argue_v in_o some_o of_o my_o former_a book_n but_o i_o have_v sufficient_o see_v the_o weakness_n of_o that_o argument_n as_o well_o as_o other_o argument_n bring_v both_o by_o they_o and_o i_o against_o these_o divine_a institution_n but_o let_v it_o be_v consider_v how_o thing_n be_v say_v to_o be_v one_o in_o divers_a sense_n and_o acceptation_n god_n be_v one_o in_o the_o high_a sense_n yet_o this_o do_v not_o infer_v that_o there_o be_v no_o distinction_n of_o the_o father_n son_n and_o holy_a ghost_n in_o their_o relative_a property_n which_o be_v incommunicable_a and_o christ_n be_v one_o and_o yet_o this_o do_v not_o prove_v that_o christ_n have_v not_o two_o nature_n one_o of_o the_o godhead_n another_o of_o the_o manhood_n most_o glorious_o unite_v 3._o faith_n be_v one_o yet_o there_o be_v divers_a true_a signification_n of_o faith_n in_o scripture_n as_o 1._o the_o save_a faith_n 2._o the_o faith_n of_o miracle_n which_o every_o one_o have_v not_o who_o have_v the_o save_a faith_n 3._o i'faith_o objective_o take_v for_o the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n either_o as_o it_o be_v outward_o preach_v or_o profess_v as_o in_o rom._n 1.5_o gal._n 3.2_o act_n 24.24_o now_o if_o one_o shall_v argue_v because_o the_o scripture_n say_v there_o be_v one_o faith_n eph._n 4.5_o that_o consequent_o there_o be_v but_o one_o faith_n and_o that_o be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n outward_o preach_v and_o profess_v and_o consequent_o deny_v faith_n as_o it_o be_v a_o inward_a grace_n and_o virtue_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o true_a believer_n his_o argument_n will_v be_v false_a so_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n if_o another_o shall_v argue_v true_a save_a faith_n that_o be_v of_o absolute_a necessity_n to_o salvation_n be_v a_o inward_a grace_n or_o virtue_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o true_a believer_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o doctrine_n

by_o word_n or_o deed_n can_v appear_v to_o the_o contrary_a in_o a_o judgement_n of_o charity_n as_o to_o his_o four_o argument_n that_o baptism_n with_o water_n be_v john_n baptism_n i_o have_v above_o show_v that_o john_n water-baptism_n and_o the_o water-baptism_n command_v to_o and_o practise_v by_o the_o apostle_n after_o christ_n resurrection_n difler_v in_o many_o respect_n and_o though_o both_o require_v repentance_n as_o a_o condition_n in_o order_n to_o receive_v the_o water-baptism_n yet_o the_o late_a require_v faith_n in_o christ_n crucify_a and_o raise_v again_o as_o name_n of_o the_o father_n of_o the_o son_n and_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n who_o do_v baptise_v with_o water_n in_o those_o day_n of_o the_o apostle_n be_v as_o defective_a as_o his_o otherway_n of_o argue_v on_o this_o head_n but_o how_o do_v he_o prove_v that_o they_o use_v not_o this_o form_n why_o because_o in_o all_o these_o place_n where_o baptise_v with_o water_n be_v mention_v there_o be_v not_o a_o word_n of_o this_o form_n and_o in_o two_o place_n act_n 8.16_o and_o 19.5_o that_o it_o be_v say_v of_o some_o that_o they_o be_v baptise_a in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n but_o it_o ought_v to_o be_v consider_v that_o oft_o in_o the_o scripture_n what_o be_v not_o express_v be_v understand_v yea_o that_o very_a form_n express_v 8.16_o be_v comprehensive_a of_o the_o other_o and_o if_o no_o more_o be_v express_v by_o he_o that_o be_v the_o administrator_n if_o he_o be_v sound_a in_o the_o faith_n and_o that_o the_o person_n to_o be_v baptise_a have_v a_o sound_a faith_n that_o form_n be_v sufficient_a it_o be_v not_o express_v that_o the_o eunuch_n give_v any_o other_o confession_n of_o his_o faith_n before_o he_o be_v baptise_a but_o that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n but_o will_v it_o therefore_o follow_v that_o he_o believe_v no_o other_o article_n of_o the_o christian_a faith_n but_o that_o and_o confess_v no_o other_o in_o his_o further_a essay_n to_o defend_v his_o assertion_n that_o christ_n command_v the_o apostle_n to_o baptise_v with_o the_o spirit_n he_o say_v baptism_n with_o the_o spirit_n though_o not_o wrought_v without_o christ_n and_o his_o grace_n be_v instrumental_o do_v by_o man_n fit_v of_o god_n for_o that_o purpose_n and_o therefore_o no_o absurdity_n follow_v that_o baptism_n with_o the_o spirit_n shall_v be_v express_v as_o the_o action_n of_o the_o apostle_n for_o though_o it_o be_v christ_n by_o his_o grace_n that_o give_v spiritual_a gift_n yet_o the_o apostle_n rom._n 1.11_o speak_v of_o his_o impart_v to_o they_o spiritual_a gift_n and_o he_o tell_v the_o corinthian_n that_o he_o have_v beget_v they_o through_o the_o gospel_n 1_o cor._n 4.15_o to_o convert_v the_o heart_n be_v proper_o the_o work_n