this_o stone_n this_o seal_n shall_v assure_v they_o of_o absolute_a acquittance_n from_o condemnation_n and_o so_o free_v they_o of_o the_o cause_n of_o fear_n again_o he_o tell_v we_o christ_n will_v give_v a_o man_n a_o new_a name_n that_o be_v write_v his_o absolution_n in_o fair_a letter_n in_o the_o white_a stone_n with_o a_o clear_a evidence_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v when_o christ_n have_v see_v a_o man_n overcome_v and_o how_o he_o have_v conflict_v with_o tentation_n and_o yet_o hold_v out_o press_v for_o the_o crown_n unto_o the_o end_n of_o the_o race_n christ_n will_v come_v in_o then_o and_o stroke_n he_o on_o the_o head_n ease_v he_o of_o all_o his_o pain_n and_o sore_n with_o such_o a_o sweet_a refresh_v as_o be_v unspeakable_a when_o a_o man_n have_v win_v it_o he_o show_v he_o then_o shall_v wear_v it_o three_o if_o the_o spirit_n seal_v after_o meditation_n on_o the_o word_n it_o be_v right_a the_o apostle_n say_v in_o who_o after_o that_o you_o believe_v you_o be_v seal_v etc._n etc._n examine_v the_o root_n of_o this_o joy_n the_o spirit_n give_v no_o comfort_n but_o by_o the_o word_n if_o a_o man_n do_v meditate_v on_o the_o promise_n and_o thereupon_o have_v a_o flame_n of_o love_n kindle_v this_o be_v sure_a a_o man_n may_v say_v the_o word_n do_v stir_v it_o up_o if_o it_o be_v god_n comfort_n god_n will_v have_v his_o word_n to_o make_v way_n unto_o it_o some_o there_o be_v who_o find_v no_o sweetness_n in_o the_o word_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n thereof_o because_o they_o chew_v not_o the_o word_n to_o imprint_v it_o on_o their_o memory_n and_o in_o their_o heart_n if_o comfort_n come_v whilst_o a_o man_n meditate_v on_o the_o promise_n do_v wedge_n it_o home_o upon_o his_o heart_n it_o be_v of_o god_n otherwise_o it_o be_v counterfeit_n and_o false_a these_o be_v the_o forerunner_n to_o this_o seal_n in_o the_o next_o place_n there_o be_v three_o thing_n that_o follow_v after_o this_o seal_n which_o the_o spirit_n leave_v behind_o it_o as_o first_o humility_n as_o in_o his_o knowledge_n so_o in_o his_o sense_n it_o make_v a_o man_n more_o humble_a there_o be_v natural_o in_o all_o a_o certain_a pride_n which_o must_v be_v overcome_v say_v the_o apostle_n what_o have_v thou_o that_o thou_o have_v not_o receive_v but_o by_o the_o contrary_a the_o near_o a_o man_n come_v unto_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n he_o find_v so_o much_o the_o more_o rottenness_n in_o his_o bone_n as_o we_o see_v in_o job_n i_o have_v hear_v of_o thou_o say_v he_o unto_o god_n by_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o ear_n but_o now_o my_o eye_n see_v thou_o his_o inference_n be_v therefore_o i_o abhor_v myself_o and_o repent_v in_o dust_n and_o ash_n second_o another_o thing_n the_o spirit_n leave_v behind_o it_o if_o it_o seal_v right_o be_v a_o prevention_n of_o security_n for_o time_n to_o come_v in_o this_o case_n we_o must_v look_v for_o a_o new_a encounter_n a_o false_a persuasion_n make_v a_o man_n to_o fall_v into_o image_n who_o because_o he_o can_v reach_v he_o persecute_v in_o his_o member_n and_o therefore_o in_o this_o case_n it_o must_v be_v with_o we_o as_o it_o be_v with_o elias_n 1_o king_n 10.8_o after_o such_o a_o enlighten_v a_o man_n must_v now_o think_v that_o he_o have_v a_o great_a journey_n to_o go_v and_o so_o walk_v on_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o that_o a_o long_a time_n the_o devil_n we_o see_v watch_v a_o man_n and_o when_o he_o be_v at_o the_o best_a than_o endeavour_n to_o overcome_v he_o as_o we_o may_v see_v in_o adam_n and_o eve_n no_o soon_o be_v they_o place_v in_o that_o estate_n of_o innocency_n but_o he_o tempt_v they_o how_o much_o more_o a_o man_n have_v a_o sweet_a taste_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o less_o strength_n now_o may_v he_o look_v to_o be_v set_v upon_o and_o therefore_o in_o these_o feast_n day_n he_o have_v need_n to_o be_v more_o on_o his_o watch_n and_o pray_v more_o for_o we_o have_v more_o give_v we_o then_o adam_n have_v we_o have_v a_o new_a name_n give_v we_o a_o secret_a love_n token_n further_o we_o see_v christ_n say_v rev._n 3_o behold_v i_o stand_v at_o the_o door_n and_o knock_n if_o any_o man_n will_v open_v unto_o i_o i_o will_v come_v in_o and_o sup_v with_o he_o and_o he_o with_o i_o now_o in_o this_o case_n if_o we_o be_v such_o person_n who_o