may_v be_v idle_a in_o we_o no_o very_o satan_n when_o he_o possess_v man_n will_v not_o suffer_v they_o to_o be_v idle_a much_o less_o jesus_n christ_n but_o provoke_v they_o still_o to_o honest_a labour_n and_o good_a work_n for_o by_o his_o spiritual_a power_n he_o manife_v his_o own_o strength_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o manifold_a weakness_n now_o if_o that_o be_v true_a than_o this_o ensue_v thereupon_o that_o i_o be_o christ_n and_o christ_n be_v i_o as_o the_o church_n &_o faithful_a soul_n sing_v in_o the_o book_n of_o the_o canticle_n yea_o he_o himself_o with_o all_o his_o grace_n and_o merit_n whatsoever_o so_o that_o he_o which_o feel_v and_o find_v these_o effect_n in_o himself_o can_v not_o but_o must_v of_o necessity_n infer_v thereupon_o that_o he_o have_v faith_n and_o that_o therefore_o he_o have_v christ_n in_o he_o in_o this_o life_n make_v he_o fruitful_a unto_o all_o good_a work_n and_o seal_v up_o unto_o he_o &_o in_o he_o salvation_n &_o everlasting_a this_o faith_n of_o thou_o which_o thou_o speak_v of_o and_o these_o fruit_n of_o it_o that_o thou_o mention_v they_o be_v imperfect_a they_o be_v faint_a and_o few_o yea_o they_o seldom_o or_o very_o rare_o appear_v or_o be_v see_v what_o then_o satan_n grant_v that_o my_o faith_n and_o good_a work_n be_v faint_a and_o few_o in_o i_o will_v thou_o infer_v that_o therefore_o i_o have_v none_o that_o be_v against_o all_o reason_n and_o religion_n in_o reason_n he_o that_o have_v but_o a_o sick_a pine_a or_o languish_v life_n live_v still_o and_o in_o hope_n of_o the_o better_n of_o his_o estate_n either_o as_o in_o regard_n of_o this_o world_n if_o god_n will_v or_o as_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o life_n to_o come_v especial_o and_o why_o shall_v not_o this_o in_o measure_n and_o manner_n be_v true_a as_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o spiritual_a life_n here_o in_o religion_n we_o know_v that_o god_n accept_v both_o the_o whole_a church_n &_o the_o several_a member_n of_o it_o according_a to_o that_o they_o have_v and_o not_o according_a to_o that_o they_o have_v not_o provide_v always_o that_o that_o which_o they_o have_v they_o have_v it_o from_o he_o or_o else_o how_o can_v the_o church_n &_o member_n of_o it_o rejoice_v or_o comfort_v themselves_o in_o the_o thing_n that_o they_o do_v and_o from_o hence_o be_v it_o indeed_o that_o we_o learn_v notwithstanding_o weakness_n &_o want_n either_o in_o whole_a congregation_n or_o several_a member_n not_o to_o break_v the_o unity_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o band_n of_o peace_n nor_o to_o forsake_v the_o fellowship_n of_o the_o brethren_n and_o the_o exercise_n of_o the_o church_n as_o the_o manner_n of_o sin_n be_v but_o n_o holy_a wisdom_n and_o power_n from_o above_o to_o put_v a_o difference_n betwixt_o good_a and_o evil_a and_o that_o not_o only_o in_o our_o persuasion_n but_o in_o our_o practice_n not_o forsake_v the_o good_a of_o our_o god_n for_o some_o evil_n or_o corruption_n of_o man_n adjoin_v therewithal_o nor_o yet_o for_o the_o good_n sake_n justify_v or_o approve_v the_o evil_a and_o if_o this_o be_v not_o sufficient_a yet_o we_o have_v further_a prop_n to_o our_o faith_n here_o namely_o first_o that_o though_o our_o faith_n be_v weak_a and_o faint_a yet_o be_v it_o true_a and_o sound_a for_o even_o that_o faith_n which_o be_v infirm_a and_o weak_a may_v yet_o notwitstanding_n be_v true_a &_o right_a the_o reason_n be_v because_o that_o not_o weak_a faith_n and_o true_a faith_n be_v opposite_a but_o weak_a faith_n and_o no_o faith_n and_o this_o we_o may_v see_v also_o by_o the_o worthy_a speech_n of_o the_o father_n of_o the_o sick_a child_n in_o the_o gospel_n lord_n i_o believe_v but_o help_v thou_o my_o unbelief_n this_o weakness_n &_o imperfection_n our_o faith_n not_o come_v from_o itself_o nor_o be_v in_o itself_o as_o of_o itself_o for_o so_o it_o be_v a_o excellent_a and_o a_o absolute_a work_n of_o god_n but_o as_o it_o be_v intermingle_v with_o the_o remainder_n of_o our_o unbelieve_a heart_n which_o yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o faintness_n and_o weakness_n of_o it_o may_v no_o less_o effectual_o
