that_o jesus_n christ_n will_v make_v all_o his_o to_o be_v of_o one_o mind_n and_o of_o one_o heart_n and_o when_o they_o can_v be_v of_o one_o mind_n yet_o to_o be_v of_o one_o heart_n and_o i_o be_o as_o assure_v that_o in_o his_o due_a time_n he_o will_v effect_v it_o when_o that_o bless_a time_n be_v approach_v such_o doctrine_n as_o this_o plain_a sermon_n hold_v forth_o will_v be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o these_o word_n text_n it_o be_v necessary_a that_o i_o carry_v you_o a_o little_a back_n the_o apostle_n have_v in_o the_o eleven_o first_o chapter_n at_o large_a open_v the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n begin_v in_o this_o twelve_o chapter_n with_o the_o second_o part_n of_o our_o christian_a religion_n which_o be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o evangelical_a obedience_n and_o there_o he_o first_o propound_v the_o general_a nature_n of_o it_o that_o it_o be_v a_o give_n up_o of_o ourselves_o to_o be_v holy_a and_o live_a sacrifice_n unto_o god_n yield_v unto_o he_o a_o reasonable_a service_n second_o he_o set_v it_o out_o by_o the_o general_a rule_n of_o it_o and_o that_o be_v first_o negative_a not_o to_o be_v conform_v to_o the_o world_n the_o mode_n and_o custom_n and_o manner_n of_o man_n and_o second_o positive_a viz._n to_o search_v and_o know_v with_o a_o renew_a mind_n what_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o as_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v discover_v to_o embrace_v and_o obey_v it_o acknowledge_v it_o to_o be_v a_o good_a and_o a_o acceptable_a will_n to_o we_o these_o two_o be_v general_a then_o in_o the_o next_o place_n he_o begin_v more_o particular_o to_o show_v wherein_o this_o will_n of_o god_n do_v stand_v or_o what_o he_o have_v reveal_v for_o the_o direction_n of_o his_o people_n and_o in_o the_o three_o verse_n he_o do_v propound_v one_o particular_a rule_n to_o which_o because_o he_o will_v have_v it_o take_v the_o better_a place_n he_o make_v this_o preface_n i_o say_v through_o the_o grace_n that_o be_v give_v i_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v i_o propound_v that_o which_o through_o mercy_n i_o well_o understand_v to_o be_v a_o most_o excellent_a and_o necessary_a rule_n viz._n that_o every_o one_o will_v be_v earefull_a to_o employ_v that_o talon_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v trust_v he_o with_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o his_o own_o line_n and_o place_n thereby_o to_o be_v useful_a and_o profitable_a to_o the_o whole_a that_o be_v the_o scope_n of_o those_o word_n that_o no_o man_n shall_v think_v more_o high_o of_o himself_o than_o he_o ought_v to_o think_v but_o to_o think_v sober_o impose_v upon_o christian_n that_o therefore_o the_o necessity_n and_o weight_n of_o it_o may_v the_o more_o appear_v he_o use_v a_o most_o apt_a and_o elegant_a similitude_n look_v as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o natural_a body_n of_o man_n the_o member_n be_v very_o many_o take_v the_o joint_n and_o sinew_n nerve_n and_o vein_n etc._o etc._o there_o be_v abundance_n of_o they_o and_o every_o one_o of_o they_o be_v endow_v with_o some_o faculty_n or_o other_o and_o all_o the_o multitude_n of_o member_n do_v make_v but_o one_o body_n wherein_o every_o member_n do_v its_o own_o office_n the_o whole_a be_v nourish_v and_o shall_v they_o neglect_v the_o performance_n of_o what_o god_n in_o nature_n have_v entrust_v they_o with_o or_o shall_v not_o each_o of_o they_o keep_v to_o their_o own_o work_n this_o neglect_n or_o disorder_n will_v tend_v to_o the_o destruction_n of_o the_o whole_a even_o so_o have_v the_o lord_n appoint_v and_o order_v it_o in_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n that_o all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n scatter_v throughout_o the_o world_n though_o