favour_n who_o give_v his_o own_o self_n to_o the_o death_n to_o purchase_v our_o life_n sure_o we_o shall_v then_o declare_v ourselves_o to_o be_v worse_o than_o the_o bruit_n beast_n who_o yet_o use_v to_o have_v some_o regard_n to_o their_o master_n that_o feed_v they_o and_o show_v they_o favour_n if_o we_o shall_v not_o then_o careful_o take_v heed_n unto_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v speak_v unto_o we_o of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n who_o have_v so_o dear_o love_v we_o even_o the_o very_a bruit_n beast_n shall_v be_v sufficient_a to_o condemn_v us._n let_v we_o therefore_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n look_v unto_o it_o not_o slender_o and_o with_o dull_a ear_n and_o hard_a heart_n consider_v of_o it_o for_o it_o be_v the_o dear_a son_n of_o god_n that_o speak_v unto_o we_o that_o require_v of_o we_o that_o we_o love_v one_o a_o other_o if_o he_o have_v but_o slender_o handle_v our_o matter_n concern_v our_o redemption_n we_o have_v be_v but_o in_o slender_a case_n we_o who_o majesty_n we_o dare_v so_o bold_o abuse_v if_o it_o be_v high_a treason_n to_o cast_v off_o the_o word_n of_o a_o prince_n &_o make_v no_o account_n of_o they_o what_o shall_v we_o say_v of_o the_o reject_v the_o word_n of_o this_o our_o heavenly_a prince_n and_o saviour_n you_o see_v then_o it_o stand_v we_o in_o hand_n diligent_o to_o hear_v prudent_o to_o mark_v and_o deep_o to_o weigh_v these_o word_n which_o here_o be_v speak_v for_o they_o be_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n who_o of_o his_o unspeakable_a love_n have_v give_v himself_o for_o us._n and_o yet_o further_o than_o this_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o circumstance_n of_o the_o time_n when_o these_o word_n be_v speak_v it_o will_v make_v we_o yet_o a_o little_a more_o careful_a to_o think_v upon_o they_o it_o be_v at_o such_o time_n as_o he_o be_v now_o near_o his_o death_n for_o in_o the_o verse_n go_v
a_o time_n and_o he_o will_v pay_v he_o the_o whole_a the_o king_n take_v compassion_n upon_o the_o man_n forgive_v he_o the_o whole_a debt_n this_o man_n be_v so_o discharge_v go_v his_o way_n and_o find_v one_o of_o his_o fellow_n that_o owe_v he_o a_o certain_a small_a trifle_a piece_n of_o money_n and_o raging_o catch_v he_o by_o the_o throat_n command_v he_o to_o pay_v that_o he_o owe_v the_o poor_a man_n amaze_v fall_v down_o at_o his_o foot_n with_o weep_a tear_n humble_o beseech_v he_o to_o be_v good_a unto_o he_o and_o he_o will_v pay_v he_o all_o the_o other_o will_v not_o hear_v debt_n when_o thou_o besoughte_v i_o ought_v not_o thou_o to_o have_v have_v compassion_n upon_o thy_o fellow_n also_o as_o i_o have_v on_o thou_o &_o the_o king_n in_o great_a displeasure_n command_v he_o to_o be_v deliver_v to_o the_o tormentor_n 35._o even_o so_o say_v our_o saviour_n christ_n will_v my_o heavenly_a father_n do_v to_o you_o unless_o you_o forgive_v one_o another_o from_o the_o bottom_n of_o your_o heart_n your_o sin_n and_o offence_n do_v one_o to_o another_o this_o be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n it_o be_v not_o i_o they_o be_v his_o own_o word_n and_o therefore_o they_o must_v be_v mark_v it_o be_v a_o wonder_n to_o see_v how_o much_o we_o can_v make_v of_o a_o small_a offence_n do_v unto_o we_o &_o how_o small_a account_n we_o make_v of_o our_o great_a offence_n do_v to_o god_n if_o one_o do_v but_o a_o little_a contrary_n to_o our_o mind_n in_o any_o small_a matter_n oh_o we_o make_v it_o so_o great_a a_o matter_n we_o have_v never_o do_v with_o it_o and_o hardly_o shall_v a_o man_n bring_v we_o to_o any_o good_a agreement_n we_o be_v so_o hard_o heart_v it_o will_v not_o out_o of_o our_o stomach_n but_o we_o must_v be_v revenge_v strait_a way_n we_o will_v wait_v he_o at_o the_o advantage_n once_o in_o our_o life_n time_n to_o be_v even_o with_o he_o if_o we_o can_v what_o be_v this_o else_o but_o to_o provoke_v god_n fierce_a wrath_n and_o indignation_n upon_o we_o and_o to_o heap_v god_n judgement_n upon_o we_o jesus_n christ_n tell_v we_o even_o so_o will_v our_o heavenly_a father_n deal_v with_o us._n do_v it_o not_o now_o then_o stand_v we_o in_o hand_n to_o forgive_v one_o another_o to_o put_v malice_n and_o hatred_n out_o of_o our_o heart_n and_o now_o at_o the_o length_n to_o learn_v perfect_o this_o lesson_n at_o our_o saviour_n his_o hand_n to_o love_v one_o another_o as_o he_o love_v we_o not_o only_o they_o that_o do_v we_o good_a but_o even_o our_o enemy_n and_o they_o that_o hate_v us._n true_a it_o be_v we_o must_v never_o love_v the_o sin_n of_o our_o enemy_n nor_o of_o none_o else_o but_o always_o be_v in_o