and_o some_o in_o great_a fear_n of_o it_o because_o of_o the_o infection_n and_o some_o in_o great_a sorrow_n for_o the_o loss_n of_o their_o friend_n we_o know_v not_o neither_o can_v we_o their_o special_a trouble_n or_o what_o pain_n they_o have_v in_o their_o body_n what_o want_v of_o outward_a comfort_n what_o inward_a temptation_n of_o their_o mind_n yet_o let_v we_o pray_v for_o they_o church_n both_o the_o word_n and_o the_o sacrament_n be_v fruitful_a and_o of_o force_n to_o strengthen_v we_o therefore_o while_o we_o may_v we_o must_v use_v they_o also_o and_o make_v this_o account_n of_o they_o that_o by_o they_o we_o may_v get_v sufficient_a strength_n for_o all_o trouble_n that_o shall_v befall_v us._n and_o let_v we_o know_v assure_o that_o how_o much_o we_o have_v show_v by_o his_o deal_n in_o this_o matter_n between_o he_o and_o his_o enemy_n in_o the_o course_n of_o his_o providence_n that_o he_o have_v do_v so_o in_o deed_n for_o in_o pray_v that_o he_o will_v turn_v his_o burn_a offering_n into_o ash_n they_o have_v respect_n unto_o that_o which_o god_n have_v do_v in_o time_n past_a namely_o with_o fire_n from_o heaven_n he_o have_v consume_v the_o it_o increase_v in_o he_o by_o degree_n increase_v by_o continue_v in_o prayer_n our_o assurance_n of_o be_v hear_v increase_v as_o it_o do_v in_o all_o other_o man_n therefore_o as_o he_o be_v direct_v to_o make_v this_o prayer_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n so_o when_o he_o come_v to_o this_o part_n of_o it_o it_o do_v special_o show_v forth_o itself_o in_o the_o assurance_n of_o faith_n be_v great_o enlarge_v and_o increase_v in_o they_o so_o that_o it_o be_v more_o at_o the_o midst_n than_o at_o the_o first_o in_o so_o much_o that_o then_o they_o can_v say_v with_o great_a freedom_n natural_a body_n etc._n 1._o cor._n 12.12_o etc._n etc._n that_o gift_n which_o be_v in_o any_o part_n the_o rest_n have_v the_o use_n of_o it_o so_o in_o the_o mystical_a body_n of_o christ_n that_o which_o he_o by_o his_o spirit_n and_o by_o his_o own_o ordinance_n have_v make_v proper_a unto_o some_o other_o may_v have_v the_o fruit_n and_o benefit_n of_o the_o same_o for_o see_v we_o be_v all_o alike_o subject_a unto_o the_o same_o corruption_n and_o unbelief_n in_o our_o soul_n and_o there_o be_v no_o temptation_n appertain_v unto_o man_n but_o every_o one_o may_v fall_v into_o it_o as_o well_o as_o another_o there_o be_v no_o instruction_n or_o comfort_n out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o any_o have_v receive_v but_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n may_v receive_v the_o like_a from_o thence_o especial_o see_v they_o proceed_v from_o one_o and_o the_o same_o spirit_n of_o truth_n and_o of_o life_n which_o quicken_a the_o whole_a body_n work_v in_o every_o member_n proportionable_o therefore_o as_o i_o be_o not_o altogether_o
of_o his_o flock_n and_o it_o be_v well_o that_o this_o way_n we_o be_v all_o of_o we_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o behold_v one_o to_o another_o than_o we_o be_v in_o that_o we_o will_v in_o brotherly_a love_n acquaint_v other_o with_o our_o estate_n and_o desire_v their_o prayer_n and_o then_o they_o will_v pray_v for_o we_o according_a to_o the_o counsel_n and_o advice_n of_o the_o apostle_n acknowledge_v your_o fault_n one_o to_o another_o and_o pray_v one_o for_o another_o 16._o verse_n 16._o that_o you_o may_v be_v heal_v for_o the_o prayer_n of_o a_o righteous_a man_n make_v we_o all_o that_o he_o will_v have_v we_o help_v one_o another_o and_o know_v that_o we_o need_v the_o help_n one_o of_o another_o both_o for_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o every_o way_n else_o and_o therefore_o that_o we_o shall_v seek_v for_o it_o one_o of_o another_o as_o in_o the_o natural_a body_n all_o part_n do_v need_v the_o mutual_a help_n one_o of_o another_o as_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o foot_n and_o the_o belly_n of_o the_o hand_n and_o do_v in_o a_o sort_n seek_v unto_o they_o for_o it_o and_o by_o a_o natural_a instinct_n as_o it_o be_v beg_v and_o crave_v it_o and_o all_o experience_n teach_v we_o that_o in_o all_o other_o thing_n none_o of_o we_o be_v sufficient_a of_o ourselves_o and_o therefore_o we_o crave_v the_o help_n of_o other_o as_o in_o counsel_n in_o labour_n and_o in_o all_o worldly_a affair_n why_o then_o shall_v it_o not_o be_v so_o in_o prayer_n also_o yet_o such_o be_v our_o corruption_n that_o we_o rather_o seek_v help_n in_o any_o thing_n as_o distrust_v ourselves_o save_v in_o this_o wherein_o we_o most_o need_v it_o but_o we_o have_v find_v the_o other_o true_a by_o our_o own_o experience_n and_o so_o do_v use_v it_o if_o we_o do_v believe_v this_o and_o will_v do_v thereafter_o we_o may_v find_v the_o fruit_n of_o it_o as_o sensible_a god_n we_o desire_v man_n to_o sue_v for_o we_o to_o prince_n so_o shall_v we_o do_v unto_o god_n second_o when_o we_o have_v suit_n unto_o prince_n or_o great_a man_n we_o desire_v those_o that_o be_v in_o favour_n with_o they_o to_o further_a our_o suit_n and_o those_o especial_o that_o be_v most_o gracious_a with_o they_o and_o we_o rest_v not_o in_o ourselves_o though_o we_o be_v well_o know_v unto_o they_o especial_o if_o the_o matter_n that_o we_o sue_v for_o be_v of_o any_o moment_n why_o shall_v we_o not_o then_o much_o more_o speak_v unto_o other_o that_o they_o will_v pray_v to_o god_n for_o we_o and_o commend_v our_o suit_n unto_o his_o high_a majesty_n for_o though_o god_n love_n be_v not_o partial_a as_o man_n be_v 18.20_o matth._n 18.20_o but_o his_o promise_n be_v to_o all_o alike_o yet_o experience_n show_v that_o some_o be_v more_o acquaint_v with_o be_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o and_o therefore_o when_o diverse_a or_o the_o whole_a church_n pray_v for_o we_o there_o be_v more_o hope_n of_o be_v hear_v than_o when_o we_o pray_v ourselves_o alone_o the_o papist_n pray_v to_o the_o saint_n that_o be_v dead_a that_o they_o will_v pray_v to_o god_n for_o they_o that_o he_o will_v hear_v their_o prayer_n for_o which_o there_o be_v no_o warrant_n in_o the_o scripture_n but_o the_o whole_a word_n of_o god_n be_v rather_o against_o they_o but_o here_o be_v a_o example_n to_o desire_v the_o prayer_n of_o the_o saint_n on_o earth_n that_o be_v live_v with_o hope_n of_o great_a fruit_n and_o few_o do_v follow_v it_o three_o when_o we_o pray_v 32.24_o when_o we_o wrestle_v with_o man_n we_o desire_v help_v so_o shall_v we_o when_o we_o strive_v in_o prayer_n with_o god_n gen._n 32.24_o we_o do_v as_o it_o be_v strive_v with_o god_n to_o obtain_v some_o thing_n as_o be_v show_v to_o jacob_n in_o the_o vision_n of_o a_o angel_n wrestle_v with_o he_o all_o night_n long_o to_o teach_v we_o that_o when_o we_o pray_v we_o must_v not_o come_v cold_o or_o sleepe_o unto_o it_o but_o with_o all_o earnestness_n of_o