a life_n we_o be_v priest_n to_o teach_v other_o also_o to_o lead_v on_o other_o of_o their_o neighbour_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o now_o i_o say_v that_o as_o these_o be_v the_o office_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n so_o there_o be_v no_o child_n of_o god_n that_o have_v the_o son_n but_o he_o have_v all_o these_o in_o he_o he_o be_v now_o a_o man_n of_o a_o royal_a and_o priestly_a and_o prophetical_a spirit_n and_o you_o be_v hereby_o i_o mean_v by_o the_o spirit_n not_o only_o call_v to_o these_o office_n but_o enable_v to_o discharge_v they_o for_o that_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o a_o christian_a in_o heart_n and_o a_o christian_a in_o appearance_n fall_v short_a of_o ability_n to_o perform_v these_o office_n and_o as_o there_o be_v this_o conformity_n to_o the_o nature_n and_o office_n of_o christ_n in_o they_o that_o have_v the_o son_n so_o three_o conformity_n the_o three_o conformity_n there_o be_v a_o conformity_n in_o their_o estate_n you_o know_v christ_n wade_v through_o a_o estate_n of_o humiliation_n and_o exaltation_n these_o be_v the_o main_a principle_n of_o religion_n that_o look_v as_o it_o be_v with_o christ_n estate_n it_o be_v sometime_o the_o time_n wherein_o he_o be_v humble_v in_o this_o world_n all_o the_o course_n of_o his_o life_n be_v a_o time_n of_o humiliation_n and_o that_o unto_o the_o very_a death_n or_o else_o his_o state_n of_o exaltation_n in_o heaven_n that_o then_o when_o he_o be_v most_o mortify_v then_o be_v he_o most_o glorify_a triumph_v open_o and_o mighty_o show_v
and_o to_o make_v we_o believe_v more_o word_n 5._o meditation_n on_o the_o word_n five_o the_o word_n also_o meditate_a upon_o when_o a_o man_n have_v hear_v it_o and_o search_v it_o and_o believe_v it_o read_v and_o confer_v about_o it_o or_o say_v none_o of_o these_o for_o the_o present_a but_o whether_o these_o have_v go_v before_o or_o no_o for_o the_o present_a the_o very_a meditation_n of_o god_n word_n which_o a_o man_n now_o take_v into_o his_o mind_n as_o he_o be_v ride_v or_o work_v there_o be_v a_o mighty_a power_n in_o the_o word_n ponder_v upon_o it_o and_o chew_v of_o it_o to_o law_n of_o god_n day_n and_o night_n he_o grow_v to_o more_o delight_n in_o it_o one_o of_o these_o help_v another_o and_o what_o will_v be_v the_o fruit_n of_o it_o he_o shall_v be_v like_o a_o tree_n plant_v by_o the_o river_n of_o water_n plant_v and_o root_v and_o well_o water_v there_o and_o he_o bring_v forth_o his_o fruit_n in_o due_a season_n and_o whatsoever_o he_o do_v shall_v prosper_v not_o as_o plant_v in_o a_o dry_a wilderness_n but_o by_o the_o river_n of_o water_n and_o that_o make_v he_o not_o only_o well_o root_v and_o grow_v tall_a but_o it_o inable_v he_o to_o your_o own_o faith_n for_o if_o this_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o a_o godly_a teacher_n to_o draw_v on_o those_o that_o be_v believer_n to_o believe_v it_o be_v a_o good_a sign_n as_o of_o a_o faithful_a minister_n so_o of_o a_o faithful_a hearer_n when_o he_o desire_v to_o supply_v the_o defect_n of_o his_o own_o and_o other_o faith_n you_o see_v john_n a_o faithful_a minister_n to_o those_o christian_n to_o who_o he_o write_v he_o when_o he_o have_v bring_v they_o on_o to_o believe_v and_o find_v faith_n wrought_v in_o their_o heart_n it_o be_v his_o care_n not_o there_o to_o leave_v they_o he_o do_v not_o say_v as_o some_o will_v well_o there_o be_v now_o truth_n of_o