sing_v than_o they_o do_v in_o feed_v and_o therefore_o they_o have_v soon_o do_v with_o this_o so_o shall_v a_o christian_n be_v more_o delight_v in_o converse_v with_o god_n in_o walk_v in_o the_o spirit_n in_o run_v the_o way_n of_o his_o commandment_n than_o in_o serve_v the_o necessity_n of_o nature_n yea_o it_o shall_v be_v his_o meat_n and_o drink_n to_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n as_o it_o be_v a_o delight_n to_o the_o bird_n to_o sing_v and_o soar_v aloft_o again_o as_o the_o bird_n use_v not_o these_o thing_n so_o as_o to_o make_v her_o unfit_a to_o fly_v so_o a_o christian_a of_o sight_n and_o he_o be_v least_o move_v with_o the_o thing_n here_o below_o and_o best_a able_a to_o contemn_v earthly_a vanity_n he_o be_v too_o far_o above_o these_o to_o be_v much_o affect_v towards_o they_o therefore_o this_o shall_v make_v we_o think_v of_o the_o exhortation_n of_o the_o apostle_n mind_v the_o thing_n which_o be_v above_o and_o this_o shall_v teach_v we_o to_o help_v ourselves_o against_o earthly_a affection_n and_o fleshly_a lust_n think_v with_o thyself_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o i_o be_o so_o earthly-minded_n that_o my_o affection_n be_v so_o engage_v to_o this_o or_o that_o in_o the_o world_n yet_o i_o can_v come_v off_o nor_o free_v myself_o that_o i_o can_v scarce_o persuade_v my_o own_o heart_n to_o be_v without_o these_o and_o these_o thing_n it_o be_v this_o because_o my_o heart_n be_v not_o carry_v aloft_o it_o draw_v too_o near_o the_o ground_n it_o withdraw_v too_o much_o from_o god_n if_o i_o shall_v keep_v up_o my_o heart_n close_o to_o god_n these_o thing_n will_v be_v out_o of_o sight_n the_o earth_n will_v seldom_o be_v in_o my_o thought_n at_o least_o not_o so_o as_o to_o work_v much_o upon_o my_o affection_n on_o the_o other_o side_n you_o see_v that_o those_o bird_n which_o use_v so_o much_o upon_o the_o ground_n they_o fly_v but_o soft_o as_o may_v be_v see_v by_o those_o that_o use_v about_o our_o house_n so_o also_o those_o christian_n that_o be_v much_o take_v up_o with_o the_o deal_n and_o business_n of_o the_o world_n they_o fly_v but_o soft_o have_v but_o slow_a affection_n and_o sluggish_a motion_n to_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n they_o go_v but_o cold_o about_o good_a duty_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v pray_v for_o a_o great_a measure_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o bear_v we_o upward_o 11._o consider_v also_o that_o as_o the_o bird_n can_v mount_v up_o into_o the_o air_n and_o yet_o light_a upon_o the_o earth_n too_o and_o receive_v some_o refreshment_n there_o whereas_o the_o beast_n yet_o never_o complain_v of_o weakness_n we_o can_v suffer_v mortal_a disease_n most_o dangerous_a corruption_n to_o grow_v upon_o our_o soul_n and_o never_o see_v our_o need_n of_o spiritual_a physic_n how_o many_o a_o soul_n be_v swell_v with_o pride_n and_o overgrow_v with_o vile_a affection_n and_o yet_o no_o care_n be_v take_v of_o it_o but_o it_o be_v let_v alone_o as_o if_o all_o be_v very_o like_a to_o that_o of_o fly_v yea_o some_o of_o either_o kind_n do_v communicate_v with_o each_o other_o in_o their_o element_n for_o as_o we_o have_v water-foul_n so_o there_o have_v be_v flying-fish_n in_o great_a abundance_n so_o that_o here_o you_o may_v magnify_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n who_o in_o the_o day_n that_o these_o creature_n be_v make_v do_v imprint_v upon_o they_o such_o property_n and_o quality_n as_o shall_v be_v evidence_n to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n in_o some_o sort_n that_o they_o be_v but_o the_o work_n of_o one_o and_o the_o same_o day_n 2._o consider_v here_o that_o as_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v