their_o multitude_n be_v not_o to_o be_v number_v yet_o all_o these_o be_v all_o compact_v by_o the_o lord_n institution_n into_o one_o body_n and_o in_o this_o one_o body_n they_o be_v all_o of_o they_o not_o only_o member_n of_o jesus_n christ_n the_o head_n but_o every_o one_o of_o they_o member_n one_o of_o another_o 16._o and_o give_v gift_n and_o ability_n to_o be_v employ_v by_o they_o for_o their_o common_a good_a each_o need_v another_o each_o bind_v to_o help_v one_o another_o and_o by_o what_o every_o one_o be_v bind_v in_o his_o place_n to_o supply_v the_o whole_a church_n which_o be_v the_o body_n of_o christ_n grow_v up_o to_o perfection_n as_o be_v most_o excellent_o lay_v down_o ephes._n 4._o 16._o hope_n of_o their_o call_n by_o hope_n there_o be_v not_o mean_v the_o grace_n of_o hope_n whereby_o we_o expect_v and_o wait_v for_o the_o good_a that_o christ_n have_v purchase_v for_o we_o but_o there_o it_o signify_v the_o object_n of_o hope_n and_o therefore_o be_v call_v the_o hope_n of_o our_o call_n 18._o which_o in_o other_o place_n be_v call_v the_o hope_n set_v before_o we_o 3._o and_o plain_o signify_v that_o which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n call_v the_o common_a salvation_n of_o all_o god_n people_n the_o mean_a as_o well_o as_o the_o great_a have_v a_o share_n in_o the_o great_a thing_n lay_v up_o in_o store_n for_o they_o all_o which_o they_o all_o aspire_v to_o and_o seek_v after_o and_o in_o the_o end_n do_v all_o enjoy_v which_o be_v the_o end_n of_o their_o faith_n and_o hope_n the_o salvation_n of_o their_o soul_n there_o be_v one_o body_n one_o spirit_n one_o hope_n of_o their_o call_n four_o they_o have_v all_o one_o lord_n one_o lord_n what_o be_v that_o to_o interpret_v this_o aright_o be_v please_v to_o remember_v this_o one_o rule_n that_o wherever_o in_o the_o new_a testament_n you_o find_v god_n and_o lord_n both_o mention_v together_o to_o signify_v distinct_a person_n lord_n always_o signify_v jesus_n christ_n 5._o as_o mediator_n as_o in_o 1_o cor._n 8._o and_o other_o place_n there_o be_v god_n many_o and_o lord_n many_o but_o we_o have_v but_o one_o god_n that_o be_v over_o all_o and_o one_o lord_n by_o who_o be_v all_o thing_n and_o we_o by_o he_o so_o that_o by_o one_o lord_n he_o there_o mean_v that_o all_o the_o saint_n throughout_o the_o world_n have_v their_o address_n to_o god_n only_o in_o the_o name_n and_o mediation_n of_o the_o same_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n they_o have_v but_o one_o advocate_n one_o intercessor_n one_o mediator_n between_o god_n and_o they_o and_o by_o who_o alone_o be_v communicate_v to_o they_o all_o the_o good_a thing_n which_o come_v from_o god_n then_o five_o they_o have_v all_o one_o faith_n there_o be_v one_o lord_n and_o one_o faith_n i_o conceive_v that_o there_o by_o faith_n be_v not_o mean_v the_o grace_n of_o faith_n although_o if_o that_o be_v mean_v as_o i_o shall_v show_v you_o by_o and_o by_o yet_o they_o have_v all_o that_o one_o faith_n but_o there_o he_o mean_v by_o faith_n the_o rule_n doctrine_n and_o object_n of_o faith_n the_o doctrine_n which_o be_v believe_v and_o signify_v that_o all_o the_o saint_n throughout_o the_o world_n do_v by_o faith_n receive_v and_o believe_v the_o selfsame_a truth_n which_o give_v they_o a_o interest_n in_o god_n and_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o which_o carry_v they_o to_o eternal_a salvation_n now_o because_o this_o seem_v a_o little_a difficult_a i_o must_v endeavour_v a_o little_a more_o full_o to_o clear_v it_o than_o i_o have_v do_v any_o of_o the_o former_a i_o say_v all_o the_o member_n of_o christ_n throughout_o the_o world_n have_v one_o faith_n the_o meaning_n be_v in_o every_o age_n and_o every_o corner_n of_o the_o world_n where_o christ_n have_v any_o of_o his_o people_n there_o be_v some_o common_a doctrine_n wherein_o