grace_n in_o they_o and_o truth_n of_o faith_n such_o faith_n as_o accompany_v salvation_n and_o now_o he_o that_o begin_v this_o work_n in_o they_o will_v finish_v it_o and_o so_o leave_v they_o and_o you_o say_v now_o you_o need_v take_v no_o further_a care_n about_o they_o but_o now_o they_o will_v do_v well_o enough_o no_o this_o be_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o faithful_a minister_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o it_o will_v be_v but_o uncomfortable_a to_o such_o minister_n as_o think_v now_o they_o may_v be_v leave_v to_o the_o wide_a world_n minister_n property_n of_o a_o faithful_a minister_n they_o will_v shift_v any_o where_o but_o where_o we_o see_v any_o seed_n of_o faith_n begin_v we_o must_v be_v desirous_a to_o increase_v it_o in_o ourselves_o and_o we_o the_o apostle_n themselves_o pray_v lord_n increase_v our_o faith_n luke_n 17.5_o and_o so_o they_o desire_v to_o increase_v other_o man_n faith_n we_o have_v need_n grow_v fast_o this_o way_n if_o we_o will_v have_v a_o true_a sign_n of_o a_o lively_a faith_n true_a and_o lively_a faith_n always_o desire_v to_o grow_v in_o itself_o and_o it_o will_v cause_v the_o like_a faith_n also_o to_o grow_v in_o other_o and_o therefore_o as_o you_o see_v faithful_a minister_n be_v thus_o desirous_a to_o grow_v themselves_o and_o to_o cause_v other_o to_o grow_v as_o paul_n pray_v exceed_o night_a and_o day_n to_o come_v to_o those_o who_o he_o have_v take_v pain_n withal_o that_o he_o may_v make_v a_o supply_n of_o what_o be_v want_v in_o their_o faith_n and_o as_o faithful_a minister_n must_v clothe_v themselves_o with_o this_o earnest_a desire_n to_o be_v call_v yet_o more_o and_o more_o upon_o believer_n that_o such_o as_o do_v believe_v may_v believe_v yet_o more_o and_o grow_v from_o faith_n to_o faith_n true_o so_o godly_a christian_n look_v as_o minister_n be_v desirous_a to_o grow_v in_o their_o own_o faith_n and_o to_o help_v on_o other_o so_o in_o christian_n it_o be_v a_o true_a sign_n of_o faith_n not_o to_o content_v ourselves_o in_o truth_n of_o faith_n but_o to_o desire_v earnest_o after_o growth_n in_o faith_n have_v not_o they_o cause_n to_o pray_v that_o paul_n may_v come_v among_o they_o again_o and_o help_v they_o and_o therefore_o doubtless_o this_o be_v that_o which_o every_o true_a believer_n have_v respect_n unto_o every_o faithful_a christian_a pray_v for_o himself_o lord_n increase_v my_o faith_n lord_n help_v my_o unbelief_n this_o be_v the_o prayer_n of_o every_o soul_n that_o come_v to_o christ_n that_o though_o we_o have_v some_o measure_n of_o faith_n already_o yet_o mix_v with_o so_o much_o unfruitfulnesse_n and_o unsettledness_n and_o so_o many_o defect_n that_o every_o christian_n have_v cause_n to_o pray_v lord_n help_v my_o unbelief_n sometime_o a_o man_n be_v hinder_v with_o offence_n and_o they_o be_v to_o be_v avoid_v in_o which_o a_o man_n will_v not_o be_v able_a to_o put_v forth_o love_v unless_o he_o have_v a_o strong_a faith_n and_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o the_o apostle_n pray_v so_o earnest_o lord_n increase_v our_o faith_n luk._n 17.5_o for_o it_o be_v upon_o this_o occasion_n our_o saviour_n have_v be_v exhort_v they_o how_o to_o carry_v themselves_o in_o respect_n of_o offence_n if_o thy_o brother_n can_v have_v armour_n of_o proof_n such_o as_o may_v repulse_v a_o weapon_n or_o a_o dart_n cast_v against_o he_o so_o a_o christian_n he_o have_v to_o fight_v against_o