have_v the_o bag_n and_o be_v a_o thief_n the_o more_o he_o have_v to_o row_v in_o the_o more_o bold_a he_o may_v make_v with_o it_o and_o it_o will_v the_o less_o be_v miss_v but_o his_o paint_n be_v so_o exact_a and_o so_o near_o the_o life_n that_o the_o disciple_n take_v he_o to_o be_v as_o real_a as_o themselves_o any_o of_o they_o rather_o suspect_v themselves_o then_o he_o his_o heart_n be_v indeed_o have_v that_o private_a action_n and_o falsehood_n of_o ananias_n reveal_v 5._o to_o he_o and_o from_o thence_o he_o conclude_v satan_n have_v fill_v his_o heart_n in_o that_o he_o lie_v against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n but_o what_o be_v this_o to_o the_o search_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o this_o that_o be_v reveal_v be_v but_o for_o a_o act_n now_o and_o then_o in_o act_n 10._o he_o know_v not_o that_o there_o be_v man_n send_v for_o he_o from_o cornelius_n until_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n tell_v he_o and_o reveal_v it_o to_o he_o so_o that_o he_o have_v not_o that_o knowledge_n which_o he_o have_v of_o secret_a thing_n not_o make_v know_v in_o a_o ordinary_a way_n by_o sense_n he_o have_v it_o not_o habitual_o but_o by_o several_a act_n or_o if_o they_o have_v such_o a_o spirit_n which_o none_o can_v prove_v they_o do_v not_o act_v by_o it_o in_o admit_v person_n for_o then_o such_o as_o those_o will_v never_o have_v be_v admit_v yea_o 3._o if_o the_o church_n have_v such_o a_o spirit_n it_o be_v very_o likely_a she_o be_v not_o to_o act_v by_o it_o in_o admission_n for_o our_o saviour_n himself_o though_o he_o know_v who_o he_o â—ad_v choose_v and_o know_v from_o the_o beginning_n who_o shall_v betray_v he_o yet_o he_o do_v admit_v he_o that_o he_o know_v will_v prove_v a_o devil_n and_o therefore_o he_o act_v therein_o according_a to_o his_o humanity_n and_o to_o leave_v we_o a_o pattern_n that_o though_o we_o may_v suspect_v happy_o such_o or_o such_o a_o person_n and_o not_o savour_v they_o according_a to_o that_o discern_v which_o god_n have_v give_v have_v a_o abundant_a entrance_n into_o the_o everlasting_a kingdom_n the_o strength_n of_o a_o building_n you_o know_v lie_v not_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o one_o piece_n but_o in_o the_o due_a act_v they_o all_o and_o temperance_n and_o heavenly-mindedness_a etc._n etc._n and_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o as_o each_o grace_n do_v grow_v by_o the_o exercise_v of_o itself_o so_o by_o the_o exercise_v of_o they_o all_o they_o will_v have_v a_o mutual_a influence_n each_o upon_o the_o other_o to_o strengthen_v one_o another_o the_o act_n of_o faith_n will_v strengthen_v the_o act_n of_o love_n and_o that_o will_v strengthen_v faith_n again_o and_o so_o for_o the_o rest_n three_o if_o you_o will_v grow_v in_o grace_n you_o must_v be_v much_o in_o prayer_n for_o a_o man_n of_o much_o prayer_n be_v a_o man_n of_o much_o grace_n and_o therefore_o the_o prophet_n put_v they_o both_o together_o he_o will_v pour_v out_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n and_o supplication_n 10._o and_o so_o may_v skin_n over_o the_o wound_n but_o it_o heal_v not_o and_o miserable_a be_v the_o condition_n of_o poor_a creature_n so_o delude_v but_o now_o they_o that_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n and_o learn_v they_o learn_v this_o effectual_o and_o practical_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o creature_n that_o can_v do_v it_o four_o they_o learn_v this_o also_o that_o though_o all_o the_o world_n be_v love_n but_o as_o a_o cloud_n without_o rain_n when_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o fire_n a_o well_o without_o water_n a_o break_a cistern_n that_o leak_v out_o all_o a_o torrent_n a_o brook_n that_o be_v dry_v up_o when_o the_o soul_n be_v parch_v and_o burn_v up_o with_o the_o scorch_a heat_n of_o the_o displeasure_n of_o god_n o_o when_o the_o lord_n set_v a_o soul_n in_o his_o sight_n and_o look_n upon_o he_o as_o a_o consume_a fire_n with_o his_o eye_n as_o a_o flame_a fire_n ready_a with_o a_o 4._o sight_n of_o he_o to_o devour_v he_o and_o he_o