the_o foul_n to_o fly_v in_o the_o air_n and_o the_o fish_n to_o swim_v in_o the_o sea_n confine_v each_o to_o his_o own_o element_n for_o the_o general_a though_o some_o few_o particular_n be_v suffer_v to_o live_v in_o both_o this_o shall_v teach_v we_o to_o walk_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o our_o calling_n and_o not_o to_o think_v we_o shall_v mend_v ourselves_o in_o a_o different_a element_n or_o another_o kind_n of_o course_n without_o some_o special_a cause_n some_o few_o may_v have_v some_o special_a warrant_n to_o change_v their_o calling_n as_o amos_n to_o leave_v his_o flock_n and_o teach_v the_o people_n and_o peter_n to_o leave_v his_o net_n and_o fish_n for_o man_n these_o have_v a_o immediate_a call_n from_o god_n and_o so_o i_o dare_v not_o deny_v but_o that_o in_o case_n of_o great_a necessity_n when_o the_o church_n be_v destitute_a of_o able_a minister_n some_o well-studied_n in_o the_o scripture_n and_o experience_v in_o the_o mystery_n of_o grace_n may_v take_v upon_o they_o the_o office_n of_o the_o ministry_n be_v lawful_o separate_v unto_o that_o function_n yet_o this_o will_v prove_v no_o more_o which_o go_v up_o and_o down_o upon_o it_o so_o do_v the_o spirit_n also_o give_v support_v unto_o all_o that_o be_v bear_v of_o the_o spirit_n they_o be_v keep_v by_o the_o mighty_a power_n of_o of_o light_n as_o many_o time_n in_o beauty_n strength_n wit_n outward_a carriage_n policy_n civil_a deportment_n etc._n etc._n yet_o the_o mean_a true_a christian_a be_v more_o excellent_a than_o his_o best_a carnal_a neighbour_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n restore_v to_o he_o 7._o again_o see_v the_o beast_n have_v those_o pleasure_n whereof_o the_o sense_n be_v capable_a invisible_a and_o so_o his_o creation_n be_v to_o be_v consider_v according_a to_o his_o several_a part_n first_o then_o consider_v the_o creation_n of_o man_n body_n and_o then_o of_o his_o soul._n the_o creation_n of_o man_n body_n be_v but_o brief_o lay_v down_o gen._n 2.7_o and_o the_o lord_n god_n form_v man_n of_o the_o dust_n of_o the_o ground_n that_o be_v his_o body_n where_o though_o the_o dust_n of_o the_o ground_n be_v mention_v yet_o i_o conceive_v that_o the_o matter_n of_o man_n body_n be_v temper_v with_o the_o other_o element_n although_o the_o earth_n be_v that_o which_o amiss_o brief_o to_o consider_v of_o the_o notable_a workmanship_n of_o man_n body_n whereof_o the_o psalmist_n speak_v psal._n 139.14_o 15_o etc._n etc._n and_o in_o it_o may_v be_v consider_v the_o general_a frame_n the_o particular_a part_n 1._o in_o the_o general_a frame_n be_v to_o be_v observe_v a_o notable_a and_o excellent_a temper_n of_o body_n consistinâ—â—f_o divers_a humour_n admirable_o compose_v and_o mix_v together_o and_o fit_v so_o as_o to_o be_v a_o serviceable_a instrument_n of_o the_o soul_n this_o be_v in_o full_a perfection_n when_o god_n make_v it_o for_o we_o musâ—_n not_o judge_v of_o it_o according_a to_o those_o distemper_n whereunto_o the_o body_n now_o be_v subject_a yet_o now_o in_o some_o temper_n above_o other_o there_o be_v some_o degree_n of_o evenness_n which_o give_v we_o a_o shadow_n of_o that_o exactness_n that_o be_v at_o the_o first_o but_o in_o that_o state_n of_o creation_n there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o defect_n nor_o disorder_n in_o the_o temper_n of_o the_o body_n nothing_o which_o a_o man_n can_v have_v wish_v to_o have_v be_v otherwise_o than_o it_o be_v the_o constitution_n and_o complexion_n of_o the_o body_n and_o so_o the_o colour_n and_o appearance_n of_o it_o be_v perfect_a and_o exact_a for_o as_o every_o thing_n wâ—s_v good_a in_o its_o kind_n so_o man_n especial_o have_v his_o due_a natural_a perfection_n