only_o like_o grammar_n scholar_n have_v it_o by_o heart_n but_o like_o christ_n scholar_n have_v the_o feel_n and_o love_n of_o it_o in_o our_o heart_n not_o only_o by_o rote_n like_o child_n say_v it_o with_o our_o mouth_n but_o like_o god_n child_n practise_v it_o in_o our_o deed_n and_o herein_o good_a lord_n how_o small_o have_v we_o profit_v this_o xv_o year_n learn_v the_o practice_n of_o this_o lesson_n in_o christ_n school_n or_o if_o we_o have_v learn_v it_o how_o soon_o have_v we_o forget_v it_o or_o if_o we_o have_v both_o know_v it_o and_o thought_n upon_o it_o in_o what_o case_n and_o well_o order_v prayer_n yea_o when_o we_o have_v rather_o sigh_v then_o speak_v for_o the_o lord_n in_o this_o case_n regard_v not_o so_o much_o the_o multitude_n of_o word_n as_o he_o look_v to_o the_o meaning_n of_o his_o spirit_n and_o grant_v that_o though_o we_o speak_v never_o a_o word_n for_o even_o as_o a_o father_n have_v a_o young_a infant_n sick_a of_o some_o sore_a disease_n though_o the_o child_n can_v speak_v never_o a_o word_n be_v ready_a to_o help_v it_o and_o if_o it_o can_v speak_v yet_o be_v full_a of_o pain_n can_v not_o call_v for_o thing_n as_o it_o ought_v yet_o if_o the_o mother_n can_v but_o by_o any_o sign_n guess_v at_o the_o meaning_n of_o it_o she_o will_v accept_v as_o much_o of_o it_o as_o if_o it_o have_v speak_v very_o plentiful_o yea_o though_o it_o shall_v say_v one_o thing_n and_o mean_v another_o she_o will_v give_v it_o according_a to_o the_o meaning_n of_o it_o so_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o bowel_n of_o compassion_n towards_o we_o in_o christ_n far_o above_o any_o father_n or_o mother_n though_o he_o delight_v to_o hear_v we_o pray_v unto_o he_o yet_o when_o as_o by_o the_o extremity_n of_o our_o misery_n we_o be_v oppress_v or_o distract_v so_o that_o we_o can_v not_o in_o any_o orderly_a manner_n pray_v unto_o he_o as_o we_o ought_v he_o allow_v of_o the_o sigh_n and_o sob_n that_o we_o his_o servant_n and_o have_v respect_n unto_o poor_a sinful_a creature_n who_o when_o they_o be_v in_o their_o just_a deserve_a misery_n and_o even_o then_o can_v pray_v unto_o he_o one_o word_n a_o trouble_a spirit_n and_o can_v not_o be_v express_v for_o he_o allow_v of_o the_o meaning_n of_o his_o spirit_n which_o work_v those_o thing_n in_o they_o and_o if_o they_o can_v be_v willing_a thereby_o to_o perform_v better_a service_n unto_o he_o what_o can_v be_v more_o comfortable_a unto_o we_o then_o this_o in_o all_o our_o necessity_n let_v we_o then_o with_o great_a boldness_n go_v unto_o the_o lord_n by_o christ_n and_o though_o we_o can_v utter_v many_o word_n yet_o 〈◊〉_d we_o speak_v unto_o he_o for_o sure_o the_o acceptation_n of_o our_o prayer_n consist_v not_o in_o the_o multitude_n or_o well_o place_v of_o our_o word_n but_o in_o the_o request_n of_o our_o heart_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o can_v pray_v but_o two_o word_n and_o say_v with_o the_o publican_n lord_n worse_o with_o we_o though_o we_o imagine_v to_o the_o contrary_a for_o as_o if_o one_o in_o a_o burn_a fever_n shall_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o his_o fit_n ask_v cold_a water_n and_o his_o friend_n the_o physician_n shall_v in_o stead_n of_o that_o give_v he_o a_o wholesome_a medicine_n shall_v in_o deny_v that_o particular_a thing_n demand_v grant_v unto_o his_o general_a meaning_n which_o be_v therefore_o if_o the_o lord_n turn_v our_o cross_n to_o our_o good_a though_o we_o pray_v for_o the_o clean_o take_v away_o of_o they_o he_o fulfil_v both_o these_o promise_n at_o once_o thus_o when_o paul_n pray_v thrice_o that_o the_o messenger_n of_o satan_n may_v depart_v from_o he_o the_o lord_n in_o give_v he_o his_o grace_n that_o be_v sufficient_a for_o he_o &_o make_v his_o power_n know_v in_o the_o apostle_n weakness_n 2._o cor._n 12._o 8_o 9_o do_v both_o satisfy_v the_o meaning_n of_o his_o spirit_n &_o turn_v his_o cross_n unto_o his_o singular_a good_a but_o further_o touch_v this_o matter_n we_o be_v more_o general_o to_o understand_v that_o the_o apostle_n say_v not_o only_o that_o the_o cross_n shall_v turn_v to_o our_o good_a but_o that_o this_o be_v verify_v of_o all_o the_o cross_n that_o ever_o may_v come_v upon_o we_o be_v they_o never_o so_o strange_a as_o sickness_n poverty_n imprisonment_n banishment_n loss_n of_o husband_n wife_n child_n father_n &_o mother_n name_n or_o any_o thing_n else_o which_o be_v to_o be_v mark_v lest_o at_o any_o time_n we_o may_v be_v deceive_v to_o think_v if_o it_o be_v some_o other_o affliction_n we_o can_v have_v some_o good_a hope_n in_o it_o but_o this_o