that_o raise_v up_o christ_n from_o the_o dead_a shall_v also_o quicken_v your_o mortal_a body_n by_o his_o spirit_n that_o dwell_v in_o you_o therefore_o as_o i_o say_v before_o it_o be_v no_o arrogancy_n for_o the_o people_n of_o god_n to_o own_o that_o they_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n dwell_v in_o they_o for_o it_o be_v not_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n nor_o the_o dictate_v of_o so_o as_o to_o cause_v we_o to_o put_v on_o the_o new_a man_n christ_n jesus_n which_o after_o god_n be_v create_v in_o righteousness_n and_o true_a holiness_n and_o so_o old_a thing_n be_v make_v to_o pass_v away_o behold_v all_o thing_n be_v become_v new_a lo_o here_o be_v a_o new_a creature_n as_o there_o be_v a_o put_v off_o the_o old_a man_n with_o his_o deed_n there_o be_v a_o pass_v away_o of_o the_o first_o heaven_n and_o the_o first_o earth_n and_o then_o behold_v new_a heaven_n and_o a_o new_a earth_n wherein_o dwell_v righteousness_n as_o there_o be_v a_o come_n to_o this_o law_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o life_n in_o christ_n jesus_n which_o law_n be_v inward_a write_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o engrave_v on_o the_o inward_a part_n there_o be_v a_o set_v free_a from_o the_o faithful_a be_v he_o that_o have_v promise_v who_o also_o will_v do_v it_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o redeem_v we_o from_o all_o iniquity_n wherefore_o let_v we_o hope_v in_o his_o word_n and_o not_o only_o in_o degree_n of_o discovery_n for_o this_o spirit_n be_v a_o spirit_n of_o wisdom_n and_o revelation_n in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o jesus_n christ_n which_o open_v and_o enlighten_v the_o eye_n shall_v not_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o any_o other_o prophet_n but_o here_o i_o must_v obviate_v a_o objection_n before_o i_o can_v proceed_v possible_o some_o may_v ask_v i_o why_o then_o do_v those_o people_n that_o thou_o be_v now_o go_v among_o keep_v up_o their_o public_a meeting_n to_o preach_v and_o to_o teach_v people_n the_o way_n of_o salvation_n what_o need_n be_v there_o of_o their_o teach_v if_o every_o one_o have_v a_o teacher_n in_o they_o able_a to_o instruct_v they_o in_o the_o way_n to_o the_o kingdom_n to_o who_o i_o answer_v first_o though_o i_o do_v say_v as_o warn_v before_o it_o be_v too_o late_a and_o therefore_o do_v they_o lift_v up_o their_o voice_n like_o a_o trumpet_n to_o sound_v a_o retreat_n to_o the_o inhabitant_n of_o the_o earth_n who_o be_v without_o the_o spiritual_a city_n of_o resuge_n that_o they_o may_v return_v in_o time_n and_o lie_v hold_v of_o the_o horn_n of_o the_o heavenly_a altar_n and_o get_v into_o the_o habitation_n or_o tower_n of_o safety_n before_o the_o enemy_n of_o their_o soul_n take_v the_o strong_a hold_n of_o their_o heart_n and_o sortifie_v himself_o against_o they_o and_o keep_v they_o without_o the_o gate_n till_o the_o avenger_n of_o blood_n who_o once_o will_v have_v have_v mercy_n on_o they_o pursue_v and_o overtake_v they_o and_o so_o they_o be_v destroy_v therefore_o rightglad_a be_v the_o of_o the_o evil_a of_o their_o way_n and_o the_o error_n of_o their_o do_n who_o instead_o of_o walk_v in_o the_o straight_a and_o norrow_o way_n of_o righteousness_n which_o lead_v to_o everlasting_a life_n be_v go_v on_o in_o the_o broad_a way_n of_o sin_n and_o wickedness_n which_o lead_v down_o to_o the_o chamber_n of_o death_n that_o so_o they_o may_v be_v persuade_v