desire_n and_o not_o give_v over_o until_o the_o lord_n bless_v we_o as_o jacob_n will_v not_o let_v the_o angel_n go_v until_o he_o bless_v he_o and_o then_o the_o lord_n will_v assure_o bless_v we_o if_o we_o persevere_v as_o he_o do_v jacob_n and_o as_o christ_n have_v show_v in_o the_o parable_n of_o the_o wicked_a judge_n who_o be_v overcome_v by_o the_o importunity_n of_o the_o widow_n therefore_o as_o when_o we_o wrestle_v or_o strive_v with_o a_o man_n 18.2_o luk._n 18.2_o we_o know_v his_o great_a strength_n and_o our_o own_o weakness_n and_o so_o how_o hard_o it_o be_v to_o overcome_v we_o will_v glad_o have_v other_o to_o help_v and_o to_o strive_v with_o we_o against_o he_o and_o so_o we_o may_v more_o easy_o do_v that_o by_o the_o help_n of_o other_o which_o alone_o hardly_o or_o not_o at_o all_o we_o can_v do_v so_o when_o we_o strive_v with_o the_o lord_n god_n in_o prayer_n be_v privy_a to_o the_o weakness_n of_o our_o own_o faith_n and_o how_o many_o sin_n there_o be_v to_o hinder_v we_o and_o what_o a_o hard_a thing_n it_o be_v to_o obtain_v any_o thing_n in_o respect_n of_o our_o great_a unworthiness_n we_o shall_v desire_v other_o to_o help_v we_o with_o their_o prayer_n and_o therein_o as_o it_o be_v to_o strive_v with_o us._n and_o in_o this_o respect_n it_o be_v a_o singular_a great_a blessing_n if_o it_o be_v right_o esteem_v and_o according_o use_v to_o have_v many_o in_o a_o family_n or_o in_o the_o church_n to_o pray_v with_o we_o and_o for_o us._n thus_o speak_v the_o apostle_n and_o thus_o do_v he_o practice_v when_o he_o so_o earnest_o entreat_v the_o roman_n to_o pray_v for_o he_o 32._o rom._n 15.30_o 32._o say_v brethren_n i_o beseech_v you_o for_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n sake_n and_o for_o the_o love_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o you_o will_v strive_v with_o i_o by_o prayer_n to_o god_n for_o i_o that_o i_o may_v come_v to_o you_o with_o joy_n by_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o may_v with_o you_o be_v refresh_v he_o have_v often_o and_o of_o a_o long_a time_n purpose_v to_o come_v to_o they_o 1.10_o chap._n 1.10_o as_o he_o profess_v in_o the_o first_o chapter_n and_o pray_v that_o by_o some_o mean_n one_o time_n or_o other_o he_o may_v have_v prosperous_a journey_n by_o the_o will_n of_o god_n to_o come_v unto_o they_o prayer_n paul_n desire_v the_o church_n to_o strive_v with_o he_o in_o prayer_n now_o at_o the_o last_o he_o desire_v they_o also_o not_o only_o to_o pray_v but_o to_o pray_v earnest_o and_o to_o strive_v with_o he_o in_o their_o prayer_n that_o he_o may_v come_v with_o joy_n and_o do_v beseech_v they_o that_o they_o will_v do_v so_o even_o for_o the_o love_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o the_o spirit_n if_o he_o then_o after_o so_o many_o and_o earnest_a prayer_n do_v desire_v they_o to_o strive_v with_o he_o how_o have_v we_o need_v much_o more_o to_o do_v it_o who_o pray_v seldomer_n and_o more_o cold_o and_o true_o as_o great_a thing_n may_v be_v do_v when_o many_o strive_v together_o which_o none_o of_o they_o can_v several_o do_v so_o by_o the_o prayer_n of_o many_o great_a thing_n be_v obtain_v which_o by_o the_o prayer_n of_o one_o alone_o be_v not_o so_o easy_o get_v so_o the_o same_o apostle_n write_v to_o the_o corinthian_n that_o
know_v it_o well_o enough_o yea_o their_o child_n kneel_v down_o and_o ask_v they_o blessing_n and_o put_v they_o in_o mind_n of_o it_o and_o notwithstanding_o all_o this_o many_o do_v forget_v it_o and_o though_o they_o cast_v out_o certain_a word_n of_o course_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o thereupon_o determine_v serious_o to_o pray_v for_o they_o what_o will_v they_o do_v then_o if_o their_o have_v see_v it_o and_o be_v drive_v to_o acknowledge_v it_o and_o so_o have_v desire_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n to_o pray_v for_o they_o and_o have_v have_v great_a benefit_n thereby_o then_o if_o the_o ungodly_a and_o profane_a man_n of_o the_o world_n who_o be_v not_o at_o all_o acquaint_v with_o prayer_n yet_o have_v think_v that_o the_o prayer_n of_o other_o may_v do_v they_o good_a then_o have_v comfort_n in_o they_o or_o look_v for_o any_o deliverance_n out_o of_o they_o they_o must_v seek_v for_o it_o at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n by_o supplication_n and_o prayer_n who_o only_o can_v from_o prayer_n but_o rather_o quicken_v we_o up_o unto_o it_o and_o to_o a_o great_a fervency_n in_o it_o 10.1_o psal_n 10.1_o for_o when_o the_o church_n say_v why_o hide_v thou_o thyself_o o_o lord_n in_o due_a time_n even_o in_o affliction_n it_o show_v that_o as_o that_o be_v the_o fit_a time_n for_o the_o lord_n to_o hear_v and_o help_v we_o so_o for_o we_o to_o pray_v unto_o he_o and_o we_o no_o good_a and_o so_o deceive_v we_o but_o if_o we_o trust_v in_o god_n and_o in_o his_o help_n whether_o we_o have_v mean_n or_o have_v they_o not_o that_o will_v be_v a_o anchor_n that_o shall_v not_o confound_v we_o for_o we_o trust_v in_o he_o and_o in_o his_o defence_n from_o who_o only_o come_v all_o help_n now_o if_o we_o say_v we_o have_v this_o faith_n it_o must_v appear_v by_o the_o fruit_n and_o namely_o that_o if_o we_o have_v all_o good_a mean_n as_o david_n have_v here_o we_o be_v not_o secure_a and_o trust_v in_o they_o but_o pray_v earnest_o unto_o god_n as_o though_o we_o have_v they_o not_o much_o more_o when_o we_o have_v they_o not_o in_o deed_n prayer_n then_o be_v a_o special_a token_n in_o all_o thing_n that_o we_o go_v about_o that_o we_o look_v for_o our_o help_n from_o god_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o believe_v that_o it_o be_v god_n that_o must_v stay_v this_o mortality_n and_o sickness_n and_o that_o he_o must_v defend_v other_o and_o ourselves_o reason_n conceive_v of_o help_n so_o long_o as_o they_o have_v any_o mean_n to_o help_v they_o but_o if_o they_o fail_v they_o can_v see_v none_o at_o all_o so_o they_o be_v like_a unto_o those_o that_o be_v purblind_a who_o can_v see_v nothing_o but_o near_o at_o hand_n but_o faith_n see_v a_o far_o off_o even_o into_o heaven_n so_o that_o it_o be_v the_o evidence_n of_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o see_v 11.1_o heb._n 11.1_o for_o it_o look_v unto_o the_o power_n of_o god_n who_o have_v all_o mean_n in_o his_o hand_n or_o can_v work_v without_o they_o who_o make_v all_o of_o nothing_o and_o call_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o as_o though_o they_o be_v so_o that_o as_o the_o holy_a martyr_n s._n stephen_n 7.54_o rom._n 4.17_o act._n 7.54_o when_o his_o enemy_n be_v ready_a to_o own_o body_n 4.19_o rom._n 4.19_o nor_o the_o deadness_n of_o sarahs_n womb_n but_o consider_v what_o god_n have_v promise_v and_o what_o he_o be_v able_a to_o do_v so_o if_o we_o look_v to_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n word_n