be_v so_o great_a it_o touch_v we_o so_o near_o that_o we_o can_v not_o possible_o see_v which_o way_n it_o shall_v bring_v any_o good_a unto_o us._n which_o as_o the_o devil_n be_v ready_a to_o persuade_v we_o and_o we_o too_o ready_a to_o yield_v unto_o his_o persuasion_n herein_o so_o that_o we_o may_v comfortable_o withstand_v it_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o this_o good_a come_v from_o affliction_n not_o as_o though_o it_o be_v natural_a and_o proper_a unto_o it_o for_o indeed_o it_o be_v otherwise_o that_o of_o itself_o it_o make_v man_n worse_o and_o drive_v they_o from_o god_n as_o the_o rod_n do_v the_o child_n from_o the_o mother_n and_o this_o satan_n aim_v at_o as_o in_o job_n when_o he_o say_v if_o the_o lord_n touch_v he_o he_o will_v curse_v he_o to_o the_o face_n and_o so_o he_o prevail_v with_o the_o wicked_a as_o with_o pharaoh_n but_o in_o the_o child_n of_o god_n his_o goodness_n overcom_v the_o devil_n malice_n and_o the_o venume_n of_o the_o cross_n be_v take_v away_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n whereby_o it_o be_v sanctify_v so_o that_o contrary_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o it_o work_v good_a the_o which_o that_o it_o may_v not_o seem_v strange_a much_o less_o unpossible_a to_o we_o we_o must_v remember_v that_o even_a man_n by_o their_o wisdom_n be_v able_a to_o make_v those_o thing_n serve_v for_o the_o benefit_n of_o man_n which_o of_o themselves_o will_v hurt_v he_o for_o if_o the_o physician_n through_o his_o skill_n can_v cure_v a_o man_n by_o take_v away_o his_o blood_n and_o humour_n by_o cut_v and_o sear_v his_o flesh_n which_o of_o themselves_o be_v hurtful_a if_o he_o can_v by_o art_n so_o temper_n that_o which_o be_v poison_n as_o the_o viper_n flesh_n remper_v it_o i_o say_v with_o other_o wholesome_a thing_n and_o correct_v it_o with_o those_o that_o be_v cordial_a that_o of_o it_o he_o will_v make_v a_o sovereign_a treacle_n even_o that_o which_o shall_v expel_v poison_n and_o so_o make_v that_o which_o can_v cause_v death_n to_o be_v a_o preserver_n of_o life_n shall_v not_o the_o lord_n by_o his_o infinite_a wisdom_n &_o almighty_a power_n the_o lord_n i_o say_v which_o bring_v light_n out_o of_o darkness_n &_o good_a out_o of_o evil_a &_o call_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o as_o though_o they_o be_v shall_v not_o he_o be_v much_o more_o able_a by_o the_o most_o grievous_a cross_n that_o can_v befall_v we_o work_v the_o great_a good_a for_o we_o that_o may_v be_v so_o that_o when_o we_o will_v hope_v for_o good_a by_o our_o affliction_n and_o so_o be_v comfort_v in_o they_o we_o be_v not_o so_o much_o to_o look_v to_o the_o thing_n themselves_o how_o they_o be_v like_a to_o work_v upon_o we_o as_o the_o promise_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v make_v unto_o we_o concern_v this_o matter_n and_o so_o to_o be_v sure_a that_o the_o lord_n himself_o will_v work_v our_o good_a thereby_o because_o he_o have_v say_v it_o this_o persuasion_n no_o doubt_n shall_v work_v in_o we_o great_a patience_n in_o all_o our_o affliction_n for_o how_o many_o grievous_a thing_n will_v the_o sick_a patient_n suffer_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o physician_n or_o chirurgeon_n by_o lance_a sear_a corsy_a etc._n etc._n when_o he_o be_v persuade_v that_o it_o will_v work_v his_o good_a but_o in_o deed_n here_o lie_v the_o point_n of_o the_o matter_n and_o this_o be_v all_o in_o all_o that_o the_o poor_a afflict_a soul_n know_v not_o that_o the_o lord_n by_o his_o affliction_n will_v work_v his_o good_a and_o therefore_o be_v he_o so_o unquiet_a and_o ever_o complain_v for_o give_v he_o this_o faith_n and_o the_o feel_n of_o it_o and_o lay_v upon_o he_o whatsoever_o you_o will_n therefore_o let_v we_o hearken_v to_o that_o which_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o howsoever_o we_o because_o of_o our_o ignorance_n be_v uncertain_a what_o will_v be_v the_o happy_a issue_n of_o all_o our_o affliction_n yet_o he_o know_v very_o well_o that_o that_o shall_v work_v together_o our_o good_a which_o he_o speak_v confident_o both_o as_o a_o teacher_n of_o the_o church_n a_o apostle_n and_o as_o a_o man_n of_o experience_n and_o therefore_o we_o ought_v to_o give_v credit_n unto_o he_o even_o as_o the_o patient_a do_v to_o the_o physician_n though_o