to_o leave_v off_o the_o weapon_n of_o their_o rebellion_n wherewith_o they_o fight_v against_o god_n and_o wound_v their_o own_o soul_n and_o submit_v themselves_o unto_o his_o ambassador_n of_o peace_n the_o spirit_n of_o his_o son_n in_o their_o conscience_n that_o true_a balm_n of_o giliead_n with_o which_o they_o may_v be_v heal_v three_o that_o i_o may_v be_v right_o understand_v let_v i_o acquaint_v my_o reader_n neither_o do_v i_o assert_v that_o those_o who_o be_v set_v out_o as_o traveller_n in_o zion_n ride_v be_v at_o once_o so_o perfect_o instruct_v in_o all_o the_o path_n thereof_o that_o they_o need_v of_o the_o deal_n of_o the_o lord_n with_o themselves_o in_o day_n that_o be_v past_a and_o for_o the_o comfort_v and_o refresh_v of_o their_o spirit_n to_o feel_v how_o the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n prosper_v in_o other_o of_o his_o people_n and_o for_o the_o clear_n and_o make_v glad_a their_o heart_n to_o hear_v how_o truth_n prevail_v and_o get_v ground_n in_o the_o earth_n this_o therefore_o be_v the_o end_n of_o all_o declaration_n among_o we_o viz._n that_o the_o ignorant_a may_v be_v instruct_v that_o gainsayers_a may_v be_v convince_v that_o the_o weak_a may_v be_v confirm_v and_o that_o the_o strong_a may_v be_v consolate_v therefore_o do_v our_o minister_n labour_n in_o the_o word_n and_o doctrine_n to_o convert_v sinner_n to_o christ_n jesus_n the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o to_o build_v up_o saint_n in_o their_o most_o holy_a faith_n and_o to_o edify_v one_o another_o in_o love_n thus_o much_o in_o answer_n to_o the_o objection_n so_o i_o return_v to_o the_o point_n in_o hand_n which_o be_v further_o to_o demonstrate_v as_o the_o lord_n shall_v enable_v i_o what_o this_o principle_n be_v that_o be_v preach_v up_o among_o we_o it_o be_v that_o divine_a principle_n of_o life_n which_o bring_v the_o glad-tiding_n of_o salvation_n near_o unto_o all_o by_o which_o they_o may_v be_v put_v into_o a_o capacity_n of_o receive_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o the_o gift_n thereof_o which_o he_o have_v purpose_v in_o the_o appearance_n of_o the_o son_n of_o his_o love_n to_o bestow_v upon_o as_o many_o as_o shall_v believe_v this_o be_v the_o everlasting_a gospel_n ministry_n of_o which_o they_o turn_v people_n from_o darkness_n to_o light_n and_o from_o the_o power_n of_o satan_n unto_o god_n that_o they_o may_v receive_v forgiveness_n of_o sin_n and_o inheritance_n among_o they_o that_o be_v sanctify_v through_o faith_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n see_v act_n 26._o 18._o thus_o these_o profit_n their_o hearer_n and_o so_o do_v not_o only_o that_o god_n be_v please_v to_o save_v they_o that_o believe_v as_o it_o be_v write_v 1_o cor._n 1.21_o so_o notwithstanding_o these_o use_v not_o entice_v word_n which_o man_n wisdom_n teach_v yet_o do_v they_o preach_v in_o the_o evidence_n and_o demonstration_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o in_o a_o way_n of_o power_n whereby_o they_o be_v know_v to_o be_v of_o god_n as_o be_v the_o apostle_n see_v 1_o cor._n 2._o 1_o 4._o and_o the_o tendency_n of_o their_o ministry_n be_v to_o direct_v people_n to_o the_o teach_v of_o christ_n