deadly_a hatred_n with_o that_o but_o yet_o we_o must_v love_v and_o pity_v the_o person_n of_o our_o enemy_n that_o be_v in_o danger_v thereby_o and_o if_o this_o be_v well_o weigh_v you_o shall_v see_v that_o we_o have_v more_o need_n to_o pity_n then_o to_o hate_v our_o enemy_n if_o there_o be_v any_o injury_n or_o harm_n do_v unto_o we_o either_o by_o word_n or_o deed_n 22._o they_o that_o do_v it_o be_v guilty_a of_o hell_n fire_n so_o say_v jesus_n christ_n will_v it_o not_o pity_v our_o heart_n to_o see_v any_o in_o the_o torment_n of_o hell_n alas_o yes_o if_o we_o be_v not_o worse_o than_o bruit_n beast_n we_o will_v take_v pity_n upon_o they_o and_o sure_o in_o that_o case_n be_v all_o those_o which_o do_v we_o harm_n unless_o they_o repent_v and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n jesus_n pity_v the_o case_n of_o they_o that_o put_v he_o to_o death_n because_o he_o know_v in_o what_o dangerous_a estate_n their_o soul_n be_v whereas_o they_o in_o spite_n and_o rage_n against_o he_o be_v so_o blind_a that_o they_o can_v not_o see_v it_o but_o alas_o he_o see_v it_o and_o pity_v their_o case_n 34._o and_o pray_v say_v o_o father_n forgive_v they_o they_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o they_o do_v they_o be_v even_o almost_o in_o the_o gulf_n of_o hell_n and_o yet_o see_v it_o not_o they_o be_v so_o blind_a in_o their_o rage_n that_o they_o run_v headlong_o to_o hell_n and_o never_o think_v upon_o it_o the_o same_o affection_n must_v be_v in_o we_o towards_o our_o enemy_n if_o we_o be_v of_o the_o same_o spirit_n of_o christ_n we_o must_v pity_v their_o case_n that_o have_v do_v any_o harm_n or_o injury_n against_o we_o &_o thus_o think_v o_o lord_n god_n this_o their_o fact_n be_v damnable_a before_o thy_o eye_n they_o have_v deserve_v hell_n fire_n and_o yet_o o_o lord_n they_o see_v it_o not_o good_a lord_n give_v they_o heart_n and_o mind_n to_o see_v their_o sin_n that_o they_o may_v see_v in_o what_o danger_n they_o be_v in_o and_o so_o turn_v unto_o thou_o and_o repent_v thus_o you_o see_v how_o we_o must_v pity_v our_o enemy_n and_o pray_v for_o they_o &_o do_v what_o we_o can_v to_o bring_v they_o out_o of_o the_o danger_n there_o be_v none_o without_o so_o much_o natural_a affection_n but_o he_o will_v pity_v the_o life_n of_o any_o thing_n be_v in_o danger_n if_o it_o be_v but_o a_o ox_n or_o a_o ass_n to_o put_v it_o out_o of_o the_o mire_n if_o he_o can_v there_o be_v none_o so_o brutish_a that_o will_v suffer_v the_o life_n of_o a_o beast_n to_o perish_v if_o he_o can_v help_v it_o much_o more_o be_v the_o life_n of_o man_n to_o be_v pity_v be_v in_o danger_n but_o much_o more_o be_v the_o everlasting_a life_n of_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n to_o be_v tender_v be_v in_o danger_n while_o thy_o enemy_n rage_v against_o thou_o with_o all_o despite_n and_o villainy_n his_o poor_a soul_n be_v in_o peril_n to_o be_v drown_v in_o the_o gulf_n of_o hell_n ought_v not_o thou_o to_o pity_v his_o estate_n and_o reach_v out_o thy_o hand_n to_o help_v he_o out_o and_o not_o like_o a_o unmerciful_a man_n to_o plunge_v he_o down_o to_o be_v drown_v that_o thou_o may_v revenge_v thy_o spite_n and_o malice_n for_o the_o injury_n &_o harm_n he_o have_v do_v unto_o thou_o there_o be_v none_o so_o cruel_a that_o will_v deal_v so_o with_o a_o very_a beast_n if_o we_o have_v receive_v any_o harm_n at_o any_o beast_n hand_n either_o a_o stroke_n with_o a_o horse_n his_o foot_n or_o such_o like_a if_o we_o shall_v happen_v to_o see_v the_o poor_a beast_n after_o that_o in_o peril_n of_o drown_v be_v there_o any_o so_o cruel_a that_o he_o may_v be_v revenge_v of_o the_o harm_n do_v unto_o he_o will_v let_v the_o poor_a beast_n starve_v or_o else_o violent_o push_v he_o headlong_o and_o hold_v down_o his_o head_n to_o drown_v he_o surely_n none_o will_v do_v it_o unless_o he_o be_v worse_o a_o thousand_o fold_n then_o a_o beast_n what_o do_v we_o mean_v then_o see_v the_o soul_n of_o our_o enemy_n in_o so_o great_a peril_n by_o continuance_n in_o their_o sin_n that_o we_o do_v not_o pity_v their_o case_n to_o pray_v for_o they_o to_o help_v they_o out_o but_o rather_o to_o revenge_v our_o malice_n do_v soon_o push_v they_o in_o forwards_o headlong_a to_o destruction_n nay_o rather_o what_o do_v we_o mean_v in_o push_v they_o forward_o to_o destruction_n to_o throw_v ourselves_o down_o headlong_o with_o they_o to_o the_o pit_n of_o hell_n for_o what_o be_v it_o else_o when_o we_o bear_v hatred_n spite_n and_o malice_n against_o they_o it_o be_v murder_n before_o god_n and_o therefore_o guilty_a of_o hell_n sire_n have_v we_o not_o then_o notable_o prevail_v