have_v receive_v any_o good_a grace_n we_o may_v be_v thankful_a to_o god_n for_o it_o if_o not_o we_o may_v labour_v for_o it_o thus_o speak_v the_o apostle_n peter_n 1._o epist_n 1._o 6_o 7._o now_o for_o a_o season_n if_o need_v require_v you_o be_v in_o heaviness_n through_o manifold_a tentation_n that_o the_o trial_n of_o your_o faith_n be_v much_o more_o precious_a than_o gold_n that_o perish_v though_o it_o be_v try_v with_o fire_n may_v be_v find_v unto_o your_o praise_n honour_n and_o glory_n at_o the_o appear_v of_o jesus_n christ_n where_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o if_o the_o end_n that_o all_o man_n may_v see_v they_o to_o be_v so_o precious_a as_o they_o be_v thus_o be_v abraham_n prove_v gen._n 22._o 1._o when_o the_o lord_n command_v he_o to_o offer_v up_o his_o only_a son_n isaak_n who_o he_o love_v which_o he_o willing_o obey_v and_o by_o faith_n offer_v he_o up_o hebr._n 11._o 17._o so_o that_o the_o lord_n say_v now_o it_o be_v know_v by_o good_a proof_n that_o he_o fear_v the_o lord_n when_o for_o his_o sake_n he_o have_v not_o spare_v his_o only_a son_n thus_o be_v it_o know_v who_o be_v they_o that_o have_v receive_v the_o seed_n of_o god_n word_n into_o good_a ground_n and_o who_o into_o stony_a ground_n even_o such_o as_o go_v away_o in_o tentation_n and_o so_o though_o they_o believe_v for_o a_o time_n yet_o then_o show_v that_o the_o word_n be_v not_o root_v in_o they_o luk._n 8._o 13._o and_o thus_o it_o be_v know_v who_o have_v build_v there_o house_n upon_o the_o rock_n and_o who_o upon_o the_o sand_n who_o have_v be_v only_a hearer_n of_o the_o word_n and_o who_o doer_n of_o the_o same_o even_o such_o as_o when_o the_o rain_n fall_v the_o flood_n come_v and_o the_o wind_n blow_v there_o house_n stand_v or_o fall_v that_o be_v they_o that_o in_o affliction_n and_o tentation_n continue_v the_o same_o that_o they_o be_v before_o or_o be_v unlike_a unto_o themselves_o to_o be_v short_a thus_o be_v the_o israelite_n try_v in_o the_o wilderness_n where_o it_o appear_v many_o way_n what_o be_v in_o every_o man_n where_o some_o be_v murmurer_n some_o fornicatour_n some_o idolatour_n some_o disobedient_a and_o some_o faithful_a and_o all_o this_o by_o the_o several_a affliction_n and_o cross_n that_o do_v befall_v they_o thus_o by_o the_o great_a affliction_n that_o come_v upon_o job_n at_o once_o appear_v what_o be_v in_o he_o when_o in_o all_o that_o he_o sin_v not_o with_o his_o mouth_n but_o say_v the_o lord_n give_v and_o the_o lord_n have_v take_v away_o bless_a be_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o thus_o last_o by_o trial_n appear_v the_o weakness_n of_o peter_n who_o though_o he_o have_v make_v so_o large_a a_o confession_n of_o his_o faith_n before_o yet_o at_o the_o voice_n of_o a_o maid_n when_o he_o see_v great_a danger_n swear_v and_o foresware_v with_o curse_v and_o ban_v deny_v christ_n even_o that_o he_o never_o know_v the_o man_n therefore_o if_o it_o be_v good_a for_o we_o not_o to_o be_v ignorant_a of_o ourselves_o and_o so_o not_o to_o be_v deceive_v with_o a_o overween_a of_o ourselves_o if_o it_o be_v good_a for_o any_o man_n to_o see_v his_o want_n and_o weakness_n that_o he_o may_v be_v humble_v and_o seek_v to_o have_v they_o heal_v if_o it_o be_v good_a to_o know_v certain_o that_o we_o have_v receive_v such_o and_o such_o grace_n even_o in_o that_o measure_n that_o we_o have_v that_o we_o may_v be_v thankful_a to_o god_n and_o comfort_v in_o ourselves_o then_o see_v that_o affliction_n and_o the_o cross_n bring_v forth_o all_o this_o at_o once_o and_o by_o trial_n we_o find_v what_o faith_n hope_n love_n patience_n obedience_n etc._n etc._n be_v in_o we_o and_o what_o not_o that_o whatsoever_o we_o seem_v to_o be_v before_o to_o ourselves_o and_o other_o yet_o now_o we_o know_v certain_o that_o we_o be_v thus_o and_o thus_o it_o can_v not_o be_v deny_v but_o that_o affliction_n work_v much_o good_a unto_o we_o and_o we_o ought_v to_o say_v with_o the_o apostle_n that_o we_o know_v it_o to_o be_v so_o which_o we_o may_v much_o more_o confident_o when_o we_o shall_v see_v omit_v to_o speak_v of_o many_o more_o use_n that_o the_o cross_n have_v that_o last_o and_o great_a of_o all_o that_o be_v speak_v of_o vers_n 29._o hitherto_o we_o have_v see_v that_o there_o be_v great_a use_n of_o affliction_n and_o that_o it_o work_v much_o good_a and_o that_o in_o every_o cross_n beside_o the_o present_a bear_n of_o it_o the_o lord_n offer_v great_a commodity_n unto_o we_o and_o work_v it_o in_o we_o thereby_o so_o that_o as_o in_o all_o other_o thing_n there_o be_v the_o present_a possession_n of_o they_o and_o the_o use_n of_o they_o in_o so_o much_o that_o many_o have_v great_a good_n and_o yet_o not_o know_v how_o to_o use_v they_o so_o many_o have_v great_a and_o long_a cross_n upon_o they_o yet_o labour_v not_o after_o the_o fruit_n of_o