every_o way_n 2._o as_o there_o be_v this_o perfect_a temper_n and_o so_o a_o excellent_a constitution_n so_o there_o be_v a_o just_a and_o due_a proportion_n the_o whole_a body_n have_v its_o just_a stature_n and_o every_o part_n its_o due_a measure_n it_o be_v exact_o shape_v and_o frame_v nothing_o want_v nothing_o exceed_v nothing_o beyond_o nothing_o short_a of_o the_o due_a size_n and_o this_o exactness_n both_o of_o temper_n and_o proportion_n make_v up_o the_o perfect_a beauty_n and_o comeliness_n which_o god_n give_v to_o the_o body_n of_o man_n in_o his_o creation_n 3._o in_o the_o general_a frame_n also_o we_o may_v consider_v the_o upright_a and_o erect_a posture_n of_o man_n body_n in_o which_o regard_n he_o be_v permit_v to_o look_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o a_o excellent_a majesty_n be_v give_v he_o as_o a_o lord_n and_o ruler_n over_o the_o other_o creature_n who_o be_v make_v to_o bow_v down_o their_o back_n in_o subjection_n unto_o he_o and_o by_o the_o very_o stoop_v of_o their_o body_n to_o do_v he_o homage_n and_o acknowledge_v his_o dominion_n
the_o nourishment_n of_o the_o body_n and_o so_o for_o the_o preservation_n of_o life_n and_o this_o also_o yield_v abundant_a matter_n of_o delight_n and_o refreshment_n job_n say_v do_v not_o the_o ear_n try_v word_n and_o the_o mouth_n or_o palate_n taste_v his_o meat_n job_n 12.11_o that_o be_v do_v it_o not_o by_o taste_v try_v it_o for_o god_n have_v give_v this_o ability_n to_o the_o creature_n to_o try_v what_o be_v agreeable_a to_o their_o body_n and_o what_o be_v displease_v in_o the_o last_o place_n the_o touch_n or_o feel_v be_v may_v rise_v again_o a_o incorruptible_a sect_n 4._o iv._o even_o this_o earthly_a frame_n of_o the_o body_n prove_v it_o a_o hard_a thing_n to_o put_v off_o earthly_a affection_n and_o therefore_o care_n and_o strive_v shall_v be_v use_v in_o it_o the_o body_n be_v make_v of_o dust_n it_o will_v return_v to_o dust_n again_o not_o only_o in_o the_o final_a dissolution_n but_o also_o in_o the_o present_a inclination_n it_o now_o lean_v to_o the_o earth_n and_o rest_v on_o the_o earth_n man_n be_v deep_o in_o love_n with_o his_o own_o element_n and_o strong_o tie_v to_o it_o in_o his_o affection_n it_o be_v say_v of_o one_o that_o be_v one_o of_o three_o who_o demand_v of_o the_o orracle_n which_o shall_v be_v chief_a and_o hear_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v the_o man_n that_o first_o shall_v kiss_v his_o mother_n he_o fall_v down_o and_o kiss_v the_o earth_n as_o account_v it_o the_o common_a mother_n of_o all_o man_n be_v so_o in_o love_n with_o the_o earth_n that_o they_o embrace_v it_o and_o as_o it_o be_v kiss_v it_o in_o their_o affection_n as_o a_o mother_n out_o of_o who_o womb_n they_o have_v their_o beginning_n although_o the_o oracle_n of_o god_n word_n condemn_v this_o folly_n and_o teach_v they_o that_o earthly_a course_n yet_o so_o long_o as_o we_o keep_v our_o earthly_a affection_n our_o heart_n will_v cleave_v to_o the_o earth_n special_a cause_n we_o have_v to_o study_v that_o book_n of_o the_o wise_a man_n throughout_o which_o teach_v we_o the_o vanity_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n that_o be_v in_o earthly_a thing_n and_o to_o see_v and_o admire_v the_o treasure_n and_o riches_n of_o god_n kingdom_n that_o apprehend_v better_a thing_n we_o may_v make_v better_a account_n of_o these_o sect_n 5._o v._o in_o as_o much_o as_o god_n make_v our_o body_n we_o must_v yield_v up_o our_o body_n to_o his_o service_n for_o god_n make_v all_o thing_n for_o himself_o say_v the_o scripture_n he_o make_v not_o the_o body_n for_o the_o devil_n nor_o for_o the_o world_n nor_o for_o lust_n nor_o for_o drunkenness_n but_o for_o himself_o let_v we_o