which_o be_v many_o and_o most_o true_a we_o shall_v see_v help_n from_o heaven_n if_o no_o where_o else_o let_v we_o labour_v then_o for_o that_o faith_n which_o may_v comfort_v we_o from_o heaven_n for_o it_o may_v be_v in_o the_o extremity_n of_o this_o sickness_n we_o shall_v see_v none_o in_o earth_n so_o when_o other_o be_v dumb_a or_o not_o know_v what_o to_o say_v our_o mouth_n shall_v be_v open_v to_o speak_v unto_o god_n and_o say_v send_v we_o help_v from_o the_o sanctuary_n that_o be_v from_o heaven_n zion_n strength_n from_o zion_n it_o thus_o follow_v and_o strengthen_v thou_o out_o of_o zion_n before_o they_o pray_v for_o help_v from_o heaven_n now_o they_o pray_v for_o strength_n out_o of_o zion_n where_o by_o zion_n they_o mean_v that_o part_n of_o jerusalem_n call_v mount_v zion_n where_o afterward_o the_o temple_n be_v build_v where_o now_o the_o ark_n the_o visible_a sign_n of_o god_n presence_n be_v where_o they_o worship_v god_n in_o the_o word_n sacrifice_n and_o prayer_n and_o by_o strength_n thou_o mean_v not_o the_o strength_n of_o man_n and_o munition_n meet_v for_o war_n &_o for_o help_v which_o be_v pray_v for_o strength_n according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o it_o to_o bear_v it_o for_o if_o we_o have_v no_o faith_n or_o confidence_n in_o god_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o job_n in_o all_o his_o great_a affliction_n because_o he_o have_v a_o good_a hart_n and_o trust_v in_o god_n bear_v they_o all_o patient_o and_o say_v plague_n job._n 13.15_o especial_o in_o this_o mortality_n of_o the_o plague_n if_o the_o lord_n kill_v i_o i_o will_v trust_v in_o he_o at_o this_o time_n especial_o in_o respect_n of_o this_o great_a sickness_n it_o be_v most_o needful_a to_o have_v strength_n of_o faith_n that_o nothing_o come_v by_o fortune_n for_o if_o a_o sparrow_n fall_v not_o to_o the_o ground_n without_o his_o will_n 10.29.30_o matt._n 10.29.30_o then_o much_o less_o do_v man_n die_v especial_o see_v the_o very_a heir_n of_o our_o head_n be_v number_v that_o so_o we_o may_v commend_v ourselves_o unto_o he_o and_o take_v all_o thing_n as_o from_o he_o and_o be_v content_v with_o it_o i_o say_v as_o this_o faith_n be_v always_o requisite_a because_o we_o know_v not_o what_o may_v befall_v we_o on_o the_o sudden_a so_o most_o of_o all_o at_o this_o dangerous_a time_n and_o this_o be_v necessary_a not_o only_o for_o ourselves_o but_o for_o our_o brethren_n also_o that_o accoridng_v to_o the_o measure_n of_o the_o sickness_n and_o pain_n and_o temptation_n of_o their_o mind_n so_o they_o may_v have_v strength_n to_o bear_v al._n for_o the_o very_a want_n of_o this_o strength_n
our_o own_o experience_n and_o encourage_v they_o to_o call_v upon_o god_n with_o good_a hope_n by_o our_o own_o example_n for_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o say_v unto_o they_o that_o we_o have_v observe_v how_o god_n have_v deal_v with_o we_o in_o the_o like_a case_n of_o they_o and_o this_o shall_v be_v no_o small_a comfort_n to_o they_o to_o hear_v it_o or_o to_o ourselves_o from_o other_o to_o hear_v at_o their_o mouth_n how_o god_n have_v deal_v with_o they_o in_o former_a time_n and_o so_o do_v david_n to_o this_o end_n speak_v to_o other_o of_o his_o own_o experience_n which_o he_o have_v get_v by_o mark_v how_o god_n deal_v with_o he_o after_o his_o prayer_n when_o he_o say_v this_o poor_a man_n cry_v and_o the_o lord_n hear_v he_o and_o save_v he_o out_o of_o all_o his_o trouble_n and_o a_o little_a before_o 4._o psal_n 34.6_o verse_n 4._o i_o seek_v the_o lord_n and_o he_o hear_v i_o yea_o he_o deliver_v i_o out_o of_o my_o fear_n they_o shall_v look_v to_o he_o and_o run_v to_o he_o and_o their_o face_n shall_v not_o be_v ashamed_a say_v this_o poor_a man_n cry_v and_o the_o lord_n hear_v he_o we_o see_v how_o confident_o he_o speak_v unto_o other_o and_o thing_n wherein_o we_o have_v pray_v unto_o god_n so_o mark_v his_o deal_n towards_o we_o that_o we_o may_v see_v how_o he_o have_v turn_v our_o burn_a offering_n into_o ash_n that_o be_v how_o he_o have_v declare_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o have_v hear_v our_o prayer_n that_o so_o we_o may_v rejoice_v in_o god_n benefit_n the_o more_o and_o he_o may_v be_v praise_v for_o they_o and_o ourselves_o and_o other_o be_v confirm_v in_o hope_n by_o experience_n through_o they_o turn_v thy_o burn_a offering_n into_o ash_n last_o concern_v these_o word_n whereas_o in_o they_o he_o teach_v general_o to_o pray_v thing_n we_o must_v not_o limit_v the_o hear_n of_o our_o prayer_n to_o any_o one_o particular_a thing_n that_o god_n will_v show_v that_o he_o have_v hear_v his_o prayer_n and_o do_v not_o limit_v it_o to_o any_o particular_a thing_n as_o to_o say_v show_v it_o by_o do_v so_o and_o so_o but_o that_o concern_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v pray_v for_o he_o desire_v that_o he_o will_v show_v which_o way_n it_o please_v he_o that_o he_o have_v hear_v they_o and_o that_o he_o and_o they_o may_v as_o evident_o see_v it_o as_o those_o do_v who_o have_v their_o sacrifice_n consume_v with_o fire_n from_o heaven_n it_o teach_v we_o that_o in_o all_o outward_a thing_n especial_o we_o shall_v not_o tie_v the_o favour_n of_o god_n and_o the_o hear_n of_o our_o prayer_n to_o any_o one_o special_a thing_n as_o to_o say_v if_o god_n will_v give_v i_o such_o a_o thing_n that_o i_o have_v pray_v for_o or_o deal_v so_o and_o so_o with_o i_o i_o will_v believe_v that_o he_o have_v hear_v my_o prayer_n but_o until_o i_o have_v that_o i_o can_v be_v persuade_v of_o it_o for_o in_o all_o thing_n we_o ought_v to_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v give_v we_o such_o and_o such_o thing_n for_o it_o make_v request_n for_o the_o saint_n according_a to_o that_o that_o they_o ask_v or_o name_v which_o in_o temptation_n themselves_o know_v not_o well_o but_o according_a to_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o they_o for_o even_o as_o those_o that_o be_v sick_a of_o some_o hot_a pestilent_a burn_a fever_n or_o some_o other_o disease_n that_o distemper_v their_o brain_n better_o for_o they_o in_o that_o case_n and_o in_o so_o do_v they_o give_v they_o according_a to_o their_o meaning_n for_o they_o do_v mean_a that_o that_o be_v best_a for_o they_o though_o they_o err_v then_o through_o distemperature_n or_o ignorance_n in_o the_o particular_a and_o so_o when_o they_o be_v well_o and_o can_v judge_v of_o thing_n themselves_o will_v confess_v so_o do_v the_o lord_n deal_v with_o his_o servant_n &_o so_o must_v we_o be_v content_v to_o be_v order_v by_o the_o lord_n that_o whatsoever_o we_o ask_v he_o will_v give_v we_o that_o which_o he_o know_v to_o be_v best_a for_o we_o and_o so_o give_v we_o according_a to_o the_o meaning_n of_o his_o spirit_n in_o we_o that_o so_o we_o may_v see_v that_o he_o have_v hear_v our_o prayer_n 