assure_v of_o it_o not_o only_o from_o their_o own_o witness_n of_o themselves_o but_o from_o the_o witness_n of_o god_n in_o my_o own_o breast_n they_o do_v believe_v all_o thing_n that_o be_v write_v in_o the_o law_n and_o the_o prophet_n so_o that_o those_o which_o do_v so_o clamorous_o charge_v they_o can_v prove_v the_o thing_n whereof_o they_o so_o much_o accuse_v they_o but_o than_o it_o have_v be_v reply_v viz._n they_o own_o the_o scripture_n indeed_o but_o it_o be_v in_o their_o own_o way_n they_o believe_v they_o as_o they_o do_v a_o moral_a history_n just_o bare_o give_v credit_n to_o they_o own_v that_o they_o be_v truth_n but_o they_o do_v not_o believe_v they_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o rule_n of_o faith_n and_o life_n as_o to_o this_o i_o answer_v they_o do_v believe_v the_o scripture_n so_o far_o as_o scripture_n itself_o require_v faith_n in_o itself_o that_o be_v that_o they_o be_v able_a to_o make_v wise_a unto_o salvation_n through_o faith_n which_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n be_v give_v by_o inspiration_n of_o god_n according_a to_o that_o of_o the_o apostle_n 2_o tim._n 3._o 15_o 16._o and_o they_o do_v also_o believe_v that_o this_o same_o jesus_n here_o speak_v of_o who_o be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o messenger_n of_o the_o covenant_n mal._n 3._o 1._o the_o same_o and_o not_o another_o do_v inspire_v his_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n in_o write_v of_o the_o scripture_n but_o still_o he_o be_v the_o word_n as_o well_o as_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o father_n and_o i_o ask_v where_o do_v the_o scripture_n themselves_o declare_v any_o other_o where_o do_v they_o say_v that_o they_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o the_o rule_n of_o faith_n and_o life_n though_o i_o have_v hear_v it_o say_v that_o the_o prophet_n isaiah_n jeremiah_n ezekiel_n etc._n etc._n often_o call_v their_o prophecy_n by_o the_o name_n of_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n which_o say_v some_o be_v all_o one_o if_o we_o say_v the_o word_n of_o god_n now_o such_o i_o will_v advise_v to_o take_v a_o second_o view_n of_o the_o text_n and_o then_o they_o may_v find_v that_o the_o prophet_n do_v not_o call_v their_o prophecy_n and_o write_n the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n for_o they_o be_v the_o lord_n word_n he_o be_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n who_o reveal_v their_o prophecy_n unto_o they_o as_o for_o instance_n ezek._n 29._o 1._o say_v the_o prophet_n there_o in_o the_o ten_o year_n in_o the_o ten_o month_n in_o the_o twelve_o day_n of_o the_o month_n come_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n unto_o i_o say_v etc._n etc._n so_o than_o it_o be_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o come_v and_o say_v unto_o he_o the_o prophecy_n be_v that_o which_o he_o say_v so_o in_o jeremiah_n chap._n 7._o v._n 1_o etc._n etc._n old_a christ_n within_o we_o hereby_o a_o sure_a hope_n of_o eternal_a glory_n be_v give_v to_o we_o however_o we_o do_v not_o conclude_v christ_n in_o ourselves_o only_o but_o we_o say_v a_o measure_n of_o his_o light_n in_o order_n to_o show_v the_o way_n of_o life_n every_o man_n be_v or_o have_v be_v enlighten_v with_o nor_o yet_o do_v we_o include_v he_o in_o the_o fleshly_a temple_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n heart_n so_o as_o to_o exclude_v he_o from_o be_v any_o where_o else_o but_o as_o we_o know_v his_o presence_n fill_v heaven_n and_o earth_n so_o we_o believe_v that_o notwithstanding_o his_o appearance_n in_o our_o heart_n he_o be_v continual_o at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o god_n