salvation_n be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o which_o all_o god_n people_n do_v agree_v each_o of_o they_o believe_v and_o receive_v they_o for_o his_o particular_a for_o although_o great_a clerk_n do_v know_v and_o understand_v many_o truth_n which_o other_o be_v ignorant_a of_o yea_o and_o among_o the_o people_n of_o christ_n there_o be_v great_a difference_n and_o division_n in_o their_o opinion_n in_o many_o particular_a thing_n of_o weight_n and_o concernment_n yet_o if_o you_o sever_v the_o thing_n wherein_o they_o differ_v one_o from_o another_o and_o set_v they_o aside_o and_o gather_v into_o one_o symbol_n or_o sum_n those_o great_a truth_n wherein_o they_o all_o agree_v there_o will_v be_v find_v so_o much_o truth_n embrace_v by_o all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n which_o will_v bring_v they_o all_o to_o salvation_n be_v real_o believe_v and_o answer_v with_o a_o holy_a conversation_n for_o instance_n look_v this_o day_n into_o all_o the_o corner_n of_o the_o earth_n east_n west_n north_n and_o south_n where_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n be_v know_v and_o profess_v the_o great_a fundamental_a doctrine_n which_o bring_v salvation_n be_v receive_v by_o all_o the_o member_n of_o christ_n truth_n be_v there_o be_v in_o many_o place_n damnable_a heresy_n superinduce_v which_o if_o receive_v the_o foundation_n be_v destroy_v but_o christ_n spirit_n in_o all_o the_o saint_n either_o make_v they_o see_v the_o danger_n of_o they_o and_o abhor_v they_o or_o else_o in_o mercy_n keep_v they_o ignorant_a of_o they_o and_o so_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o it_o be_v even_o in_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n this_o day_n among_o who_o christ_n will_v have_v a_o people_n to_o be_v call_v out_o from_o among_o they_o when_o that_o babylon_n be_v to_o be_v destroy_v though_o their_o doctrine_n in_o the_o gross_a sum_n as_o set_v forth_o in_o the_o council_n of_o trent_n will_v not_o stand_v with_o salvation_n yet_o some_o latent_a member_n of_o christ_n church_n among_o they_o do_v through_o mercy_n see_v and_o shun_v those_o thing_n which_o be_v damnable_a or_o be_v ignorant_a of_o that_o mystery_n of_o iniquity_n and_o place_v all_o their_o hope_n of_o salvation_n in_o christ_n alone_o and_o lead_v their_o life_n in_o holiness_n according_a to_o their_o measure_n of_o light_n receive_v the_o sum_n of_o all_o come_v to_o this_o that_o among_o all_o christ_n people_n in_o the_o world_n there_o be_v embrace_v so_o much_o truth_n as_o be_v accompany_v with_o a_o answerable_a conversation_n will_v save_v they_o and_o notwithstanding_o the_o remainder_n of_o their_o mistake_n error_n corruption_n of_o judgement_n about_o lesser_a truth_n and_o corruption_n in_o their_o conversation_n we_o may_v comfortable_o say_v of_o they_o all_o as_o the_o apostle_n do_v in_o the_o six_o of_o the_o galathian_n 16._o as_o many_o as_o walk_v according_a to_o this_o rule_n peace_n be_v upon_o they_o and_o upon_o the_o israel_n of_o god_n this_o be_v the_o five_o thing_n that_o all_o the_o saint_n in_o every_o corner_n of_o the_o world_n have_v one_o faith_n and_o if_o also_o you_o will_v take_v faith_n for_o the_o grace_n of_o faith_n whereby_o each_o for_o their_o part_n be_v unite_v to_o jesus_n christ_n which_o faith_n also_o be_v the_o principle_n of_o that_o life_n of_o grace_n which_o the_o saint_n lead_v in_o this_o world_n for_o we_o live_v by_o faith_n in_o this_o also_o all_o god_n people_n in_o the_o world_n have_v the_o same_o faith_n which_o be_v therefore_o call_v the_o faith_n of_o god_n elect_a 1._o and_o the_o like_a precious_a faith_n so_o they_o be_v one_o body_n 2._o have_v one_o spirit_n one_o hope_n of_o their_o call_n one_o lord_n one_o faith_n then_o 6_o and_o they_o have_v all_o one_o baptism_n which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v