can_v get_v out_o of_o his_o sight_n o_o to_o all_o that_o whosoever_o be_v wound_v though_o never_o so_o desperate_o whosoever_o be_v sick_a unto_o the_o death_n one_o of_o the_o stone_n another_o of_o the_o gout_n another_o of_o the_o plague_n i_o will_v cure_v you_o all_o o_o then_o if_o poor_a creature_n do_v believe_v this_o be_v persuade_v of_o it_o they_o will_v come_v and_o not_o before_o o_o say_v one_o i_o be_v a_o plague_n sore_o and_o it_o be_v past_a cure_n i_o be_v a_o hereditary_a disease_n say_v another_o and_o so_o far_o go_v i_o can_v be_v cure_v they_o come_v not_o and_o perish_v o_o my_o be_v such_o a_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n when_o he_o have_v so_o open_v the_o eye_n of_o a_o hagar_n to_o see_v the_o fountain_n open_v that_o be_v near_o she_o before_o but_o she_o see_v it_o not_o and_o let_v we_o see_v that_o our_o bottle_n be_v dry_v up_o and_o all_o other_o hope_n in_o the_o creature_n perish_v than_o i_o say_v the_o spirit_n incline_v the_o will_n to_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n then_o he_o work_v sweet_o though_o strong_o a_o inclination_n a_o desire_n after_o he_o it_o be_v not_o in_o these_o thing_n as_o in_o nature_n a_o ordinary_a providence_n concur_v with_o it_o be_v not_o in_o we_o to_o be_v have_v and_o see_v there_o be_v a_o fountain_n open_v yet_o such_o be_v the_o waywardness_n of_o our_o heart_n yea_o such_o the_o enmity_n in_o our_o heart_n against_o the_o lord_n jesus_n though_o the_o stream_n of_o his_o love_n towards_o we_o be_v as_o strong_a as_o death_n that_o we_o will_v not_o yet_o come_v to_o he_o we_o have_v rather_o sit_v down_o as_o you_o see_v some_o sullen_a creature_n take_v from_o their_o dam_n will_v rather_o perish_v then_o receive_v food_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o man_n such_o a_o indisposition_n and_o ordinance_n and_o everywhere_o the_o desire_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v for_o jesus_n christ_n this_o be_v a_o come_n for_o the_o affection_n be_v to_o the_o soul_n as_o the_o foot_n to_o the_o body_n that_o which_o carry_v the_o soul_n in_o and_o out_o in_o all_o to_o this_o object_n or_o from_o that_o object_n o_o then_o when_o shall_v i_o come_v and_o appear_v before_o he_o second_o in_o this_o come_n to_o christ_n be_v include_v a_o pass_v all_o other_o stand_v and_o rest_v on_o this_o side_n jesus_n christ_n many_o a_o poor_a soul_n come_v near_o to_o christ_n and_o to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o fall_v short_a of_o he_o as_o a_o arrow_n not_o draw_v up_o to_o the_o head_n fall_v short_a of_o the_o mark_n and_o there_o it_o stick_v where_o it_o fasten_v go_v no_o further_a so_o here_o some_o upon_o their_o conviction_n the_o discovery_n of_o their_o condition_n run_v to_o this_o ordinance_n to_o that_o to_o this_o duty_n to_o that_o as_o thing_n that_o of_o themselves_o as_o performance_n shall_v give_v rest_n to_o they_o and_o
judas_n when_o he_o plead_v for_o the_o poor_a yet_o alas_o god_n know_v the_o bottom_n of_o the_o business_n but_o i_o say_v they_o make_v such_o a_o profession_n now_o when_o they_o fall_v asleep_a cast_v off_o the_o way_n of_o god_n worship_n the_o great_a apostasy_n of_o our_o time_n now_o i_o say_v this_o be_v alike_o dishonourable_a to_o god_n but_o it_o be_v not_o alike_o dangerous_a for_o the_o one_o he_o sleep_v and_o his_o sleep_n prove_v the_o sleep_n of_o death_n as_o the_o foolish_a virgin_n do_v for_o though_o they_o be_v rouse_v with_o the_o cry_n conscience_n be_v a_o wake_v it_o may_v be_v yet_o their_o heart_n be_v never_o rouse_v up_o out_o of_o their_o sleep_n they_o be_v deadhearted_n from_o the_o beginning_n and_o so_o they_o remain_v they_o never_o do_v arise_v from_o the_o dead_a that_o christ_n may_v give_v they_o life_n the_o one_o when_o he_o wake_v have_v 14._o neither_o oil_n nor_o lamp_n neither_o reality_n nor_o profession_n the_o other_o have_v both_o though_o the_o lamp_n want_v trime_a there_o be_v not_o that_o lively_a expression_n of_o christ_n in_o their_o conversation_n as_o shall_v be_v and_o therefore_o the_o light_n need_v snuff_v then_o