be_v requisite_a to_o the_o strict_a observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n and_o therefore_o in_o equity_n the_o law_n of_o the_o sabbath_n ought_v to_o give_v place_n to_o the_o law_n of_o instruct_v the_o world_n in_o the_o way_n of_o happiness_n and_o not_o to_o have_v justle_v with_o it_o schol._n i_o conceive_v this_o argument_n but_o yet_o methinks_v there_o follow_v somewhat_o like_o a_o reason_n which_o i_o do_v not_o yet_o conceive_v in_o the_o next_o verse_n for_o the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v lord_n even_o of_o the_o sabbath_n pray_v show_v i_o what_o the_o meaning_n be_v of_o that_o master_n they_o that_o by_o the_o son_n of_o man_n here_o understand_v christ_n or_o the_o messiah_n do_v mistake_n for_o in_o that_o acceptation_n of_o the_o word_n the_o reason_n do_v not_o hold_v for_o if_o christ_n have_v mean_v only_o that_o he_o as_o the_o messiah_n be_v lord_n of_o the_o sabbath_n and_o so_o can_v abrogate_v it_o at_o his_o pleasure_n than_o what_o need_v all_o the_o three_o other_o argument_n that_o go_v before_o by_o the_o son_n of_o man_n therefore_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v every_o common_a ordinary_a man_n as_o appear_v most_o evident_o by_o that_o of_o st._n mark_n 2._o 27._o the_o sabbath_n be_v make_v for_o man_n and_o not_o man_n for_o the_o sabbath_n beside_o at_o this_o time_n christ_n neither_o have_v preach_v nor_o will_v have_v other_o to_o preach_v that_o he_o be_v the_o messiah_n and_o a_o good_a while_n after_o this_o as_o you_o may_v see_v in_o matth._n 16._o 20._o he_o charge_v that_o they_o shall_v tell_v it_o no_o man_n etc._n etc._n the_o sense_n therefore_o of_o the_o word_n be_v this_o that_o which_o be_v ordain_v for_o another_o thing_n aught_o to_o give_v place_n to_o that_o thing_n for_o which_o it_o be_v very_o short_o after_o as_o we_o shall_v see_v anon_o they_o have_v more_o deserve_o draw_v upon_o themselves_o the_o guilt_n of_o that_o innocent_a blood_n which_o afterward_o fall_v upon_o their_o head_n so_o that_o when_o christ_n charge_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o make_v he_o know_v he_o mean_v only_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o discover_v where_o he_o be_v that_o so_o with_o the_o more_o silence_n and_o less_o opposition_n he_o may_v do_v the_o business_n of_o his_o father_n and_o this_o sense_n be_v agreeable_a to_o that_o which_o follow_v out_o of_o the_o prophet_n isaiah_n in_o the_o 17_o 18_o 19_o 20_o and_o 21_o verse_n schol._n i_o take_v it_o to_o be_v so_o indeed_o but_o in_o these_o word_n out_o of_o isaiah_n there_o be_v somewhat_o which_o do_v much_o trouble_v i_o how_o to_o understand_v and_o that_o be_v the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o 20._o verse_n where_o it_o be_v say_v till_o he_o send_v forth_o judgement_n unto_o victory_n pray_v what_o do_v you_o take_v to_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o those_o word_n mast_n i_o shall_v run_v through_o the_o whole_a word_n of_o the_o prophet_n and_o by_o that_o you_o will_v better_o understand_v that_o part_n unlikely_a but_o anon_o you_o will_n this_o be_v indeed_o a_o three_o argument_n of_o christ_n and_o it_o touch_v to_o the_o quick_a for_o whereas_o his_o other_o two_o serve_v only_o to_o convince_v certain_a man_n this_o come_v to_o the_o very_a thing_n itself_o and_o quite_o overthrow_v it_o there_o have_v be_v say_v christ_n who_o have_v cast_v out_o devil_n through_o beelzebub_n it_o may_v be_v so_o but_o this_o have_v be_v without_o any_o harm_n or_o loss_n from_o the_o one_o unto_o