in_o his_o step_n but_o it_o be_v here_o grant_v that_o there_o must_v be_v impart_v righteousness_n and_o that_o it_o must_v be_v retain_v and_o therefore_o impute_v righteousness_n not_o cast_v out_o nor_o reject_v if_o not_o cast_v out_o nor_o reject_v than_o it_o must_v be_v retain_v within_o so_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n i_o may_v just_o argue_v that_o it_o be_v sad_a that_o impute_v righteousness_n may_v not_o be_v retain_v but_o impart_v righteousness_n must_v be_v cast_v forth_o and_o loathe_v as_o popery_n or_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v reckon_v as_o deny_v christ_n merit_n or_o deserve_n while_o we_o be_v also_o assert_v his_o inward_a work_n righteousness_n and_o obedience_n of_o faith_n unto_o justification_n for_o these_o be_v not_o inconsistent_a qr._n to_o william_n penn'_v affirm_v that_o christ_n work_n be_v twofold_a one_a to_o remit_v forgive_v or_o justify_v from_o the_o imputation_n of_o sin_n past_a such_o as_o true_o repent_v and_o believe_v merit_n dignity_n and_o interest_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v confess_v in_o the_o second_o be_v his_o power_n and_o work_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o heart_n unto_o sanctification_n and_o justification_n assert_v which_o do_v not_o oppose_v but_o effectual_o speak_v forth_o his_o dignity_n and_o merit_n for_o man_n eternal_a good_a pr._n ibid._n the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o quake_a repentance_n and_o faith_n nor_o be_v justification_n whole_o place_v upon_o the_o inherent_a or_o inward_a righteousness_n of_o christ_n but_o both_o be_v concern_v in_o man_n absolute_a justification_n only_o the_o doctrine_n of_o imputation_n to_o exclude_v or_o reject_v christ_n inherent_a righteousness_n in_o justification_n of_o the_o unrighteous_a unconvert_v or_o wicked_a this_o we_o oppose_v as_o unsound_a §_o vi_o and_o further_o there_o be_v no_o such_o correspondency_n between_o the_o papist_n and_o quaker_n in_o the_o point_n for_o the_o papist_n place_v the_o merit_n of_o justification_n and_o salvation_n upon_o their_o own_o work_n after_o the_o first_o justification_n by_o christ_n merit_n thereby_o render_v god_n indebt_v to_o they_o for_o their_o good_a work_n act_n of_o charity_n etc._n etc._n though_o do_v by_o his_o grace_n the_o quaker_n distinguish_v between_o merit_n in_o the_o strict_a sense_n as_o use_v by_o the_o papist_n and_o obtain_v acceptance_n with_o god_n upon_o the_o faithful_a improvement_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o obedience_n of_o faith_n god_n accept_v we_o in_o and_o for_o christ_n sake_n in_o our_o obedience_n