against_o our_o enemy_n 15._o when_o for_o pure_a spiteful_a love_n and_o revengeful_a good_a will_n towards_o they_o we_o will_v even_o jump_v with_o they_o into_o the_o dungeon_n of_o hell_n this_o be_v not_o to_o love_v one_o another_o as_o the_o lord_n love_v we_o well_o then_o good_a brethren_n i_o pray_v you_o let_v we_o look_v unto_o it_o we_o must_v love_v one_o another_o yea_o even_o our_o enemy_n for_o so_o do_v christ_n love_v we_o his_o enemy_n we_o must_v love_v their_o soul_n and_o pity_v their_o soul_n and_o help_v they_o even_o as_o we_o can_v we_o must_v not_o so_o much_o regard_v the_o spite_n they_o have_v do_v unto_o we_o as_o the_o danger_n their_o soul_n be_v in_o before_o god_n and_o this_o may_v make_v we_o to_o stay_v our_o rage_n and_o revengement_n against_o our_o brethren_n when_o they_o have_v offend_v we_o for_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o we_o be_v so_o out_o of_o patience_n with_o they_o that_o have_v do_v we_o injury_n
thing_n that_o may_v seem_v to_o make_v for_o the_o contrary_n and_o namely_o first_o the_o consideration_n of_o our_o natural_a corruption_n cleave_v fast_o unto_o we_o hinder_v we_o from_o that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o draw_v we_o to_o that_o which_o be_v evil_a even_o after_o such_o time_n as_o we_o do_v believe_v of_o which_o he_o have_v speak_v in_o the_o other_o chapter_n and_o in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o this_o declare_v that_o by_o the_o imputation_n of_o the_o perfect_a holiness_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v take_v away_o which_o we_o know_v both_o by_o the_o fruit_n of_o it_o which_o be_v that_o we_o be_v sanctify_v in_o part_n and_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n which_o teach_v we_o to_o call_v god_n abba_n father_n second_o the_o consideration_n of_o those_o manifold_a &_o grievous_a affliction_n which_o may_n &_o do_v befall_v we_o in_o this_o world_n whereby_o it_o may_v seem_v that_o our_o way_n be_v not_o so_o acceptable_a to_o the_o lord_n that_o we_o may_v have_v comfort_n therein_o in_o which_o he_o deal_v in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o this_o chapter_n from_o vers_fw-la 17._o to_o the_o end_n of_o it_o show_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o far_o from_o keep_v we_o from_o salvation_n as_o that_o in_o they_o we_o have_v christ_n jesus_n that_o go_v before_o in_o all_o affliction_n further_o than_o we_o can_v and_o yet_o at_o the_o last_o come_v unto_o glory_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o patient_o abide_v as_o we_o have_v not_o only_o the_o prophet_n apostle_n and_o martyr_n but_o christ_n himself_o to_o be_v our_o fellow_n in_o they_o so_o we_o shall_v be_v fellow_n with_o he_o and_o like_a unto_o he_o in_o glory_n and_o lest_o that_o it_o may_v seem_v grievous_a unto_o we_o to_o go_v to_o so_o happy_a a_o estate_n through_o so_o grievous_a a_o way_n and_o so_o may_v think_v that_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n though_o it_o be_v so_o precious_a we_o shall_v buy_v it_o too_o dear_a he_o tell_v we_o assure_o that_o by_o cast_v the_o account_n he_o have_v find_v it_o to_o be_v most_o true_a that_o all_o the_o affliction_n in_o this_o miserable_a and_o wretched_a world_n be_v not_o to_o be_v compare_v in_o greatness_n or_o continuance_n unto_o the_o glory_n that_o shall_v be_v reveal_v we_o vers_fw-la 18._o which_o as_o it_o be_v thus_o great_a so_o it_o be_v most_o sure_a and_o certain_a and_o therefore_o we_o need_v not_o in_o no_o wise_a to_o doubt_v of_o it_o for_o the_o very_a creature_n themselves_o have_v a_o certain_a sense_n and_o feel_n of_o it_o which_o but_o for_o a_o time_n be_v subject_a to_o this_o vanity_n that_o be_v corruption_n and_o abuse_n which_o they_o be_v and_o by_o the_o instinct_n of_o nature_n do_v most_o earnest_o and_o as_o it_o be_v with_o their_o head_n lift_v up_o look_v for_o the_o reveal_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n that_o they_o may_v be_v redeem_v from_o bondage_n into_o their_o glorious_a liberty_n and_o shall_v not_o be_v disappoint_v of_o their_o hope_n therefore_o much_o more_o we_o that_o have_v receive_v the_o first_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n shall_v with_o great_a patience_n in_o trouble_n abide_v the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o with_o more_o certainty_n and_o earnest_a desire_n look_v for_o a_o happy_a chance_n of_o all_o our_o affliction_n in_o that_o most_o glorious_a day_n v._o 20_o 21_o 22_o 23._o the_o which_o condition_n though_o grievous_a for_o a_o time_n but_o happy_a in_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v