they_o thus_o see_v affliction_n be_v common_a to_o the_o good_a and_o the_o bad_a and_o both_o do_v bear_v they_o whether_o they_o will_v or_o no_o yet_o the_o one_o must_v labour_v for_o the_o good_a which_o the_o lord_n offer_v to_o they_o thereby_o which_o the_o other_o not_o once_o so_o much_o as_o look_v after_o which_o no_o doubt_n when_o god_n child_n be_v some_o thing_n careless_a in_o than_o he_o continue_v his_o rod_n upon_o they_o nay_o increase_v they_o because_o his_o purpose_n be_v to_o do_v they_o good_a and_o so_o herein_o deal_v with_o they_o as_o a_o father_n even_o as_o he_o be_v who_o spare_v not_o the_o rod_n till_o his_o child_n be_v thereby_o humble_v to_o the_o confession_n and_o amendment_n of_o his_o fault_n because_o his_o purpose_n be_v to_o do_v he_o good_a when_o as_o notwithstanding_o he_o let_v his_o servant_n go_v when_o he_o see_v that_o he_o will_v not_o profit_v by_o word_n or_o a_o few_o stripe_n as_o not_o care_v for_o he_o so_o the_o lord_n when_o he_o spare_v the_o wicked_a in_o their_o sin_n and_o reserve_v they_o to_o further_a judgement_n correct_v his_o own_o child_n again_o and_o again_o show_v that_o his_o purpose_n be_v to_o do_v they_o good_a therefore_o let_v no_o man_n in_o the_o continuance_n of_o affliction_n be_v too_o much_o discourage_v as_o though_o the_o lord_n be_v continual_o angry_a with_o he_o or_o have_v a_o purpose_n to_o destroy_v he_o thereby_o which_o he_o can_v do_v in_o a_o moment_n at_o once_o but_o let_v he_o thus_o reason_n with_o himself_o out_o of_o the_o word_n now_o i_o know_v assure_o that_o the_o lord_n love_v i_o in_o deed_n because_o he_o purpose_v to_o do_v i_o good_a by_o all_o thing_n even_o by_o affliction_n and_o therefore_o whereas_o i_o through_o the_o untowardnes_n of_o my_o nature_n have_v not_o profit_v sufficient_o by_o his_o former_a chastisement_n he_o send_v a_o new_a fatherly_a correction_n thereby_o to_o work_v my_o further_a good_a and_o whereas_o i_o through_o my_o crookedness_n and_o stubbornness_n do_v not_o yet_o profit_v by_o they_o as_o he_o will_v have_v i_o therefore_o i_o see_v that_o in_o much_o mercy_n he_o continue_v it_o that_o so_o i_o may_v get_v good_a by_o it_o at_o the_o last_o and_o herein_o the_o lord_n deal_v like_o a_o wise_a &_o careful_a physician_n who_o purpose_v not_o so_o much_o to_o give_v physic_n unto_o the_o sick_a patient_n as_o to_o cure_v he_o thereby_o if_o the_o first_o medicine_n will_v do_v it_o there_o he_o leave_v they_o if_o not_o he_o apply_v one_o medicine_n after_o a_o other_o because_o he_o have_v a_o diligent_a care_n of_o he_o and_o if_o at_o any_o time_n he_o make_v any_o intermission_n it_o be_v because_o of_o the_o patient_n weakness_n who_o he_o will_v by_o that_o mean_n to_o gather_v some_o strength_n not_o that_o he_o mean_v to_o leave_v he_o so_o the_o lord_n purpose_v according_a to_o his_o word_n by_o affliction_n to_o do_v we_o good_a when_o by_o the_o first_o cross_n we_o profit_v not_o as_o we_o ought_v then_o either_o he_o let_v it_o lie_v the_o long_o upon_o we_o or_o remove_v it_o send_v a_o other_o in_o stead_n of_o it_o though_o not_o present_o because_o we_o can_v not_o bear_v it_o yet_o afterwards_o when_o it_o seem_v best_a unto_o he_o therefore_o the_o best_a thing_n for_o every_o man_n be_v
some_o part_n of_o this_o recompense_n for_o their_o sin_n for_o the_o bless_a word_n of_o god_n which_o set_v forth_o unto_o we_o jesus_n christ_n a_o full_a ransom_n of_o our_o sin_n do_v also_o give_v we_o to_o understand_v that_o none_o be_v benefit_v to_o salvation_n save_v only_o those_o which_o do_v believe_v so_o god_n love_v the_o world_n 18._o that_o he_o give_v his_o only_a beget_v seek_v out_o that_o true_a &_o sound_a faith_n of_o god_n people_n lest_o we_o flatter_v our_o self_n &_o think_v we_o believe_v well_o enough_o when_o we_o have_v no_o other_o belief_n than_o the_o very_a devil_n in_o hell_n have_v we_o must_v be_v therefore_o very_o careful_a to_o know_v in_o what_o point_v the_o devil_n faith_n do_v differ_v from_o the_o sound_a faith_n of_o god_n people_n first_o of_o all_o the_o devil_n although_o they_o believe_v that_o all_o that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v be_v true_o do_v yet_o they_o do_v not_o believe_v that_o he_o do_v it_o for_o they_o although_o they_o can_v acknowledge_v &_o confess_v all_o the_o article_n of_o our_o faith_n yet_o they_o can_v not_o apply_v they_o unto_o themselves_o although_o they_o can_v believe_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v god_n &_o soon_o of_o god_n &_o have_v pay_v the_o punishment_n of_o man_n sin_n yet_o