many_o enemy_n and_o a_o shield_n cover_v his_o whole_a body_n and_o so_o differ_v from_o a_o buckler_n that_o cover_v but_o one_o part_n but_o a_o shield_n cover_v the_o whole_a man_n stand_v upon_o the_o ground_n and_o cover_v he_o all_o over_o and_o now_o faith_n be_v such_o a_o shield_n it_o be_v of_o mighty_a force_n and_o be_v able_a to_o repulse_v all_o the_o fiery_a dart_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o enemy_n of_o their_o salvation_n so_o that_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n that_o know_v what_o use_n they_o have_v of_o their_o faith_n they_o know_v they_o have_v need_n of_o the_o growth_n and_o increase_n of_o it_o and_o so_o again_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o daily_a employment_n the_o just_a man_n live_v by_o his_o faith_n rom._n
upon_o they_o day_n and_o night_n and_o take_v time_n to_o chew_v and_o digest_v they_o if_o thou_o have_v do_v thus_o than_o thou_o will_v have_v believe_v more_o assure_o but_o if_o we_o be_v negligent_a in_o any_o of_o these_o kind_n then_o wonder_v not_o if_o we_o take_v away_o bodily_a food_n we_o take_v away_o bodily_a heat_n take_v away_o the_o fuel_n that_o nourish_v faith_n and_o then_o it_o must_v needs_o grow_v weak_a and_o infirm_a and_o therefore_o as_o you_o desire_v to_o grow_v in_o believe_v be_v diligent_a in_o these_o duty_n that_o you_o may_v believe_v on_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o in_o believe_v may_v believe_v much_o more_o and_o for_o you_o that_o do_v not_o believe_v save_o who_o faith_n will_v not_o put_v you_o in_o possession_n of_o eternal_a life_n though_o this_o scripture_n be_v not_o so_o much_o write_v for_o your_o use_n and_o benefit_n this_o note_v this_o as_o for_o they_o that_o already_o believe_v yet_o since_o there_o be_v no_o promise_n be_v very_o plain_a wait_v daily_o at_o my_o gate_n imply_v that_o in_o hear_v we_o shall_v find_v he_o and_o in_o find_v christ_n we_o shall_v find_v life_n be_v diligent_a therefore_o to_o in_o such_o a_o point_n as_o wherein_o of_o all_o other_o we_o may_v find_v this_o comfort_n and_o that_o be_v look_v as_o by_o believe_v on_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n we_o shall_v find_v comfort_n in_o respect_n of_o our_o everlasting_a estate_n so_o we_o shall_v find_v this_o further_a benefit_n that_o if_o we_o see_v any_o brother_n which_o have_v sin_v a_o sin_n that_o be_v not_o unto_o death_n not_o a_o deadly_a sin_n that_o be_v not_o the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n so_o mighty_a and_o prevalent_a shall_v our_o prayer_n be_v with_o god_n that_o in_o case_n we_o believe_v on_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o ask_v pardon_n of_o sin_n for_o our_o brother_n offence_n god_n will_v give_v he_o life_n so_o that_o if_o we_o believe_v on_o his_o name_n our_o prayer_n shall_v be_v hear_v and_o they_o have_v a_o prevail_a power_n with_o god_n to_o obtain_v at_o his_o hand_n the_o pardon_n of_o all_o our_o brother_n sin_n that_o have_v not_o sin_v unto_o death_n the_o speak_v peace_n to_o our_o soul_n we_o be_v not_o yet_o come_v to_o that_o condition_n as_o in_o which_o he_o will_v say_v my_o well-beloved_n thou_o be_v all_o fair_a and_o there_o be_v no_o spot_n in_o thou_o he_o yet_o see_v not_o a_o true_a conjugal_a affection_n in_o we_o towards_o he_o so_o as_o that_o though_o we_o shall_v never_o find_v grace_n nor_o glory_n by_o he_o yet_o he_o be_v in_o as_o attendant_n upon_o