of_o christ_n and_o yet_o the_o scripture_n oftentimes_o ascribe_v it_o unto_o man_n as_o be_v the_o instrument_n and_o paul_n be_v commission_n be_v to_o turn_v man_n from_o darkness_n to_o light_n ans_fw-fr i_o acknowledge_v such_o like_a answer_n i_o have_v former_o give_v in_o some_o of_o my_o former_a book_n to_o the_o like_a objection_n but_o i_o be_o come_v to_o see_v the_o weakness_n to_o beget_v to_o convert_v to_o impart_v some_o spiritual_a gift_n etc._n etc._n let_v it_o be_v consider_v that_o baptism_n with_o the_o holy_a spirit_n be_v not_o only_o another_o thing_n than_o conversion_n or_o impart_v some_o spiritual_a gift_n etc._n etc._n that_o it_o be_v incomparable_o great_a for_o baptism_n with_o the_o spirit_n be_v equivalent_a to_o the_o mission_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o his_o inhabitation_n in_o believer_n and_o his_o be_v give_v to_o they_o all_o spiritual_a gift_n of_o faith_n conversion_n regeneration_n however_o so_o true_a and_o real_a be_v but_o work_v and_o effect_n of_o the_o spirit_n with_o who_o man_n may_v be_v say_v instrumental_o to_o work_v but_o the_o give_v the_o holy_a spirit_n to_o which_o baptism_n with_o the_o holy_a spirit_n be_v equivalent_a be_v of_o a_o high_a nature_n than_o any_o or_o all_o these_o spiritual_a gift_n differ_v as_o much_o as_o the_o giver_n differ_v from_o his_o gift_n for_o as_o to_o create_v be_v only_o proper_a to_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o redeem_v by_o way_n of_o ransom_n and_o satisfaction_n to_o divine_a justice_n be_v only_o proper_a to_o christ_n without_o any_o concurrence_n of_o man_n or_o angel_n so_o to_o baptise_v with_o the_o holy_a ghost_n or_o endue_v therewith_o or_o give_v or_o send_v the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v only_o proper_a to_o god_n or_o christ_n and_o not_o to_o man_n so_o much_o as_o instrumental_o there_o be_v no_o such_o phrase_n to_o be_v find_v in_o all_o the_o scripture_n as_o that_o any_o man_n do_v baptise_v with_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o any_o case_n or_o sense_n we_o ought_v not_o to_o allow_v such_o odd_a phrase_n so_o foreign_a to_o scripture_n otherwise_o the_o great_a absurdity_n may_v follow_v and_o a_o power_n of_o create_v and_o redeem_v may_v be_v give_v to_o man_n at_o this_o rate_n by_o add_v the_o word_n instrumental_o but_o as_o we_o be_v to_o allow_v no_o instrumental_a creator_n or_o redeemer_n so_o no_o instrumental_a giver_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n or_o baptizer_n with_o the_o same_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v god_n himself_o and_o it_o be_v too_o arrogant_a and_o wild_a to_o say_v that_o man_n who_o in_o respect_n of_o god_n be_v as_o worm_n can_v give_v their_o creator_n and_o maker_n the_o scripture_n indeed_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v give_v through_o the_o lay_n on_o of_o the_o apostle_n

a_o plain_a refutation_n of_o the_o same_o in_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o chapter_n or_o head_n wherein_o he_o discourse_v concern_v the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n although_o he_o say_v true_o that_o the_o communion_n i.e._n the_o participation_n thereof_o be_v inward_a and_o spiritual_a yet_o he_o be_v under_o a_o great_a mistake_n to_o affirm_v that_o the_o say_a body_n and_o second_o marriage_n with_o the_o same_o husband_n but_o though_o she_o need_v no_o second_o marriage_n yet_o that_o her_o husband_n give_v she_o some_o token_n and_o pledge_n of_o his_o favour_n and_o acceptance_n be_v very_o suitable_a and_o now_o see_v these_o external_a practice_n have_v so_o many_o necessary_a use_n in_o the_o church_n so_o that_o the_o church_n can_v in_o all_o respect_n be_v due_o constitute_v and_o have_v all_o thing_n in_o order_n without_o they_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o as_o long_o as_o the_o church_n be_v to_o continue_v on_o earth_n in_o its_o due_a constitution_n if_o it_o be_v say_v that_o though_o christ_n be_v inward_o come_v to_o some_o yet_o not_o to_o all_o in_o the_o apostle_n time_n so_o as_o to_o answer_v to_o the_o full_a extent_n of_o the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o his_o inward_a come_n it_o may_v be_v answer_v nor_o be_v he_o so_o come_v now_o for_o as_o christ_n say_v the_o poor_a you_o have_v always_o with_o you_o so_o until_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n there_o will_v be_v in_o the_o church_n babe_n and_o little_a child_n as_o well_o as_o young_a man_n and_o father_n and_o therefore_o on_o the_o account_n of_o such_o by_o r._n b.'s_n confession_n that_o be_v weak_a as_o some_o of_o the_o corinthian_n be_v that_o need_v those_o outward_a thing_n to_o put_v they_o in_o remembrance_n of_o christ_n death_n they_o be_v