they_o can_v not_o believe_v that_o he_o have_v do_v this_o for_o they_o they_o can_v not_o believe_v that_o he_o have_v pay_v the_o punishment_n for_o their_o sin_n they_o can_v not_o believe_v that_o for_o they_o have_v not_o assurance_n thereof_o out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n nay_o they_o know_v the_o clean_a contrary_n 16._o that_o christ_n come_v not_o to_o save_v they_o for_o the_o apostle_n to_o the_o hebrew_n write_v that_o christ_n take_v not_o upon_o he_o the_o nature_n of_o spirit_n so_o far_o from_o keep_v we_o from_o salvation_n as_o that_o in_o they_o we_o have_v christ_n jesus_n that_o go_v before_o in_o all_o affliction_n further_o than_o we_o can_v and_o yet_o at_o the_o last_o come_v unto_o glory_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o patient_o abide_v as_o we_o have_v not_o only_o the_o prophet_n apostle_n and_o martyr_n but_o christ_n himself_o to_o be_v our_o fellow_n in_o they_o so_o we_o shall_v be_v fellow_n with_o he_o and_o like_a unto_o he_o in_o glory_n and_o lest_o that_o it_o may_v seem_v grievous_a unto_o we_o to_o go_v to_o so_o happy_a a_o estate_n through_o so_o grievous_a a_o way_n and_o so_o may_v think_v that_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n though_o it_o be_v so_o precious_a we_o shall_v buy_v it_o too_o dear_a he_o tell_v we_o assure_o that_o by_o cast_v the_o account_n he_o have_v find_v it_o to_o be_v most_o true_a that_o all_o the_o affliction_n in_o this_o miserable_a and_o wretched_a world_n be_v not_o to_o be_v compare_v in_o greatness_n or_o continuance_n unto_o the_o glory_n that_o shall_v be_v reveal_v we_o vers_fw-la 18._o which_o as_o it_o be_v thus_o great_a so_o it_o be_v most_o sure_a and_o certain_a and_o therefore_o we_o need_v not_o in_o no_o wise_a to_o doubt_v of_o it_o for_o the_o very_a creature_n themselves_o have_v a_o certain_a sense_n and_o feel_n of_o it_o which_o but_o for_o a_o time_n be_v subject_a to_o this_o vanity_n that_o be_v corruption_n and_o abuse_n which_o they_o be_v and_o by_o the_o instinct_n of_o nature_n do_v most_o earnest_o and_o as_o it_o be_v with_o their_o head_n lift_v up_o look_v for_o the_o reveal_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n that_o they_o may_v be_v redeem_v from_o bondage_n into_o their_o glorious_a liberty_n and_o shall_v not_o be_v disappoint_v of_o their_o hope_n therefore_o much_o more_o we_o that_o have_v receive_v the_o first_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n shall_v with_o great_a patience_n in_o trouble_n abide_v the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o with_o more_o certainty_n and_o earnest_a desire_n look_v for_o a_o happy_a chance_n of_o all_o our_o affliction_n in_o that_o most_o glorious_a day_n v._o 20_o 21_o 22_o 23._o the_o which_o condition_n though_o grievous_a for_o a_o time_n but_o happy_a in_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v not_o refuse_v to_o undergo_v with_o the_o rest_n of_o he_o creature_n and_o our_o brethren_n he_o will_v we_o to_o consider_v the_o order_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v in_o save_v of_o we_o which_o be_v by_o hope_n and_o because_o hope_n be_v of_o thing_n not_o see_v or_o enjoy_v therefore_o we_o must_v not_o imagine_v so_o soon_o to_o enjoy_v all_o happiness_n as_o we_o believe_v it_o but_o be_v content_a to_o want_v all_o thing_n for_o a_o time_n that_o hope_v for_o they_o with_o patience_n and_o long_a suffering_n we_o may_v come_v to_o they_o at_o the_o last_o unless_o we_o will_v go_v about_o to_o pervert_v this_o most_o excellent_a order_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v determine_v and_o appoint_v to_o use_v in_o save_v we_o which_o be_v by_o train_v we_o up_o in_o the_o hope_n and_o expectation_n of_o all_o thing_n promise_v for_o a_o season_n v._o 24_o 25._o and_o because_o the_o hope_n that_o be_v defer_v be_v the_o faint_a of_o the_o bone_n &_o we_o may_v fear_v in_o respect_n of_o our_o own_o weakness_n and_o the_o greatness_n together_o with_o the_o continuance_n of_o affliction_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o with_o patience_n under_o the_o cross_n continue_v to_o hold_v out_o happy_o unto_o the_o end_n he_o further_o add_v for_o our_o singular_a comfort_n that_o the_o spirit_n which_o we_o have_v receive_v shall_v help_v to_o bear_v the_o burden_n with_o we_o and_o so_o though_o we_o be_v never_o so_o weak_a yet_o by_o the_o power_n of_o it_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o endure_v vers_fw-la 26._o so_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v all_o one_o with_o we_o as_o