the_o former_a and_o therefore_o if_o god_n give_v we_o first_o to_o look_v at_o christ_n that_o in_o he_o we_o have_v life_n of_o justification_n and_o sanctification_n and_o consolation_n eternal_a glory_n peace_n and_o grace_n and_o all_o then_o we_o have_v he_o and_o life_n in_o he_o else_o we_o may_v have_v the_o outward_a comfort_n but_o stand_v long_o enough_o only_o a_o free_a man_n when_o he_o be_v most_o bind_v but_o then_o he_o go_v about_o the_o service_n of_o god_n with_o much_o more_o liberty_n of_o spirit_n then_o when_o he_o be_v his_o own_o man_n it_o be_v oft_o time_n wonder_v to_o see_v servant_n be_v call_v what_o care_v they_o will_v have_v of_o christian_a duty_n what_o time_n they_o will_v steal_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n and_o to_o examine_v
themselves_o this_o note_v this_o and_o what_o a_o grief_n it_o be_v to_o they_o to_o see_v this_o and_o that_o duty_n neglect_v in_o the_o family_n and_o they_o be_v very_o free_a to_o god_n but_o afterward_o when_o they_o come_v to_o be_v free_a man_n and_o be_v for_o themselves_o that_o they_o may_v now_o have_v as_o much_o liberty_n as_o they_o will_v pray_v when_o they_o will_v and_o take_v what_o time_n they_o will_v to_o instruct_v those_o that_o be_v about_o they_o which_o time_n they_o want_v when_o they_o be_v servant_n and_o which_o they_o then_o mourn_v under_o and_o yet_o whereas_o then_o they_o will_v serve_v god_n with_o much_o freedom_n and_o liberty_n of_o spirit_n be_v then_o free_a from_o the_o law_n of_o sin_n and_o free_a for_o any_o duty_n there_o be_v now_o a_o secret_a kind_n of_o bondage_n come_v upon_o they_o their_o heart_n be_v more_o imbondaged_a and_o ensnare_v and_o imcombr_v and_o entangle_v and_o so_o duty_n come_v not_o to_o be_v perform_v either_o with_o that_o constancy_n and_o care_n or_o not_o with_o that_o enlargement_n of_o heart_n as_o they_o be_v when_o they_o be_v servant_n and_o therefore_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o the_o apostle_n bid_v they_o not_o be_v over-ready_a to_o challenge_v freedom_n but_o this_o show_v you_o that_o there_o be_v a_o marvellous_a liberty_n even_o in_o those_o that_o be_v servant_n they_o be_v free_a from_o the_o service_n of_o man_n in_o their_o heart_n and_o conscience_n and_o then_o most_o at_o liberty_n to_o serve_v god_n when_o they_o be_v most_o bind_v to_o serve_v man_n yet_o in_o their_o heart_n and_o conscience_n they_o be_v free_a from_o their_o service_n they_o be_v not_o bind_v in_o conscience_n to_o do_v any_o thing_n but_o what_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o this_o be_v a_o marvellous_a great_a freedom_n that_o a_o man_n be_v not_o bind_v to_o become_v a_o slave_n to_o other_o man_n will_n and_o to_o do_v as_o other_o man_n do_v he_o be_v not_o by_o this_o spirit_n of_o liberty_n a_o child_n of_o god_n be_v free_a from_o the_o fear_n of_o sin_n so_o he_o have_v a_o certain_a kind_n of_o privilege_n of_o peace_n in_o his_o soul_n and_o of_o freeness_n and_o readiness_n to_o every_o christian_a duty_n and_o also_o he_o have_v a_o certain_a privilege_n of_o dominion_n over_o all_o the_o creature_n it_o be_v the_o nature_n and_o proper_a definition_n of_o liberty_n freedom_n from_o evil_n and_o liberty_n unto_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o some_o good_a thing_n it_o set_v i_o free_a from_o sin_n and_o give_v i_o liberty_n and_o peace_n of_o conscience_n from_o the_o same_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n