not_o refuse_v to_o undergo_v with_o the_o rest_n of_o he_o creature_n and_o our_o brethren_n he_o will_v we_o to_o consider_v the_o order_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v in_o save_v of_o we_o which_o be_v by_o hope_n and_o because_o hope_n be_v of_o thing_n not_o see_v or_o enjoy_v therefore_o we_o must_v not_o imagine_v so_o soon_o to_o enjoy_v all_o happiness_n as_o we_o believe_v it_o but_o be_v content_a to_o want_v all_o thing_n for_o a_o time_n that_o hope_v for_o they_o with_o patience_n and_o long_a suffering_n we_o may_v come_v to_o they_o at_o the_o last_o unless_o we_o will_v go_v about_o to_o pervert_v this_o most_o excellent_a order_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v determine_v and_o appoint_v to_o use_v in_o save_v we_o which_o be_v by_o train_v we_o up_o in_o the_o hope_n and_o expectation_n of_o all_o thing_n promise_v for_o a_o season_n v._o 24_o 25._o and_o because_o the_o hope_n that_o be_v defer_v be_v the_o faint_a of_o the_o bone_n &_o we_o may_v fear_v in_o respect_n of_o our_o own_o weakness_n and_o the_o greatness_n together_o with_o the_o continuance_n of_o affliction_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o with_o patience_n under_o the_o cross_n continue_v to_o hold_v out_o happy_o unto_o the_o end_n he_o further_o add_v for_o our_o singular_a comfort_n that_o the_o spirit_n which_o we_o have_v receive_v shall_v help_v to_o bear_v the_o burden_n with_o we_o and_o so_o though_o we_o be_v never_o so_o weak_a yet_o by_o the_o power_n of_o it_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o endure_v vers_fw-la 26._o so_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v all_o one_o with_o we_o as_o with_o the_o child_n upon_o who_o shoulder_n the_o father_n lay_v a_o heavy_a burden_n that_o be_v able_a to_o press_v he_o down_o do_v so_o put_v his_o hand_n under_o it_o that_o he_o bear_v the_o weight_n and_o burden_n of_o it_o himself_o and_o if_o the_o father_n will_v not_o overlade_v the_o child_n we_o need_v not_o to_o fear_v but_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v so_o increase_v our_o strength_n according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o our_o affliction_n that_o we_o shall_v find_v this_o promise_n to_o be_v true_a that_o his_o holy_a spirit_n shall_v help_v our_o infirmity_n for_o as_o a_o father_n have_v tender_a compassion_n of_o his_o child_n so_o have_v the_o lord_n tender_a compassion_n of_o we_o see_v he_o know_v whereof_o we_o be_v make_v and_o remember_v that_o we_o be_v but_o dust_n and_o that_o we_o flourish_v but_o as_o a_o flower_n of_o the_o field_n which_o thing_n as_o it_o be_v most_o comfortable_a to_o consider_v so_o we_o shall_v find_v it_o to_o be_v most_o true_a by_o experience_n because_o our_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n have_v pray_v unto_o his_o heavenly_a father_n for_o we_o that_o he_o may_v give_v we_o a_o comforter_n that_o may_v abide_v with_o we_o for_o ever_o even_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n as_o the_o bless_a apostle_n confess_v of_o himself_o 1._o corinth_n chap._n 4._o vers_fw-la 9_o saying_n we_o be_v afflict_v on_o every_o side_n yet_o be_v we_o not_o in_o distress_n in_o poverty_n but_o none_o overcome_v of_o poverty_n we_o be_v persecute_v but_o not_o forsake_v cast_v down_o but_o we_o penish_v not_o for_o as_o it_o be_v in_o another_o place_n his_o grace_n shall_v be_v sufficient_a for_o we_o for_o his_o power_n be_v make_v perfect_a through_o our_o weakness_n so_o that_o when_o we_o be_v weak_a then_o be_v we_o strong_a 2._o cor._n 12._o 9_o 10._o and_o thus_o we_o shall_v always_o find_v it_o to_o be_v most_o true_a that_o god_n be_v faithful_a which_o will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v tempt_v above_o that_o we_o be_v able_a but_o will_v even_o give_v the_o issue_n with_o the_o temptation_n that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o bear_v it_o 1._o corinth_n 10._o 13._o and_o if_o there_o be_v no_o scripture_n to_o prove_v it_o our_o own_o experience_n may_v tell_v we_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o for_o if_o we_o have_v observe_v any_o thing_n we_o may_v remember_v that_o many_o time_n we_o have_v be_v low_o bring_v and_o have_v sustain_v very_o heavy_a thing_n and_o think_v we_o shall_v never_o have_v be_v able_a to_o have_v bear_v they_o neither_o in_o deed_n shall_v we_o but_o that_o there_o be_v a_o other_o thing_n far_o above_o ourselves_o which_o make_v we_o endure_v and_o overcome_v those_o thing_n which_o we_o think_v we_o shall_v have_v faint_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o