outward_a act_n of_o they_o for_o whilst_o we_o indulge_v ourselves_o in_o these_o we_o feed_v our_o disease_n and_o pamper_v our_o bad_a inclination_n into_o vicious_a habit_n and_o our_o vicious_a habit_n into_o sinful_a necessity_n ii_o mortification_n consist_v in_o the_o dissent_n of_o our_o will_n from_o all_o sinful_a proposal_n

a_o more_o considerate_a view_n will_v be_v find_v to_o be_v most_o wretched_a cheat_n and_o imposture_n so_o that_o methinks_v be_v we_o but_o ingenious_a epicure_n that_o understand_v the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o true_a method_n of_o enjoy_v they_o we_o shall_v for_o their_o sake_n discard_v those_o lust_n that_o be_v so_o contrary_a and_o destructive_a to_o they_o and_o it_o will_v be_v as_o impossible_a for_o we_o not_o to_o hate_v our_o sin_n as_o not_o to_o love_v our_o pleasure_n and_o thus_o you_o see_v how_o many_o mischief_n and_o inconvenience_n our_o lust_n bring_v upon_o we_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o body_n and_o outward_a circumstance_n so_o that_o if_o we_o have_v no_o immortal_a spirit_n to_o take_v care_n of_o no_o interest_n beyond_o the_o grave_a to_o look_v after_o yet_o methinks_v have_v we_o but_o reason_n enough_o to_o understand_v and_o self-love_n enough_o to_o pursue_v our_o present_a welfare_n that_o be_v sufficient_a to_o oblige_v we_o to_o mortify_v our_o lusts._n for_o so_o long_o as_o they_o live_v they_o will_v be_v plague_n to_o we_o and_o we_o must_v never_o expect_v a_o quiet_a possession_n of_o our_o own_o happiness_n till_o we_o have_v utter_o destroy_v these_o mutinous_a disturber_n of_o it_o that_o be_v as_o so_o many_o thorn_n in_o our_o eye_n and_o goad_n in_o our_o side_n but_o alas_o it_o be_v not_o our_o bodily_a happiness_n only_o that_o they_o interrupt_v and_o invade_v but_o which_o be_v more_o intolerable_a they_o poison_v our_o soul_n with_o their_o contagious_a breath_n and_o scatter_v plague_n and_o infection_n over_o our_o noble_a faculty_n which_o bring_v i_o to_o the_o second_o sort_n of_o motive_n to_o persuade_v you_o to_o mortify_v your_o sin_n viz._n those_o that_o your_o understanding_n for_o sin_n be_v a_o affront_n to_o our_o understanding_n and_o a_o plain_a contradiction_n to_o the_o reason_n of_o our_o mind_n there_o be_v no_o vice_n whatsoever_o but_o