12.8_o 2._o cor._n 12.8_o saint_n paul_n pray_v three_o time_n that_o the_o messenger_n of_o satan_n which_o buffet_v he_o may_v depart_v away_o from_o he_o and_o the_o lord_n hear_v his_o prayer_n but_o how_o he_o give_v he_o this_o answer_n my_o grace_n be_v sufficient_a for_o thou_o 9_o verse_n 9_o for_o my_o power_n be_v make_v perfect_a through_o weakness_n so_o that_o when_o in_o all_o temptation_n of_o the_o devil_n receive_n of_o that_o particular_a we_o ask_v and_o can_v for_o the_o most_o part_n otherwise_o discern_v of_o it_o as_o for_o example_n if_o we_o ask_v health_n and_o wealth_n and_o god_n give_v they_o then_o will_v we_o believe_v that_o he_o have_v hear_v our_o prayer_n and_o otherwise_o not_o whereas_o the_o lord_n may_v no_o less_o show_n that_o he_o have_v hear_v our_o prayer_n and_o deny_v we_o both_o of_o they_o when_o he_o shall_v give_v we_o mind_n content_v with_o our_o estate_n and_o to_o wait_v upon_o his_o bless_a will_n in_o all_o our_o want_n we_o have_v now_o a_o long_a time_n pray_v unto_o god_n for_o this_o sickness_n and_o mortality_n and_o we_o desire_v to_o see_v that_o god_n have_v hear_v our_o prayer_n and_o so_o we_o may_v also_o though_o it_o be_v not_o lessen_v but_o increase_v yea_o though_o it_o shall_v come_v among_o we_o and_o be_v upon_o our_o own_o body_n plague_n so_o will_v he_o do_v in_o this_o visitation_n of_o the_o plague_n for_o in_o sufficient_o show_v that_o he_o have_v hear_v our_o prayer_n and_o now_o further_o if_o he_o shall_v come_v and_o deal_v with_o we_o in_o our_o own_o body_n and_o then_o with_o all_o shall_v give_v shall_v make_v further_o use_v of_o this_o doctrine_n hereafter_o the_o eleven_o sermon_n upon_o the_o three_o verse_n selah_n we_o hear_v the_o last_o day_n the_o meaning_n of_o this_o word_n prayer_n by_o selah_n here_o they_o be_v stir_v up_o to_o the_o affection_n of_o prayer_n namely_o that_o it_o serve_v to_o note_v out_o some_o special_a affection_n according_a to_o the_o matter_n where_o it_o be_v use_v we_o be_v then_o now_o to_o consider_v what_o special_a affection_n be_v in_o he_o and_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o people_n here_o and_o so_o what_o be_v and_o be_v the_o use_n of_o it_o in_o this_o place_n general_o it_o be_v join_v unto_o a_o prayer_n they_o be_v to_o have_v the_o affection_n meet_v for_o prayer_n and_o for_o this_o thing_n that_o here_o they_o pray_v for_o therefore_o the_o special_a affection_n that_o ought_v to_o be_v in_o the_o people_n when_o they_o pray_v thus_o be_v these_o or_o such_o like_a first_o when_o he_o will_v they_o to_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v his_o prayer_n and_o show_v that_o he_o do_v so_o and_o then_o add_v selah_n a_o note_n of_o affection_n or_o stir_v up_o of_o the_o mind_n it_o be_v to_o teach_v they_o earnest_o as_o namely_o to_o pray_v earnest_o that_o he_o will_v have_v they_o affect_v with_o it_o to_o pray_v for_o it_o earnest_o and_o in_o require_v this_o earnestness_n here_o his_o meaning_n be_v not_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v cold_a in_o the_o former_a and_o negligent_a but_o here_o he_o require_v a_o special_a fervency_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o after_o a_o special_a manner_n they_o will_v pray_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v his_o prayer_n and_o declare_v it_o by_o which_o example_n we_o learn_v that_o though_o we_o ought_v always_o to_o pray_v from_o our_o heart_n and_o never_o with_o the_o tongue_n only_o as_o many_o do_v and_o have_v do_v not_o only_o in_o popery_n when_o if_o they_o have_v say_v a_o certain_a number_n of_o prayer_n it_o be_v think_v sufficient_a though_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o say_v it_o be_v in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n and_o so_o can_v not_o possible_o have_v any_o desire_n at_o all_o unto_o that_o which_o they_o pray_v for_o and_o so_o that_o be_v verify_v of_o they_o that_o christ_n speak_v of_o in_o the_o gospel_n 15.8_o matth._n 15.8_o this_o people_n draw_v near_o unto_o i_o with_o their_o lip_n but_o their_o heart_n be_v far_o from_o i_o but_o also_o in_o these_o day_n when_o many_o though_o they_o say_v amen_o at_o the_o end_n of_o prayer_n yet_o have_v have_v their_o mind_n occupy_v about_o other_o matter_n and_o so_o concern_v us._n so_o that_o our_o prayer_n must_v not_o flow_v from_o we_o like_o a_o still_a stream_n which_o be_v always_o like_o itself_o and_o never_o stand_v still_o like_o a_o pool_n so_o we_o must_v not_o have_v always_o the_o like_a desire_n in_o prayer_n yea_o though_o they_o be_v desire_n of_o the_o heart_n in_o deed_n and_o the_o heart_n be_v true_o move_v with_o it_o and_o not_o stand_v still_o senseless_a and_o dead_a in_o the_o affection_n of_o it_o like_o a_o lake_n which_o be_v without_o motion_n which_o yet_o it_o be_v well_o if_o all_o man_n can_v come_v unto_o and_o it_o be_v a_o great_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n if_o we_o can_v do_v so_o but_o our_o heart_n in_o prayer_n must_v be_v work_v like_o the_o great_a ocean_n sea_n that_o sometime_o come_v with_o great_a billow_n so_o that_o it_o bring_v up_o thing_n that_o be_v at_o the_o bottom_n of_o it_o so_o we_o according_a to_o our_o special_a need_n and_o the_o necessity_n of_o other_o that_o we_o pray_v for_o must_v stir_v up_o the_o least_o desire_n that_o we_o have_v even_o from_o the_o bottom_n of_o our_o heart_n and_o though_o our_o heart_n be_v move_v before_o yet_o when_o we_o come_v to_o such_o a_o thing_n they_o must_v be_v move_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o that_o god_n may_v see_v how_o earnest_o we_o desire_v they_o that_o so_o he_o may_v fulfil_v they_o and_o this_o we_o must_v do_v not_o only_o in_o our_o private_a prayer_n public_a and_o that_o be_v true_a not_o only_o of_o private_a prayer_n but_o of_o public_a according_a to_o that_o that_o we_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o as_o we_o all_o find_v that_o we_o need_v something_o more_o than_o other_o for_o that_o we_o must_v be_v most_o importunate_a though_o we_o must_v always_o pray_v earnest_o but_o also_o in_o the_o public_a prayer_n of_o the_o church_n as_o these_o of_o the_o people_n be_v as_o we_o must_v always_o during_o the_o time_n of_o prayer_n mark_v diligent_o what_o be_v say_v and_o have_v not_o only_o our_o mind_n occupy_v about_o it_o but_o our_o desire_n go_v with_o his_o word_n that_o pray_v as_o it_o be_v step_z by_z step_z that_o thus_o they_o may_v all_o wait_v upon_o he_o and_o call_v upon_o god_n for_o it_o and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o say_v selah_n that_o be_v oh_o that_o god_n will_v grant_v that_o so_o will_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o god_n will_v give_v we_o our_o with_o selah_n that_o be_v with_o great_a earnestness_n in_o the_o