consider_v brethren_n that_o if_o once_o we_o fall_v asleep_a we_o lose_v our_o discern_a between_o good_a and_o evil_n in_o a_o great_a measure_n the_o saint_n that_o be_v of_o experience_n they_o have_v their_o fence_n exercise_v to_o discern_v between_o 14._o good_a and_o evil_n you_o may_v happy_o wake_v in_o your_o sleep_n but_o your_o eye_n be_v shut_v brethren_n and_o it_o be_v a_o wonder_n of_o mercy_n if_o you_o do_v not_o dash_v yourselves_o to_o piece_n upon_o this_o rock_n of_o offence_n or_o that_o rock_n of_o offence_n this_o stone_n of_o stumble_v etc._n etc._n as_o man_n in_o their_o sleep_n sometime_o will_v get_v up_o and_o climb_v indeed_o to_o the_o top_n of_o the_o house_n and_o be_v they_o not_o in_o great_a danger_n of_o break_v their_o neck_n will_v you_o not_o pity_v such_o a_o man_n o_o such_o be_v the_o condition_n of_o a_o child_n of_o god_n that_o have_v a_o sleepy_a soul_n a_o soul_n in_o a_o deep_a sleep_n thou_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o judge_v evil_a good_a and_o good_a evil_n jonah_n his_o soul_n be_v 49._o asleep_a that_o sin_n of_o his_o lay_v he_o asleep_o though_o a_o good_a man_n and_o do_v you_o not_o know_v how_o sad_o he_o in_o a_o sleep_n he_o can_v discern_v between_o the_o chance_n of_o war_n and_o downright_a murder_n between_o show_v kindness_n to_o his_o faithful_a servant_n one_o of_o his_o worthy_n in_o israel_n and_o make_v his_o neighbour_n drink_v a_o sad_a condition_n asa_n in_o such_o a_o time_n when_o he_o be_v asleep_a as_o appear_v clear_o a_o little_a before_o his_o 10._o sai_z be_v lively_a and_o he_o can_v rely_v upon_o god_n for_o the_o ruin_n of_o the_o ethiopian_n lybian_o yet_o now_o he_o rely_v upon_o benhadad_n king_n of_o syria_n to_o help-him_a against_o the_o king_n of_o israel_n even_o bassa_n he_o be_v asleep_o sure_a that_o forsake_v god_n to_o rely_v upon_o a_o enemy_n and_o take_v such_o a_o evil_a course_n to_o wish_v he_o to_o break_v his_o covenant_n then_o the_o lord_n send_v hanani_n the_o prophet_n tell_v he_o plain_o he_o have_v do_v very_o foolish_o he_o will_v not_o bear_v it_o he_o will_v not_o be_v rouse_v out_o of_o his_o sleep_n bring_v to_o brethren_n the_o passage_n between_o head_n and_o heart_n they_o be_v obstruct_v that_o nothing_o almost_o that_o he_o hear_v will_v awake_v he_o so_o david_n when_o he_o be_v asleep_a you_o see_v how_o sad_o he_o carry_v it_o he_o go_v to_o the_o ordinance_n questionless_a in_o the_o house_n of_o god_n from_o time_n to_o time_n or_o likely_a he_o do_v so_o and_o yet_o he_o lay_v in_o that_o condition_n for_o all_o that_o alas_o the_o word_n of_o god_n sink_v not_o with_o he_o at_o all_o you_o know_v you_o may_v call_v upon_o a_o sleepy_a person_n that_o be_v fast_o many_o time_n again_o and_o again_o and_o and_o he_o answer_v not_o or_o if_o it_o move_v he_o a_o little_a or_o stir_v he_o alas_o he_o understand_v it_o not_o he_o hear_v a_o sound_n which_o trouble_v he_o but_o he_o understand_v it_o not_o and_o so_o return_v to_o his_o rest_n again_o this_o be_v the_o very_a case_n of_o a_o poor_a soul_n asleep_o you_o hear_v indeed_o but_o as_o if_o you_o hear_v not_o as_o a_o man_n that_o have_v his_o mind_n take_v up_o with_o another_o thing_n he_o hear_v but_o he_o hee_v not_o so_o a_o poor_a soul_n asleep_o go_v from_o ordinance_n to_o ordinance_n from_o sermon_n to_o to_o sermon_n and_o hear_v but_o the_o word_n stick_v in_o the_o ear_n it_o reach_v not_o the_o heart_n ordinary_o and_o be_v not_o this_o sad_a brethren_n who_o will_v willing_o be_v in_o this_o condition_n that_o know_v what_o it_o be_v to_o have_v a_o fellowship_n with_o god_n heart-communion_n with_o god_n in_o his_o ordinance_n 3._o another_o motive_n may_v be_v this_o the_o poor_a service_n god_n be_v like_a to_o have_v from_o we_o then_o when_o we_o be_v asleep_a some_o indeed_o he_o may_v have_v but_o it_o will_v be_v so_o poor_a as_o if_o none_o at_o all_o what_o kind_n of_o service_n will_v that_o man_n do_v his_o master_n that_o be_v ready_a to_o drop_v asleep_o every_o step_n he_o go_v as_o david_n what_o service_n do_v he_o do_v the_o lord_n while_o he_o lie_v in_o