well_o consider_v this_o and_o learn_v to_o give_v god_n his_o due_n the_o idolater_n will_v bow_v with_o his_o body_n to_o idol_n and_o say_v that_o he_o keep_v his_o heart_n to_o god_n but_o he_o must_v know_v that_o god_n make_v the_o body_n as_o well_o as_o the_o soul_n and_o if_o he_o make_v all_o thing_n for_o himself_o than_o the_o body_n as_o well_o as_o any_o other_o thing_n the_o profane_a person_n that_o abuse_v his_o tongue_n to_o swear_v wanton_a wicked_a discourse_n to_o rail_v scoff_a etc._n etc._n the_o adulterer_n which_o sin_v against_o the_o whole_a body_n as_o the_o apostle_n show_v the_o drunkard_n who_o abuse_v his_o body_n to_o excess_n of_o swill_v and_o drink_v the_o wanton_a that_o abuse_v his_o eye_n to_o careless_a wander_a and_o open_v his_o ear_n to_o vanity_n he_o that_o please_v his_o palate_n and_o love_v his_o pleasure_n more_o than_o god_n he_o that_o think_v his_o body_n give_v he_o for_o no_o other_o purpose_n but_o either_o to_o drudge_n about_o earthly_a thing_n or_o to_o â—ast_v of_o earthly_a delight_n even_o such_o a_o one_o be_v apt_a to_o say_v he_o have_v a_o good_a heart_n towards_o god_n but_o be_v not_o deceive_v god_n make_v this_o body_n for_o himself_o and_o therefore_o we_o must_v not_o abuse_v any_o part_n of_o the_o body_n to_o his_o dishonour_n nor_o make_v any_o member_n of_o it_o a_o instrument_n of_o unrighteousness_n but_o to_o give_v up_o the_o member_n of_o our_o body_n as_o instrument_n of_o righteousness_n unto_o holiness_n let_v we_o not_o think_v a_o little_a pain_n of_o the_o body_n too_o much_o to_o bestow_v in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n in_o hear_v the_o word_n in_o prayer_n in_o humiliation_n etc._n etc._n but_o let_v we_o glorify_v god_n as_o in_o our_o soul_n especial_o so_o in_o our_o body_n also_o for_o they_o be_v god_n as_o well_o as_o our_o soul_n sect_n 6._o vi_o in_o that_o god_n make_v the_o body_n care_n must_v be_v use_v to_o preserve_v and_o not_o to_o destroy_v thy_o own_o body_n or_o thy_o brother_n we_o must_v not_o pull_v down_o this_o tabernacle_n which_o god_n himself_o have_v pitch_v but_o must_v leave_v it_o to_o his_o dispose_n use_v all_o lawful_a mean_n to_o keep_v it_o up_o and_o to_o preserve_v it_o strong_a until_o he_o please_v to_o dissolve_v it_o shun_v intemperancy_n and_o excess_n in_o thing_n that_o please_v the_o appetite_n in_o meat_n and_o drink_n etc._n etc._n use_v those_o mean_n which_o god_n have_v give_v thou_o to_o repair_v this_o house_n which_o god_n himself_o have_v build_v for_o thy_o soul_n to_o dwell_v in_o let_v the_o life_n and_o body_n of_o another_o be_v precious_a in_o thy_o sight_n and_o do_v thy_o endeavour_n to_o preserve_v it_o and_o let_v we_o know_v that_o in_o some_o case_n not_o to_o save_v life_n be_v to_o destroy_v viz._n when_o there_o be_v special_a mean_n call_v and_o opportunity_n to_o do_v it_o in_o time_n of_o necessity_n some_o mean_n must_v be_v use_v to_o prevent_v the_o famish_v of_o many_o therefore_o at_o such_o time_n we_o shall_v free_o give_v without_o grudge_v to_o the_o relief_n of_o other_o remember_v that_o it_o be_v for_o the_o preservation_n of_o those_o body_n which_o god_n have_v make_v and_o let_v this_o keep_v thou_o from_o lay_v violent_a hand_n on_o thy_o own_o body_n it_o be_v a_o loud_a cry_a sin_n to_o destroy_v another_o body_n because_o god_n have_v make_v it_o but_o most_o horrible_a to_o destroy_v thy_o own_o since_o god_n have_v make_v it_o and_o have_v give_v thou_o a_o special_a charge_n to_o keep_v it_o moreover_o since_o god_n have_v make_v the_o body_n let_v we_o rely_v upon_o he_o for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o the_o body_n he_o have_v make_v it_o and_o he_o will_v keep_v it_o he_o have_v give_v