and_o they_o will_v ground_v it_o from_o this_o that_o if_o the_o heart_n be_v stable_a and_o sound_a their_o attire_n of_o lay_v forth_o their_o hair_n will_v not_o be_v light_n and_o gaudy_a because_o that_o christ_n say_v out_o of_o the_o abundance_n of_o the_o heart_n the_o mouth_n speak_v mat._n 12._o 34._o that_o be_v whatsoever_o come_v forth_o out_o of_o the_o heart_n from_o man_n or_o woman_n either_o in_o word_n or_o action_n it_o do_v declare_v the_o heart_n to_o be_v more_o holy_a or_o less_o holy_a that_o be_v seem_v holy_a or_o real_a holy_a and_o this_o be_v that_o attire_n the_o better_a it_o will_v appear_v in_o these_o four_o particular_n first_o your_o outward_a adorn_v or_o lay_v forth_o the_o hair_n be_v a_o light_a attire_n for_o the_o prophet_n esay_n bring_v it_o in_o among_o the_o rabble_n of_o those_o particular_n which_o make_v up_o a_o light_a gesture_n as_o you_o may_v read_v esay_n 3._o 24._o second_o lay_v forth_o of_o the_o hair_n or_o any_o such_o like_a outward_a adorn_v it_o be_v a_o vain_a attire_n it_o be_v of_o no_o substantial_a use_n but_o to_o please_v the_o fancy_n it_o be_v so_o far_o from_o draw_v man_n to_o see_v god_n in_o you_o by_o it_o as_o it_o provoke_v they_o more_o to_o lust_n by_o see_v such_o wear_v it_o three_o it_o be_v a_o proud_a attire_n it_o be_v bring_v in_o among_o those_o particular_n of_o pride_n in_o the_o place_n we_o mention_v before_o esay_n 3._o 24._o as_o a_o judgement_n on_o those_o particular_o that_o have_v misuse_v their_o hair_n in_o these_o word_n instead_o of_o well_o set_v hair_n baldness_n as_o if_o the_o lord_n shall_v have_v speak_v by_o the_o prophet_n you_o that_o have_v abuse_v your_o hair_n by_o take_v more_o delight_n in_o it_o then_o in_o i_o i_o will_v take_v this_o idol_n out_o of_o your_o way_n and_o instead_o of_o well_o set_v hair_n place_n baldness_n four_o it_o be_v a_o unseemly_a attire_n not_o befit_v grave_n and_o holy_a woman_n and_o this_o will_v appear_v also_o to_o be_v a_o truth_n if_o we_o shall_v consider_v if_o it_o be_v unseemly_a for_o a_o woman_n for_o to_o go_v in_o man_n apparel_n how_o much_o more_o be_v it_o unseemly_a for_o grave_n and_o holy_a christian_a woman_n to_o go_v in_o strumpet_n attire_n and_o take_v you_o no_o exception_n at_o this_o kind_n of_o term_n for_o the_o apostle_n saint_n paul_n speak_v of_o the_o unseemlinesse_n of_o it_o especial_o in_o godly_a woman_n as_o you_o may_v read_v 1_o tim._n 2._o 9_o where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o woman_n adorn_v themselves_o in_o modest_a apparel_n with_o shamefacednesse_n and_o sobriety_n and_o he_o begin_v first_o with_o broider_a hair_n as_o if_o it_o be_v both_o a_o immodest_a and_o a_o bold_a and_o audacious_a attire_n and_o do_v you_o not_o think_v because_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o broider_a hair_n and_o i_o be_v against_o lay_v forth_o the_o hair_n that_o this_o be_v not_o to_o the_o purpose_n i_o suppose_v it_o be_v for_o it_o be_v that_o fashion_n of_o hair_n that_o those_o woman_n do_v use_v in_o they_o day_n as_o you_o know_v in_o every_o age_n fashion_n do_v alter_v and_o this_o your_o lay_v forth_o the_o hair_n though_o it_o be_v the_o fashion_n now_o come_v under_o that_o and_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v reprove_v it_o as_o the_o other_o if_o it_o have_v be_v wear_v in_o they_o day_n as_o a_o immodest_a attire_n very_o