the_o other_o it_o have_v not_o come_v to_o spoil_v of_o good_n to_o extirpate_v out_o of_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n any_o of_o their_o sin_n but_o rather_o to_o increase_v they_o this_o have_v be_v nothing_o but_o a_o mere_a collusion_n and_o cheat_n but_o when_o i_o cast_v out_o devil_n you_o may_v see_v i_o spoil_v they_o to_o the_o purpose_n i_o rob_v they_o of_o their_o power_n for_o i_o plant_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n such_o doctrine_n as_o will_v admit_v of_o no_o vice_n and_o wickedness_n to_o be_v near_o it_o wherein_o the_o power_n of_o the_o devil_n do_v consist_v and_o therefore_o you_o may_v well_o imagine_v that_o i_o be_o in_o good_a earnest_n for_o i_o bind_v he_o and_o spoil_v he_o which_o no_o one_o devil_n ever_o yet_o do_v unto_o another_o or_o ever_o will_n schol._n i_o shall_v desire_v to_o put_v you_o to_o no_o more_o trouble_n in_o this_o verse_n if_o follow_v upon_o what_o go_v before_o i_o see_v not_o what_o our_o saviour_n christ_n may_v intend_v by_o they_o mast_n have_v declare_v himself_o to_o be_v so_o far_o from_o cast_v out_o devil_n in_o the_o name_n of_o beelzebub_n that_o he_o labour_v to_o bind_v even_o beelzebub_n himself_o and_o to_o spoil_v he_o of_o all_o his_o power_n which_o he_o exercise_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o wicked_a man_n he_o carry_v the_o consideration_n of_o this_o enmity_n between_o the_o devil_n and_o himself_o to_o such_o a_o height_n as_o that_o he_o will_v not_o admit_v of_o any_o neutrality_n in_o any_o other_o man_n profess_v that_o whosoever_o be_v not_o the_o devil_n enemy_n be_v he_o according_a to_o that_o axiom_n of_o the_o war_n medii_fw-la habentur_fw-la pro_fw-la hostibus_fw-la all_o indifferent_a man_n be_v enemy_n and_o if_o all_o this_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o show_v how_o far_o he_o be_v from_o operate_n by_o the_o help_n of_o satan_n sure_o nothing_o can_v be_v and_o therefore_o have_v say_v this_o conceive_v he_o have_v say_v as_o much_o as_o man_n can_v say_v he_o add_v wherefore_o i_o say_v unto_o you_o vers_n 31._o that_o be_v see_v it_o be_v evident_a by_o these_o reason_n and_o argument_n that_o all_o the_o sign_n and_o miracle_n which_o i_o do_v i_o do_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o not_o by_o the_o help_n of_o the_o devil_n consider_v what_o a_o wretched_a punishment_n you_o draw_v upon_o yourselves_o that_o thus_o do_v slander_n and_o bely_v i_o this_o connexion_n st._n mark_n do_v teach_v we_o plain_o ch._n 3._o 30._o where_o he_o say_v because_o they_o say_v he_o have_v a_o unclean_a spirit_n and_o yet_o it_o be_v to_o be_v consider_v that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n proceed_v not_o mere_o upon_o the_o strength_n of_o his_o own_o argument_n but_o as_o know_v their_o thought_n as_o st._n matthew_n tell_v we_o in_o the_o 2d_o the_o verse_n of_o this_o chapter_n that_o be_v he_o see_v in_o unto_o they_o and_o he_o know_v that_o they_o very_o believe_v that_o the_o miracle_n which_o he_o wrought_v be_v wrought_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n but_o yet_o he_o see_v that_o they_o will_v rather_o invent_v any_o lie_n or_o asperse_v he_o with_o any_o slander_n though_o they_o know_v it_o well_o enough_o to_o be_v a_o lie_n and_o slander_n then_o to_o suffer_v the_o people_n to_o forsake_v their_o chair_n and_o to_o follow_v christ_n schol._n i_o thank_v you_o sir_n for_o this_o pain_n which_o you_o have_v take_v to_o prepare_v i_o for_o the_o understanding_n of_o my_o great_a doubt_n which_o now_o methinks_v i_o