a_o mouth_n and_o he_o will_v give_v meat_n he_o have_v give_v a_o back_n and_o he_o will_v clothe_v it_o thus_o may_v a_o christian_a that_o have_v recover_v his_o forfeiture_n in_o christ_n reason_n from_o the_o love_n and_o promise_v of_o god_n and_o therefore_o in_o hard_a time_n our_o want_n shall_v be_v special_a motive_n to_o drive_v we_o home_o to_o god_n through_o christ_n that_o be_v in_o he_o we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o of_o all_o needful_a supply_n for_o the_o body_n from_o his_o hand_n that_o make_v it_o there_o be_v not_o the_o poor_a hypocritical_a and_o counterfeit_a since_o god_n have_v give_v thou_o the_o body_n of_o a_o man_n look_v upward_o towards_o heaven_n do_v not_o take_v to_o thyself_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o beast_n grovel_v on_o the_o earth_n here_o below_o viii_o see_v god_n at_o the_o first_o give_v man_n perfect_a beauty_n in_o regard_n both_o of_o temper_n and_o proportion_n then_o let_v all_o defect_n or_o deformity_n which_o thou_o see_v in_o any_o not_o move_v thou_o to_o contemn_v their_o person_n but_o rather_o to_o lament_v the_o common_a misery_n of_o man_n nature_n fall_v into_o sin_n the_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o then_o of_o its_o power_n and_o faculty_n 1._o for_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v a_o spirit_n and_o herein_o most_o like_a unto_o the_o angel_n of_o any_o other_o creature_n and_o though_o the_o wise_a man_n do_v communicate_v this_o name_n to_o the_o life_n of_o a_o beast_n yet_o he_o show_v a_o great_a difference_n between_o these_o two_o sort_n of_o spirit_n say_v the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n that_o go_v upward_o and_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o beast_n that_o go_v downward_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o beast_n or_o that_o which_o give_v it_o go_v upward_o it_o be_v present_v before_o the_o lord_n in_o judgement_n after_o its_o departure_n from_o the_o body_n 2._o it_o be_v such_o a_o spirit_n as_o can_v subsist_v alone_o of_o it_o self_n out_o of_o the_o body_n so_o the_o apostle_n make_v mention_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o just_a man_n make_v perfect_a heb._n 12._o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o saint_n now_o in_o heaven_n who_o body_n rest_v in_o the_o dust_n and_o this_o show_v the_o excellent_a matter_n of_o man_n spirit_n far_o above_o the_o life_n of_o the_o beast_n or_o any_o unreasonable_a creature_n that_o it_o can_v subsist_v when_o it_o be_v sever_v from_o the_o body_n this_o show_v that_o it_o do_v not_o depend_v upon_o the_o body_n nor_o be_v extract_v out_o of_o it_o but_o rather_o that_o the_o perfection_n of_o the_o body_n depend_v on_o it_o it_o can_v live_v without_o the_o body_n but_o the_o body_n without_o it_o rot_v putrefy_v and_o moulder_v away_o into_o dust_n dust_n return_v to_o dust_n as_o it_o be_v say_v the_o wise_a man_n and_o the_o spirit_n return_v to_o he_o that_o give_v it_o eccles._n 12._o 3._o it_o be_v a_o immortal_a spirit_n so_o this_o very_a place_n show_v that_o when_o dust_n return_v to_o dust_n when_o the_o body_n dissolve_v than_o the_o spirit_n live_v and_o yield_v up_o itself_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o so_o the_o scripture_n show_v both_o in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o of_o the_o wicked_a the_o one_o shall_v go_v into_o life_n eternal_a and_o the_o other_o into_o everlasting_a punishment_n sect_n 2._o in_o the_o next_o place_n let_v we_o speak_v of_o the_o power_n and_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n here_o i_o shall_v speak_v first_o of_o those_o which_o be_v common_a to_o it_o with_o other_o creature_n viz._n