it_o set_v i_o at_o liberty_n to_o run_v the_o way_n of_o god_n commandment_n psal_n 119.32_o and_o god_n people_n be_v a_o willing_a people_n psal_n 110.3_o this_o be_v indeed_o a_o spirit_n of_o liberty_n it_o enlarge_v i_o to_o dominion_n over_o man_n no_o creature_n in_o heaven_n or_o in_o earth_n but_o a_o christian_a be_v able_a to_o rule_v he_o to_o his_o own_o advantage_n a_o christian_a servant_n will_v turn_v his_o master_n government_n to_o his_o advantage_n and_o so_o all_o his_o enemy_n tyranny_n he_o will_v be_v sure_a to_o be_v better_o by_o they_o all_o and_o he_o will_v grow_v and_o thrive_v in_o his_o spirit_n by_o all_o the_o danger_n and_o evil_n that_o can_v befall_v he_o in_o this_o world_n i_o know_v not_o in_o what_o better_a to_o instance_n then_o in_o that_o of_o gen._n 25.23_o the_o oracle_n of_o god_n say_v to_o rebecca_n the_o elder_a shall_v serve_v the_o young_a and_o this_o be_v a_o thing_n in_o much_o dispute_n among_o divine_n wherein_o this_o be_v ever_o make_v good_a and_o say_v that_o esau_n be_v never_o a_o servant_n to_o jacob_n for_o you_o shall_v find_v in_o the_o 32._o and_o 33._o chapter_n of_o genesis_n that_o jacob_n use_v this_o word_n my_o lord_n esau_n and_o beseech_v his_o lordship_n to_o go_v before_o and_o his_o servant_n will_v follow_v bright_a than_o it_o be_v before_o the_o end_n of_o all_o be_v but_o to_o take_v away_o the_o filth_n and_o to_o make_v it_o clear_a and_o bright_a and_o so_o a_o huswife_n that_o take_v her_o linen_n she_o sope_v it_o and_o bedawb_v it_o and_o it_o may_v be_v defile_v it_o with_o dung_n so_o as_o it_o neither_o look_n nor_o smell_n well_o and_o when_o she_o have_v do_v she_o rub_v it_o and_o buck_n it_o and_o wring_v it_o and_o in_o the_o end_n all_o this_o be_v but_o to_o make_v it_o clean_a and_o white_a and_o true_o so_o it_o be_v here_o when_o as_o tyrant_n most_o of_o all_o insult_n over_o god_n people_n and_o scour_v they_o and_o lay_v they_o in_o lee_n or_o dung_n so_o as_o the_o very_a name_n of_o they_o stink_v yet_o what_o be_v this_o but_o to_o purge_v they_o and_o to_o make_v they_o white_a and_o it_o be_v a_o great_a service_n they_o do_v to_o the_o people_n of_o god_n in_o so_o
do_v and_o this_o be_v a_o great_a measure_n of_o liberty_n that_o a_o child_n of_o god_n can_v tell_v how_o to_o make_v a_o advantage_n of_o all_o the_o affliction_n he_o meet_v with_o in_o this_o world_n these_o thing_n do_v but_o serve_v his_o turn_n and_o afterward_o he_o will_v say_v he_o can_v have_v miss_v none_o of_o they_o so_o that_o this_o be_v a_o second_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o son_n it_o be_v a_o spirit_n of_o liberty_n only_o take_v this_o word_n for_o a_o conclusion_n and_o that_o be_v thus_o much_o examine_v now_o and_o try_v whether_o you_o have_v the_o son_n or_o no_o which_o you_o may_v know_v by_o your_o have_v or_o not_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o the_o son_n say_v then_o have_v you_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o son_n viz._n have_v you_o that_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n that_o make_v you_o to_o be_v of_o one_o and_o the_o same_o nature_n with_o he_o of_o the_o same_o office_n and_o same_o estate_n with_o he_o can_v you_o find_v this_o in_o truth_n and_o that_o with_o comfort_n and_o honesty_n you_o may_v reason_n this_o be_v the_o frame_n of_o my_o spirit_n such_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n and_o