with_o the_o child_n upon_o who_o shoulder_n the_o father_n lay_v a_o heavy_a burden_n that_o be_v able_a to_o press_v he_o down_o do_v so_o put_v his_o hand_n under_o it_o that_o he_o bear_v the_o weight_n and_o burden_n of_o it_o himself_o and_o if_o the_o father_n will_v not_o overlade_v the_o child_n we_o need_v not_o to_o fear_v but_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v so_o increase_v our_o strength_n according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o our_o affliction_n that_o we_o shall_v find_v this_o promise_n to_o be_v true_a that_o his_o holy_a spirit_n shall_v help_v our_o infirmity_n for_o as_o a_o father_n have_v tender_a compassion_n of_o his_o child_n so_o have_v the_o lord_n tender_a compassion_n of_o we_o see_v he_o know_v whereof_o we_o be_v make_v and_o remember_v that_o we_o be_v but_o dust_n and_o that_o we_o flourish_v but_o as_o a_o flower_n of_o the_o field_n which_o thing_n as_o it_o be_v most_o comfortable_a to_o consider_v so_o we_o shall_v find_v it_o to_o be_v most_o true_a by_o experience_n because_o our_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n have_v pray_v unto_o his_o heavenly_a father_n for_o we_o that_o he_o may_v give_v we_o a_o comforter_n that_o may_v abide_v with_o we_o for_o ever_o even_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n as_o the_o bless_a apostle_n confess_v of_o himself_o 1._o corinth_n chap._n 4._o vers_fw-la 9_o saying_n we_o be_v afflict_v on_o every_o side_n yet_o be_v we_o not_o in_o distress_n in_o poverty_n but_o none_o overcome_v of_o poverty_n we_o be_v persecute_v but_o not_o forsake_v cast_v down_o but_o we_o penish_v not_o for_o as_o it_o be_v in_o another_o place_n his_o grace_n shall_v be_v sufficient_a for_o we_o for_o his_o power_n be_v make_v perfect_a through_o our_o weakness_n so_o that_o when_o we_o be_v weak_a then_o be_v we_o strong_a 2._o cor._n 12._o 9_o 10._o and_o thus_o we_o shall_v always_o find_v it_o to_o be_v most_o true_a that_o god_n be_v faithful_a which_o will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v tempt_v above_o that_o we_o be_v able_a but_o will_v even_o give_v the_o issue_n with_o the_o temptation_n that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o bear_v it_o 1._o corinth_n 10._o 13._o and_o if_o there_o be_v no_o scripture_n to_o prove_v it_o our_o own_o experience_n may_v tell_v we_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o for_o if_o we_o have_v observe_v any_o thing_n we_o may_v remember_v that_o many_o time_n we_o have_v be_v low_o bring_v and_o have_v sustain_v very_o heavy_a thing_n and_o think_v we_o shall_v never_o have_v be_v able_a to_o have_v bear_v they_o neither_o in_o deed_n shall_v we_o but_o that_o there_o be_v a_o other_o thing_n far_o above_o ourselves_o which_o make_v we_o endure_v and_o overcome_v those_o thing_n which_o we_o think_v we_o shall_v have_v faint_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o so_o that_o we_o may_v bold_o say_v with_o the_o holy_a apostle_n bless_a be_v god_n even_o the_o father_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n the_o father_n of_o mercy_n and_o god_n of_o all_o comfort_n which_o comfort_v we_o in_o all_o our_o tribulation_n that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o comfort_v they_o that_o be_v in_o any_o affliction_n with_o the_o comfort_n wherewith_o we_o ourselves_o be_v comfort_v of_o god_n for_o as_o the_o suffering_n of_o christ_n abound_v in_o we_o so_o our_o consolation_n abound_v through_o christ_n 2._o cor._n 1._o 3_o 4_o 5._o and_o this_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o worthy_a to_o be_v consider_v of_o we_o because_o he_o say_v that_o the_o spirit_n shall_v help_v we_o not_o in_o some_o few_o only_a but_o in_o all_o our_o infirmity_n whatsoever_o and_o there_o can_v be_v no_o weakness_n in_o
we_o so_o great_a or_o infirmity_n so_o many_o upon_o we_o which_o the_o spirit_n shall_v not_o strengthen_v even_o to_o the_o bear_n of_o the_o great_a cross_n that_o may_v be_v lay_v upon_o we_o as_o we_o hear_v the_o apostle_n say_v before_o that_o god_n do_v comfort_v he_o in_o all_o his_o tribulation_n and_o that_o his_o consolation_n do_v abound_v even_o as_o his_o suffering_n do_v abound_v in_o the_o mean_a season_n he_o give_v we_o to_o understand_v that_o the_o affliction_n of_o the_o godly_a be_v so_o great_a that_o they_o far_o pass_v any_o strength_n that_o be_v in_o we_o to_o bear_v they_o yea_o that_o we_o be_v very_o weak_a of_o ourselves_o and_o subject_a to_o many_o infirmity_n though_o we_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o it_o do_v not_o