so_o that_o we_o may_v bold_o say_v with_o the_o holy_a apostle_n bless_a be_v god_n even_o the_o father_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n the_o father_n of_o mercy_n and_o god_n of_o all_o comfort_n which_o comfort_v we_o in_o all_o our_o tribulation_n that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o comfort_v they_o that_o be_v in_o any_o affliction_n with_o the_o comfort_n wherewith_o we_o ourselves_o be_v comfort_v of_o god_n for_o as_o the_o suffering_n of_o christ_n abound_v in_o we_o so_o our_o consolation_n abound_v through_o christ_n 2._o cor._n 1._o 3_o 4_o 5._o and_o this_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o worthy_a to_o be_v consider_v of_o we_o because_o he_o say_v that_o the_o spirit_n shall_v help_v we_o not_o in_o some_o few_o only_a but_o in_o all_o our_o infirmity_n whatsoever_o and_o there_o can_v be_v no_o weakness_n in_o
we_o so_o great_a or_o infirmity_n so_o many_o upon_o we_o which_o the_o spirit_n shall_v not_o strengthen_v even_o to_o the_o bear_n of_o the_o great_a cross_n that_o may_v be_v lay_v upon_o we_o frail_a man_n like_o unto_o we_o but_o that_o he_o have_v the_o spirit_n help_v he_o in_o his_o infirmity_n the_o truth_n of_o which_o may_v likewise_o appear_v in_o the_o great_a complaint_n of_o david_n job_n and_o the_o rest_n who_o though_o they_o do_v patient_o bear_v many_o great_a thing_n yet_o not_o without_o many_o infirmity_n for_o job_n sometime_o curse_v his_o day_n &_o david_n say_v unto_o god_n in_o his_o haste_n i_o be_o cast_v out_o of_o thy_o sight_n psal_n 31._o 22._o &_o therefore_o we_o be_v not_o to_o imagine_v of_o such_o a_o portion_n of_o god_n spirit_n that_o may_v swallow_v up_o all_o our_o infirmity_n for_o then_o we_o be_v no_o man_n but_o it_o must_v be_v sufficient_a that_o we_o be_v aid_v with_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o so_o that_o we_o final_o fall_v not_o down_o and_o lie_v still_o under_o the_o heavy_a burden_n of_o affliction_n but_o that_o there_o be_v a_o mix_a thing_n as_o it_o be_v in_o we_o namely_o our_o own_o infirmity_n to_o humble_v we_o &_o the_o strength_n of_o god_n spirit_n to_o enable_v we_o to_o bear_v so_o that_o have_v so_o able_a a_o helper_n to_o bear_v with_o we_o we_o may_v be_v comfort_v with_o hope_n of_o endure_v the_o great_a thing_n that_o may_v befall_v we_o in_o this_o world_n though_o continue_v upon_o we_o never_o so_o long_o and_o that_o we_o may_v do_v it_o the_o rather_o the_o apostle_n further_o add_v that_o the_o same_o spirit_n shall_v likewise_o stir_v we_o up_o in_o all_o necessity_n of_o we_o to_o pray_v unto_o god_n and_o to_o make_v our_o moan_n unto_o he_o as_o to_o our_o father_n and_o shall_v be_v hear_v of_o he_o for_o though_o we_o sometime_o through_o the_o greatness_n of_o our_o misery_n know_v not_o what_o or_o how_o to_o pray_v as_o we_o ought_v yet_o his_o spirit_n shall_v stir_v up_o even_o then_o though_o not_o many_o well_o order_v speech_n or_o word_n yet_o those_o sigh_n and_o groan_n which_o be_v unspeakable_a and_o only_o feel_v be_v notwithstanding_o well_o understand_v and_o accept_v of_o god_n because_o they_o proceed_v from_o his_o spirit_n who_o meaning_n he_o know_v and_o grant_v because_o it_o make_v request_n for_o the_o saint_n according_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n as_o it_o be_v ver_fw-la 26._o wherein_o we_o be_v notwithstanding_o to_o consider_v that_o though_o we_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n even_o the_o spirit_n that_o teach_v we_o to_o pray_v so_o that_o we_o have_v many_o time_n call_v upon_o god_n with_o great_a assurance_n and_o comfort_n for_o and_o with_o ourselves_o and_o other_o yet_o there_o may_v be_v a_o time_n and_o that_o very_a often_o wherein_o we_o may_v be_v so_o distract_v by_o some_o great_a affliction_n and_o in_o that_o case_n that_o be_v as_o it_o be_v astonish_v and_o overcome_v with_o the_o greatness_n and_o strangeness_n of_o it_o we_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o to_o pray_v and_o though_o prayer_n then_o be_v our_o only_a refuge_n yet_o we_o can_v not_o tell_v how_o to_o begin_v it_o or_o what_o to_o say_v and_o so_o unlike_a shall_v we_o be_v unto_o ourselves_o and_o that_o that_o we_o have_v be_v in_o time_n past_a as_o though_o we_o be_v not_o the_o same_o nay_o our_o estate_n may_v seem_v like_a unto_o the_o wicked_a who_o be_v at_o their_o wit_n end_n for_o if_o we_o be_v ask_v what_o we_o will_v have_v we_o can_v not_o tell_v and_o though_o we_o have_v liberty_n to_o ask_v of_o god_n we_o can_v not_o use_v it_o for_o we_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o to_o pray_v a_o wonderful_a