take_v literal_o bare_o for_o the_o sacrament_n of_o wash_v with_o water_n but_o either_o it_o be_v take_v as_o some_o interpret_v it_o for_o the_o spiritual_a part_n of_o baptism_n which_o be_v their_o new_a birth_n the_o wash_n away_o of_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o wash_n of_o they_o with_o god_n spirit_n or_o rather_o as_o it_o be_v the_o custom_n in_o the_o jewish_a church_n to_o have_v all_o their_o ordinance_n signify_v by_o circumcision_n whence_o therefore_o all_o who_o embrace_v the_o jew_n manner_n of_o worship_n be_v call_v the_o circumcision_n because_o it_o be_v the_o first_o ordinance_n and_o that_o which_o seal_v they_o to_o all_o the_o rest_n so_o i_o conceive_v he_o mean_v by_o baptism_n that_o as_o it_o be_v the_o first_o ordinance_n so_o it_o be_v here_o use_v to_o express_v all_o gospel_n institution_n so_o that_o by_o one_o baptism_n he_o mean_v that_o god_n people_n all_o have_v the_o same_o ordinance_n or_o mean_n for_o their_o edification_n and_o build_v up_o in_o christ_n and_o then_o last_o they_o have_v all_o one_o god_n and_o father_n of_o all_o who_o be_v above_o they_o all_o and_o through_o they_o all_o and_o in_o they_o all_o which_o signify_v that_o they_o all_o have_v one_o god_n which_o be_v their_o sovereign_a lord_n the_o father_n
lesson_n viz._n the_o whole_a church_n propound_v or_o the_o collection_n or_o aggregation_n of_o all_o the_o saint_n be_v one_o body_n in_o christ_n of_o which_o body_n christ_n be_v the_o head_n of_o christ_n be_v not_o the_o body_n mean_v in_o my_o text_n but_o second_o explain_v christ_n have_v another_o body_n very_o often_o mention_v in_o the_o scripture_n which_o be_v call_v his_o mystical_a body_n or_o a_o body_n in_o a_o mystery_n but_o because_o that_o may_v be_v look_v upon_o but_o as_o a_o blind_a which_o every_o man_n may_v interpret_v according_a to_o his_o own_o fancy_n therefore_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n have_v teach_v we_o that_o the_o collection_n or_o aggregation_n or_o the_o thus_o gather_v together_o of_o all_o the_o saint_n in_o one_o which_o the_o scripture_n call_v the_o body_n of_o christ_n though_o it_o be_v not_o his_o natural_a body_n yet_o it_o be_v to_o he_o as_o his_o natural_a body_n and_o this_o i_o pray_v you_o to_o mark_v and_o give_v i_o leave_v to_o prove_v because_o it_o be_v the_o only_a foundation_n of_o all_o the_o discourse_n that_o i_o be_o this_o day_n to_o make_v to_o you_o i_o say_v the_o church_n when_o the_o scripture_n call_v it_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n be_v to_o he_o as_o his_o natural_a body_n that_o be_v they_o stand_v to_o christ_n in_o the_o same_o relation_n that_o the_o natural_a body_n do_v and_o all_o these_o come_v from_o the_o same_o spirit_n and_o this_o spirit_n that_o give_v these_o gift_n and_o administration_n and_o operation_n he_o give_v they_o all_o to_o this_o end_n that_o there_o may_v be_v a_o profit_n of_o the_o whole_a and_o present_o that_o you_o may_v understand_v his_o meaning_n tell_v we_o that_o look_v as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o natural_a body_n 12._o there_o chapter_n explain_v he_o exhort_v they_o earnest_o to_o live_v in_o love_n and_o keep_v the_o unity_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o bond_n of_o peace_n to_o provoke_v they_o the_o better_a to_o it_o look_v as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o natural_a body_n the_o lord_n have_v so_o cast_v it_o and_o what_o the_o head_n do_v for_o its_o part_n the_o liver_n for_o its_o part_n the_o heart_n for_o its_o part_n the_o brain_n for_o its_o part_n and_o every_o joint_a and_o sinew_n for_o its_o part_n the_o whole_a body_n grow_v up_o to_o a_o full_a stature_n and_o all_o grow_v up_o together_o so_o have_v the_o lord_n ordain_v and_o cast_v it_o to_o be_v