such_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o if_o in_o any_o thing_n you_o fail_v your_o spirit_n be_v against_o it_o do_v you_o find_v that_o you_o be_v in_o some_o measure_n invest_v with_o a_o royal_a spirit_n that_o you_o can_v overcome_v yourselves_o and_o the_o temptation_n of_o this_o world_n and_o be_v you_o able_a to_o offer_v up_o spiritual_a sacrifice_n to_o god_n of_o prayer_n and_o praise_n and_o do_v you_o find_v a_o spirit_n of_o prophecy_n shed_v abroad_o into_o you_o that_o make_v you_o sensible_a of_o and_o privy_a to_o the_o secret_a path_n of_o god_n do_v you_o find_v that_o christ_n be_v most_o glorious_a when_o he_o be_v most_o humble_v and_o so_o be_v you_o and_o when_o you_o enjoy_v outward_a blessing_n your_o heart_n be_v not_o puff_v up_o with_o they_o these_o be_v not_o the_o goodly_a stone_n that_o your_o heart_n and_o eye_n be_v set_v upon_o but_o you_o have_v great_a matter_n than_o these_o to_o mind_n then_o i_o say_v it_o be_v the_o very_a spirit_n of_o christ_n that_o make_v you_o to_o die_v with_o christ_n as_o well_o as_o christ_n to_o die_v for_o you_o he_o may_v die_v for_o many_o man_n but_o he_o only_o die_v with_o those_o that_o be_v bring_v on_o to_o the_o fellowship_n of_o his_o grace_n if_o a_o spirit_n of_o christ_n so_o knit_v you_o together_o that_o he_o be_v you_o and_o you_o be_v he_o than_o you_o have_v the_o son_n proportion_n no_o conformity_n to_o christ_n in_o holiness_n and_o righteousness_n not_o patient_a and_o meek_a as_o he_o be_v and_o though_o we_o be_v not_o such_o yet_o we_o allow_v ourselves_o in_o free_a from_o the_o service_n of_o man_n but_o as_o our_o master_n and_o governor_n say_v so_o it_o must_v be_v if_o we_o yet_o know_v not_o how_o to_o rule_v man_n for_o our_o own_o advantage_n we_o have_v not_o yet_o receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n we_o can_v tell_v how_o to_o serve_v our_o master_n with_o liberty_n of_o spirit_n we_o know_v not_o how_o to_o make_v advantage_n of_o they_o it_o be_v a_o wonderful_a dishonour_n to_o he_o to_o save_v they_o who_o he_o do_v not_o rule_v to_o save_v they_o from_o the_o power_n of_o the_o grave_n and_o to_o leave_v they_o still_o in_o their_o sin_n and_o unbroken_v off_o from_o their_o evil_a way_n it_o be_v much_o dishonour_n to_o he_o it_o be_v a_o dishonour_n to_o parent_n to_o have_v child_n and_o to_o have_v they_o untaught_a and_o unmannerly_a and_o god_n have_v give_v the_o life_n blood_n of_o his_o own_o son_n to_o purchase_v we_o unto_o himself_o and_o therefore_o he_o will_v not_o only_o save_v we_o but_o rule_v we_o or_o else_o we_o shall_v never_o have_v he_o for_o our_o saviour_n so_o that_o here_o be_v two_o point_n to_o be_v open_v point_n 1_o first_o he_o that_o have_v the_o son_n have_v he_o for_o his_o saviour_n point_n 2_o second_o he_o that_o have_v the_o son_n have_v he_o also_o for_o his_o lord_n it_o be_v a_o usual_a say_n every_o man_n will_v have_v christ_n for_o a_o saviour_n but_o rare_a be_v those_o that_o will_v have_v he_o for_o their_o ruler_n and_o governor_n but_o though_o the_o say_n be_v true_a in_o respect_n of_o the_o common_a conceit_n of_o man_n yet_o in_o truth_n i_o say_v they_o be_v but_o rare_a christian_n that_o will_v have_v he_o for_o a_o saviour_n so_o far_o off_o be_v they_o from_o desire_v he_o as_o their_o lord_n for_o two_o thing_n there_o be_v that_o go_v to_o the_o have_v of_o christ_n for_o a_o saviour_n thing_n to_o have_v christ_n for_o a_o