those_o which_o they_o call_v vegetative_a and_o sensitive_a which_o be_v find_v in_o the_o beast_n and_o bird_n these_o i_o call_v faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n although_o for_o my_o own_o part_n i_o concieve_v they_o not_o to_o be_v proper_o inherent_a in_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n but_o rather_o in_o the_o temper_n of_o the_o body_n for_o the_o intellectual_a soul_n be_v a_o spirit_n i_o can_v see_v how_o these_o brutish_a affection_n such_o as_o many_o of_o these_o be_v can_v be_v inherent_a in_o it_o especial_o because_o many_o of_o they_o as_o the_o faculty_n of_o attraction_n retention_n expulsion_n augmentation_n etc._n etc._n be_v ordinary_o exercise_v not_o only_o without_o the_o command_n but_o also_o without_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n which_o i_o know_v not_o how_o it_o can_v be_v if_o they_o be_v inherent_a in_o it_o immediate_o it_o be_v a_o single_a spiritual_a and_o intellectual_a be_v now_o these_o faculty_n be_v many_o which_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v and_o show_v his_o admirable_a wisdom_n in_o they_o 1._o of_o the_o vegetative_a part_n there_o be_v a_o nutritive_a or_o nourish_a property_n to_o which_o diverse_a other_o be_v serviceable_a as_o that_o of_o hunger_n and_o thirst_n which_o be_v proper_o a_o branch_n of_o the_o sensitive_a yet_o insensible_a creature_n be_v a_o servant_n to_o the_o vegetative_a for_o by_o body_n have_v a_o power_n to_o draw_v blood_n from_o the_o liver_n which_o be_v far_o below_o they_o as_o well_o as_o the_o low_a part_n and_o in_o this_o the_o wonderful_a wisdom_n of_o god_n be_v clear_o manifest_v 2._o there_o be_v a_o retentive_a faculty_n or_o a_o power_n of_o keep_v that_o nourishment_n a_o convenient_a time_n till_o it_o may_v be_v so_o wrought_v upon_o and_o perfect_v as_o to_o turn_v into_o one_o substance_n with_o the_o body_n and_o to_o refresh_v its_o part_n but_o lâ—st_v nature_n shall_v suck_v poison_n instead_o of_o nourishment_n or_o digest_v that_o into_o the_o former_a and_o be_v think_v to_o be_v place_v in_o the_o middle_a part_n of_o the_o brain_n 3._o the_o memory_n which_o keep_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v receive_v in_o by_o the_o other_o and_o lay_v they_o up_o as_o in_o a_o treasury_n and_o the_o seat_n of_o this_o be_v in_o the_o hindermost_a part_n of_o the_o brain_n and_o in_o this_o most_o admirable_a be_v the_o wisdom_n and_o power_n of_o god_n that_o certain_a image_n of_o thing_n long_o since_o see_v or_o hear_v shall_v be_v lay_v up_o in_o a_o corner_n of_o the_o brain_n and_o there_o preserve_v many_o year_n and_o call_v to_o mind_n though_o they_o be_v the_o resemblance_n of_o many_o thousand_o several_a thing_n some_o memory_n be_v far_o worse_o than_o other_o yet_o even_o the_o mean_a ordinary_a memory_n be_v wonderful_a if_o we_o do_v right_o consider_v that_o in_o so_o narrow_a a_o compass_n the_o shape_n and_o likeness_n of_o so_o many_o several_a thing_n shall_v be_v preserve_v yea_o even_o this_o be_v notable_a that_o the_o image_n of_o so_o many_o man_n face_n as_o one_o man_n can_v remember_v shall_v be_v there_o engrave_v in_o so_o small_a a_o table_n as_o be_v the_o memory_n sect_n 4._o of_o the_o affection_n as_o for_o the_o affection_n they_o be_v seat_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o these_o be_v many_o as_o 1._o love_n which_o be_v a_o affection_n of_o the_o soul_n unite_n itself_o to_o some_o thing_n apprehend_v as_o good_a for_o so_o whatsoever_o be_v belove_v love_n either_o be_v good_a or_o seem_v to_o have_v some_o good_a in_o it_o to_o he_o that_o love_v it_o contrary_a to_o which_o be_v a_o second_o affection_n sc_n hatred_n hatred_n and_o that_o be_v