in_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n now_o this_o foundation_n be_v lay_v body_n that_o though_o the_o church_n be_v not_o christ_n natural_a body_n it_o be_v yet_o as_o his_o natural_a body_n the_o great_a question_n be_v wherein_o do_v this_o comparison_n or_o resemblance_n stand_v to_o that_o i_o answer_v first_o it_o be_v easy_a for_o a_o man_n to_o name_v many_o particular_n wherein_o the_o comparison_n will_v not_o hold_v betwixt_o the_o church_n and_o a_o natural_a body_n and_o it_o be_v as_o easy_a for_o a_o man_n to_o name_v many_o thing_n wherein_o they_o be_v very_o like_o one_o to_o another_o but_o we_o must_v not_o be_v wise_a beyond_o the_o scripture_n nor_o stretch_v it_o any_o further_a than_o the_o lord_n intend_v it_o i_o humble_o conceive_v that_o the_o comparison_n lie_v proper_o in_o these_o two_o thing_n first_o that_o as_o in_o the_o natural_a body_n the_o member_n and_o every_o member_n have_v a_o real_a union_n with_o the_o head_n for_o its_o own_o part_n have_v the_o same_o spirit_n animate_v it_o that_o be_v in_o the_o head_n and_o thereby_o have_v a_o communion_n with_o and_o dependence_n upon_o the_o head_n in_o all_o the_o office_n that_o the_o head_n can_v do_v for_o it_o so_o every_o particular_a christian_n or_o member_n of_o the_o church_n have_v a_o real_a indissoluble_a spiritual_a union_n and_o conjunction_n with_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v his_o spirit_n communicate_v unto_o they_o which_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o all_o their_o communion_n the_o very_a root_n and_o principle_n of_o their_o spiritual_a life_n and_o which_o enable_v they_o every_o one_o for_o their_o part_n to_o live_v unto_o christ_n that_o be_v one_o second_o which_o be_v the_o thing_n i_o intend_v that_o as_o in_o the_o natural_a body_n all_o the_o member_n do_v not_o only_o meet_v in_o the_o head_n as_o all_o the_o line_n do_v meet_v in_o a_o centre_n and_o be_v one_o there_o though_o they_o do_v not_o touch_v one_o another_o anywhere_o else_o but_o they_o be_v all_o by_o the_o wonderful_a power_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n so_o contrive_v and_o compact_v and_o join_v
together_o that_o they_o have_v a_o real_a union_n one_o with_o another_o so_o in_o this_o mystical_a and_o spiritual_a body_n all_o the_o saint_n have_v not_o only_o each_o for_o his_o own_o part_n a_o union_n and_o conjunction_n with_o jesus_n christ_n but_o also_o a_o real_a union_n and_o conjunction_n one_o with_o another_o which_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o many_o duty_n which_o every_o one_o of_o they_o be_v thereby_o bind_v to_o perform_v one_o to_o another_o and_o of_o many_o privilege_n which_o thereby_o they_o enjoy_v with_o and_o by_o one_o another_o as_o shall_v god_n will_v be_v afterwards_o open_v unto_o you_o now_o this_o my_o text_n speak_v as_o plain_o as_o any_o man_n can_v wish_v when_o it_o say_v that_o we_o be_v many_o that_o be_v all_o we_o christian_n all_o of_o christ_n have_v with_o christ_n their_o head_n be_v a_o most_o divine_a excellent_a and_o necessary_a truth_n and_o indeed_o be_v the_o foundation_n and_o principle_n of_o all_o our_o christian_a life_n and_o therefore_o most_o worthy_a to_o be_v understand_v by_o all_o god_n people_n but_o that_o not_o be_v the_o main_a drift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o this_o place_n another_o i_o forbear_v to_o speak_v of_o at_o this_o time_n and_o shall_v treat_v only_o of_o the_o second_o and_o that_o be_v the_o union_n and_o conjunction_n that_o be_v and_o aught_o to_o be_v between_o all_o the_o people_n of_o jesus_n christ_n one_o with_o another_o they_o be_v member_n one_o of_o another_o and_o therein_o shall_v endeavour_v first_o to_o prove_v and_o clear_v it_o and_o then_o hasten_v say_v i_o have_v no_o need_n of_o thou_o or_o i_o have_v no_o need_n of_o