saviour_n require_v two_o thing_n first_o he_o that_o will_v have_v christ_n for_o a_o saviour_n must_v look_v up_o to_o he_o for_o salvation_n in_o all_o his_o way_n and_o distress_n we_o have_v other_o saviour_n but_o not_o he_o if_o we_o look_v for_o salvation_n elsewhere_o esa_n 40.22_o look_v unto_o i_o all_o you_o end_v of_o the_o earth_n and_o be_v you_o save_v there_o be_v no_o god_n nor_o saviour_n beside_o i_o &_o therefore_o look_v to_o i_o and_o be_v you_o save_v so_o that_o if_o a_o man_n will_v have_v god_n for_o his_o saviour_n he_o must_v look_v to_o he_o from_o one_o end_n of_o the_o earth_n to_o the_o other_o we_o be_v at_o the_o utmost_a corner_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o if_o we_o will_v be_v save_v we_o must_v look_v up_o to_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o salvation_n as_o david_n look_v towards_o the_o temple_n at_o jerusalem_n for_o salvation_n
though_o at_o the_o first_o it_o may_v be_v weak_a yet_o it_o grow_v to_o that_o temper_n by_o which_o it_o may_v propagate_v and_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n be_v most_o strong_a in_o this_o regard_n it_o no_o soon_o move_v and_o feed_v or_o grow_v in_o any_o measure_n or_o begin_v to_o expel_v any_o ill_a matter_n but_o it_o will_v have_v a_o mind_n to_o be_v fruitful_a beget_v its_o kind_n and_o that_o be_v above_o natural_a life_n a_o christian_a be_v most_o apt_a and_o ready_a to_o draw_v on_o other_o to_o be_v like_o himself_o as_o soon_o as_o ever_o the_o woman_n of_o samaria_n see_v that_o jesus_n be_v indeed_o the_o messiah_n and_o find_v true_a sweetness_n in_o he_o the_o very_a same_o hour_n she_o run_v into_o the_o town_n and_o tell_v her_o neighbour_n come_v see_v a_o man_n life_n will_v show_v itself_o in_o the_o very_a sad_a face_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o dejection_n of_o spirit_n that_o they_o fall_v into_o and_o sometime_o in_o the_o deep_a sigh_n and_o groan_n of_o the_o heart_n which_o in_o such_o a_o case_n it_o sometime_o will_v break_v forth_o into_o so_o a_o christian_a soul_n when_o his_o heat_n be_v most_o damp_a there_o be_v a_o sad_a face_n in_o his_o spirit_n that_o he_o discern_v all_o be_v not_o well_o with_o he_o his_o spirit_n be_v benumb_v &_o his_o heart_n in_o his_o own_o thought_n be_v freeze_v within_o he_o it_o be_v a_o burden_n to_o he_o and_o a_o matter_n of_o sadness_n to_o his_o spirit_n and_o therefore_o he_o do_v express_v himself_o sometime_o with_o many_o sad_a and_o deep_a sigh_n and_o groan_n about_o his_o forlorn_a the_o apostle_n writing_n as_o the_o apostle_n sometime_o speak_v of_o pprophecy_n or_o miracle_n miracle_n be_v for_o they_o that_o believe_v not_o but_o prophesy_v for_o they_o that_o believe_v he_o father_n shall_v be_v accept_v three_o the_o atonement_n or_o propitiation_n that_o our_o saviour_n make_v to_o our_o bless_a father_n speak_v of_o in_o the_o same_o place_n 1_o joh._n 2.2_o atonement_n or_o propitiation_n the_o thing_n be_v this_o that_o whereas_o many_o a_o servant_n of_o god_n may_v fear_v his_o petition_n will_v never_o be_v grant_v because_o he_o have_v be_v so_o of_o sin_n and_o yet_o not_o so_o much_o comfort_v promise_v they_o that_o after_o all_o this_o they_o shall_v find_v it_o but_o in_o the_o end_n to_o purgatory_n they_o must_v go_v and_o that_o be_v as_o ill_a as_o hell_n fire_n say_v they_o save_v only_o in_o durance_n and_o this_o be_v all_o the_o help_n they_o have_v they_o may_v whip_v and_o