begin_v to_o have_v a_o little_a glimpse_n of_o but_o desire_v you_o to_o give_v i_o better_a light_n mast_n i_o shall_v but_o first_o i_o will_v glad_o know_v what_o you_o conceive_v of_o those_o word_n in_o the_o 31._o verse_n all_o manner_n of_o sin_n and_o blasphemy_n shall_v be_v forgive_v unto_o man_n because_o by_o understanding_n of_o what_o sin_n shall_v be_v forgive_v you_o will_v the_o more_o easy_o understand_v i_o when_o i_o tell_v you_o what_o manner_n of_o sin_n shall_v not_o schol._n why_o sir_n i_o understand_v any_o manner_n of_o sin_n whatsoever_o and_o i_o understand_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o be_v the_o only_a sin_n which_o shall_v never_o be_v forgive_v mast_n i_o do_v fear_n as_o much_o and_o therefore_o i_o do_v ask_v you_o but_o sin_n but_o of_o that_o sin_n which_o be_v blasphemy_n or_o calumny_n for_o there_o be_v many_o other_o sin_n which_o will_v never_o be_v forgive_v as_o well_o as_o the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o therefore_o in_o the_o next_o verse_n he_o say_v whosoever_o speak_v a_o word_n against_o the_o son_n of_o man_n that_o be_v whosoever_o slander_v or_o calumniate_v any_o other_o man_n it_o shall_v be_v forgive_v he_o and_o in_o those_o word_n he_o expound_v what_o he_o mean_v by_o sin_n and_o blasphemy_n second_o it_o be_v to_o be_v consider_v that_o when_o he_o say_v all_o manner_n of_o sin_n and_o blasphemy_n shall_v be_v forgive_v there_o be_v a_o hebraism_n in_o those_o word_n which_o be_v often_o meet_v withal_o in_o scripture_n as_o in_o the_o 5_o chap._n of_o st._n matthew_n heaven_n and_o earth_n shall_v pass_v away_o but_o my_o word_n shall_v not_o pass_v away_o that_o be_v heaven_n and_o earth_n shall_v soon_o pass_v away_o than_o my_o word_n shall_v pass_v away_o and_o so_o st._n luke_n read_v they_o not_o that_o heaven_n and_o earth_n shall_v ever_o pass_v away_o but_o that_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a they_o shall_v soon_o pass_v away_o than_o his_o word_n shall_v the_o meaning_n therefore_o of_o the_o word_n be_v only_o this_o all_o manner_n of_o calumny_n and_o slander_n be_v heavy_a sin_n and_o shall_v hardly_o be_v forgive_v to_o those_o that_o do_v commit_v they_o but_o they_o will_v be_v more_o easy_o forgive_v than_o that_o calumny_n which_o he_o know_v to_o be_v a_o calumny_n who_o do_v commit_v it_o and_o this_o christ_n call_v blaspheme_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o be_v the_o case_n of_o these_o pharisee_n who_o calumniate_v the_o miracle_n which_o our_o saviour_n wrought_v as_o proceed_v from_o the_o devil_n which_o their_o own_o conscience_n tell_v they_o issue_v from_o the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o god_n sch._n i_o confess_v sir_n this_o be_v very_o plain_a and_o easy_a and_o i_o pray_v proceed_v to_o the_o 33._o verse_n either_o make_v the_o tree_n good_a and_o his_o fruit_n good_a etc._n etc._n say_v christ_n the_o dependence_n of_o those_o word_n be_v this_o you_o say_v i_o work_v by_o the_o devil_n say_v christ_n but_o you_o do_v not_o see_v any_o other_o work_n of_o i_o beside_o this_o miracle_n which_o look_v like_o a_o work_n of_o the_o devil_n you_o see_v i_o go_v about_o do_v good_a i_o exhort_v people_n to_o repentance_n i_o show_v they_o the_o way_n to_o heaven_n these_o be_v no_o work_n which_o the_o devil_n use_v to_o do_v therefore_o either_o say_v that_o i_o do_v all_o this_o in_o the_o name_n of_o beelzebub_n too_o or_o else_o acknowledge_v that_o i_o do_v my_o miracle_n by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n for_o man_n judge_n of_o