thou_o god_n have_v so_o order_v it_o that_o every_o one_o of_o they_o needs_o one_o another_o 24._o and_o every_o one_o of_o they_o be_v and_o aught_o to_o be_v useful_a one_o to_o another_o yea_o that_o even_o the_o most_o mean_a and_o feeble_a of_o all_o the_o member_n be_v not_o only_o of_o the_o body_n as_o well_o as_o the_o rest_n but_o be_v necessary_a to_o the_o good_a of_o the_o whole_a and_o those_o member_n which_o we_o be_v prone_a to_o think_v less_o honourable_a and_o more_o uncomely_a god_n have_v appoint_v in_o this_o mystical_a body_n as_o well_o as_o in_o our_o natural_a body_n to_o have_v the_o more_o honour_n put_v upon_o they_o and_o so_o in_o that_o other_o forementioned_a place_n the_o four_o of_o the_o ephesian_n where_o he_o say_v that_o the_o whole_a body_n be_v join_v together_o by_o that_o that_o every_o joint_n supply_v etc._n etc._n there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o joint_n but_o it_o make_v for_o the_o supply_n for_o the_o edification_n of_o the_o whole_a to_o these_o may_v be_v add_v all_o those_o place_n which_o speak_v of_o the_o church_n as_o one_o corporation_n or_o body_n under_o other_o resemblance_n one_o vine_n one_o house_n one_o city_n etc._n etc._n whereof_o very_a many_o do_v occur_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n but_o all_o these_o thing_n will_v be_v clear_a in_o my_o subsequent_a discourse_n wherein_o for_o the_o full_a clear_n the_o doctrinal_a part_n i_o shall_v a_o little_a insist_v upon_o two_o main_a question_n and_o then_o endeavour_v to_o resolve_v a_o doubt_n or_o two_o which_o may_v seem_v to_o lie_v as_o objection_n against_o all_o the_o saint_n make_v but_o one_o body_n first_o if_o the_o saint_n be_v one_o body_n etc._n etc._n it_o may_v be_v demand_v wherein_o this_o unity_n of_o the_o saint_n stand_v or_o what_o be_v the_o thing_n wherein_o all_o the_o member_n of_o christ_n have_v union_n one_o with_o another_o second_o if_o they_o be_v thus_o all_o one_o what_o be_v the_o band_n and_o ligament_n whereby_o this_o vast_a multitude_n be_v all_o of_o they_o tie_v thus_o firm_o together_o for_o the_o first_o if_o all_o the_o church_n and_o people_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v all_o real_o one_o one_o with_o another_o and_o have_v thereby_o a_o communion_n one_o with_o another_o 1._o the_o question_n be_v what_o be_v those_o thing_n wherein_o they_o be_v thus_o one_o to_o which_o i_o answer_v the_o particular_n be_v both_o many_o and_o excellent_a but_o because_o i_o will_v not_o burden_v your_o memory_n i_o desire_v you_o to_o turn_v to_o and_o consider_v with_o i_o but_o one_o only_a text_n which_o indeed_o do_v comprehend_v the_o sum_n of_o all_o that_o can_v be_v say_v about_o it_o and_o and_o father_n of_o all_o who_o be_v above_o you_o all_o and_o through_o you_o all_o and_o in_o you_o all_o now_o in_o these_o seven_o unity_n be_v comprehend_v all_o the_o thing_n wherein_o all_o the_o saint_n of_o christ_n be_v one_o therefore_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v brief_o to_o open_v they_o first_o they_o be_v all_o of_o they_o one_o body_n that_o be_v all_o god_n people_n throughout_o all_o the_o world_n be_v but_o one_o incorporation_n and_o there_o be_v no_o one_o of_o they_o but_o he_o have_v as_o real_o a_o membership_n in_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n as_o any_o other_o of_o they_o as_o in_o a_o army_n though_o every_o one_o be_v not_o a_o officer_n nor_o every_o soldier_n equal_o valiant_a or_o skilful_a yet_o every_o one_o be_v equal_o a_o member_n of_o the_o army_n and_o as_o in_o a_o city_n or_o corporation_n every_o freeman_n though_o no_o mayor_n alderman_n or_o master_n of_o a_o company_n etc._n etc._n yet_o be_v as_o real_o a_o member_n of_o the_o city_n as_o any_o other_o or_o look_v as_o in_o a_o building_n it_o may_v be_v some_o room_n may_v be_v