a_o affection_n of_o the_o heart_n shune_v and_o separate_n itself_o from_o that_o which_o be_v so_o hate_a as_o suppose_v hurtful_a for_o though_o good_a thing_n be_v often_o hate_v yet_o there_o be_v a_o apprehension_n of_o evil_n in_o they_o and_o if_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o affection_n as_o create_v of_o god_n than_o nothing_o be_v belove_v but_o that_o which_o be_v true_o good_a nor_o hate_v but_o that_o which_o be_v true_o evil_a but_o of_o the_o integrity_n of_o the_o affection_n we_o may_v speak_v incident_a to_o bodily_a substance_n and_o beside_o all_o these_o have_v have_v many_o thousand_o year_n wherein_o to_o increase_v their_o knowledge_n it_o be_v beyond_o our_o imagination_n to_o think_v to_o what_o a_o height_n they_o be_v grow_v by_o this_o mean_n the_o apostle_n show_v that_o the_o holy_a angel_n do_v increase_v their_o knowledge_n in_o the_o gospel_n by_o the_o preach_a of_o the_o apostle_n eph._n 3.8_o unto_o i_o who_o be_o less_o than_o the_o least_o of_o all_o saint_n be_v this_o grace_n give_v that_o i_o shall_v preach_v among_o the_o gentile_n the_o unsearchable_a riches_n of_o christ_n that_o man_n may_v learn_v as_o he_o say_v vers._n 9_o but_o this_o be_v not_o all_o there_o be_v scholar_n also_o of_o a_o high_a form_n in_o the_o school_n of_o that_o speak_v by_o the_o apostle_n to_o the_o angel_n and_o out_o of_o the_o mouth_n of_o man_n do_v teach_v these_o glorious_a spirit_n but_o there_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n in_o the_o end_n of_o this_o knowledge_n in_o angel_n and_o man_n for_o man_n must_v learn_v the_o mystery_n of_o grace_n both_o that_o they_o may_v believe_v and_o be_v save_v and_o also_o that_o they_o may_v admire_v and_o magnify_v the_o riches_n of_o god_n grace_n in_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n but_o the_o angel_n do_v not_o learn_v this_o for_o their_o own_o redemption_n who_o never_o fall_v into_o sin_n and_o therefore_o need_v no_o pardon_n but_o that_o they_o may_v glorify_v god_n and_o rejoice_v in_o the_o salvation_n of_o the_o elect._n and_o as_o god_n the_o son_n do_v choose_v to_o unite_v to_o himself_o not_o the_o nature_n of_o angel_n but_o of_o man_n so_o god_n the_o holy_a ghost_n do_v choose_v rather_o to_o speak_v by_o man_n to_o the_o angel_n in_o this_o mystery_n concern_v god_n the_o son_n be_v god_n and_o man_n than_o by_o the_o angel_n to_o men._n now_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o the_o evil_a angel_n also_o do_v learn_v the_o gospel-mystery_n which_o they_o also_o believe_v and_o tremble_v they_o be_v constant_a hearer_n and_o it_o may_v well_o be_v think_v that_o there_o be_v never_o a_o sermon_n which_o be_v likely_a to_o bring_v any_o danger_n to_o their_o kingdom_n but_o that_o some_o of_o they_o be_v present_a though_o for_o no_o good_a intent_n yea_o when_o they_o hinder_v other_o from_o learning_n yet_o they_o learn_v themselves_o though_o they_o never_o mean_v to_o practice_v and_o as_o the_o angel_n good_a and_o evil_n have_v increase_v their_o knowledge_n in_o the_o mystery_n of_o christ_n so_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o they_o have_v do_v the_o like_a in_o other_o thing_n by_o their_o long_a experience_n now_o you_o must_v not_o think_v there_o be_v a_o essential_a or_o natural_a difference_n between_o the_o good_a and_o evil_a angel_n though_o they_o differ_v exceed_o in_o regard_n of_o moral_a good_a or_o evil_n no_o more_o than_o there_o be_v between_o good_a and_o evil_a men._n peter_n and_o judas_n be_v both_o they_o have_v natural_o admirable_a power_n and_o strength_n give_v they_o as_o appear_z psal._n 103.20_o bless_v the_o lord_n you_o his_o angel_n mighty_a in_o strength_n one_o angel_n invade_v a_o