rid_v we_o of_o they_o nay_o the_o very_a apostle_n and_o paul_n himself_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o have_v undergo_v so_o many_o and_o great_a thing_n as_o he_o do_v be_v a_o frail_a man_n like_o unto_o we_o but_o that_o he_o have_v the_o spirit_n help_v he_o in_o his_o infirmity_n the_o truth_n of_o which_o may_v likewise_o appear_v in_o the_o great_a complaint_n of_o david_n job_n and_o the_o rest_n who_o though_o they_o do_v patient_o bear_v many_o great_a thing_n yet_o not_o without_o many_o infirmity_n for_o job_n sometime_o curse_v his_o day_n &_o david_n say_v unto_o god_n in_o his_o haste_n i_o be_o cast_v out_o of_o thy_o sight_n psal_n 31._o 22._o &_o therefore_o we_o be_v not_o to_o imagine_v of_o such_o a_o portion_n of_o god_n spirit_n that_o may_v swallow_v up_o all_o our_o infirmity_n for_o then_o we_o be_v no_o man_n but_o it_o must_v be_v sufficient_a that_o we_o be_v aid_v with_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o so_o that_o we_o final_o fall_v not_o down_o and_o lie_v still_o under_o the_o heavy_a burden_n of_o affliction_n but_o that_o there_o be_v a_o mix_a thing_n as_o it_o be_v in_o we_o namely_o our_o own_o infirmity_n to_o humble_v we_o &_o the_o strength_n of_o god_n spirit_n to_o enable_v we_o to_o bear_v so_o that_o have_v so_o able_a a_o helper_n to_o bear_v with_o we_o we_o may_v be_v comfort_v with_o hope_n of_o endure_v the_o great_a thing_n that_o may_v befall_v we_o in_o this_o world_n though_o continue_v upon_o we_o never_o so_o long_o and_o that_o we_o may_v do_v it_o the_o rather_o the_o apostle_n further_o add_v that_o the_o same_o spirit_n shall_v likewise_o stir_v we_o up_o in_o all_o necessity_n of_o we_o to_o pray_v unto_o god_n and_o to_o make_v our_o moan_n unto_o he_o as_o to_o our_o father_n and_o shall_v be_v hear_v of_o he_o for_o though_o we_o sometime_o through_o the_o greatness_n of_o our_o misery_n know_v not_o what_o or_o how_o to_o pray_v as_o we_o ought_v yet_o his_o spirit_n shall_v stir_v up_o even_o then_o though_o not_o many_o well_o order_v speech_n or_o word_n yet_o those_o sigh_n and_o groan_n which_o be_v unspeakable_a and_o only_o feel_v be_v notwithstanding_o well_o understand_v and_o accept_v of_o god_n because_o they_o proceed_v from_o his_o spirit_n who_o meaning_n he_o know_v and_o grant_v because_o it_o make_v request_n for_o the_o saint_n according_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n as_o it_o be_v ver_fw-la 26._o wherein_o we_o be_v notwithstanding_o to_o consider_v that_o though_o we_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n even_o the_o spirit_n that_o teach_v we_o to_o pray_v so_o that_o we_o have_v many_o time_n call_v upon_o god_n with_o great_a assurance_n and_o comfort_n for_o and_o with_o ourselves_o and_o other_o yet_o there_o may_v be_v a_o time_n and_o that_o very_a often_o wherein_o we_o may_v be_v so_o distract_v by_o some_o great_a affliction_n and_o in_o that_o case_n that_o be_v as_o it_o be_v astonish_v and_o overcome_v with_o the_o greatness_n and_o strangeness_n of_o it_o we_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o to_o pray_v and_o though_o prayer_n then_o be_v our_o only_a refuge_n yet_o we_o can_v not_o tell_v how_o to_o begin_v it_o or_o what_o to_o say_v and_o so_o unlike_a shall_v we_o be_v unto_o ourselves_o and_o that_o that_o we_o have_v be_v in_o time_n past_a as_o though_o we_o be_v not_o the_o same_o nay_o our_o estate_n may_v seem_v like_a unto_o the_o wicked_a who_o be_v at_o their_o wit_n end_n for_o if_o we_o be_v ask_v what_o we_o will_v have_v we_o can_v not_o tell_v and_o though_o we_o have_v liberty_n to_o ask_v of_o god_n we_o can_v not_o use_v it_o for_o we_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o to_o pray_v a_o wonderful_a thing_n but_o yet_o most_o true_a and_o that_o which_o be_v to_o be_v find_v not_o in_o some_o but_o in_o the_o most_o excellent_a servant_n of_o god_n even_o the_o apostle_n themselves_o as_o paul_n here_o bring_v in_o himself_o for_o a_o example_n and_o in_o this_o infirmity_n make_v himself_o like_a unto_o the_o rest_n and_o though_o we_o have_v a_o form_n of_o prayer_n prescribe_v we_o by_o our_o saviour_n christ_n yet_o we_o ask_v those_o thing_n many_o time_n which_o if_o we_o have_v they_o will_v hurt_v we_o and_o when_o we_o ask_v that_o which_o be_v profitable_a and_o good_a yet_o by_o prescribe_v to_o the_o lord_n the_o time_n manner_n and_o mean_n of_o our_o deliverance_n we_o pray_v with_o such_o impatience_n and_o distrust_n that_o it_o may_v true_o be_v say_v we_o can_v not_o tell_v what_o to_o pray_v as_o we_o ought_v