thing_n but_o yet_o most_o true_a and_o that_o which_o be_v to_o be_v find_v not_o in_o some_o but_o in_o the_o most_o excellent_a servant_n of_o god_n even_o the_o apostle_n themselves_o as_o paul_n here_o bring_v in_o himself_o for_o a_o example_n and_o in_o this_o infirmity_n make_v himself_o like_a unto_o the_o rest_n and_o though_o we_o have_v a_o form_n of_o prayer_n prescribe_v we_o by_o our_o saviour_n christ_n yet_o we_o ask_v those_o thing_n many_o time_n which_o if_o we_o have_v they_o will_v hurt_v we_o and_o when_o we_o ask_v that_o which_o be_v profitable_a and_o good_a yet_o by_o prescribe_v to_o the_o lord_n the_o time_n manner_n and_o mean_n of_o our_o deliverance_n we_o pray_v with_o such_o impatience_n and_o distrust_n that_o it_o may_v true_o be_v say_v we_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o to_o pray_v as_o we_o ought_v this_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o good_a king_n hezekiah_n isa_n 38._o 14._o when_o he_o be_v oppress_v in_o the_o bitterness_n of_o his_o soul_n as_o he_o say_v &_o he_o chatter_v like_o a_o crane_n or_o a_o swallow_n and_o mourn_v as_o a_o dove_n such_o be_v the_o perplexity_n and_o more_o than_o infirmity_n of_o david_n when_o instead_o of_o pray_v he_o roar_v all_o the_o day_n long_o psal_n 32._o 3._o and_o when_o he_o mourn_v in_o his_o prayer_n and_o can_v but_o make_v a_o noise_n psal_n 55._o 2._o and_o when_o as_o he_o say_v for_o the_o voice_n of_o his_o groan_v his_o bone_n do_v cleave_v to_o his_o skin_n and_o that_o he_o be_v like_o a_o pelicane_n of_o the_o wilderness_n and_o like_o a_o owl_n of_o the_o desert_n and_o as_o a_o sparrow_n alone_o upon_o the_o house_n top_n psalm_n 102._o 5_o 6_o 7._o and_o when_o his_o heart_n pant_v and_o his_o strength_n fail_v he_o even_o the_o light_n of_o his_o eye_n he_o roar_v for_o the_o very_a grief_n of_o his_o heart_n and_o he_o pour_v out_o his_o whole_a desire_n before_o the_o lord_n by_o sob_v and_o sigh_v rather_o than_o by_o any_o thing_n else_o thus_o these_o most_o excellent_a servant_n of_o god_n in_o their_o great_a agony_n be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v able_a to_o pray_v unto_o god_n in_o any_o tolerable_a manner_n that_o in_o their_o own_o sense_n and_o feeling_n they_o do_v but_o roar_v and_o cry_v sob_n and_o sigh_v mourn_v and_o complain_v and_o that_o very_o confuse_o even_o like_o the_o crane_n the_o swallow_n &_o the_o owl_n so_o confuse_v be_v they_o in_o themselves_o and_o full_a of_o disorder_n and_o fall_v into_o so_o many_o great_a infirmity_n at_o once_o therefore_o we_o may_v not_o judge_v of_o ourselves_o or_o other_o by_o any_o one_o such_o or_o few_o particular_a case_n lest_o we_o deceive_v ourselves_o neither_o must_v we_o then_o in_o this_o great_a unfitnesse_n of_o we_o be_v like_a unto_o the_o wicked_a who_o give_v over_o all_o prayer_n because_o they_o be_v unfit_a for_o it_o but_o strive_v earnest_o against_o this_o infirmity_n of_o we_o and_o then_o pray_v unto_o god_n that_o we_o may_v pray_v which_o if_o we_o will_v do_v no_o doubt_n we_o shall_v find_v his_o promise_n to_o be_v true_a in_o this_o that_o even_o then_o his_o spirit_n shall_v teach_v we_o to_o pray_v for_o as_o our_o saviour_n christ_n comfort_v his_o disciple_n in_o another_o case_n matt._n 10._o 19_o 20._o that_o when_o they_o shall_v be_v bring_v before_o king_n they_o shall_v not_o take_v think_v what_o or_o how_o to_o speak_v for_o he_o will_v give_v they_o in_o that_o hour_n what_o to_o say_v because_o it_o be_v not_o they_o which_o shall_v speak_v but_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o father_n which_o speak_v in_o they_o even_o so_o we_o shall_v find_v when_o we_o be_v most_o unfit_a to_o pray_v if_o we_o will_v not_o yield_v to_o it_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o secret_a inward_a work_n whereby_o we_o shall_v be_v stir_v up_o to_o do_v something_o and_o there_o be_v a_o labour_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o a_o endeavour_n of_o the_o mind_n aspire_v unto_o that_o which_o we_o may_v seem_v not_o to_o attain_v unto_o and_o there_o shall_v be_v many_o sigh_n though_o few_o word_n many_o great_a desire_n though_o few_o voice_n yea_o there_o be_v