feel_n of_o their_o own_o estate_n yet_o afterward_o they_o be_v not_o so_o much_o move_v with_o it_o as_o david_n be_v here_o and_o so_o forget_v to_o be_v thankful_a themselves_o at_o leastwise_o do_v not_o desire_v other_o to_o be_v thankful_a for_o they_o or_o not_o with_o that_o feel_n that_o they_o desire_v they_o to_o pray_v for_o they_o before_o let_v we_o than_o i_o pray_v you_o consider_v how_o we_o esteem_v of_o this_o that_o god_n hear_v our_o prayer_n at_o any_o time_n we_o esteem_v it_o may_v be_v of_o the_o thing_n themselves_o that_o god_n bestow_v upon_o we_o at_o our_o prayer_n whether_o it_o be_v health_n or_o wealth_n or_o any_o thing_n else_o our_o own_o need_n drive_v we_o unto_o it_o but_o do_v we_o account_v it_o to_o be_v so_o great_a a_o favour_n of_o god_n and_o confess_v ourselves_o to_o be_v so_o unworthy_a of_o it_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v bind_v to_o serve_v he_o and_o praise_v he_o for_o it_o when_o we_o have_v it_o i_o beseech_v you_o do_v we_o enter_v serious_o into_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o of_o our_o own_o unworthines_n to_o say_v what_o a_o good_a god_n be_v this_o that_o have_v deal_v so_o gracious_o with_o i_o sure_o sure_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o few_o do_v it_o either_o before_o they_o pray_v or_o when_o they_o have_v do_v to_o say_v what_o a_o thing_n be_v this_o i_o that_o be_o so_o vild_a a_o wretch_n that_o have_v no_o goodness_n in_o i_o at_o all_o that_o have_v so_o many_o way_n offend_v god_n that_o he_o shall_v notwithstanding_o hear_v my_o prayer_n whereas_o he_o may_v just_o have_v bring_v upon_o i_o that_o curse_n that_o be_v speak_v off_o in_o the_o prophet_n that_o as_o the_o lord_n cry_v unto_o i_o often_o in_o his_o word_n 7.13_o zach._n 7.13_o and_o i_o will_v not_o hear_v he_o so_o i_o shall_v cry_v to_o he_o in_o my_o prayer_n and_o he_o not_o hear_v i_o therefore_o it_o be_v needful_a for_o they_o by_o this_o word_n selah_n to_o be_v stir_v up_o and_o we_o must_v learn_v thereby_o to_o make_v more_o account_n of_o the_o hear_n of_o our_o prayer_n than_o we_o do_v for_o though_o god_n have_v make_v a_o promise_n unto_o we_o in_o christ_n that_o if_o we_o ask_v we_o shall_v receive_v prayer_n let_v we_o stir_v up_o ourselves_o to_o make_v more_o account_n of_o the_o hear_n of_o present_a for_o this_o sickness_n acknowledge_v ourselves_o unworthy_a of_o all_o his_o former_a mercy_n much_o more_o that_o we_o be_v unworthy_a of_o any_o new_a as_o jacob_n do_v when_o he_o say_v o_o god_n of_o my_o father_n abraham_n 32.10_o gen._n 32.10_o i_o be_o not_o worthy_a of_o the_o least_o of_o all_o the_o mercy_n and_o truth_n which_o thou_o have_v show_v unto_o thy_o servant_n mind_n that_o bring_v thou_o to_o pass_v now_o david_n teach_v they_o thus_o to_o pray_v we_o may_v presume_v that_o he_o do_v determine_v to_o have_v nothing_o but_o good_a desire_n in_o his_o can_v he_o have_v desire_v they_o so_o to_o pray_v for_o he_o neither_o they_o have_v do_v it_o in_o faith_n first_o then_o as_o in_o all_o other_o thing_n we_o must_v approve_v ourselves_o unto_o god_n from_o our_o very_a heart_n which_o be_v the_o chief_a thing_n that_o he_o look_v unto_o and_o that_o especial_o he_o require_v of_o all_o according_a as_o it_o be_v write_v my_o son_n give_v i_o thy_o heart_n 23.26_o prou._n 23.26_o so_o in_o our_o prayer_n most_o of_o all_o that_o we_o desire_v in_o our_o heart_n nothing_o but_o that_o that_o be_v just_a and_o lawful_a and_o according_a to_o his_o will_n god_n all_o the_o desire_n of_o our_o heart_n in_o prayer_n must_v be_v agreeable_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o so_o again_o whatsoever_o we_o go_v about_o the_o mean_n that_o we_o use_v must_v be_v lawful_a and_o such_o as_o god_n may_v allow_v of_o that_o so_o in_o our_o prayer_n we_o may_v commend_v they_o unto_o god_n then_o may_v we_o bold_o pray_v god_n to_o fulfil_v they_o and_o desire_v other_o also_o to_o do_v so_o and_o they_o be_v so_o persuade_v of_o we_o by_o good_a proof_n may_v safe_o and_o with_o a_o good_a conscience_n thus_o pray_v for_o we_o though_o they_o know_v not_o all_o our_o heart_n desire_n and_o purpose_n for_o god_n have_v promise_v that_o whatsoever_o we_o ask_v according_a to_o his_o will_n he_o will_v grant_v it_o unto_o us._n and_o all_o the_o promise_n that_o be_v make_v unto_o prayer_n be_v thus_o to_o be_v understand_v and_o no_o otherwise_o as_o when_o christ_n say_v ask_v and_o it_o shall_v be_v give_v you_o seek_v and_o you_o shall_v find_v 7.7_o matth._n 7.7_o knock_v and_o it_o shall_v be_v open_v unto_o you_o for_o whosoever_o ask_v receive_v and_o he_o that_o seek_v find_v and_o to_o he_o that_o knock_v it_o the_o spirit_n hear_v and_o such_o prayer_n god_n will_v hear_v for_o he_o make_v request_n for_o the_o saint_n according_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n so_o that_o when_o a_o man_n pray_v by_o the_o instinct_n and_o motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n which_o direct_v he_o to_o ask_v according_a to_o his_o will_n and_o word_n than_o he_o hear_v and_o such_o we_o may_v bold_o desire_v other_o to_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v grant_v so_o likewise_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o ten_o psalm_n 10.17_o psal_n 10.17_o lord_n thou_o have_v hear_v the_o desire_n of_o the_o poor_a thou_o prepare_v their_o heart_n thou_o bende_v thy_o ear_n thereto_o where_o the_o prophet_n confess_v to_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o church_n that_o god_n be_v ready_a to_o hear_v the_o prayer_n of_o his_o poor_a as_o they_o may_v stand_v with_o these_o and_o further_o they_o and_o so_o far_o will_v god_n grant_v they_o jacob_n when_o he_o go_v to_o laban_n make_v his_o prayer_n in_o the_o way_n after_o this_o experience_n see_v then_o that_o prayer_n be_v a_o work_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o of_o the_o spirit_n as_o we_o have_v hear_v and_o not_o of_o the_o lip_n and_o of_o the_o tongue_n so_o much_o every_o one_o that_o come_v unto_o prayer_n must_v especial_o labour_v in_o this_o one_o point_n that_o he_o may_v bring_v his_o heart_n unto_o god_n and_o not_o to_o stand_v so_o much_o upon_o word_n prayer_n if_o we_o have_v good_a desire_n the_o want_n of_o fit_a word_n must_v not_o hinder_v we_o from_o prayer_n and_o this_o must_v be_v no_o bar_n unto_o any_o to_o keep_v they_o from_o prayer_n to_o say_v i_o have_v no_o fit_a word_n i_o can_v utter_v my_o mind_n well_o i_o have_v a_o good_a heart_n but_o my_o speech_n be_v naught_o etc._n etc._n for_o first_o of_o all_o if_o we_o be_v sufficient_o touch_v with_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o want_n we_o shall_v have_v word_n enough_o to_o utter_v the_o same_o for_o all_o experience_n show_v that_o every_o one_o can_v complain_v well_o enough_o