sound_a or_o that_o god_n may_v not_o distribute_v his_o grace_n as_o he_o will_v to_o some_o more_o to_o some_o less_o to_o none_o all_o it_o be_v somewhat_o but_o these_o thing_n be_v as_o they_o be_v hieroms_n collection_n can_v be_v very_o good_a but_o let_v it_o be_v as_o may_v be_v we_o say_v nothing_o to_o deface_v he_o or_o to_o puff_n up_o ourselves_o but_o to_o show_v that_o the_o adversary_n have_v not_o nor_o can_v any_o manner_n of_o way_n have_v such_o hold_n of_o he_o or_o from_o he_o as_o they_o suppose_v and_o the_o like_a may_v we_o say_v of_o all_o the_o rest_n who_o authority_n we_o cease_v further_a to_o answer_v as_o we_o because_o that_o which_o have_v be_v say_v to_o these_o will_v suffice_v to_o satisfy_v the_o other_o as_o also_o because_o we_o will_v avoid_v tediousness_n not_o only_o in_o matter_n unnecessary_a but_o even_o also_o in_o that_o which_o be_v necessary_a and_o so_o make_v haste_n to_o more_o material_a point_n and_o matter_n of_o more_o weight_n and_o importance_n hitherto_o we_o have_v be_v busy_v and_o i_o hope_v not_o unprofitable_o in_o answer_v whatsoever_o our_o adversary_n have_v be_v able_a to_o allege_v either_o out_o of_o scripture_n or_o from_o reason_n or_o father_n against_o the_o certainty_n of_o faith_n in_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n touch_v our_o salvation_n etc._n etc._n or_o for_o the_o maintenance_n and_o uphold_v of_o that_o doubtfulness_n and_o distrust_n which_o they_o hold_v in_o themselves_o and_o will_v obtrude_v or_o thrust_v unto_o other_o by_o all_o which_o it_o plain_o and_o evident_o appear_v that_o that_o doctrine_n of_o they_o concern_v doubt_v be_v not_o contain_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o the_o writing_n of_o the_o father_n right_o understand_v or_o be_v ground_v upon_o any_o sound_n or_o religious_a reason_n and_o that_o therefore_o indeed_o it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v account_v a_o scripture_n doctrine_n or_o a_o doctrine_n contain_v in_o the_o book_n and_o write_n of_o holy_a man_n endue_v with_o sound_n and_o upright_o judgement_n but_o be_v take_v rather_o as_o a_o dream_n and_o fantasy_n of_o their_o own_o which_o together_o with_o with_o they_o will_v vanish_v away_o they_o be_v so_o far_o of_o their_o preiudise_v the_o truth_n which_o they_o have_v seem_v to_o oppugn_v and_o impugn_v that_o they_o have_v rather_o establish_v and_o confirm_v the_o same_o so_o true_a here_o and_o else_o where_o even_o in_o all_o respect_n must_v that_o be_v that_o the_o apostle_n saint_n paul_n speak_v in_o the_o second_o to_o the_o corinthian_n the_o thirteen_o where_o he_o say_v we_o can_v do_v any_o thing_n against_o the_o truth_n but_o for_o the_o truth_n now_o we_o be_v in_o as_o few_o word_n as_o possible_o we_o can_v to_o declare_v that_o this_o their_o doctrine_n of_o doubt_v direct_o strive_v against_o god_n holy_a word_n &_o the_o writing_n of_o the_o founder_n father_n religion_n reason_n and_o whatsoever_o else_o we_o can_v reckon_v up_o that_o so_o when_o we_o see_v it_o have_v not_o only_o nothing_o for_o it_o but_o all_o against_o it_o we_o may_v cast_v it_o away_o with_o biss_v and_o so_o more_o sound_o cleave_v and_o stick_v to_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o his_o word_n 1_o this_o doctrine_n of_o the_o papist_n concern_v doubt_v of_o god_n grace_n our_o own_o salvation_n etc._n etc._n be_v first_o direct_o contrary_a to_o two_o sort_n of_o testimony_n contain_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n or_o write_n of_o god_n the_o first_o sort_n be_v of_o they_o that_o do_v manifest_o and_o &_o plain_o instruct_v we_o concern_v the_o assuredness_n of_o faith_n and_o the_o certainty_n confidency_n and_o boldness_n of_o believer_n show_v also_o withal_o that_o by_o faith_n and_o the_o sound_a fruit_n thereof_o we_o may_v safe_o judge_v and_o determine_v concern_v election_n special_o our_o own_o the_o second_o sort_n be_v of_o they_o in_o which_o god_n himself_o by_o his_o word_n and_o spirit_n have_v sharp_o reproove_v and_o just_o condemn_v doubt_v concern_v himself_o his_o goodness_n power_n word_n &_o promise_n therein_o contain_v to_o put_v down_o all_o the_o particular_a place_n of_o both_o kind_n in_o the_o very_a word_n of_o the_o text_n will_v be_v tedious_a and_o indeed_o unnecessary_a because_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o word_n stand_v not_o in_o the_o multitude_n and_o conformity_n of_o place_n but_o upon_o god_n and_o that_o sufficient_a credit_n in_o itself_o that_o god_n have_v give_v to_o it_o notwithstanding_o we_o will_v touch_v some_o and_o by_o quotation_n only_o refer_v the_o godly_a and_o studious_a reader_n to_o the_o the_o rest_n that_o we_o think_v meet_v for_o this_o purpose_n and_o to_o his_o continual_a read_n of_o the_o word_n
