rehearse_v the_o cause_n of_o many_o foul_a sin_n in_o the_o gentile_n which_o cause_n be_v these_o namely_o the_o vanity_n of_o their_o mind_n the_o blindness_n of_o their_o understanding_n and_o the_o hardness_n of_o their_o heart_n so_o in_o this_o place_n he_o set_v flat_o against_o all_o these_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n alove_o and_o further_o avouch_v that_o the_o same_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o lead_v a_o godly_a and_o a_o honest_a life_n this_o knowledge_n therefore_o of_o christ_n ought_v to_o breed_v in_o we_o a_o other_o manner_n of_o live_v than_o be_v in_o the_o gentile_n which_o be_v not_o yet_o to_o this_o day_n turn_v unto_o god_n by_o and_o through_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o this_o effectual_a &_o forceable_a knowledge_n of_o christ_n what_o do_v assent_n of_o truth_n but_o also_o the_o action_n which_o follow_v the_o assent_n by_o the_o figure_n synecdoche_n much_o use_v in_o hebrew_n this_o place_n therefore_o be_v diligent_o to_o be_v mark_v which_o teach_v that_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n or_o of_o the_o gospel_n be_v but_o vain_a unless_o we_o have_v join_v therewithal_o such_o manner_n as_o be_v worthy_a of_o christ_n and_o the_o gospel_n for_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o gospel_n stand_v not_o upon_o a_o naked_a contemplation_n or_o gaze_v at_o thing_n not_o in_o idle_a disputation_n &c_n &c_n but_o in_o the_o and_o to_o put_v on_o the_o new_a man_n the_o first_o part_n therefore_o be_v the_o put_v off_o of_o the_o old_a man_n the_o old_a man_n signify_v not_o the_o substance_n but_o the_o quality_n namely_o vice_n and_o corruption_n &_o all_o custom_n of_o sin_v according_a to_o the_o conversation_n of_o old_a this_o custom_n of_o sin_v s._n paul_n will_v have_v all_o christian_n to_o put_v off_o that_o the_o rule_n and_o government_n of_o the_o spirit_n may_v be_v effectual_a and_o full_a of_o which_o thing_n he_o show_v the_o cause_n which_o be_v corrupt_a through_o the_o concupiscence_n of_o error_n that_o be_v to_o say_v who_o deceivable_a lust_n do_v corrupt_a while_o they_o draw_v man_n into_o corruption_n and_o destruction_n whosoever_o therefore_o desire_v to_o escape_v destruction_n and_o utter_a undoo_n let_v he_o put_v off_o the_o old_a man_n now_o the_o old_a man_n be_v then_o say_v to_o be_v put_v off_o when_o the_o body_n of_o sin_n be_v weaken_v and_o