scourge_v themselves_o and_o give_v all_o their_o good_n away_o to_o the_o poor_a and_o themselves_o go_v in_o sackcloth_n and_o ash_n all_o their_o day_n and_o when_o all_o come_v to_o all_o they_o must_v not_o be_v sure_a of_o any_o mercy_n or_o favour_n from_o god_n which_o to_o believe_v will_v be_v heretical_a presumption_n but_o they_o must_v notwithstanding_o all_o this_o rest_n in_o hell_n fire_n till_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n unless_o they_o will_v be_v at_o cost_n to_o purchase_v freedom_n from_o it_o and_o which_o be_v strange_a though_o they_o will_v not_o suffer_v they_o to_o believe_v a_o release_n by_o christ_n pardon_n yet_o upon_o the_o pope_n pardon_n they_o may_v have_v hope_n and_o so_o they_o take_v more_o pain_n for_o a_o uncertainty_n than_o we_o for_o certainty_n and_o knowledge_n but_o you_o shall_v not_o only_o attain_v certainty_n of_o salvation_n but_o certainty_n of_o the_o grant_n of_o all_o your_o request_n no_o peace_n to_o the_o peace_n of_o a_o believer_n and_o therefore_o lie_v aside_o all_o your_o confidence_n in_o the_o world_n but_o be_v confident_a in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o be_v certain_a of_o god_n favour_n and_o goodness_n to_o you_o in_o he_o and_o then_o here_o be_v such_o blessing_n as_o will_v keep_v a_o man_n heart_n warm_a in_o the_o worst_a hour_n use_v 2._o to_o teach_v such_o as_o believe_v on_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n how_o you_o may_v come_v to_o be_v confident_a and_o certain_a of_o the_o hear_n and_o grant_v your_o petition_n how_o may_v we_o come_v to_o that_o have_v thou_o good_a evidence_n to_o thy_o soul_n of_o thy_o adoption_n that_o god_n be_v thy_o father_n then_o meditate_v well_o upon_o this_o point_n that_o christ_n be_v thy_o advocate_n to_o make_v intercession_n and_o atonement_n for_o thou_o in_o case_n thou_o have_v displease_v thy_o heavenly_a father_n these_o two_o thing_n will_v much_o prevail_v they_o be_v strong_a help_n to_o a_o weak_a faith_n and_o then_o consider_v what_o unction_n thou_o have_v receive_v and_o look_v up_o to_o god_n that_o he_o will_v give_v thou_o a_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n to_o pray_v feel_o and_o fervent_o and_o humble_o before_o he_o and_o then_o labour_v for_o a_o spirit_n of_o faith_n which_o if_o god_n give_v thou_o so_o much_o faith_n as_o to_o persuade_v thou_o thy_o request_n be_v hear_v and_o to_o wrestle_v against_o discouragement_n and_o that_o the_o spirit_n of_o faith_n do_v work_n in_o thou_o grace_n to_o hope_v and_o wait_v upon_o god_n and_o withal_o a_o holy_a fear_n of_o his_o name_n and_o obedience_n to_o walk_v obedient_o in_o do_v his_o will_n and_o patient_o to_o suffer_v his_o will_n under_o his_o hand_n and_o observe_v how_o the_o spirit_n speak_v evident_o in_o this_o and_o that_o kind_n and_o it_o will_v be_v a_o notable_a mean_n to_o help_v thou_o to_o grow_v confident_a and_o certain_a that_o all_o thy_o prayer_n be_v hear_v now_o many_o a_o christian_a soul_n fall_v short_a of_o this_o he_o consider_v not_o the_o atonement_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o prayer_n but_o many_o time_n thus_o stand_v the_o case_n with_o they_o there_o be_v much_o desolutenesse_n in_o their_o life_n and_o looseness_n and_o fearlesnesse_n in_o their_o heart_n before_o god_n rejoice_v not_o with_o tremble_v god_n see_v his_o servant_n loose_v in_o their_o obedience_n and_o when_o disobedient_a they_o