to_o the_o understanding_n of_o man_n of_o any_o thing_n wherein_o they_o be_v grieve_v be_v they_o never_o so_o simple_a as_o the_o poor_a creature_n that_o be_v that_o be_v pinch_v with_o hunger_n and_o thirst_n can_v ask_v bread_n and_o meat_n and_o no_o man_n need_v to_o instruct_v he_o what_o word_n he_o shall_v use_v in_o such_o a_o case_n and_o if_o any_o be_v oppress_v they_o can_v sufficient_o lay_v open_a their_o wrong_n we_o see_v that_o young_a child_n can_v do_v that_o and_o almost_o natural_a fool_n then_o assure_o if_o we_o have_v that_o inward_a sight_n and_o feel_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o of_o the_o want_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n that_o we_o shall_v have_v we_o shall_v have_v word_n enough_o to_o utter_v the_o same_o unto_o god_n and_o to_o pour_v out_o our_o whole_a mind_n unto_o he_o and_o to_o say_v good_a lord_n give_v i_o this_o and_o give_v i_o that_o therefore_o let_v we_o first_o labour_n for_o that_o and_o then_o the_o other_o do_v open_o profess_v it_o in_o these_o word_n on_o thou_o o_o lord_n do_v i_o wait_v 15._o verse_n 15._o thou_o will_v hear_v i_o o_o lord_n my_o god_n and_o so_o from_o this_o assurance_n he_o end_v the_o psalm_n somewhat_o more_o comfortable_o than_o he_o begin_v it_o say_v have_v thou_o to_o help_v i_o o_o my_o lord_n 22._o verse_n 22._o my_o salvation_n thus_o we_o see_v how_o by_o continue_v of_o this_o doctrine_n namely_o that_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n pray_v unto_o he_o in_o their_o several_a trouble_n as_o this_o people_n do_v here_o have_v by_o little_a and_o little_o grow_v in_o a_o further_a assurance_n to_o their_o own_o comfort_n and_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n mean_n by_o this_o experience_n in_o another_o we_o see_v what_o assurance_n god_n may_v work_v in_o we_o if_o we_o use_v the_o same_o mean_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v they_o but_o they_o show_v we_o the_o same_o by_o great_a experience_n which_o be_v the_o best_a tract_n and_o able_a to_o instruct_v the_o most_o simple_a for_o we_o have_v hear_v how_o david_n oftentimes_o profess_v it_o of_o himself_o which_o show_v we_o what_o we_o may_v look_v for_o that_o the_o lord_n shall_v work_v in_o we_o also_o for_o there_o be_v no_o respect_n of_o person_n with_o he_o if_o we_o pray_v in_o that_o feel_n of_o our_o want_n and_o that_o humility_n under_o the_o cross_n and_o that_o fervency_n under_o hope_n and_o that_o continuance_n by_o patience_n that_o he_o do_v therefore_o let_v we_o labour_v after_o it_o even_o that_o we_o may_v find_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n so_o work_v in_o our_o heart_n by_o prayer_n that_o it_o may_v certain_o and_o comfortable_o witness_v to_o our_o spirit_n that_o the_o lord_n do_v hear_v we_o and_o that_o the_o same_o testimony_n of_o the_o spirit_n may_v increase_v in_o we_o aswe_v increase_n in_o pray_v and_o it_o may_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o as_o in_o the_o morning_n we_o see_v the_o sun_n arise_v high_a and_o high_o whereby_o we_o have_v a_o great_a feeling_n of_o the_o heat_n of_o it_o as_o the_o day_n increase_v so_o we_o may_v see_v the_o son_n of_o righteousness_n so_o arise_v in_o our_o heart_n 4.2_o malach._n 4.2_o disperse_v all_o the_o mist_n of_o ignorance_n and_o unbelief_n that_o we_o may_v have_v the_o comfortable_a feel_n of_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n in_o our_o heart_n increase_n more_o and_o more_o to_o cheer_v they_o up_o with_o the_o light_n and_o heat_n of_o it_o as_o it_o be_v as_o we_o shall_v continue_v long_o in_o prayer_n let_v we_o labour_v after_o it_o i_o say_v because_o that_o few_o do_v know_v what_o it_o do_v mean_a because_o they_o do_v not_o so_o much_o as_o once_o seek_v and_o inquire_v after_o it_o object_n prayer_n the_o best_a servant_n of_o god_n complain_v that_o they_o have_v no_o assurance_n that_o god_n hear_v their_o prayer_n now_o if_o any_o do_v seek_v this_o and_o can_v find_v it_o and_o so_o they_o still_o complain_v as_o many_o of_o the_o best_a servant_n of_o god_n have_v do_v that_o he_o hear_v not_o their_o prayer_n neither_o have_v they_o any_o assurance_n of_o it_o for_o when_o as_o in_o their_o trouble_n they_o pray_v unto_o god_n this_o grieve_v they_o much_o that_o they_o have_v no_o persuasion_n that_o god_n hear_v and_o will_v help_v they_o for_o if_o they_o have_v this_o they_o can_v be_v content_v to_o wait_v upon_o he_o and_o to_o tarry_v his_o leisure_n but_o they_o pray_v and_o pray_v and_o can_v have_v no_o assurance_n that_o he_o do_v hear_v they_o ans_fw-fr same_o and_o a_o reason_n of_o the_o same_o to_o satisfy_v all_o those_o and_o to_o strengthen_v they_o in_o this_o weakness_n of_o they_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o they_o that_o have_v have_v the_o great_a assurance_n at_o any_o time_n that_o the_o lord_n do_v hear_v they_o have_v have_v it_o but_o in_o time_n and_o in_o measure_n and_o not_o always_o alike_o but_o sometime_o more_o sometime_o less_o and_o sometime_o not_o at_o all_o as_o the_o spirit_n of_o faith_n or_o their_o own_o unbelief_n have_v prevail_v in_o they_o for_o in_o these_o forename_a place_n we_o see_v that_o in_o some_o of_o the_o psalm_n he_o profess_v great_a assurance_n than_o in_o other_o and_o so_o be_v it_o with_o all_o man_n even_o as_o with_o the_o eye_n of_o our_o body_n we_o sometime_o see_v a_o thing_n more_o clear_o than_o at_o other_o time_n and_o our_o eyesight_n be_v not_o always_o alike_o no_o more_o be_v our_o faith_n whereby_o we_o behold_v christ_n and_o in_o he_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n it_o be_v not_o always_o in_o the_o same_o brightness_n beside_o as_o the_o air_n be_v not_o always_o alike_o for_o our_o sight_n but_o sometime_o more_o troublesome_a and_o sour_v yea_o dark_a which_o hinder_v we_o from_o the_o sight_n of_o that_o that_o we_o look_v unto_o when_o our_o eye_n be_v at_o the_o best_a so_o we_o have_v sometime_o in_o our_o mind_n great_a and_o more_o violent_a temptation_n than_o at_o other_o as_o it_o be_v thick_a mist_n or_o rather_o dark_a cloud_n in_o the_o air_n to_o hinder_v our_o faith_n from_o behold_v the_o cheerful_a countenance_n of_o the_o lord_n as_o it_o be_v the_o light_n of_o the_o sun_n which_o shine_v always_o alike_o though_o we_o by_o reason_n of_o these_o can_v always_o see_v it_o alike_o so_o the_o lord_n love_n be_v always_o one_o and_o the_o same_o but_o we_o be_v not_o always_o alike_o dispose_v in_o ourselves_o to_o behold_v it_o in_o that_o brightness_n that_o it_o shine_v in_o it_o own_o nature_n therefore_o we_o must_v not_o be_v dismay_v if_o we_o have_v not_o always_o this_o assurance_n in_o our_o prayer_n after_o the_o same_o manner_n but_o see_v what_o

