with_o you_o the_o gift_n of_o prayer_n whereas_o i_o say_v that_o without_o those_o pious_a motion_n and_o affection_n such_o a_o one_o have_v a_o good_a gift_n of_o prate_v as_o appear_v by_o pour_v out_o so_o many_o word_n but_o he_o have_v no_o good_a gift_n of_o pray_v for_o that_o be_v the_o pour_v out_o the_o heart_n and_o soul_n unto_o god_n but_o you_o say_v it_o be_v vulgar_o so_o style_v i_o hope_v sir_n you_o be_v not_o to_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o vulgar_a into_o their_o error_n and_o mistake_v but_o to_o lead_v they_o out_o of_o they_o but_o i_o see_v your_o notion_n be_v as_o vulgar_a as_o the_o person_n you_o converse_v with_o and_o there_o be_v no_o raise_v you_o a_o twirl_n above_o the_o vulgar_a where_o all_o your_o interest_n lie_v your_o next_o argument_n be_v more_o home_n for_o the_o word_n than_o this_o for_o therein_o you_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o word_n themselves_o whereby_o we_o express_v ourselves_o may_v be_v and_o be_v common_o term_v prayer_n which_o that_o may_v be_v teach_v all_o or_o most_o of_o those_o word_n you_o do_v not_o then_o think_v of_o that_o and_o therefore_o must_v think_v it_o over_o again_o but_o you_o have_v one_o argument_n that_o quite_o contradict_v and_o destroy_v all_o this_o again_o and_o that_o be_v to_o prove_v that_o a_o man_n may_v have_v the_o gift_n of_o prayer_n without_o the_o gift_n of_o speech_n utterance_n or_o elocution_n and_o so_o it_o can_v neither_o lie_v in_o the_o word_n nor_o in_o the_o ability_n neither_o the_o argument_n run_v thus_o if_o there_o be_v a_o great_a many_o who_o have_v a_o talon_n or_o gift_n of_o express_v desire_n to_o god_n in_o a_o suitable_a manner_n in_o pray_v that_o have_v not_o the_o gift_n of_o elocution_n applicable_a to_o other_o occasion_n then_o there_o be_v a_o difference_n between_o the_o gift_n of_o elocution_n and_o the_o gift_n of_o prayer_n and_o who_o doubt_v it_o do_v i_o not_o tell_v you_o before_o that_o it_o be_v your_o unhappiness_n not_o to_o distinguish_v and_o discern_v between_o they_o but_o the_o design_n of_o the_o argument_n be_v to_o show_v that_o you_o can_v and_o do_v distinguish_v between_o they_o and_o safe_a as_o in_o a_o church_n or_o castle_n for_o that_o be_v all_o that_o be_v necessary_a and_o essential_a to_o prayer_n but_o beside_o this_o there_o be_v a_o common_a gift_n which_o lie_v in_o word_n and_o expression_n and_o this_o be_v your_o gift_n of_o prayer_n though_o it_o may_v be_v do_v without_o it_o again_o you_o distinguish_v between_o the_o internal_a spiritual_a gift_n of_o prayer_n in_o which_o consist_v the_o life_n and_o spirit_n of_o it_o and_o this_o you_o place_n in_o the_o elevation_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o here_o you_o be_v right_a again_o if_o you_o will_v but_o rest_v
there_o but_o you_o must_v needs_o have_v a_o external_a verbal_a gift_n make_v up_o of_o new_a word_n and_o phrase_n to_o serve_v upon_o occasion_n and_o this_o again_o be_v your_o gift_n of_o prayer_n furthermore_o you_o distinguish_v between_o a_o acceptable_a way_n of_o pray_v with_o respect_n to_o god_n which_o be_v the_o right_a performance_n of_o this_o duty_n and_o this_o you_o very_o well_o place_n in_o the_o inward_a desire_n and_o elevation_n of_o the_o heart_n now_o the_o other_o member_n of_o this_o distinction_n must_v be_v a_o acceptable_a way_n of_o pray_v with_o heathen_n think_v he_o delight_v with_o the_o gift_n of_o much_o speak_v it_o be_v too_o evident_a sir_n by_o both_o your_o letter_n that_o you_o can_v yet_o discern_v between_o the_o gift_n of_o speech_n and_o the_o gift_n of_o prayer_n for_o you_o confound_v and_o take_v one_o for_o the_o other_o without_o know_v it_o as_o you_o may_v plain_o see_v by_o this_o argument_n the_o ability_n of_o speech_n which_o be_v the_o same_o with_o your_o ability_n of_o expression_n be_v to_o prove_v that_o they_o may_v pray_v without_o your_o gift_n of_o pray_v and_o likewise_o that_o they_o may_v speak_v very_o fluent_o without_o the_o gift_n of_o speech_n the_o absurdity_n whereof_o be_v gross_a enough_o to_o be_v feel_v again_o i_o find_v you_o argue_v that_o because_o that_o extraordinary_a gift_n of_o pray_v by_o inspiration_n which_o be_v peculiar_a to_o the_o apostle_n and_o appropriate_v whole_o to_o the_o matter_n and_o word_n of_o prayer_n be_v by_o st._n chrysostom_n and_o other_o