this_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o good_a king_n hezekiah_n isa_n 38._o 14._o when_o he_o be_v oppress_v in_o the_o bitterness_n of_o his_o soul_n as_o he_o say_v &_o he_o chatter_v like_o a_o crane_n or_o a_o swallow_n and_o mourn_v as_o a_o dove_n such_o be_v the_o perplexity_n and_o more_o than_o infirmity_n of_o david_n when_o instead_o of_o pray_v he_o roar_v all_o the_o day_n long_o psal_n 32._o 3._o and_o when_o he_o mourn_v in_o his_o prayer_n and_o can_v but_o make_v a_o noise_n psal_n 55._o 2._o and_o when_o as_o he_o say_v for_o the_o voice_n of_o his_o groan_v his_o bone_n do_v cleave_v to_o his_o skin_n and_o that_o he_o be_v like_o a_o pelicane_n of_o the_o wilderness_n and_o like_o a_o owl_n of_o the_o desert_n and_o as_o a_o sparrow_n alone_o upon_o the_o house_n top_n psalm_n 102._o 5_o 6_o 7._o and_o when_o his_o heart_n pant_v and_o his_o strength_n fail_v he_o even_o the_o light_n of_o his_o eye_n he_o roar_v for_o the_o very_a grief_n of_o his_o heart_n and_o he_o pour_v out_o his_o whole_a desire_n before_o the_o lord_n by_o sob_v and_o sigh_v rather_o than_o by_o any_o thing_n else_o thus_o these_o most_o excellent_a servant_n of_o god_n in_o their_o great_a agony_n be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v able_a to_o pray_v unto_o god_n in_o any_o tolerable_a manner_n that_o in_o their_o own_o sense_n and_o feeling_n they_o do_v but_o roar_v and_o cry_v sob_n and_o sigh_v mourn_v and_o complain_v and_o that_o very_o confuse_o even_o like_o the_o crane_n the_o swallow_n &_o the_o owl_n so_o confuse_v be_v they_o in_o themselves_o and_o full_a of_o disorder_n and_o fall_v into_o so_o many_o great_a infirmity_n at_o once_o therefore_o we_o may_v not_o judge_v of_o ourselves_o or_o other_o by_o any_o one_o such_o or_o few_o particular_a case_n lest_o we_o 10._o 19_o 20._o that_o when_o they_o shall_v be_v bring_v before_o king_n they_o shall_v not_o take_v think_v what_o or_o how_o to_o speak_v for_o he_o will_v give_v they_o in_o that_o hour_n what_o to_o say_v because_o it_o be_v not_o they_o which_o shall_v speak_v but_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o father_n which_o speak_v in_o they_o even_o so_o we_o shall_v find_v when_o we_o be_v most_o unfit_a to_o pray_v if_o we_o will_v not_o yield_v to_o it_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o secret_a inward_a work_n whereby_o we_o shall_v be_v stir_v up_o to_o do_v something_o and_o there_o be_v a_o labour_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o a_o endeavour_n of_o the_o mind_n aspire_v unto_o that_o which_o we_o may_v seem_v not_o to_o attain_v unto_o and_o there_o shall_v be_v many_o sigh_n though_o few_o word_n many_o great_a desire_n though_o few_o voice_n yea_o there_o be_v
towards_o they_o it_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o though_o all_o other_o man_n shall_v wax_v worse_o and_o worse_o by_o their_o affliction_n yet_o the_o lord_n will_v turn_v all_o they_o unto_o their_o good_a because_o he_o have_v purpose_v it_o so_o that_o for_o the_o certainty_n of_o this_o he_o lead_v they_o to_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o purpose_n of_o god_n appear_v in_o their_o call_n which_o be_v very_o strange_a and_o many_o thing_n against_o it_o yet_o nothing_o can_v hinder_v it_o because_o it_o be_v purpose_v so_o by_o the_o cross_a our_o good_a be_v ordain_v by_o the_o unchangeable_a purpose_n of_o god_n how_o many_o thing_n soever_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v against_o it_o within_o we_o or_o without_o we_o nothing_o shall_v be_v able_a ever_o to_o hinder_v it_o but_o we_o shall_v always_o find_v this_o promise_n to_o be_v true_a that_o all_o thing_n shall_v work_v together_o for_o the_o best_a to_o those_o that_o love_n god_n even_o those_o that_o be_v call_v of_o his_o purpose_n in_o the_o next_o verse_n when_o he_o add_v for_o those_o who_o he_o know_v before_o he_o also_o predestinate_a to_o be_v make_v like_o to_o the_o image_n of_o his_o son_n that_o he_o temptation_n which_o be_v more_o comfortable_a then_o to_o say_v suffer_v we_o not_o to_o be_v lead_v because_o therein_o we_o confess_v not_o only_o that_o the_o lord_n behold_v we_o in_o all_o our_o trouble_n but_o that_o he_o that_o be_v our_o father_n and_o know_v our_o strength_n lay_v they_o upon_o we_o with_o his_o own_o hand_n and_o therefore_o we_o need_v so_o much_o the_o less_o to_o fear_v lest_o we_o shall_v be_v over-laden_a the_o consideration_n of_o this_o shall_v not_o only_o make_v we_o patient_a in_o all_o affliction_n but_o to_o look_v for_o some_o good_a from_o they_o
