now_o see_v that_o it_o be_v far_o from_o truth_n which_o this_o author_n affirm_v viz._n that_o the_o apostle_n paul_n charge_v the_o whole_a mosaic-dispensation_n with_o the_o defect_n of_o have_v no_o promise_n of_o a_o future-life_n i_o have_v take_v liberty_n to_o speak_v large_o of_o these_o thing_n because_o i_o know_v of_o none_o that_o in_o my_o weak_a opinion_n do_v speak_v satisfactory_o or_o true_o of_o they_o and_o i_o have_v much_o confidence_n that_o none_o can_v give_v any_o true_a tolerable_a interpretation_n of_o such_o passage_n of_o the_o apostle_n use_v in_o more_o remote_a from_o vulgar_a apprehension_n he_o speak_v so_o little_a ex_fw-la professo_fw-la to_o declare_v what_o he_o mean_v by_o it_o second_o because_o i_o look_v upon_o this_o opinion_n maintain_v in_o the_o say_a letter_n as_o destructive_a to_o all_o true_a piety_n if_o practical_o hold_v for_o no_o man_n that_o hold_v such_o principle_n can_v serious_o with_o his_o heart_n pray_v common-prayer_n if_o any_o doubt_n of_o this_o let_v they_o but_o take_v the_o book_n and_o read_v such_o prayer_n and_o see_v if_o they_o can_v think_v the_o meaning_n of_o such_o prayer_n be_v that_o god_n will_v give_v they_o and_o other_o only_o that_o power_n to_o obey_v which_o he_o be_v bind_v in_o justice_n to_o give_v they_o whether_o they_o pray_v or_o pray_v not_o for_o it_o or_o can_v not_o condemn_v they_o for_o not_o obey_v as_o be_v apparent_a of_o that_o power_n without_o which_o man_n will_v be_v excusable_a three_o because_o those_o letter_n be_v common_o pretend_v to_o be_v unanswerable_a and_o they_o that_o be_v not_o competent_a judge_n may_v have_v this_o probable_a account_n to_o think_v so_o because_o there_o be_v no_o evidence_n that_o i_o know_v of_o of_o any_o reply_v make_v by_o his_o lordship_n nor_o intimation_n of_o his_o be_v unsatisfied_a with_o they_o when_o as_o doctor_n hammond_n high_o pretend_v his_o lordship_n concurrence_n with_o he_o for_o my_o part_n though_o i_o shall_v judge_v that_o his_o lordship_n have_v as_o himself_o confess_v not_o much_o study_v such_o thing_n have_v not_o very_o clear_a notion_n about_o these_o controversy_n if_o his_o word_n be_v set_v down_o to_o the_o best_a advantage_n by_o doctor_n hammond_n as_o appear_v by_o his_o grant_n that_o the_o effect_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n be_v something_o that_o if_o deny_v to_o man_n they_o will_v be_v excusable_a yet_o i_o think_v it_o almost_o as_o easy_a a_o matter_n to_o vindicate_v what_o he_o say_v in_o the_o main_n in_o the_o important_a point_n of_o special_a grace_n and_o unconditionate_n decree_v against_o doctor_n hammonds_n exception_n as_o to_o write_v so_o much_o paper_n and_o i_o can_v but_o high_o commend_v to_o consideration_n that_o sober_a sentiment_n of_o his_o lordship_n who_o confess_v his_o own_o disability_n to_o reconcile_v the_o consistency_n of_o grace_n and_o freewill_n in_o conversion_n and_o be_v sensible_a they_o must_v both_o be_v maintain_v tell_v we_o he_o ever_o hold_v and_o still_o do_v hold_v it_o the_o more_o pious_a and_o safe_a way_n to_o place_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o the_o throne_n where_o we_o think_v it_o shall_v stand_v and_o so_o to_o leave_v the_o will_n of_o man_n to_o shift_v for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o its_o own_o freedom_n as_o well_o as_o it_o can_v than_o to_o establish_v the_o power_n and_o liberty_n of_o freewill_n at_o the_o height_n and_o then_o to_o be_v at_o a_o loss_n how_o to_o maintain_v the_o power_n and_o efficacy_n of_o god_n grace_n though_o doctor_n hammond_n express_v his_o dislike_n of_o this_o say_v and_o that_o he_o think_v it_o no_o great_a difficulty_n to_o reconcile_v they_o but_o that_o this_o way_n of_o he_o do_v it_o satisfactory_o and_o be_v easy_a of_o conception_n and_o it_o be_v indeed_o too_o easy_a of_o all_o conscience_n to_o be_v the_o truth_n the_o result_n whereof_o be_v that_o god_n by_o his_o spirit_n and_o grace_n give_v only_o the_o power_n without_o which_o man_n enjoy_v the_o gospel_n will_v not_o be_v inexcusable_a which_o be_v indeed_o no_o other_o than_o the_o proper_a natural_a power_n of_o freewill_n whatever_o can_v be_v pretend_v to_o the_o contrary_a and_o though_o he_o have_v some_o expression_n that_o one_o unwary_a or_o not_o verse_v in_o such_o thing_n will_v think_v sound_v something_o more_o as_o grace_n be_v operative_a and_o move_a yet_o it_o be_v apparent_a he_o mean_v it_o no_o otherways_o move_v than_o by_o give_v this_o power_n of_o not_o resist_v the_o gospel_n without_o which_o man_n enjoy_v the_o gospel_n will_v be_v excusable_a in_o not_o ohey_v it_o which_o be_v give_v to_o all_o and_o to_o say_v otherwise_o will_v be_v to_o overthrow_v his_o whole_a fabric_n as_o will_v full_o appear_v to_o any_o one_o that_o will_v but_o read_v considerate_o and_o suppose_v those_o question_n put_v concern_v any_o such_o dubious_a