help_v and_o strengthen_v thou_o let_v he_o remember_v thy_o offering_n and_o turn_v thy_o burn_a offering_n into_o ash_n grant_v thou_o according_a to_o thy_o heart_n fulfil_v all_o thy_o purpose_n etc._n etc._n where_o there_o be_v many_o short_a and_o earnest_a petition_n for_o the_o same_o thing_n which_o double_v of_o their_o word_n and_o of_o their_o request_n in_o so_o great_a shortness_n do_v sufficient_o show_v how_o fervent_o they_o pray_v for_o we_o must_v not_o think_v that_o they_o use_v vain_a babble_n heap_v up_o a_o multitude_n of_o word_n without_o any_o sense_n feeling_n or_o desire_v of_o the_o thing_n answerable_a unto_o the_o same_o as_o it_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o hypocrite_n and_o heathen_a to_o do_v who_o use_v repetition_n and_o think_v to_o be_v hear_v for_o their_o much_o babble_n 6.7_o matth._n 6.7_o against_o who_o our_o saviour_n christ_n speak_v in_o the_o gospel_n but_o this_o prayer_n be_v first_o make_v by_o david_n who_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o for_o the_o church_n which_o be_v rule_v by_o the_o same_o spirit_n we_o may_v by_o their_o word_n very_o clear_o discern_v &_o see_v their_o spirit_n that_o they_o pray_v with_o namely_o with_o great_a earnestness_n and_o feeling_n especial_o when_o this_o word_n selah_n which_o note_v some_o great_a affection_n of_o the_o mind_n be_v add_v and_o thus_o do_v they_o come_v to_o a_o great_a assurance_n at_o the_o last_o i_o mean_v by_o this_o continuance_n in_o fervent_a prayer_n so_o in_o all_o the_o other_o psalm_n of_o david_n which_o we_o allege_v before_o we_o see_v that_o he_o pray_v not_o cold_o or_o in_o a_o word_n but_o very_o earnest_o often_o and_o long_o before_o he_o profess_v this_o assurance_n therefore_o if_o we_o will_v come_v unto_o it_o in_o our_o measure_n we_o must_v labour_v to_o have_v the_o feel_n of_o our_o want_n and_o to_o be_v trouble_v for_o it_o and_o so_o pray_v earnest_o we_o must_v come_v also_o in_o the_o faith_n of_o god_n goodness_n and_o hope_v of_o be_v hear_v by_o consider_v the_o promise_n of_o his_o word_n and_o the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o same_o we_o must_v continue_v in_o prayer_n and_o pray_v often_o for_o the_o same_o thing_n so_o shall_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o we_o shall_v not_o only_o believe_v beforehand_o general_o that_o god_n will_v hear_v we_o but_o more_o particular_o in_o that_o very_a thing_n that_o we_o pray_v for_o find_v some_o assurance_n increase_v in_o we_o that_o he_o will_v help_v we_o and_o we_o must_v wait_v upon_o he_o also_o to_o have_v a_o great_a assurance_n of_o it_o wrought_v in_o we_o afterward_o therefore_o let_v we_o do_v thus_o and_o see_v whether_o the_o lord_n in_o many_o thing_n that_o we_o pray_v for_o will_v not_o give_v we_o that_o assurance_n that_o he_o will_v help_v we_o some_o way_n or_o other_o either_o by_o mitigate_a the_o thing_n that_o be_v upon_o we_o or_o deliver_v we_o clean_o from_o it_o or_o give_v we_o patience_n under_o it_o or_o increase_a our_o strength_n to_o bear_v it_o or_o turn_v it_o unto_o our_o good_a so_o that_o we_o shall_v see_v the_o more_o we_o pray_v the_o more_o quiet_a shall_v we_o be_v in_o submit_v our_o will_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o some_o way_n or_o other_o the_o lord_n will_v hear_v we_o and_o help_v us._n and_o furthermore_o concern_v this_o particular_a that_o they_o pray_v for_o even_o for_o david_n their_o king_n they_o have_v this_o assurance_n that_o god_n will_v hear_v he_o other_o how_o we_o may_v be_v assure_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o other_o and_o help_v he_o and_o so_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o many_o faithful_a subject_n and_o people_n in_o this_o land_n have_v in_o like_a manner_n pray_v for_o their_o king_n and_o queen_n and_o governor_n god_n have_v give_v they_o assurance_n that_o he_o have_v hear_v they_o for_o they_o and_o the_o more_o that_o any_o have_v do_v so_o the_o great_a assurance_n have_v they_o have_v as_o many_o pray_n for_o the_o life_n of_o our_o late_a queen_n elizabeth_n god_n do_v not_o only_o preserve_v her_o person_n from_o a_o number_n of_o treason_n intend_v against_o she_o but_o they_o have_v by_o their_o prayer_n comfort_v over_o it_o for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v do_v so_o still_o and_o so_o shall_v we_o now_o have_v for_o his_o most_o excellent_a majesty_n that_o now_o be_v though_o he_o be_v subject_a to_o many_o peril_n as_o appear_v by_o the_o terrible_a murder_n and_o treason_n that_o have_v already_o break_v out_o against_o his_o royal_a person_n and_o whole_a progeny_n that_o if_o we_o use_v to_o pray_v often_o for_o he_o public_o and_o private_o and_o that_o fervent_o with_o all_o our_o desire_n and_o believe_v that_o he_o be_v the_o lord_n anoint_a that_o be_v that_o he_o be_v set_v over_o we_o by_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o just_a title_n and_o inheritance_n king_n as_o for_o the_o king_n that_o the_o lord_n who_o be_v the_o defender_n of_o all_o right_a will_v not_o only_o preserve_v he_o still_o maugre_o their_o head_n as_o hitherto_o he_o have_v do_v but_o will_v assure_v we_o of_o it_o in_o some_o good_a measure_n that_o we_o shall_v quiet_o submit_v ourselves_o to_o his_o peaceable_a and_o gracious_a government_n and_o not_o great_o fear_v the_o malicious_a attempt_n of_o he_o and_o our_o enemy_n but_o as_o he_o be_v religious_a himself_o and_o use_v to_o pray_v for_o himself_o and_o put_v his_o trust_n in_o god_n so_o we_o pray_v often_o also_o and_o earnest_o for_o he_o shall_v know_v more_o and_o more_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v hear_v he_o and_o we_o for_o he_o and_o this_o be_v true_a not_o only_o of_o our_o governor_n but_o of_o all_o man_n so_o that_o if_o we_o use_v to_o pray_v often_o for_o other_o and_o if_o they_o have_v make_v know_v and_o commend_v their_o estate_n unto_o we_o to_o that_o end_n and_o we_o thereupon_o be_v fervent_a with_o the_o lord_n for_o they_o plague_n and_o for_o they_o that_o be_v visit_v with_o the_o plague_n it_o will_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o not_o only_o the_o lord_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o they_o but_o we_o shall_v have_v good_a hope_n of_o it_o and_o so_o we_o shall_v have_v comfort_n beforehand_o that_o god_n will_v do_v good_a unto_o they_o and_o the_o often_o that_o we_o pray_v for_o any_o in_o any_o distress_n of_o they_o the_o more_o assurance_n shall_v we_o have_v god_n in_o his_o good_a time_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o they_o and_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o in_o this_o time_n of_o sickness_n and_o mortality_n many_o have_v find_v this_o to_o be_v true_a by_o experience_n that_o by_o continual_a and_o fervent_a prayer_n they_o have_v not_o only_o obtain_v this_o assurance_n for_o