large_a beautifull_a and_o useful_a yet_o there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o stud_n the_o least_o nail_n the_o least_o pin_n but_o it_o be_v as_o real_o a_o part_n of_o the_o building_n as_o the_o main_a post_n that_o uphold_v it_o so_o take_v the_o church_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v make_v up_o of_o the_o collection_n and_o aggregation_n of_o all_o god_n people_n there_o be_v not_o one_o of_o they_o but_o he_o may_v true_o say_v i_o be_o a_o part_n of_o that_o house_n body_n or_o build_v of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o real_a as_o any_o other_o second_o and_o they_o be_v all_o one_o in_o this_o that_o there_o be_v but_o one_o spirit_n which_o i_o think_v signify_v these_o two_o thing_n for_o other_o scripture_n teach_v i_o so_o to_o interpret_v it_o first_o they_o be_v all_o of_o they_o animate_v and_o lead_v by_o the_o selfsame_a spirit_n that_o as_o the_o member_n of_o the_o body_n though_o they_o be_v it_o may_v be_v many_o hundred_o yet_o there_o be_v one_o individual_a soul_n that_o animate_v they_o all_o so_o in_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n all_o the_o saint_n every_o one_o of_o they_o have_v the_o selfsame_a spirit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n which_o be_v the_o principle_n of_o their_o life_n and_o animate_v every_o one_o of_o they_o but_o that_o be_v not_o all_o but_o by_o the_o same_o spirit_n he_o second_o mean_v the_o spirit_n as_o it_o be_v the_o administrator_n or_o distributor_n of_o all_o the_o gift_n of_o christ_n that_o whatsoever_o gift_n grace_n operation_n administration_n be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o whole_a church_n the_o selfsame_a spirit_n distribute_v his_o gift_n various_o as_o he_o please_v to_o some_o more_o and_o to_o some_o less_o yet_o give_v they_o all_o to_o and_o for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o whole_a church_n in_o general_a and_o for_o every_o member_n in_o its_o particular_a so_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n himself_o interpret_v this_o in_o the_o first_o of_o the_o corinthian_n and_o the_o twelve_o from_o ver._n 4._o to_o 14._o there_o be_v diversity_n of_o gift_n but_o the_o
name_n heart_n and_o labour_n to_o keep_v with_o they_o all_o the_o unity_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o bond_n of_o peace_n now_o as_o these_o be_v schismatical_a from_o erroneous_a judgement_n so_o there_o be_v other_o from_o principle_n of_o a_o corrupt_a heart_n i_o shall_v only_o name_v they_o and_o indeed_o name_v they_o be_v sufficient_a to_o convince_v they_o for_o no_o man_n dare_v take_v upon_o he_o to_o justify_v they_o yet_o name_v they_o must_v be_v for_o they_o be_v as_o mischievous_a as_o the_o other_o first_o self-seeker_n therefore_o all_o self-lover_n and_o self-seeker_n with_o who_o all_o other_o in_o their_o affection_n and_o spirit_n be_v regard_v only_o as_o they_o can_v make_v use_n of_o they_o we_o know_v that_o if_o the_o member_n of_o the_o body_n be_v thus_o affect_v the_o whole_a body_n will_v soon_o perish_v private-wealths-man_n be_v never_o good_a commonwealths-man_n paul_n exhort_v the_o saint_n not_o to_o look_v upon_o our_o own_o thing_n 4._o but_o every_o man_n on_o the_o thing_n of_o other_o else_o it_o be_v impossible_a but_o we_o must_v divide_v from_o they_o plutarch_n as_o our_o private_a interest_n lead_v we_o this_o self-seeking_a ruin_a and_o overthrow_v carthage_n and_o the_o other_o of_o seek_v the_o public-weal_n build_v up_o rome_n and_o so_o be_v it_o in_o our_o great_a and_o spiritual_a commonwealth_n second_o spirit_n all_o proud_a insolent_a arrogant_a high-minded_a man_n who_o must_v have_v rule_n and_o bear_v sway_n where_o ever_o they_o come_v or_o who_o use_n to_o despise_v and_o contemn_v other_o i_o have_v no_o need_n of_o thou_o full_a of_o