that_o which_o we_o can_v not_o great_o conceive_v of_o ourselves_o and_o every_o thing_n shall_v be_v unspeakable_a for_o no_o doubt_n those_o man_n that_o we_o speak_v of_o before_o even_o at_o those_o time_n when_o they_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o and_o how_o to_o pray_v as_o of_o themselves_o yet_o the_o spirit_n help_v they_o they_o do_v pray_v and_o there_o be_v at_o least_o unspeakable_a sigh_n and_o groan_v stir_v up_o in_o they_o for_o it_o be_v say_v of_o hezekiah_n that_o he_o then_o turn_v his_o face_n to_o the_o wall_n and_o pray_v to_o the_o lord_n and_o weep_v sore_o 2._o king_n 20._o 2_o 3._o and_o david_n when_o as_o in_o his_o own_o feel_n he_o do_v but_o roar_v and_o sigh_v even_o than_o he_o pour_v out_o &_o that_o very_o plentiful_o his_o whole_a that_o make_v they_o acceptable_a to_o he_o he_o begin_v the_o psalm_n thus_o o_o lord_n hear_v my_o prayer_n and_o let_v my_o cry_n come_v unto_o thou_o so_o it_o be_v say_v of_o the_o whole_a church_n of_o god_n in_o egypt_n exod_n 2._o 23._o 24._o that_o when_o for_o the_o extremity_n of_o their_o bondage_n they_o can_v not_o pray_v unto_o god_n yet_o they_o cry_v and_o sigh_v and_o mourn_v unto_o he_o this_o then_o be_v a_o most_o notable_a comfort_n in_o all_o affliction_n that_o believe_v in_o christ_n and_o partake_v of_o his_o spirit_n it_o shall_v help_v we_o in_o all_o of_o be_v hear_v for_o this_o be_v that_o which_o he_o add_v that_o the_o lord_n which_o search_v the_o heart_n know_v the_o meaning_n of_o his_o own_o spirit_n for_o it_o make_v request_n to_o he_o for_o the_o saint_n according_a to_o his_o will_n for_o by_o know_v he_o do_v not_o only_o mean_a that_o he_o understand_v it_o as_o he_o do_v all_o other_o thing_n but_o he_o accept_v and_o allow_v it_o and_o do_v most_o willing_o grant_v such_o request_n as_o though_o they_o be_v make_v in_o far_o better_a like_n to_o ourselves_o and_o so_o be_v the_o word_n take_v psalm_n 1._o 6._o the_o lord_n know_v the_o way_n of_o the_o righteous_a for_o he_o hear_v the_o cry_n of_o the_o israelite_n when_o they_o do_v but_o sigh_n &_o moan_n &_o deliver_v they_o from_o the_o bondage_n he_o hear_v hezekiah_n chatter_v in_o his_o prayer_n &_o raise_v he_o up_o from_o death_n &_o add_v 15._o year_n more_o to_o his_o life_n he_o hear_v david_n roar_v for_o the_o extremity_n of_o his_o pain_n and_o forgive_v the_o punishment_n of_o his_o sin_n and_o he_o have_v hear_v we_o many_o time_n in_o our_o great_a need_n when_o we_o have_v howl_v and_o cry_v rather_o than_o have_v make_v any_o settle_a and_o well_o order_v prayer_n yea_o when_o we_o have_v rather_o sigh_v then_o speak_v for_o the_o lord_n in_o this_o case_n regard_v not_o so_o much_o the_o multitude_n of_o word_n as_o he_o look_v to_o the_o meaning_n of_o his_o spirit_n and_o grant_v that_o though_o we_o speak_v never_o a_o word_n for_o even_o as_o a_o father_n have_v a_o young_a infant_n sick_a of_o some_o sore_a disease_n though_o the_o child_n can_v speak_v never_o a_o word_n be_v ready_a to_o help_v it_o and_o if_o it_o can_v speak_v yet_o be_v full_a of_o pain_n can_v not_o call_v for_o thing_n as_o it_o ought_v yet_o if_o the_o mother_n can_v but_o by_o any_o sign_n guess_v at_o the_o meaning_n of_o it_o she_o will_v accept_v as_o much_o of_o it_o as_o if_o it_o have_v speak_v very_o plentiful_o yea_o though_o it_o shall_v say_v one_o thing_n and_o mean_v another_o she_o will_v give_v it_o according_a to_o the_o meaning_n of_o it_o so_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o bowel_n of_o compassion_n towards_o we_o in_o christ_n far_o above_o any_o father_n or_o mother_n though_o he_o delight_v to_o hear_v we_o pray_v unto_o he_o yet_o when_o as_o by_o the_o extremity_n of_o our_o misery_n we_o be_v oppress_v or_o distract_v so_o that_o we_o can_v not_o in_o any_o orderly_a manner_n pray_v unto_o he_o as_o we_o ought_v he_o allow_v of_o the_o sigh_n and_o sob_n that_o we_o take_v that_o in_o good_a part_n what_o shall_v we_o then_o say_v to_o these_o thing_n be_v it_o true_a indeed_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v vouchsafe_v to_o look_v upon_o the_o low_a degree_n of_o his_o servant_n and_o have_v respect_n unto_o poor_a sinful_a creature_n who_o when_o they_o be_v in_o their_o just_a deserve_a misery_n and_o even_o then_o can_v pray_v unto_o he_o one_o word_n aright_o and_o when_o they_o begin_v to_o speak_v and_o their_o tongue_n cleave_v unto_o the_o roof_n of_o their_o mouth_n that_o he_o will_v then_o hear_v their_o sigh_n and_o their_o cry_n yea_o thereby_o to_o perform_v better_a service_n unto_o he_o what_o can_v be_v more_o comfortable_a unto_o we_o then_o this_o in_o all_o our_o necessity_n let_v we_o then_o with_o great_a boldness_n go_v unto_o the_o lord_n by_o christ_n and_o though_o we_o can_v utter_v many_o word_n yet_o 〈◊〉_d we_o speak_v unto_o he_o for_o sure_o the_o acceptation_n of_o our_o prayer_n consist_v not_o in_o the_o multitude_n or_o well_o place_v of_o our_o word_n but_o in_o the_o request_n of_o our_o heart_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o can_v pray_v but_o two_o