themselves_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v help_v they_o but_o for_o other_o let_v that_o experience_n move_v we_o for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v to_o pray_v still_o for_o those_o that_o be_v in_o this_o visitation_n or_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o it_o that_o we_o may_v know_v at_o the_o last_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v hear_v we_o for_o they_o also_o and_o help_v they_o in_o his_o bless_a time_n by_o the_o mighty_a power_n of_o his_o right_a hand_n which_o we_o beseech_v he_o that_o we_o may_v find_v at_o his_o merciful_a hand_n for_o jesus_n christ_n sake_n our_o mediator_n and_o redeemer_n amen_n the_o to_o encourage_v man_n to_o desire_v other_o to_o pray_v for_o they_o in_o the_o time_n of_o their_o need_n therefore_o when_o many_o strive_v together_o of_o unequal_a strength_n about_o one_o thing_n as_o to_o remove_v a_o great_a stone_n or_o some_o piece_n of_o timber_n if_o there_o be_v among_o they_o young_a man_n or_o woman_n and_o child_n and_o sick_a folk_n and_o such_o as_o can_v do_v little_a or_o nothing_o and_o but_o one_o strong_a man_n in_o their_o company_n like_a unto_o the_o great_a giant_n goliath_n or_o unto_o samson_n though_o all_o of_o they_o may_v help_v some_o thing_n yet_o this_o one_o by_o his_o great_a strength_n shall_v do_v so_o much_o that_o all_o that_o the_o other_o do_v shall_v not_o be_v discern_v and_o so_o all_o shall_v be_v ascribe_v unto_o he_o and_o he_o alone_o shall_v be_v say_v to_o do_v it_o because_o all_o of_o they_o can_v not_o have_v do_v it_o without_o he_o and_o they_o all_o do_v nothing_o in_o comparison_n of_o he_o and_o beside_o he_o may_v be_v of_o that_o great_a wisdom_n and_o so_o know_v the_o measure_n of_o his_o strength_n and_o what_o be_v fit_a for_o such_o a_o purpose_n that_o he_o may_v say_v while_o they_o be_v about_o it_o or_o before_o they_o begin_v now_o i_o know_v that_o the_o thing_n be_v overcome_v or_o as_o good_a as_o do_v when_o other_o shall_v fear_v that_o they_o shall_v do_v no_o great_a matter_n or_o be_v like_o never_o to_o prevail_v and_o so_o they_o shall_v not_o only_o obtain_v their_o purpose_n by_o his_o mean_n but_o by_o his_o word_n be_v encourage_v in_o the_o do_n of_o it_o yea_o comfort_v before_o they_o begin_v so_o be_v it_o when_o many_o of_o unequal_a faith_n pray_v together_o therefore_o as_o it_o be_v well_o for_o they_o that_o shall_v have_v such_o strong_a man_n in_o their_o company_n to_o labour_v with_o they_o so_o shall_v it_o be_v much_o more_o happy_a for_o those_o that_o shall_v have_v they_o that_o be_v now_o weak_a in_o faith_n to_o pray_v for_o they_o the_o like_a may_v be_v say_v of_o that_o that_o befall_v the_o jew_n in_o the_o day_n of_o king_n hezekiah_n as_o it_o be_v set_v down_o in_o the_o second_o book_n of_o the_o chronicle_n 32.1_o 2._o chro._n 32.1_o where_o first_o it_o be_v say_v that_o saneherib_n king_n of_o ashur_n when_o he_o come_v up_o against_o jerusalem_n with_o a_o great_a host_n they_o be_v all_o afraid_a of_o his_o greatness_n but_o at_o last_o this_o good_a king_n get_v by_o prayer_n more_o assurance_n of_o faith_n than_o the_o rest_n and_o so_o bad_a his_o noble_n and_o people_n not_o fear_v he_o people_n verse_n 7._o hezekiah_n have_v assurance_n of_o god_n help_n for_o the_o comfort_n of_o all_o his_o people_n say_v be_v strong_a and_o courageous_a fear_v not_o neither_o be_v afraid_a for_o the_o king_n of_o asshur_n neither_o for_o all_o the_o multitude_n that_o be_v with_o he_o for_o there_o be_v more_o with_o we_o than_o be_v with_o he_o with_o he_o be_v a_o arm_n of_o flesh_n but_o with_o we_o be_v the_o lord_n our_o god_n to_o help_v we_o and_o to_o fight_v our_o battle_n and_o then_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o people_n be_v comfort_v by_o his_o word_n insinuate_v that_o they_o be_v waver_v and_o doubtful_a before_o now_o that_o he_o come_v to_o this_o assurance_n by_o prayer_n there_o be_v no_o doubt_n though_o there_o be_v no_o mention_n of_o it_o in_o these_o word_n for_o beside_o that_o the_o lord_n do_v thus_o unusual_o give_v it_o as_o have_v be_v see_v before_o this_o good_a king_n in_o this_o distress_n we_o may_v be_v assure_v do_v not_o neglect_v it_o especial_o when_o afterward_o in_o the_o same_o chapter_n there_o be_v mention_v make_v of_o his_o prayer_n thus_o the_o king_n for_o himself_o and_o for_o the_o rest_n have_v this_o assure_v unto_o he_o that_o he_o know_v that_o god_n will_v help_v they_o so_o be_v not_o only_o comfort_v himself_o but_o comfort_v other_o in_o this_o great_a fear_n afterward_o it_o fall_v out_o that_o when_o the_o danger_n increase_v and_o his_o faith_n somewhat_o fail_v he_o receive_v this_o benefit_n of_o comfort_n in_o his_o fear_n from_o another_o even_o for_o the_o prophet_n isaijah_n for_o it_o be_v say_v 20._o and_o afterward_o the_o prophet_n have_v it_o for_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o king_n verse_n 20._o that_o after_o this_o the_o king_n of_o asshur_n send_v his_o captain_n rabsakeh_n who_o with_o great_a threaten_a and_o rail_v word_n seek_v to_o terrify_v the_o people_n who_o to_o that_o end_n cry_v out_o unto_o they_o upon_o the_o wall_n in_o the_o jewish_a language_n then_o hezekiah_n the_o king_n and_o isaiah_n the_o prophet_n pray_v against_o this_o and_o cry_v to_o heaven_n but_o it_o seem_v that_o the_o king_n for_o all_o this_o have_v yet_o no_o great_a assurance_n in_o himself_o that_o god_n will_v deliver_v he_o but_o isaiah_n that_o pray_v with_o he_o have_v it_o for_o he_o and_o for_o the_o rest_n and_o do_v comfort_v he_o for_o it_o be_v thus_o write_v of_o hezehiah_n that_o he_o go_v into_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o pray_v and_o send_v messenger_n to_o the_o prophet_n to_o desire_v he_o 19.1_o 2._o king_n 19.1_o that_o he_o will_v do_v so_o to_o and_o so_o he_o do_v and_o thereupon_o send_v he_o this_o message_n which_o assurance_n god_n give_v he_o by_o prayer_n for_o the_o rest_n that_o he_o shall_v not_o fear_v his_o word_n 10._o verse_n 10._o for_o he_o will_v send_v a_o blast_n upon_o he_o and_o he_o shall_v hear_v a_o noise_n and_o shall_v return_v into_o his_o own_o land_n and_o there_o he_o shall_v die_v by_o assurance_n and_o so_o here_o in_o this_o distress_n many_o pray_v together_o the_o prophet_n isaiah_n only_o for_o all_o the_o rest_n say_v now_o know_v i_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v hear_v and_o help_v us._n but_o before_o this_o i_o shall_v have_v place_v the_o example_n of_o that_o good_a king_n jehoshaphat_n which_o be_v set_v down_o also_o in_o the_o same_o book_n of_o the_o chronicle_n both_o because_o it_o be_v before_o this_o in_o order_n of_o time_n and_o especial_o because_o it_o be_v most_o fit_a for_o this_o purpose_n rest_n 2._o chron._n 20_o 2._o jehoshaphat_n pray_v for_o