let_v our_o heart_n fly_v open_a to_o let_v he_o in_o we_o be_v safe_a who_o be_v enemy_n be_v once_o bring_v to_o keep_v company_n together_o and_o to_o eat_v and_o drink_v one_o with_o another_o we_o use_v to_o say_v all_o be_v do_v and_o wrap_v up_o in_o the_o table_n cloth_n all_o old_a reckon_n be_v take_v away_o now_o they_o be_v certain_o become_v friend_n but_o if_o like_o the_o spouse_n in_o the_o canticle_n we_o let_v he_o stand_v knock_v and_o will_v not_o let_v he_o in_o we_o also_o may_v have_v great_a and_o sound_a knock_n and_o blow_v ourselves_o before_o we_o find_v he_o again_o as_o we_o read_v it_o befall_v the_o church_n there_o who_o the_o watchman_n find_v beat_v and_o take_v away_o her_o veil_n as_o she_o be_v seek_v
walk_v or_o speak_v or_o do_v any_o act_n of_o a_o live_a man_n so_o these_o can_v do_v the_o action_n of_o man_n that_o be_v quicken_v and_o enliven_v they_o can_v pray_v with_o the_o spirit_n they_o can_v love_v god_n etc._n etc._n they_o can_v do_v those_o thing_n that_o shall_v be_v do_v hereafter_o in_o heaven_n there_o be_v not_o one_o good_a duty_n which_o this_o natural_a man_n can_v do_v if_o it_o shall_v be_v say_v unto_o he_o think_v but_o one_o good_a thought_n and_o for_o it_o thou_o shall_v go_v to_o heaven_n he_o can_v not_o think_v it_o till_o god_n raise_v he_o from_o the_o sink_n of_o sin_n as_o he_o do_v lazarus_n from_o the_o grave_n he_o can_v do_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v well_o please_v unto_o god_n he_o may_v do_v the_o work_n of_o a_o moral_a man_n but_o to_o do_v the_o work_n of_o a_o man_n quicken_v and_o enlighten_v it_o be_v beyond_o his_o power_n for_o if_o he_o can_v do_v so_o he_o must_v then_o have_v some_o reward_n from_o god_n for_o however_o we_o deny_v the_o merit_n of_o good_a work_n yet_o we_o deny_v not_o the_o reward_n of_o good_a work_n to_o a_o man_n that_o be_v in_o christ._n there_o be_v no_o proportionable_a merit_n in_o a_o cup_n of_o cold_a water_n and_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n yet_o he_o that_o give_v a_o cup_n of_o cold_a water_n to_o a_o disciple_n in_o the_o name_n of_o a_o disciple_n shall_v not_o lose_v his_o reward_n here_o then_o be_v the_o point_n the_o best_a that_o a_o natural_a man_n do_v can_v so_o relish_v with_o god_n as_o that_o he_o shall_v take_v delight_n in_o it_o or_o reward_v it_o god_n whereas_o the_o least_o good_a thing_n that_o come_v from_o another_o root_n from_o a_o quicken_v spirit_n be_v acceptable_a and_o well_o please_v to_o he_o consider_v for_o this_o end_n that_o which_o be_v set_v down_o prov._n 15.8_o tâ—ke_v the_o best_a work_n of_o a_o natural_a man_n his_o prayer_n or_o sacrifice_n and_o see_v there_o what_o be_v say_v the_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o may_v be_v firm_a in_o heaven_n and_o yet_o perhaps_o be_v so_o blur_v that_o thou_o can_v not_o read_v they_o and_o therefore_o if_o thou_o will_v get_v they_o clear_v again_o thou_o must_v go_v to_o god_n by_o prayer_n and_o renew_v they_o again_o so_o that_o whether_o our_o evidence_n be_v blur_v or_o whether_o it_o be_v that_o god_n will_v make_v we_o possess_v the_o iniquity_n of_o our_o youth_n it_o be_v necessary_a to_o pray_v for_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o those_o sin_n which_o have_v be_v before_o forgive_v but_o now_o you_o will_v say_v when_o i_o have_v sin_v afterward_o how_o comfort_n of_o the_o soul._n now_o a_o waste_a sin_n it_o stop_v the_o passage_n of_o faith_n it_o can_v act_v till_o it_o be_v open_v by_o repentance_n physician_n give_v instance_n for_o it_o those_o that_o have_v apoplexy_n epilepsy_n and_o the_o fall_v sickness_n be_v think_v to_o be_v dead_a for_o the_o time_n as_o it_o be_v with_o eutichus_n yet_o say_v saint_n paul_n his_o spirit_n be_v in_o he_o act._n 20.13_o every_o one_o think_v he_o dead_a yet_o his_o spirit_n be_v in_o he_o however_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o operation_n of_o his_o sense_n it_o do_v appear_v he_o be_v dead_a so_o if_o thou_o be_v a_o careless_a man_n and_o look_v not_o to_o thy_o watch_n and_o to_o thy_o guard_n but_o be_v overtake_v in_o some_o gross_a and_o grievous_a sin_n thou_o be_v take_v sin_n be_v remove_v now_o what_o be_v repentance_n why_o it_o clear_v the_o passage_n that_o though_o faith_n can_v 〈◊〉_d before_o yet_o now_o it_o give_v he_o disposition_n unto_o it_o as_o a_o man_n