themselves_o and_o slight_v of_o other_o this_o spirit_n of_o pride_n be_v a_o curse_a root_n bring_v forth_o heresy_n schism_n contention_n and_o every_o evil_a work_n the_o first_o rent_n which_o ever_o be_v in_o god_n family_n be_v the_o pride_n of_o the_o angel_n and_o ever_o since_o it_o have_v bear_v the_o like_a fruit_n example_n be_v innumerable_a cain_n esau_n corah_n dathan_n etc._n etc._n three_o spirit_n all_o quarrelsome_a rail_a froward_a spirit_n who_o upon_o every_o dissent_n from_o they_o in_o any_o opinion_n or_o in_o matter_n of_o conversation_n fall_v into_o rail_a language_n brand_a other_o with_o odious_a term_n seek_v to_o make_v they_o infamous_a and_o hateful_a rail_v never_o cure_v error_n or_o infirmity_n but_o keep_v division_n open_a and_o make_v the_o breach_n wide_a truth_n and_o love_n join_v together_o may_v work_v great_a thing_n but_o truth_n and_o bitterness_n can_v do_v little_a four_o busybody_n and_o so_o be_v all_o busybody_n who_o must_v have_v a_o oar_n in_o every_o man_n boat_n who_o can_v be_v content_a to_o keep_v within_o their_o own_o call_n 3._o but_o as_o the_o apostle_n express_v their_o nature_n in_o this_o text_n be_v wise_a 15._o or_o think_v more_o high_o of_o themselves_o than_o they_o ought_v to_o think_v all_o these_o polypragmatical_a spirit_n which_o delight_n to_o be_v bishop_n in_o all_o man_n diocese_n be_v dangerous_a person_n nothing_o more_o divide_v or_o rend_v the_o body_n than_o when_o the_o member_n keep_v not_o to_o their_o own_o work_n and_o fiftly_o all_o factious_a people_n who_o where_o ever_o they_o come_v will_v be_v make_v party_n spirit_n though_o it_o may_v be_v they_o draw_v they_o not_o into_o a_o new_a church_n yet_o divide_v into_o several_a party_n some_o for_o paul_n and_o some_o for_o apollo_n and_o some_o for_o another_o and_o all_o that_o be_v but_o to_o make_v themselves_o seem_v some_o body_n and_o serve_v their_o own_o belly_n paul_n often_o complain_v of_o such_o kind_n of_o man_n these_o carnal_a man_n make_v the_o schism_n in_o corinth_n of_o these_o he_o admonish_v the_o roman_n mark_v they_o who_o cause_n division_n and_o offence_n contrary_a to_o the_o doctrine_n which_o you_o have_v learned_a 12._o and_o avoid_v they_o for_o they_o that_o be_v such_o serve_v not_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n 17._o but_o their_o own_o belly_n a_o very_o sad_a sentence_n six_o schismatic_n and_o last_o all_o they_o who_o spirit_n carry_v they_o to_o foment_n and_o cherish_v such_o as_o make_v rent_n and_o division_n who_o not_o only_o bear_v with_o such_o as_o we_o will_v bear_v with_o a_o disease_n so_o bear_v with_o as_o yet_o to_o lance_v it_o and_o seek_v to_o cure_v it_o but_o delight_n in_o they_o as_o to_o make_v they_o the_o man_n of_o their_o counsel_n and_o confederacy_n and_o thereby_o do_v harden_v they_o in_o their_o way_n expose_v themselves_o unto_o snare_n and_o occasion_v other_o who_o be_v weak_a to_o incline_v to_o these_o divider_n all_o these_o some_o from_o one_o principle_n other_o from_o another_o help_v to_o rend_v and_o divide_v that_o body_n which_o christ_n will_v have_v preserve_v in_o unity_n i_o have_v thus_o far_o according_a to_o my_o weakness_n discover_v to_o you_o the_o true_a cause_n and_o in_o part_n the_o instrument_n of_o our_o woeful_a division_n which_o have_v make_v the_o church_n of_o christ_n present_v itself_o such_o a_o rueful_a spectacle_n as_o it_o be_v at_o this_o day_n what_o remain_v but_o only_o these_o two_o thing_n first_o that_o we_o all_o lament_v this_o and_o mourn_v for_o it_o second_o that_o we_o all_o labour_n to_o help_v to_o cure_v it_o first_o division_n that_o we_o all_o lament_v it_o i_o confess_v our_o division_n in_o opinion_n be_v very_o sad_a but_o our_o divide_a affection_n be_v sad_a be_v our_o spirit_n unite_v the_o spirit_n of_o love_n will_v have_v such_o a_o power_n