unseemly_o become_v holy_a gracious_a woman_n second_o if_o we_o do_v but_o consider_v those_o dangerous_a inconvenience_n which_o do_v attend_v this_o outward_a adorn_v of_o attire_n of_o hair_n it_o will_v appear_v unto_o you_o to_o be_v utter_o unlawful_a first_o in_o regard_n of_o themselves_o this_o outward_a adorn_v of_o attire_n of_o hair_n will_v prove_v very_o inconvenient_a because_o it_o be_v one_o of_o the_o great_a instrument_n that_o satan_n have_v to_o set_v pride_n on_o work_n we_o common_o say_v a_o peacock_n be_v a_o proud_a creature_n and_o our_o reason_n be_v not_o take_v from_o the_o turn_n of_o his_o head_n for_o so_o other_o creature_n do_v but_o from_o the_o variety_n of_o color_n of_o his_o feather_n which_o we_o suppose_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o turn_n of_o his_o head_n and_o hence_o come_v that_o old_a phrase_n to_o be_v as_o proud_a as_o a_o peacock_n and_o true_o such_o godly_a woman_n that_o go_v in_o such_o a_o gaudy_a attire_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o great_a instrument_n of_o stir_v up_o of_o pride_n in_o they_o because_o be_v be_v so_o near_o unto_o the_o eye_n and_o it_o will_v be_v most_o a_o end_n upon_o it_o second_o this_o attire_n of_o lay_v forth_o the_o hair_n it_o will_v be_v a_o dangerous_a inconvenience_n in_o regard_n of_o other_o two_o way_n either_o unto_o godly_a person_n or_o else_o unto_o wicked_a man_n first_o this_o kind_n of_o outward_a adorn_v will_v be_v a_o very_a inconvenient_a attire_n in_o regard_n of_o godly_a man_n and_o woman_n and_o because_o it_o will_v be_v one_o great_a cause_n of_o their_o judge_n of_o they_o to_o be_v seem_v holy_a when_o as_o it_o may_v be_v they_o may_v be_v real_o holy_a and_o so_o by_o this_o mean_v it_o may_v cause_v the_o love_n that_o shall_v be_v among_o the_o saint_n to_o be_v abate_v and_o instead_o of_o love_n to_o grow_v strange_a unto_o each_o other_o second_o this_o kind_n of_o outward_a adorn_v of_o lay_v forth_o the_o hair_n be_v a_o very_a inconvenient_a attire_n in_o regard_n of_o wicked_a man_n to_o because_o it_o will_v rather_o provoke_v they_o to_o lust_n by_o behold_v of_o such_o then_o by_o see_v any_o thing_n in_o that_o attire_n to_o draw_v they_o unto_o any_o good_a now_o have_v discover_v the_o unlawfulnesse_n of_o any_o outward_a adorn_v of_o attire_n of_o hair_n in_o all_o woman_n but_o especial_o among_o godly_a woman_n i_o now_o be_o come_v to_o answer_v these_o objection_n which_o be_v seem_o make_v for_o it_o the_o first_o objection_n be_v this_o oh_o but_o your_o ground_n work_n which_o you_o have_v build_v all_o this_o while_n upon_o be_v a_o rot_a foundation_n and_o not_o take_v in_o that_o sense_n which_o you_o understand_v it_o for_o to_o be_v for_o read_v you_o but_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o apostle_n in_o the_o place_n of_o peter_n 1.3.3_o and_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o his_o meaning_n be_v clean_o contrary_a in_o that_o he_o say_v let_v not_o your_o conversation_n lie_v in_o your_o outward_a adorn_v of_o plait_v the_o hair_n or_o of_o wear_v apparel_n but_o let_v it_o be_v in_o the_o hide_a man_n of_o the_o heart_n even_o the_o ornament_n of_o a_o quiet_a and_o meek_a spirit_n imply_v thus_o much_o not_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o lay_v our_o hair_n out_o but_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o