word_n and_o say_v with_o the_o publican_n lord_n be_v merciful_a unto_o i_o a_o sinner_n with_o the_o apostle_n lord_n increase_v my_o faith_n or_o with_o the_o blind_a man_n o_o son_n of_o david_n have_v mercy_n upon_o i_o or_o with_o the_o thief_n on_o the_o cross_n lord_n remember_v i_o this_o short_a thing_n proceed_v from_o the_o spirit_n in_o we_o and_o offer_v up_o in_o the_o mediation_n of_o christ_n jesus_n and_o in_o the_o virtue_n of_o his_o prayer_n shall_v be_v as_o well_o receive_v of_o he_o when_o we_o can_v do_v no_o otherwise_o as_o if_o we_o have_v spend_v a_o whole_a hour_n in_o prayer_n and_o if_o we_o can_v not_o do_v this_o yet_o if_o we_o lift_v up_o our_o mind_n unto_o god_n as_o hannah_n do_v who_o speak_v never_o a_o word_n and_o as_o nehemiah_n do_v yea_o if_o we_o do_v but_o sigh_v after_o a_o unspeakable_a manner_n the_o lord_n will_v not_o refuse_v that_o verse_n 28._o also_o we_o know_v that_o all_o thing_n work_v together_o etc._n etc._n wherein_o the_o apostle_n proceed_v to_o comfort_v we_o in_o affliction_n minister_v this_o sovereign_a medicine_n against_o the_o contagion_n thereof_o namely_o that_o all_o affliction_n come_v to_o the_o believer_n not_o for_o their_o hurt_n but_o for_o their_o singular_a good_a see_v that_o they_o do_v befall_v they_o not_o
soon_o to_o profit_v under_o the_o cross_n that_o so_o it_o may_v be_v remoove_v and_o not_o so_o much_o to_o labour_v for_o the_o remove_n of_o it_o as_o for_o the_o fruit_n of_o it_o lest_o it_o go_v away_o without_o profit_n the_o lord_n bring_v upon_o we_o some_o great_a afterward_o see_v he_o be_v purpose_v thereby_o most_o assure_o to_o do_v we_o good_a moreover_o by_o this_o we_o know_v that_o whereas_o every_o man_n desire_v that_o which_o be_v best_a for_o he_o and_o yet_o most_o man_n err_v in_o the_o particular_n desire_v that_o which_o be_v most_o pleasant_a profitable_a honourable_a etc._n etc._n in_o this_o world_n that_o in_o deed_n be_v best_a for_o we_o at_o all_o time_n whatsoever_o it_o be_v which_o make_v most_o for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n in_o we_o our_o man_n even_o as_o when_o a_o man_n body_n be_v so_o distemper_a and_o some_o member_n so_o putrify_v than_o it_o be_v best_o for_o he_o to_o have_v his_o blood_n take_v away_o from_o he_o to_o be_v lance_v and_o sear_v yea_o to_o have_v a_o part_n cut_v off_o therefore_o when_o any_o affliction_n or_o calamity_n do_v befall_v we_o let_v we_o not_o be_v discontent_v therewith_o or_o be_v impatient_a but_o submit_v our_o judgement_n &_o will_n to_o the_o judgement_n and_o will_n of_o god_n let_v we_o quiet_o endure_v see_v the_o lord_n give_v we_o that_o not_o which_o we_o fond_o nature_n that_o we_o must_v needs_o have_v the_o feel_n of_o affliction_n unless_o our_o heart_n be_v hard_o like_o iron_n or_o brass_n and_o so_o we_o be_v stock_n and_o no_o man_n but_o see_v it_o be_v otherwise_o that_o our_o heart_n be_v soft_a and_o tender_a it_o can_v not_o be_v but_o that_o every_o thing_n shall_v work_v upon_o we_o and_o we_o be_v move_v according_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o to_o joy_n sorrow_n love_n hatred_n anger_n and_o fear_v and_o therefore_o tribulation_n must_v needs_o trouble_v we_o and_o affliction_n afflict_v and_o the_o cross_n crucify_v and_o yet_o we_o may_v be_v persuade_v that_o it_o be_v for_o our_o good_a and_o look_v for_o it_o from_o thence_o even_o as_o the_o sick_a patient_n can_v not_o as_o he_o be_v man_n but_o feel_v the_o lance_a and_o sear_v of_o his_o flesh_n and_o so_o complain_v of_o it_o with_o great_a grief_n yea_o cry_v out_o for_o the_o extremity_n of_o pain_n though_o he_o know_v it_o to_o be_v best_a for_o he_o then_o and_o therefore_o after_o a_o sort_n do_v most_o willing_o suffer_v it_o but_o many_o other_o be_v so_o full_a of_o complaint_n in_o their_o affliction_n because_o they_o be_v not_o persuade_v of_o turn_v all_o thing_n to_o our_o good_a moreover_o see_v that_o the_o apostle_n purpose_n be_v to_o entreat_v of_o patience_n in_o affliction_n this_o no_o doubt_n be_v most_o fit_a for_o the_o purpose_n namely_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o love_n which_o we_o ought_v to_o bear_v unto_o god_n for_o if_o that_o in_o worldly_a matter_n we_o will_v bear_v many_o great_a thing_n at_o the_o call_n and_o therefore_o when_o he_o have_v purpose_v to_o save_v they_o he_o call_v they_o in_o time_n to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o it_o and_o from_o thence_o it_o come_v that_o the_o word_n be_v effectual_a to_o they_o when_o it_o be_v unprofitable_a unto_o other_o so_o the_o lord_n continue_v the_o same_o purpose_n of_o he_o