at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o majesty_n on_o high_a ever_o live_v to_o make_v intercession_n call_v it_o the_o light_n of_o jesus_n the_o new_a covenant_n a_o light_n to_o lighten_v the_o gentile_n a_o rod_n a_o staff_n a_o shepherd_n crook_n the_o word_n nigh_o in_o the_o heart_n and_o in_o the_o mouth_n the_o sure_a word_n of_o prophecy_n the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n a_o shield_n a_o buckler_n a_o strong_a tower_n the_o armour_n of_o righteousness_n all_o which_o be_v one_o in_o nature_n though_o diverse_o express_v according_a to_o its_o distinct_a operation_n in_o the_o soul_n as_o the_o creature_n stand_v in_o need_n sometime_o to_o lighten_v its_o darkness_n at_o other_o time_n to_o lead_v it_o in_o the_o way_n of_o holiness_n one_o while_o it_o instruct_v another_o while_o it_o correct_v sometime_o it_o counsel_n other_o time_n it_o consolate_v and_o as_o its_o counsel_n be_v heed_v and_o the_o soul_n guide_v by_o it_o it_o preserve_v and_o defend_v in_o all_o exigency_n and_o straits_n but_o i_o pass_v over_o its_o special_a use_n intend_v to_o show_v that_o in_o another_o place_n only_o here_o may_v be_v see_v the_o great_a condescension_n and_o matchless_a love_n of_o he_o who_o give_v unto_o all_o life_n and_o breath_n and_o be_v in_o that_o he_o have_v send_v the_o holy_a ghost_n down_o from_o heaven_n with_o the_o revelation_n of_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o child_n of_o man_n that_o whosoever_o adher_v to_o the_o spirit_n of_o his_o son_n within_o they_o may_v thereby_o know_v he_o not_o only_o as_o a_o saviour_n and_o redeemer_n but_o also_o to_o be_v their_o saviour_n and_o redeemer_n and_o that_o not_o only_o from_o the_o punishment_n but_o from_o the_o power_n and_o dominion_n of_o sin_n by_o set_v of_o they_o free_a from_o the_o bondage_n of_o corruption_n and_o bring_v they_o into_o the_o glorious_a liberty_n of_o his_o own_o child_n but_o as_o for_o such_o who_o will_v not_o believe_v in_o this_o principle_n of_o god_n but_o instead_o of_o own_v it_o as_o his_o power_n unto_o salvation_n say_v it_o be_v a_o satanical_a suggestion_n and_o instead_o of_o own_v it_o to_o be_v of_o the_o divine_a nature_n of_o god_n or_o christ_n they_o call_v it_o the_o dim_a light_n of_o create_a nature_n put_v bitter_a for_o sweet_a and_o sweet_a for_o bitter_a count_a darkness_n light_n and_o light_a darkness_n such_o may_v continue_v in_o their_o bondage_n and_o vassalage_n under_o the_o prince_n and_o power_n of_o darkness_n in_o the_o blindness_n of_o their_o mind_n hardness_n of_o their_o heart_n and_o deadness_n of_o their_o spirit_n notwithstanding_o freedom_n and_o nature_n and_o be_v of_o god_n himself_o who_o as_o he_o be_v a_o spirit_n so_o he_o be_v light_a as_o you_o may_v read_v concern_v he_o john_n 4._o 24._o 1_o john_n 1._o 5._o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v by_o his_o light_n with_o which_o we_o be_v enlighten_v it_o proceed_v from_o he_o he_o be_v the_o ocean_n wherein_o the_o fullness_n thereof_o be_v contain_v it_o be_v from_o he_o through_o his_o son_n christ_n jesus_n that_o we_o come_v to_o be_v enlight_v by_o the_o same_o so_o it_o be_v in_o his_o light_n that_o we_o see_v light_n even_o as_o the_o natural_a sun_n cause_v its_o beam_n yield_v thereunto_o into_o the_o nature_n of_o itself_o whereby_o a_o inward_a thorough_a and_o real_a redemption_n may_v be_v wrought_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o all_o man_n of_o what_o kindred_n
